  1. Tent: Eagles Peak II Two person tent - http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=50802926
-This was generous gift from my SO's mom. It may not be the best tent out there, but at free it can't be beat.

  2. Sleeping Bag: Marmot Aspen Minimalist 40 - http://www.trailspace.com/gear/marmot/aspen-40-ultralight/
-Got this for its small size and light weight. Future winter camping trips are a possibility, in which case I plan on snagging a wool blanket of sleeping bag liner.

  3. Sleeping Pad: RidgeRest Classic - http://www.amazon.com/Therm-A-Rest-6433-Parent-RidgeRest-Classic-Mattress/dp/B00HZ13OYG
-Simple basic sleeping pad, I've been using these since scouts and have wanted for nothing more, especially because of its light weight.
-In the event of winter camping, is this enough to insulate from the ground? If not, what could be added to my sleep system to keep me insulated from the ground?

  4. Cookware: Pot Pan stackable combo - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FQZEYWE?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00
-Lightweight and simple, these were cheap and seemed straight forward.
-They stack with the majority of either piece's empty space facing each other, allowing for decently dry storage for matches etc. inside.
-Comes with a tight fitting mesh ditty bag

  5. Small Camp Grill - Coghlan's Camp Grill - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001OPHA0S?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
-Another straight forward and cheap piece,
-This is really an optional piece, I plan on bringing it along on trips with big groups or when cooking meat is in the cards.

  6. Plates x2: Coleman Enamel plates - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009PUSPI?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
-These are the camping gold standard in my book, been using them since scouts.

  7. Stuff Sacks x3: REI pack of 3 Ditty Sacks 2, 3, and 7 liter. -http://www.rei.com/product/795047/rei-ditty-sack-package-of-3
-Came in a decently affordable combo pack, plan on using them for food/toiletries storage and bear bags.

  8. Knife: Morakniv Companion Straight Knife - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004TNWD40?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
-Love this little knife, cheap but durable and was a shaver straight out of the box.
-Came with a super thick plastic sheath

    9)Hatchet: Estwing Hatchet - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004TNWD40?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
-Heard this was a classic, people say they've still got the one's their grandfather's used. It's heavy, but I'm happy with the tradeoff.
-Got it sharpened well enough to cleanly slice through paper at the moment

  9. Axe Sharpener: Lansky Dual Grit Sharpener - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000B8FW0Y?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00
-Great sharpener, pretty much the go to field sharpener from what I've gathered.
-Only took a couple minutes to learn how to use, the only hard part is consistently following the bevel through each stroke, but it gets easier.

  10. Camp Towels x2: Microfiber quick-drying towels - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000B8FW0Y?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00
-Very great, medium size towels with their own tote

  11. Collapsible Water Jug: REI 2.5 gallon collapsible water jug - http://www.rei.com/product/402099/reliance-fold-a-carrier-water-carrier-25-gal
-Seems great, picked it up at REI physical store then read reviews and got spooked, we'll see though, a minority of the reviewers swear by it.
-Just in case it sucks, any suggestions for a collapsible water container of equal size/price?

  12. Water Bags x2: 33 oz Bag style canteens - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010OLZ3E2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00
-These came free with my water filter, and they have many good reviews. If they do well, I may buy some extras.

  13. Wine Skin: 2L - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CN4RN42?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00
-More showing of my primitivist ass, and I thought I could take some weight off of my SO by carrying enough water for the two of us.

  14. Pillows x2: Field and Stream - http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=33581126
-Got these a long time ago when I knew less, they are pretty bulky and my first item I want to replace

  15. Pack: Kelty Redwing 50L Black
-SO's mom gifted this this Christmas, so amazing and thoughtful, one of the best gifts I've ever gotten and I love the color

  16. Shoes: Skechers Trail Runners - I found these at the thrift store for a stunning 12 bucks and they fit perfectly

  17. Lighting: Outlite Lantern -http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01178FLM0?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00
-Pack of flashlights (might not bring all four) - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00V639BNC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01

  18. Extras: Tarp as groundcloth, some extra stakes.

    Items not shown:
-Always a tin or bag of Drum Tobacco and papers
    -Kindle, old generation one
    -Collapsible trowel
    -Paracord
-Burlap shoulder bag for gathering kindling etc

Items still wanted (suggestions greatly appreciated):
    -Knife for SO
    -Work gloves
    -Plastic flasks for booze
    -Belt pouch
    -Higher quality tarp
    -Knife Sharpener
-Sleeping bag liner or wool blanket
    -Any food suggestions!
    -Rain cover for pack
    -Smell proof food bags

I don't have much experience outside of scouts, so I'm very open to critique of my setup. I will warn that I am very much into primitivism, and camping for me is a gateway to a backcountry, esthetic lifestyle I one day I hope to live, so some of my gear choices may not always be the most efficient. Any advice from a primitivist or purist standpoint is doubly appreciated.

Not to be a jerk, but honestly, in going through the photos, I feel like you could probably fill a couple garbage bags just in trash. I suggest going through and quickly gathering garbage, sweeping the floor and then assessing.

Go through your make-up and toss anything old. It's not hygienic to keep old mascara/eye products, etc and I really doubt you need that entire white drawer thing for make-up unless you're a make-up artist or something. Go through the kitchen and toss anything expired. Buy a small collapsible step stool so you can access the cabinets. Really think through how you use your kitchen and buy items that are multipurpose. Can you pare down your pots and pans? You could use the wall the garbage is against to hang pots if needed. How often to you use your microwave? Can you justify having one? The pantry sucks, no getting around it. I suggest buying square containers for dry goods, like your rice, beans, etc so they are upright instead of flopping over on everything else. The pantry looks deep, but stuff will get buried in the back if you can't see it, so maybe use some shoeboxes or something in the back to elevate things that go in the back. Or get those wire shelfthings. You could also store your plates vertically in there and free up cupboard space for pantry items.

