I think that it looks a little bland the way it is currently. If you are going for metal decor like the orbs, I would suggest silver to match that curtain rod. Since you do have quite large shelves, you can put quite a few things without it looking cluttered. I noticed that you are using a crystal as a bookend, but I believe it would look better if you neatly stacked the books (bind facing outwards) and display the crystal away from the books.

Since you like bright colors also, I would suggest something eye-catching rather than the gold orbs. Decorate already! These books ends would look wonderful and go well with the decor you already brought in. I think that This little guy would look simply adorable keeping an eye on your computer desk. I love black cats and books so if you do too this trinket box might work out well. Could we request a GC? I am saving for a vaccum otherwise surprise me, I wish you the best of luck finding some things for your desk/office area.

Has he read all of Rick Riordan's books? (I'm assuming yes, but in case not, those are super popular).

If he likes reading, what about a set of bookends? I got a set of Harry Potter bookends for my birthday when I was 10, and I've kept them for well over a decade. It's the kind of gift you'd never buy for yourself but that you didn't know how much you wanted/will use.

I would look into removable wallpaper if you could find some for an affordable price, even to do an accent wall in a nice burgundy/gold color like the walls in the movies are.

The main thing that would make it though would be some sort of wall hangings bearing Gryffindor colors or symbols like a lion. You could get crafty, or there are several options available like this one that costs $25. I would probably replace the throw pillows with some that are scarlet and gold, and you could go to Half Price Books, which usually sells old decorative books by the foot for a low price, and line them up along the entertainment center with a couple of nice bookends (like these lion ones) Maybe a dark red blanket tossed over the couch and long flowy curtains (I'd picture some thick velvet-looking ones) would also up the coziness feel.

Edit: Here is a pattern of removable wallpaper that I think evokes the feeling of the Gryffindor common room, even though it's not the right color. It's not the most affordable thing in the world though. One 8' by 10' accent wall with a 3' by 3' opening would take 4 rolls, which would come out to about $150. I like agate bookends.

If I were you, I would grab some baskets/bins to contain some of your collection. It'll break up the space. Taking some of the photos and trophies and place them on top of the horizontal stacks will help make the bookshelves look less like an organizational necessity and more like a showcase of what you like.

Could you place your TV and it's stand between the shelves. That could really anchor that wall.

Hey, I was looking for bookends today, and came across these -- maybe you should add them to your wish list!

I didn't get it either, at first. Why would people want to send stuff to a stranger, I wondered?

Then, after being gifted a couple times, I decided to reciprocate. I perused lists and came across someone who wanted one of my daughter's favorite books, so I sent it. The thank you message was profuse, and the recipient said she was in grad school, without a nickel, and was stressed because of finals. It had brightened her day so much.

That's when it clicked for me. "That's why people do it", I realized. It really feels good to make someone's day in an unexpected way.

This is super cute. It looks like a shitty cutter though. Does anyone else have some cool bicycling decorations/doodads they like? I always liked these, but they are super expensive, and I can't justify the cost.

  I measured it and realized it's the perfect length to put on ends of the entire Rurouni Kenshin collection. It just so happens to work perfectly with the Billy bookcase.

If she likes farm style, anything by the Joanna Gaines collection at target would be great.

A journal or book mark would go well with her book club things. Maybe even farm style book ends . You might be able to find cuter more rustic-y ones on Etsy.
