I've been sleeping on a mattress on the floor for the past year for the same reason you're considering.

I just finally ordered a bed frame and put it together, I have to admit it feels nice being higher up, and it's easier to make my bed now as well.

The frame I got was pretty easy to assemble, and it still looks nice too. :)

P.S. I've never slept with anyone, so that dynamic wasn't even considered.

We bought a bunk bed that can work as two twins or a bunk bed. Built the top bunk with the rails and toddler sleeps in that. Stored the pieces for the bottom bunk away. When baby is old/big enough for a big boy bed he'll get the top bunk and she'll move to the bottom bunk without rails (still having them as separate beds, not stacked). Eventually we'll stack them and put them in one room for sleepovers (if they last that long).

Only downside I've experienced with this is the bed is a little higher than a standard twin, which is only an issue for getting on and off. We just bought a small step stool and it worked perfectly.

ETA: This is the bed we got. Storkcraft Long Horn Solid Hardwood Twin Bunk Bed, White Twin Bunk Beds for Kids with Ladder and Safety Rail https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005KHYRRA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_.SACCbYSGJDK4

Hey guys, as mentioned, looking for some advice on what type & color of headboard to get for my room. My gut was telling me to get something tufted in a grey/charcoal color, but I've been having mixed thoughts after talking to a couple of friends. Was thinking something like: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075VCM1XR/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_7?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

I would say my style is somewhere in between Scandinavian & mid-century with southwestern/bohemian influences

Thank you! I got the dining table and stools from Structube, though I believe they've both been discontinued. The table was the 'Visio' model and the stools were 'Concrete pedestals,' 18 inches (standard chair height).

For the table, you can look for a "glass waterfall table" and the seats are made of wood and coated in concrete.

Edit: I actually don't have a bed frame yet, it's just a really thick mattress lol. I want to get something like this though: https://www.amazon.ca/Nexera-346003-Acapella-Queen-Platform/dp/B00TYLM8RE

Have you thought about a bunk bed? Idk about your financial situation but you can order one for $180 USD on amazon (this is just from a brief search, you might be able to find one for cheaper). They are actually pretty easy to construct as long as you follow the instructions. Saves a lot of space too since I assume you are not sharing a twin bed.

I got this in April. All steel, easy assembly. Blends in better than the catalog photo.

I’m looking at this bedframe atm but idk yet. I’ll have to check out some local thrift stores for art that’s a good idea. I’m a second year in college so I still might go for the flag. Thanks

I found this tool which seems like it will be helpful! I'm taking a break until tomorrow but I can check in with you tomorrow to see how you're progressing, and you can check in on me :)

I have this platform bed in king size and I'm pretty happy with it. It does have slats though, so it might not be what you're looking for. The full size one is only $208:

You could also get a nightstand or two for it:

I got the hardwood one from world of futons. Works great. Definitely quiet.

I have an identical one from Amazon and sleep on it every night. It's fantastic. No wiggling or squeaking even during sexy times. Was able to set it up by myself in half an hour. Link

Happy Monday everyone! How is everyone doing today?

My day is pretty decent so far. My new mattress arrives today, but my bed frame doesn't arrive until Wednesday or Friday. I'm so excited and I just want to sleep on my new memory foam cloud!!!

u/warriorwaspeater · 1 pointr/BDSMcommunity

If you get one that has a frame for canopies, then you could do standing bondage (it wouldn't be strong or safe enough for suspension though). My dom has a frame like this and it is incredible.

something like this or this?

if so, "leather headboard," "upholstered headboard," "leather bed," etc. would be some good search terms for you.

I got this one: https://www.amazon.com/Nexera-346031-Alibi-Platform-Walnut/dp/B00XOMCT50

Got a pretty substantial internal wooden frame, and mine had about 5 large planks instead of all the slats. Very solid.

Zinus sells beds on Amazon that are exactly the same structural shape but made of black metal. They are usually around $120 depending on size and are well reviewed.

Parkview Full Workstation Loft Bed Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0011E1ZDA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_XuKsDbMDT6JDN

My husband and I used to have this one. Held us both just fine and the desk worked great. Also nice because it only took an Allen wrench (included) to assemble. $500 and we gave it to a roommate when we finally got a new frame. Lasted over three years (haven’t talked to the old roommate so idk the current status). Only thing I’ll say is it was generally quiet, but not 100% squeak free.

u/codeplaysleep · 3 pointsr/Parenting

We got our kiddo a loft bed when they were 12. I think with a lot of loft beds, you use thinner bunk bed mattresses. However, we didn't want to do that for comfort reasons, and because we'd just bought them a nice mattress the year before. We got this one. It's metal, fits a regular mattress (full-size, not a twin) with plenty of height left on the railing, and 6yrs later, it's still solid as a rock. We haven't even ever had to tighten bolts. I think we paid around $700 for it, but it's held up so well that it's been worth the money. Our plan was to buy something that would last through college. I suspect this will last much longer.

This is one I've been tempted to try.

That's the Ultimate Bed!

For only $3k! For that price, you should all buy two!

u/ratbitefever · 3 pointsr/LosAngeles

I bought my bed+mattress on Amazon, but it can be hit or miss. I can vouch for this metal bed frame's quality. Quiet, sturdy, low key. I put it together in 30 min by myself. One issue was that they sent a wrong part so they offered exchange and I swapped out the necessary piece when the exchange arrived.

If you're willing to make the drive to Moorpark, I came across this modern furniture supplier on Craigslist. Here's a link to Edgemod's website. They have some clearance stuff in the warehouse at the $30-$300 range.

Salvation Army and Goodwill are worth a look!

I don't know if Marshall's/TJ Maxx/HomeGoods has sales but they have quirky furniture at a discount. Target has sales, and they also carry outdoor furniture.