Your closets are totally being underutilized....where are the clothes? Wash all the laundry, sort through it, and start hanging stuff up. You may be able to free up a drawer in your dresser that could be used for something else. Looks like there's room for a shelf above the current closet shelf - again, get a trusty collapsible step stool. The wall in the closet would be a prime place to hang a vertical shoe rack. This over the door style could easily just be hung on a wall instead of over a door. Shelf dividers can help get the closet shelves under control.

I'd work on those things, and then do a major purge, and then look into other storage - you may find out you don't need as much extra storage as you think.

u/OklaJosha · 2 pointsr/ScandinavianInterior

for dinnerware, I'd suggest the white correlle plates, bowls, etc. they come in square or round, a good value, go w/ everything, & break resistant.

For the table & chairs, go w/ wood, natural to brown. (a lot of options here depending on budget & preferences) I personally like the looks of the reproduction Eames molded chairs for dining chairs

For cookware: Dansk Kobenstyle is really great looking & can add a pop of color. The enamel can chip though. 3-ply stainless steel pots & pans are great. Tramontina for an affordable option.

Are you looking for something fun or like a home gift? There are some really cool space plates and cups on Amazon, I own them and they’re great.

I actually can’t find the cups I have but these are similar and are cool. Nebula Glass Set with Images from NASA's Spitzer and and Hubble Space Telescopes https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y16KQLZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ERhlDb1FVXZQM

If he’s into the Destiny lore my husband owns these and thinks they’re pretty cool - maybe get him the set?

This food face plate is just about the best thing ever. I think you would love it.

If I win, I would really like this item.

We are very new to RVing too but we used to go camping a lot. We use an Amazon basic set that is pretty durable!! We also have small boxes inside that cabinet and one of those like rubber dumping towels between plates.

They are super cheap but of good quality!! Check them out:

Not a fan of paper or plastic either!!

u/mrsg1012 · 1 pointr/TwoXChromosomes

I'd do the diaper keg, if you're not comfortable with the girly party. It's way more laid back, and you can still register for things you may need. Have a friend/family member pass the word on about where you're registered. A piece of advice- if you want to limit the time you spend with the lady party, throw the party during a snack time rather than a meal time. Nothing clears people out faster than only having finger foods on hand instead of a meal. Crudites, a cheese and cracker platter, small sandwiches, a cake, and punch are pretty typical for baby showers. This particular friend I'm throwing it for is also of the non-girly type, and we chose this pattern for her.

Does that wheat straw material look like this kind of product? I saw a variety products using wheat straw plastic on the market and I bought the plates for curiosity. I'm pretty happy with them so I did some more research to see if it is really eco-friendly material. I found some information that wheat straw plastic is fully biodegradable within 6month in the facility. Here is the reference and website I found the information: http://www.worldcentric.org/about-compostables/materials/wheatstraw

Red Worms: A fast and efficient system to compost World Centric® brand compostable plates ; Cicada Hoyt; Ms. Buffy Sexton 7th grade science fair; Science Fair Research Paper; Provided January, 29 2013.

u/kilamumster · 1 pointr/whatisthisthing

The first one looks like earthenware rather than porcelain. I have not found info on it (yet).

The second plate looks like this Tognana Happy Hour Nouvelle Cuisine Deep Plate.

If you try a google image search on the string "tognana happy hour nouvelle cuisine" you will find some variations on the theme. Bed, Bath and Beyond has even more.

u/5213 · 1 pointr/WeWantPlates

Y'all

These are definitely for kids

There are other, significantly more shallow taco holders for more reasonable people, but the fun ones are just that: fun, and most likely for kids

u/1913intel · 1 pointr/WeightLossNews

Portion control is another option:

u/mag-neato · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Ooohhh soooo I just found THESE whilst stumbling around a new Amazon subreddit and had to show someone haha. I would get these, and a solid black set for like cups and junk.

u/golfpinotnut · 2 pointsr/Parenting

We use one of "these special day" plates.

Holy mother of God - I had no idea it cost $50. I think MIL bought it, but we've used it through a number of special days (including the spouse).

u/esemef · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Would could have threads of cool finds on amazon, or wherever, things everyone should add to their wishlist. Like this

u/wolframite · 14 pointsr/Tokyo

It’s also on Amazon.co.jp

It’s called the “ 藍三昧 黄地草花シリーズ“ ...something “yellow” flower series...

u/snide-remark · 8 pointsr/fatlogic

If you want to use a full dinner plate (instead of just a small plate) I recommend plates that have a dipped center. Meaning the outside of the plate is higher (and slanted) than the middle - and aim to only fill up the actually center of the plate. That way you have some wiggle room if you're eating something larger (like a single piece of meat) while still limiting available area to pile food in.

u/actualsysadmin · 2 pointsr/sousvide

Oh ok, these were the ones I was talking about here

u/headzoo · 21 pointsr/nyc

I hate to burst your bubble, but this ban is part of that teaching you want so badly. One of your first goals when trying to lose weight, or trying to help someone lose weight, is re-educating them on portion size. You can even buy plates now that help with that goal. Americans no longer think 20+ ounces of soda is a large portion of soft drink, and they need to be re-educated.

I've spent a lot of time in Japan, and a large McD's coke in Japan is the size of a small McD's coke in the U.S. The Japanese people don't order two cokes to get around the size limit. They accept that 16oz of coke is a large portion of soda, and they should, because it is.

Limiting the size of soft drinks in NYC isn't going to curb obesity because people can't drink large sodas, because they still can. It will curb obesity because people we be re-educated on proper portion control. The city is teaching people about portion size.
