I have only had my greyhound, Kuiper, for 3 weeks, so I can speak to what the first couple weeks with a shy dog is. He is also a retired racer (race name Bella Kingo) and was off the track for about 2 months before coming into our home. What is your girls racing name? What is her new name going to be?

Greyhounds in generally seem to be a very reserved breed at first, but they then open up and ours is becoming quite the goofball!

I don't know if you plan on kenneling her at all, but we chose to kennel Kuiper and are very happy we did. He likes to "get away from it all" sometimes and just goes to his kennel to take a nap. Also, he prefers to eat while standing in his kennel - while reaching to his food bowl outside.

As for things to keep in mind. The first day is often overwhelming for the dogs (at least it was for Kuiper.) Hourly trips outside until he got on schedule (he didn't go poop for the first 2 days!) and we ended up adding some metamucil to his food to solidify his stool. Greys can be sensitive, and you'll notice it most when they go to the bathroom. Also, we kennel Kuiper in our room at night and the second night his stomach was grumbling so loud it actually woke us up. That sometimes happens with the stress of new scenery and a new diet.

Also, patio doors! Our grey took one look at our deck and headed right into our patio door. He didn't hurt himself, but was kind of confused as first. So, if you have a patio door, just draw the blinds or put some masking tape on it and then introduce it to him.

I'll give you our experience with our cats. When we first got Kuiper, we put the cats in the basement for the first day to give him a chance to acclimate himself to us and our house. The second day we brought the cats up and every time a cat would come near, Kuiper would jump to his feet. At first, we thought it was a sign of aggression, we soon figured out that he was TERRIFIED of them and just wanted to leave the room when they came in. 3 weeks later, he still doesn't "like" them, but generally completely ignores them.

Another thing you could do to help the bond is grooming her. We bought a grooming glove which Kuiper really likes. I think it helps build the bond between him and I.

I had the chance to take off some work and spend the first couple days with him - I think that helped. All in all, we are still learning a LOT. He hasn't had any accidents in the house and only barks (or whines) when he needs to go outside to relieve himself. Honestly, it has been nothing short of fantastic!

Edit: I would also recommend a harness instead of a collar for when you go outdoors. I was reading an article just the other day that said there has been an increase in cases of dogs having esophageal problems because of collars. With shy dogs, sometimes they like to just freeze and stand there - and sometimes you need to move them for their own safety (i.e. Kuiper likes to freeze when people on bikes come towards him and we need to gently move him to the side of the trail.) The harness takes the strain off the neck. Just my two cents :)

I have this love glove which works really well. I vacuum a lot! Thankfully I have all tile floors so that helps cut down on it. The pet hair attachment rules! Makes cleaning my couch so easy and it works really well on tile floors!

I've essentially accepted the fact that my life is pretty much filled with cat hair.

I would say:

1. If you are truly invested in your business you should expect to spend more than $500. So don't quit here if you are dedicated.
   
2. Most of your items I've seen elsewhere, like on Wish. Which makes me think they are sourced directly from China. Except they seem kind of expensive? Some examples here:

      I know its tough to compete with Amazon & other large vendors. But when you are selling cheap products sourced from China, that's who are you competing with. If you want to charge more for your products you need to have higher quality products. As soon as I looked at your store I recognized 95% of your products ( as a pet owner ) because I've seen them on Wish, Amazon, and Chewy. There's no reason why I would shop at your site over those 3.

I also have a reusable lint roller - not good for heavy duty jobs but for clothes it is nice - just wash with warm water and maybe some soap.

Sort of. My process is this:

Before the cat comes into the bathroom

1. Fill bathtub about six inches high with warm water. Not quite tepid but not hot. Finish this before you bring the cat in.
   
   
2. Make sure you have a cup and your cat shampoo right on the edge of the bathtub, next to the wall. That way they can't knock it over when they try to escape.
   
   3.Have your shower curtain on the inside of the bathtub and have it about halfway across your bathtub.
   
   
3. Pet your cat and give them treats.
   
   
4. Pick your cat up like a baby and talk to it while walking into the bathroom.
   
   
5. Make sure your cat cannot see the bathwater and put the cat into the water backwards. Your cat will notice what is going on when you get close so be quick toward the end.
   
