TL:DR- Save money by fapping, looking at /r/DIY_eJuice for recipes, buying shit, playing chemist, and fapping some more while then vaping your creation. $66 for ~400ml, only to get cheaper overtime.

As a broke college student, I jumped in to save money. Skip using syringes to measure volume; just mix by weight. I use Ecigexpress for a good portion of my purchases. Prices will be based off of them.

  1. Fap. A lot. Or give handjobs if that's your thing. I promise this important. If you're lame awesome, you can also buy a shake weight.

  2. Look for recipes you like on the /r/DIY_Ejuice subreddit. You can either look at the top posts, or search for juices you like. There might be a clone, or a clone attempt.

  3. Buy your supplies. The startup can be a little expensive, but IMHO is worth it in the long run.

  • Flavorings- Start with the smaller 10ml sizes unless you know you'll use them a ton (menthol, koolada, sweetener, etc). Those might run you about.... $3-$5 depending. Say you start with ten flavors (you might not have to, but up to you), then you're at $30-$50 for flavoring.
  • VG/PG- Unless you want max VG, I'd recommend buying both separately. 250MLish of each each should be enough for you to decide if DiY is your calling. 250 ml of PG and 250ml of VG will run you $5.29 a piece, so round up and call it $11 for your PG/VG base.
  • Nicotine- Fuck whatever you've heard. Buy 36 mg/ml in a 50/50 PG/VG blend. Higher strength might lead to more flavor, but IMHO not worth the risk at all. Ive been using 36 mg/ml for seven months, and I have no complaints, and I haven't died if when I spill the nicotine. Win win. Also, you want 50/50 as a max thickness to avoid any "hotspots" (uneven strength of the nicotine) after shaking. There's a debate on where to buy your nic from, but for my uses ECX wins with price. Haven't had anything of super high quality, but I've had zero complaints with the four or five batches I've ordered from them. 30ml of 50/50 36 mg/ml strength nic will run $5.
  • Gram scale- for mixing by weight. Make sure it's accurate down to the 0.00 grams range. The other thing to look at is the max capacity. The smaller ones will have a lower capacity, thus gigantic batches won't be able to be made, but if you're going for 30-60ml, this has never been an issue for my 200g scale. Found it on Amazon for $14 Though I'd check /r/DIY_eJuice for their list of recommended scales should you be able to find a better one.
  • Bottles- You can reuse the ones you have currently after a good wash, or buy your own. I wouldn't recommend buying these 30ml cobalt dropper bottles due to the fact that they leak like a bitch, never really close securely, and the fact that they doubled in price since I bought them.If you need new bottles, I'm sure you could find a dozen or so bottles for $6ish or so. EDIT- Found these. 30ml glass bottles- $0.70/ each. 30ml standard plastic dripping bottle- $0.39/each.
** Glass Pros- Holds less flavor after a wash, also some say they don't leech the chemicals plastics to, and mess up your flavor. Cons- More expensive, marginally not as convenient as plastic bottles for dripping/refilling a tank. Plastic: Somewhat easier to seal, and cheaper than glass. Cons- Potential leeching of chemicals that may mess up your juice after extended storage. I've personally never experienced anything noticeable, but to each their own.
  • Total of $66+ (plus $25 for your very own Shakeweight) or so, but YMMV. For ~400 ml that you can fine tune to your liking. This cost will decrease if you continue, as you probably won't have to buy another scale or more bottles for a while unless you really want to.

  1. Mix! Here's my go to mixing calculator. Not as 'advanced' as some of the other ones, but fuck it. It's simple, but provides a great layout to grow into. Go make yourself an account while you're waiting for your ingredients, and play around with it a bit. Hell, here's a fan friend/roomate favorite of mine. If you like root beer, I guarantee you'll like this. Three ingredients, and super simple. You can edit to add your preferred nicotine strength and/or final PG/VG ratio. EDIT: Banana nut bread that's also a friend favorite. Even easier.

