  1. So the “spooky vibes” were just “Netflix and chill”?
  2. Myself; with others ... I tend to prefer company but I also really value my personal time ... I’d say despite those thoughts ... its really all the same to me.
  3. Like always when you make these sort of technical points: maybe technically so, but I’m pretty sure the technical hurdles are no match for you ... just not sure whether you’re not jumping on purpose or if we gotta work on your high jump some more.
  4. I have several. Right now it’s porcelain, but sometimes I squat, though I also have these cool pack-away chairs for camping that self assemble ... their portability is useful.

I’ll hit you up later you old empty rice bag.

We have camped with our daughter since the summer when she turned 1. She's now 4. Here's my advice for a 16 month old:

  1. Bring a pack n' play if at all possible. You'll need a safe place where the kid can be contained while setting up and tearing down camp. It's great for overnight, naps, containment.

  2. Either bring her a toddler sized lawn chair or a clip on high chair (such as this: https://philandteds.com/us/Products/Feed/Lobster#.WGiPLvkrLIU).

  3. Consider a really warm sleepsack and definitely bring a winter hat for the baby's head and winter pjs. Extra blankets are a plus. We had one camping trip where it rained the whole time and got really chilly at night. We ended up bundling our daughter in several layers, using all of the blankets we bought for her, and adding some bath towels as extra blankets because it dropped below 50 overnight in August.

  4. Lots of snacks for the car. Consider having one adult sit in the back with your kid to keep them company and entertain them. Drop the plastic lid from on top of your head was a favorite car game at this age.

  5. Try to limit your campsite to one major hazard at a time. At one point, my husband had the camp stove and gas lantern both going and was lighting the campfire. I can't remember what I was trying to achieve in that moment (probably unpacking), but it was hopeless-- keeping the baby from touching something very hot became mission critical and I got really stressed out. We've since switched to a really bright battery-powered lantern... it was just too many hazards at once.

  6. Lots of extra pants. Don't take a toddler camping and pack only shorts. Also learned from experience.

  7. Our favorite space saving camping gear is these chairs: https://www.amazon.com/G4Free-Portable-Ultralight-Outdoor-Backpacking/dp/B00OIDZ4VU/ref=pd_sim_468_4 .

We found ages 1-2 to be the most challenging for car trips because it would be hard for our daughter to get out all of her energy and she'd get mad about being in her carseat. She was also too young for most car toys on the market. We would take turns walking her up and down sidewalks or up hills near gas stations when we would stop. We also tried to stop at playgrounds whenever possible.

    Good luck!

I have a tiny balcony that doesn't have enough room for a lounger chair. This Folding Camp Chair would be ideal to sit in and enjoy the sun. And whenever I'm at a festival or in the forest, I can take it with me. Nothing screams summer like relaxing outside.

BINGO!

Kelty LowLove Chair, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009R8Q3P2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_rr8Fzb3558H6Z

My husband and I have this one. Looks like the older version of the one posted above. They come in low and regular heights.

We got the shorter for our bulldogs to get on and off easy. We love it. It is a tad bulky/heavy in comparison to other camp chairs but it is sturdy. It is perfectly fine for car camping or not needing to carry too far.

u/iamalext · 1 pointr/CampingGear

I picked up an Alite Monarch and love it. The two leg design may seem a little weird at first, until you realize just how comfortable it is! Packs down small, and is quite lightweight! It's worth the carry weight for the comfort!

Oh man. Too easy- hunting and hiking open up sooooo many awesome gift ideas. I can go rapid fire all day. First up would be Helinox's Chair One which they just started making in camo. It's a modern lightweight collapsible chair that's super comfy. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EJMOJDO

u/WubbaLubbaDubStep · 4 pointsr/WildernessBackpacking

Good question. 1kg (2.2lbs) is a bit more than mine weighs. Mine weighs about 15-20 oz. (about 0.4 - 0.6kg). I couldn't find an exact spec on weight.

This chair, which is quite popular, does weigh about 1kg. A little heavy and bulky for me, but still worth it.

The thing is, when you're in the wilderness, you have no idea what you'll find. Very rarely are there stumps you can move and sit on. Usually there isn't much chainsaw activity where I hike/camp. And to find a stone that you can halfway comfortably sit on would be way too heavy to move. Sleeping pads provide no back support and I don't really want to track dirt or ash into my tent from sitting on it by a fire (or risk burning a hole in it like I have my camp chair).

So I found the additional 1/2 kg well worth it to have a comfortable place to sit.

My girlfriend bought the Burton REI version and I bought a KingDo Way.

The chairs are literally identical besides the branding and the price. She was kind of miffed, but the design is really cool (about $75 worth of cool...ha) You can even install the REI seat on my legs.

I'm assuming they're all made in the same factory or from the same design and simply rebranded. We've had ours for almost the same amount of time, and they're both well built and have held up very well. I wouldn't be worried

Car camping? Backpacking?

If you're car camping and looking to throw some cash at it, the NEMO Stargazer is about as comfortable (and passingly amusing) as a chair gets.

If you're backpacking and looking at saving weight, the Moon Lence is inexpensive and an excellent dupe of the much more expensive Helinox Chair Zero - with the caveat that neither chair is entirely comfy.