   Now you have your cat in the bathtub
   
   
6. Block the part of the bathtub that isn't by the curtain with your body.
   
   
7. Your cat will be yowling. Ignore it. Like this!
   
   
8. Start with the back, then feet, then belly. Use your cup to start rinsing the cat.
   
   
9. Your cat will try to escape. That's why you have the curtain blocking one side and your body on the other. Like this! When s/he does that, push them back in. Ignore any claws and if they start to smack at you lightly grab their neck skin. (I'm tired and don't remember the correct name.)
   
   
10. Drain the water while still blocking cattos escape route. Run your hands down the fur to squeegee out some of the water.
    
    
11. Have a large towel nearby and wrap is completely around your cat. Hold them for a few minutes. Once some of the water has been soaked up, let them to the ground and begin to rub the towel over your cat, if it lets you.
    
    12.5. I recommend brushing your cat with your grooming tools while it is trapped in the bathroom with you. It can't get away and all this hair will give it a hairball. I recommend this for the light grooming after your cat is dry because there will be fur everywhere. I recommend this for general brushings. Especially if your cat gets hairballs.
    
    
12. Let the cat free from the bathroom and be prepared to be randomly attacked later that day. :D
    
    A good thing for your cat would be to have a space heater, sun spot or somewhere warm for your cat to hang out for a while. If you don't, keep your house really warm. No one wants to see their cat shiver!
    
    This method has been curated through bathing feral and friendly cats. This also assumes your cat isn't going to go psycho and go for the throat. lol

I use a rubber one like this. It works great for removing pet fur from carpet and it works pretty good at stiring up dirt and sand so that it can be vacuumed up easier.

It shouldn’t, but to be safe maybe try a lint roller, maybe one of those reusable rubbery ones like this , those are usually pretty gentle.

lol but honestly, i feel this will really help keep a closet organized. i know it says its for shoes, but if you dont have a lot of shoes you can still put other things there.

Owner of 5 large dogs here. My sister pointed me in the direction of one of these and they are amazing at getting fur off the furniture, carpet, etc! Btw, your room is lovely just the way it is, including the naughty dog, haha!

I also have this that I use to keep it clean because I do eat at my desk as well. I also have been washing it like once every 2-3 months.

Get a rubber brush like THESE. They are excellent at removing pet hair.

Also, take your dog to the groomer for a bath and thorough brushing.

Do you have pet hair sponges? It's a very dense sponge which feels almost tacky to the touch, but doesn't use adhesives. The material loves pet hair. Then you just scrape it or rinse it off. The things are genius.

i love these. sometimes they're sold as grooming mitts for cats but they are the same thing. they're made of soft cloth...last time i was at petco they had some but they're not on the website. just make sure you rub the right way or it will deposit fur back onto your clothes!

I don't have any advice about the Shelties, sorry I have short haired dogs. But for the pup, really any brush should do. I have a [glove] (https://www.amazon.com/Grooming-Deshedding-Bunnies-Right-Handed-Bemix/dp/B01DKUNXNW/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1484410157&sr=8-4&keywords=dog+glove+brush) brush similar to that one, a wire slicker brush with the little nubs on the ends of the wires, a bristle brush and use a [shampoo brush] (https://www.amazon.com/KONG-ZoomGroom-Grooming-Brush-Raspberry/dp/B0002AR1A0/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1484410237&sr=8-3&keywords=dog+shampoo+brush) to help lather in shampoo and remove loose hairs.

About bathing it's dependent on the shampoo and the dog's skin and coat. Some people rarely ever bathe their dogs while some bathe theirs every few weeks. You may want to discuss it with your vet to see what they think is healthy for your dogs. A month or so in between baths isn't bad at all, if its been working for you there isn't a real reason to switch it up.

Rubber pet hair brushes (like this) work really well too. I have one couch that is the black fabric that traps the hairs on and the vacuum just can't get, but the brush totally gets them all (and because it's black I can see every hair that is on it). I use it like a broom and sweep them all in a pile and then vacuum the loosened pile. Its very easy on fabric but grips the hair well.

I use it on my clothes as well. Not as good as sticky rolls, but I also mostly use it on my exercise/yoga pants and those suckers are the worst for hair. Even the lint roller doesn't work very well on them. I always work out looking like the crazy pet lady covered in hair :(

I need to start brushing my dogs more! My room/house is a mess (I have two short haired dogs and two long haired ones) but they hate when I do and I hate when they do it! I've been meaning to get something like this in hopes that it will make them fight me less when I brush them!
