I've had a Member's Only Racer Jacket I bought at ~$65 for 7 years now that is still in great shape. Not for the most formal of offices, but depending on the workplace, it'll fit right in.

It's fully lined with a thin synthetic layer of fabric to create a pocket of air between you and the outer layer so it is surprisingly warm for the weight/packabilty. It's my go-to "throw in a bag or backpack without thinking about it" jacket.

*I should add that I wore this in gray for a year in a bizz casual office job with chinos/slacks, button downs, and oxfords.

I have one in navy and I love it. It's the perfect weight for spring and fall up here in New England.

Been thinking about getting a denim jacket but there seems to be so many types levis has. Would the below linked one be a good choice even though its not commuter or slim fit? Also, what would be an ideal color?

Amazon's brand Goodthreads has a decent jacket for around 50 dollars. I'm fairly slim so it's a little boxy on me, but the quality is pretty nice and overall it looks good.

Levi's makes loads of different colors and washes for their jeans and jackets, and frequently a lot of them are only around for a few months before being replaced with something similar. As /u/mcadamsandwich said, it could be vintage, or it could also just be an out-of-production wash. Your best bet is probably finding something similar.

It's worth noting also that Levi's makes different lines and washes for different vendors. Amazon, for instance, has a number of unique colors.

I also wouldn't worry too much about 'stiff and thick'. The jacket in your photo looks like pretty much every denim jacket I've ever seen - none are particularly stiff (except genuine raw denim) and they'll all soften and fade with wear.

I'm looking for an affordable jacket with hand pockets on the side (preferably unsanfornized) .

I really like the breast pockets on this nudie jacket, because they almost look futuristic, but it doesn't the kind of hand pockets I’m looking for.

Does anyone know of similar jackets at a more affordable price?

Not raw, but their 14.75oz prewashed fabric. It's substantial, a cool natural indigo color, unsinged, broken twill, and sometimes found for as little as $27 on Amazon. It's also a traditional type III fit (a short cut), AND has pockets inside and outside.

I was originally looking at more expensive denim jackets (with likely more expressive fabric), but I'm glad I didn't spend the money.

I live in Florida also and recently purchased a waxed jacket. I've been wearing it in the mornings in anticipation of potential rain and scattered showers and in my experience it is pretty warm and not all that breathable. Standing around in the high 60s/low 70s is tolerable but walking around outside at that temperature gets sweaty and the inside becomes clammy and steamy.

Waxed canvas has a rugged, handsome quality to it but isn't working as I had hoped. Currently waffling between a Levis Commuter Trucker and a Duluth Trading Co Freewheeler jacket as a light jacket with mininal weatherizing and high breathability.

I'd like to buy a Levi's trucker jacket. If I'd primarily wear it with dark blue or black jeans, should I go for a light color such as the queen? I really like the Rigid, but I wonder if that would look bad with dark jeans, since it's also dark. The sauterne actually looks pretty cool, but it might be a bit bold and hard to match.

Looks like the sale is over, but it's probably worth checking back on. I got mine in Indigo for just under 60. Keep in mind that this has a lot of commuter focused design so it's different than the typical Trucker.

I'm actually wearing pretty much the same exact jacket right now, except it's brand is Lee (the only visible difference is the branding on the buttons, and the breast pocket shape a little). It's pretty rad.