For what it's worth, Outdoor Gear Lab has some excellent articles reviewing both camping and backpacking chairs:

I looked at the Condor Bison too, but did not like the single large compartment and that the removable pack on the back covers the molle webbing. I have about 6 or 7 Condor bags (and just about every pouch they make) and I found for a large bag with plenty of pockets and compartments the 3-Day Assault bag was best and for a smaller minimal bag the Convoy worked best (for me). On both of them, I can fit my fold up table and tripod standing up on each of the side pockets.

This is the table

The Wyoming Trail 2 packs large, 25" long by 8 inch diameter. About 13lbs I think.

My regular 1-2 man is 18 long by 6 diameter.

The chair is a "Chair One" not the mayfly

The top box on the Triumph Speedmaster is a Pelican case knock off. The rack is just a traditional square rail rack with slots created by the rails. We made a 1/2" plywood base(one layer) the whole box sits on. We then cut 1/2" plywood to fill in the slots of the rack. These were then glued and screwed to the base. Then there is a 1/2" plywood bottom piece that matches the shape of the rack.

The plywood base is bolted in the corners to the Pelican box. Which is then inset into the rack and through bolted through the case, base and bottom panel. The inserts that fit the rack keep everything from sliding around locking it in and the bottom and top allow it all to sandwich the rack holing it tight while giving the bottom of the box more support.

The box only goes on for big trips.

I am a big fan of this style of chair for camping. (that folds up in the middle)

http://www.amazon.com/Designers-Aluminum-Folding-Chair-Table/dp/B004Y9YUW2/ref=sr_1_5?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1343829889&sr=1-5&keywords=aluminum+chair

I have no idea of what brands to look for, but I'm sure you can find something cheaper elsewhere, but I have a couple of these and they are great chairs.

u/get_up_get_down · 2 pointsr/bonnaroo

I understand not wanting to carry a chair all day, but if your dad is 63 then laying/sitting on the ground for hours at a time might be pretty hard on him.

You could look into getting one of these chairs, it weighs about 7lbs which isn't nothing but it could make a lot of difference for him.

Or these are light and portable and would at least provide some back support without being a pain to carry around.

u/samm1t · 4 pointsr/bonnaroo

I'm older and fatter than I used to be, and I don't have the energy or stamina I once did.
A game changer for me was bringing one of these chairs in to centeroo in my camelbak. Being able to sit down anywhere and have a back to lean on turns all of the tents into outdoor stadiums and turns any shade into a great place for a cat nap.
The key to making it through the day is pacing yourself.

I also strongly recommend bringing a tub and some epsom salts to soak your feet in.

u/moore77 · 3 pointsr/vandwellers

Ok, cool, that makes more sense! Totally manageable for 8 months.

Side note; don't buy a new car. Buy a used one! Just my two cents for anyone trying to get ahead on finances.

As for things to have in the car, I love having a folding chair around camp

u/Area_Woman · 3 pointsr/ElectricForest

go to amazon and search for 'solar garden lights'. they have some pretty fun stuff that we had at different fests last year. also...our inflatable couches were a hit at a smaller fest (Jammin on the Wolf in WI) last year. Perfect for the campsite and light enough that we carried the couches to stages during daytime sets or to chill spots. don't forget the pump.

u/diiiiiianaaaaaa · 1 pointr/ElectricForest

This Kelty Low Chair. It's the most amazing. Really. The low profile is key for camping festivals. You're basically lounging the whole time, so much more comfortable on your neck. It is pricey, but it's worth it. Promise.

u/JZA1 · 3 pointsr/NYCC

You’re going to want one of these instead of a tripod stool: MARCHWAY Ultralight Folding Camping Chair, Portable Compact for Outdoor Camp, Travel, Beach, Picnic, Festival, Hiking, Lightweight Backpacking (Bright Blue) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071VW4Z1V/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_sZwTBb3C41BK4

The back support makes a huge difference, plus this is actually lighter than my tripod stool.

u/dzlux · 3 pointsr/Hunting

Browning Chair. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003AV6CO4/

Some beach chairs might work, but make sure the fabric is quiet when shifting weight. Lots of low height camp chairs out there, but most lean you back into a position less ideal for shooting.

u/greenw40 · 1 pointr/CampingGear

I usually leave these chairs at home when backpacking, but I have brought them a few times. It comes in handy when you know the park doesn't have anything to sit on besides wet logs. When I go car camping I bring full sized camping chairs. Like this.

u/GetOffMyLawn_ · 2 pointsr/cfs

Carry your seat with you, links below.

  • Camp chair
  • Lightweight camp chair

If it is a groomed trail then you may be able to take a rollator with you. It helps with both walking and sitting. You can even get taller ones that let you walk fully upright.
u/guitarfury · 1 pointr/kayakfishing

This seat works amazingly well and is cheap as hell. I picked up one around the same year as yours earlier this year. Found the suggestion on Hobie forums. I made no alterations to the seat other than attaching clips to the d rings on the seat and running shock cord through the back.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003AV6CO4/ref=cm_sw_r_taa_sh8rxbGRCX6Q2

Here's mine. I did have to make an extension for the steering lever to reach it easier. I've been out a lot on it this year and yesterday I was fishing from sun up to sun down. You really can't beat this. And it's 40 bucks!

Always wanted one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Alite-Designs-01-01E-JOR5-P-Monarch-Chair/dp/B009UW2TV2

I couldn't justify paying that much though, at least not right now. Maybe somebody who owns one can chime in.