  • Mixing process- After finding a recipe you want to make, and getting your supplies in, shake the fuck out of all your ingredients, especially your nicotine. If the recipe isn't already on the calculator, put everything in yourself (flavor and percent), making sure to identify your nic strength, the PG/VG ratio of your nic, and the desired PG/VG ratio of your juice.
  • Put your bottle on your scale, zero it out.
  • Shake each flavor again. A lot. Put all that fapping to good use.
  • Add each flavor to the corresponding weight (in grams) according to the calculator. MAKE SURE TO SHAKE EACH FLAVOR BEFORE ADDING IT TO THE BOTTLE I start with the nic, then flavors, then VG/PG. I don't really thing there's a right way, but that's been my system.

    Close your bottle.

Shake the fuck out of it again. See how important masturbation is to training for this?

  • The mixing process really only takes 5-10 minutes, it's not that bad once you get it down. Promise.

  1. Vape/steep!- Whew! That was a bit of effort! But if you find this interesting for one reason another, I will confirm it can be VERY rewarding. If it sounds like too much work for little yield, then so be it. I'd still recommend giving it a shot.

  2. Enjoy! Feel free to message me or SEARCH /r/DIY_eJuice if you have any questions. Always would love to help someone else.

    Edit: Words.

Here is what I wrote out for this other guy,

Check our /r/diy_ejuice[1] great community lots of info and recipes!

Order the nicotine and your STARTER flavorings from https://wizardlabs.us[2]

Order either 60 or 100mg pg based(if you aren't allergic) nicotine for math reasons, they both calculate pretty even. Also the 100mg one will last a lot longer but it kind of depends on what is in stock.

For the flavors it's best to order your beginning ones there too until you know what you like, because they sell like same size ones for $1.99 (prob about enough for 80-140 milliliters depending on your preferred flavor %
once I knew what I wanted I started ordering from high desert vapes
https://highdesertvapes.com/categories/DIY/[3]
(they resell flavorings so you get a GOOD discount)

P. S. On HDV ellas=capellas (you have to order ellas sweet strawberry, my most ordered and one of my faves. I also recommend fruit stripe gum, but I forgot who made it it's a newer one I just picked up!)

Don't forget to order syringes and I accidentally ordered a shit ton of size 14 needles for them and it's really hard to pull up VG since it's so thick so get a bigger one for that. Also make sure before you use them that you put tape over the numbers because they will come off really fast if you don't.

I actually buy all of my PG and VG locally Walmart sells VG (if you are interested let me know and I'll send you a pic of what the bottle looks like) but it's in the skin ointment aisle.

Tractor supply company sells a gallon of PG for $23 best deal ever. I'm never running out! Lol
You'll need bottles as well (way more expensive than you'd think, there are some cheapish options on Amazon for like 50 10ml bottles.

that is what I use now

Download the program ejuicemeup that's your calculator. Love it.

Uhm.... I'm probably forgetting something any questions, just ask.

Edit: holy novel

Edit 2: I remembered something else, try and get familiar with the list of flavors known to crack tanks
http://discountvapers.com/liquids-and-tanks/[6]

Edit 3:links!

REAL EDIT: formatting, I usually use capellas but there are certain flavors that certain people do better. I'd say Capellas = fruit FW = dessert TFA = candy like Lorannes = Fruit candy like

and steeping I am really lazy and don't wait to vape and it still tastes pretty good. I'll make about 15 ml and it will just get better and better as it goes :D

I actually can't compare since I was an early adapter to DIY and I didn't ever ger into ordering juices online. I can tell you everyone I've let try it so far has LOVED it. you may want to tweak it a little for your own preferences like if you want it a little more cinnamon-y or a little sweeter but each person likes things a little different

u/squired · 5 pointsr/DIY_eJuice

Have you already ordered?

If not, I would also recommend Capella's Cool Mint (3.5% as a pairing, ~1% as a component). It is a very sweet mint that also adds body to mixes; almost like a mint honey. It is good to have on hand and would work well with several of your proposed recipes. That's different than say Gorilla Mint which is the straight-up mint you know in Mojitos or Inawera Shisha Fresh Mint that gives a dry but tasty cooling effect (not koolada) with little to no flavor (think TVC's Frosty/"Cool" juices).

