I had approached getting a single desk with my boyfriend but he seemed pretty adamant against it, unfortunately. I will try to sway him, maybe he'll change his mind or something.

We have the litter box & extra bikes (we have a lot of bikes) stored in the back hall by the bathroom. The cats like the window, which is why it's there.

We're pretty good with kitchen storage. We were actually thinking of getting an Island/Breakfast bar kind of deal with two stools, but I wasn't sure if two desk chairs + two stools + a loveseat would be crazy for the space. I was kind of admiring something like this

I thought about the sofa against the wall, too. Again, I'll have to approach the boyfriend as he seems adverse to giving his desk up.

Thanks :D

My eat-in kitchen is from the 1940's, and it's SO TEENY. When we moved in, I had roughly 8 square feet of counter space, which is mostly occupied by our microwave and dish rack (no space for a dishwasher!) The thing that saved my sanity in the kitchen was a rolling kitchen cart very similar to this one. Mine has a spice rack along the back, a stainless steel counter, and a cutting board that pulls out just above the drawers. It makes things so efficient, I just love it. Good luck with your remodel, I totally understand the struggle!

EDIT: Here are some other fun options :)

I don't see any problem with a round table (especially a drop-leaf), but if you want something narrow so that you can pass between the table and the couch, you might want to look for a rectangle shaped table. Are you looking for something lower or higher?

You could go for a simple drop-leaf or mid-century (one, two) bistro table or something more modern, like a pub table (one, two, three). Either way, I'd encourage you to mix & match chairs to suit your style and comfort level, since sometimes dining sets can look a bit dated or cheap.

Another tip for your plant fantasies I've suggested to others before - add a shelf or two across the window for some extra storage/light. Maybe hang some around the window as well.

I've read some of these books before I bought them, some I already finished and the rest are on my list to read. My problem is that I read 10 books at once. I'll read a couple of chapters and/or half a book and then switch it up. My mind is strange like that. I don't why I do it but it just works.

I'm collecting books to have in my library one day. Wishful thinking, I know! My bookshelf is packed and the remaining books are now collecting on my desk and comic book short boxes.

There is this image I've always had of myself in a room like this or that. Some guys want the big bar (I would love to have this mini bar and whiskey set), big screen tv, and football memorabilia. I rather have the silence, in solitude, next to a fire, book in hand.

Remember, it's not hoarding if it's books. ;)

Thank you for specifying multiple items! I couldn't pick.

  1. I want an attractive bar server. Something like this I love my wine and liquor. I have to wait until my kids are all old enough that I don't have to cringe whenever they're near it, though.

  2. A stationary bike. I'm paying $300 a year for a gym membership just to ride stationary bikes. Why not buy my own and cancel the membership? We'd save money long-term. High impact exercises are a problem for me because of repeated injuries to the same ankle. Bikes are my way to burn lots of calories in a short amount of time still.

  3. A nice bird bath for my front yard.

  4. This appetizers on ice thing. This would really come in handy for parties I've thrown!

  5. An awesome popcorn popper. I love popcorn but I have absolutely demolished every other popper I've had...they just don't hold up to once-a-day or even a few-times-a-week use for at least a year. So, if anyone has any other very durable suggestions, let me know!

Since you mentioned a small place, instead of a large table, maybe try a pub top table? One like this or like this?
I have one in my tiny place, and it's been great.

u/lewisisgud · 1 pointr/malelivingspace

Step 1:

Obtain area rug. Try and get something that will either compliment the couch or something that really pops.

Step 2: Wall Art. Cheap prints can be found online on Etsy, Redbubble, or your local Antique shop.

Step 3: Plants! Go to your closes walmart or nursery and pick up some cheap potted plants. Water em'....but not to much.

For the furniture, you are looking for something mid-century modern type, so AllModern, HayNeedle, Structube, and Ikea will be your friends.
As for pub tables, are you thinking of something like like this?

u/coastieretired · 1 pointr/dailydabbers

Assembled under the influence while surfing Amazon. I couldn't tell you a total price. The idea was to have an easily concealable dab station. It's just a standard globe drink cart. The Kube inside the cart provides the lights. The Octopi glass sits on a skeleton hand jewelry statue. Various other trinkets were added from Amazon. Museum putty holds it all together. The blue lights and sound effects that come from under the drink cart are generated by another $20 dollar device off Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007ROXD8S/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The Kube shown at the beginning of this thread is another concealable application. It's pictured inside a living room coffee table whose lid lifts to reveal the dab station. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074WMFL55/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Thanks for the contest!

  1. This globe is the only drinking related thing I have.
  2. Grape
  3. I'm going on vacation soon! That made me happy!
u/johneldridge · 2 pointsr/alcohol

Holy shit, 2k?? I was just browsing Google shopping results and there are some beautiful examples for less than a grand...

This looked particularly awesome... $423 for marble-top counter, super classy.

u/Jteph · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

These rocks are pretty cool. 😂

There is also this one, another Italian old world replica in smaller size for $84.99 with free shipping

Coaster Gloss White Contemporary Bar Unit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008Y2YNX6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_NgXFzbJ1P9F8C I go this a few years ago, and I love it. Might be a bit wide for your needs, though. This is what it looks like with bottles on it.

u/Schweizerdolch_60 · 3 pointsr/BottleCapCollecting

You can put them on the top of a round cocktail table kinda like this but customized with a recessed portion for the caps and a piece of glass that will fit snugly over top.

u/funnymatt · 2 pointsr/Standup

If you want to do it on the cheap and you need a few, I'd just go to Home Depot, get some raw materials, and build them. That would probably save you the most $$$.

Or you could just buy something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Winsome-Spectrum-28-Inch-Pub-Table/dp/B001E95R18/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&qid=1481311828&sr=8-17&keywords=bar+tables

u/zombiegirl2010 · 1 pointr/butchlesbians

Oh awesome idea! So, the globe opens to house said whiskey?

edit: Like this?

u/ScientificBoinks · 1 pointr/malelivingspace

If you want to try something a little different, I bought myself a high-top/pub table that works well as a desk. As a bonus, I have extra seating for when people come over to visit.

u/petekill · 1 pointr/fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu

This is the one I have. I've been happy with it, it seems to be pretty high quality(it weighs like 150lbs!) The only warning I have about it is that the pictures are a bit misleading. They must have some sort of tiny display bottles, because a regular fifth of liquor just barely fits in the bottom shelves, and some bottles are too tall for the shelves.

u/intoxikate · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I would so totally recommend something like [this:] (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20104718/)
or on amazon, this!

u/stephenlloyd_dot_net · 5 pointsr/malelivingspace

I agree. Here's what I did with the blank corner in my room The fake plant was $40 from Ikea, the telescope was from Amazon and on a clear night you can see the rings of Saturn. Sort of ties the outside with the inside.

Edit* I guess to go further, the painting is entitled "Building" by Joe Lloyd in Los Angeles and the globe is from Amazon as well, but more notably recognized from the Mike Myers scene in Inglorious Basterds

u/[deleted] · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Anyone who has spoken to me on tinychat will tell you that I need a lamp for my poorly lit apartment.

And this is what I always recommend for these new home threads.

STOCK MY HOUSE so they stop making fun of my cave :(

u/Fitz0053 · 1 pointr/palletfurniture

I've made a few of those as presents and have one in my room. I always put these on the bottom for glasses and it looks nice: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000H0W7DG?pc_redir=1405521835&robot_redir=1