One of the most common intermediate questions here is "How do I give my juices body?" Cool Mint is one of the flavors that does that well. Passion and stone fruits often have the same effect at very low levels, as can /u/Mercy404's suggestion of Strawberry Ripe in the right mix (which opens a whole other conversation on popular flavors vs affects).

You may also get some sucralose. It is a different type of sweetener and some people prefer it. It is harder on your coils, but it doesn't mute the flavors like EM. I use them both for different recipes.

[edit] - On the sweetener subject... I'd suggest using them at first. Building sweetness and body is really difficult. I don't consider any recipe complete until it is absent of sweeteners, but they certainly make them more enjoyable for regular vaping until you find those last 'special' bits.

_____

Second, you are going to want A LOT of bottles. Just trust me. One of your primary concerns when starting should be to make mixing fast, fun, and extremely low maintenance. A big-ass bag of new bottles is an excellent, cheap step in that direction. Down the road you may want fancy Cobalt, but something like this is perfect to start.

___

Lastly, I do not see a scale in your order. I HIGHLY recommend you begin mixing by weight. I can't stress that enough. It is probably the single most important factor in how much you will enjoy mixing and the likelihood that you'll stick with the hobby. I have been mixing a long while and I've used all the different methods. Mixing by weight is soooo much nicer. It is faster, easier, more accurate, and there is zero cleanup. Most people will tell you that they started mixing more often once they switched. I personally found myself wandering away from the hobby until the switch. I had become tired of the cleanup and mess. Now it is pure joy again.

It is also cheaper than your alternative hardware budget. Even if you brush off everything above, please, buy a cheap scale.

u/Ryuuzaki_L · 1 pointr/DIY_eJuice

Get these bottles here:

Extremely cheap and perfect for your first batches. You will make a lot of juices you don't like. I went through so many bottles and these are perfect for it. They aren't the most amazing bottles, but I haven't had any leak, and they suit my needs.

I of course use amber glass boston round for recipes I have worked on for a long time. But those do great for a newbie. (Also worth noting, I did add a few glass bottles in with my Wizard Labs order so I had them for my favorite mixes.)

They also make 30mL ones if you want a set of them for your ADV mixes too if you're on a budget. Keep in mind that they take about a month to ship, so I would order them in advance.

On a side note, if you are ordering small amounts of flavor to test for your first time, if they happen to be TFA, try to get them from your Wizard Labs order. Wizard Labs sells TFA flavors as well, but they are actually cheaper to get from Wizard Labs than TFA themselves. (Only at the smallest size that is, TFA is cheaper if buying 1-4oz).

Other than that, I would get my PG/VG from Essential Depot. Wizard Labs gets it from there and just rebottles it. It is cheaper from Essential Depot, not to mention its very good quality.

edit: In fact, I spent about $150 in my first order. You can see copies of my orders here: http://imgur.com/a/k6x1U

I honestly wouldn't change too much other than maybe getting more 1mL syringes. Also, flavor is subject to taste, so you will most likely pick the same flavors as me haha. I am very happy with my first order. I had a great selections of flavors, and still do. I have since only ordered 4oz bottles of the mixes I ended up making that have become ADVs. I still have tons of PG, VG, Nicotine, and a lot of the 4mL-8mL flavors left.

In the future however, I would love to move to mixing by weight. I'm getting my calculator all set up with correct weights of all my liquids so I can make the transition very easily after that. Syringes are a bit of an annoyance to clean and maintain. Mixing by weight will solve that, not to mention it is more accurate, and faster.

u/hupa · 2 pointsr/electronic_cigarette

I got my stuff in 18 days ago, and its been fantastic. I ended up spending ~$120, but I figured if I was going to do it I might as well do it right. Got a quart of PG and VG, bottles, gloves (definitely get gloves), nic, lots of syringes. Got different flavorings from wizardlabs. (You can see a list and some links here.) If you get bottles, this is a great deal.

Anyhow, not too far in, but I've been loving it. Make whatever concentration nic juice I want, been mixing small batches and still have a long ways to go. Its going to take forever to try different combinations, but I made a menthol strawberry last night that kicks some ass. Its nice having pretty much unlimited supply and being able to just try something out, and if it doesn't taste good its np because its cheap as hell.

Anyway, if you root around on /r/DIY_eJuice you'll prolly see that you should start with small % of flavor, but if you miss that, here it is again. I've been doing ~5-6% flavor and its pretty nice. I'm sure people have different tastes, and certain flavors may come out better at different concentrations, but start low and work your way up so you stay sensitive to them!

edit: got a dripping atomizer too, but I find that setting up an RBA with a tiny wick works best for trying new flavors. You only get a couple hits per drip, but you can just try burn it to clean out the juice.

u/wonderful_wonton · 3 pointsr/AsianBeauty

No, I don't. My skin is not very sensitive at all and can even put it full strength on my face (in small spots). What I do is have a little vial of some essential oils that are mostly full strength and after I put on rosehip, squalane or other oil, I will put some on my hands, rub them together & pat/spread them on my face really thinly over the existing oil layer. I could do something more careful, like mix it in advance, but that would take more time & planning.

I have about 3 vials of essential oil blends that I'm using for for different skin care concerns right now:

  • for elasticity: coffee bean oil, ylang ylang, blackberry, and vanilla (to make it smell like a real perfume mix), and I have some dill seed oil coming
  • for skin firming & conditioning: lavender, frankincense, rose geranium + some citrus (grapefruit peel, bitter orange peel, bergamot, neroli, etc)
  • and now I have added one for blemishes: tea tree oil, rosemary, lavender, thyme, plus whatever other skin conditioning antiseptic EO I can find

I think you can always mix it in your hand, tho. Like put tea tree or whatever other oil in your hand and then add about 5-10x times as much carrier oil, like rosehip or squalane to it.

I make cosmetics like an Italian mother cooks, & don't really measure anything (except for bakuchiol oil blends because that can burn your face like 100% retinol). It's all based on doing what I need that day as quickly as possible.

These 1/4 ounce vials are really handy if you wanted to mix up some facial essential oils in advance. They're also great for havingn travel size serums & lotions on trips or in a gym kit
u/austinp02 · 2 pointsr/Warhammer40k

Ha, I get questions about this any time I post something. The rack is from Back2base-ix they have all sorts of good stuff. Not the cheapest solution but it really is amazing for organizing the hobby area and adding some aesthetics to the area (which helps spark my creativity a lot personally). It does ship from the UK so expect some time for delivery and be aware that since it is acrylics there is always the small chance of damage. I had a tiny crack in one of the drawers that I just glued back together as it wasn't worth it to try and return/exchange.
The dropper bottles can be found on Amazon and Ebay. I pre-thin my GW paints to brush thickness and then transfer them to the droppers. So much easier for using a wet pallet and also for mixing into the airbrush. Hope that helps!

u/buckydean · 1 pointr/whiskyinventory

Nice collection man. Interested in Aberlour 12, Amrut Fusion, Balcones Single Malt, and Laddie 16. Afraid I don't have any of your ISO's, but here's my inventory. Lemme know if you like anything in there, I could work with you a bit.

EDIT: ok, checked you out a little and I see you're pretty new to not just this, but the whole Reddit thing. Forgive me if I'm telling you anything you already know. I'm talking 2 oz sample sample swaps, we use these around here. And just so you know since you're new you would be sending yours first, then I'd send my end of the swap after recieving yours. We've all started this way. If you're who you say you are, and your collection is legit, I'd love to try me some of that Laddie 16 and Amrut! Hopefully I got something you wanna try.

u/DustForVomit · 3 pointsr/DIY_eJuice

I just picked up 100 30ml LDPE bottles with child proof caps and dropper tops (those awesome thin needle tip ones that fit in the bottom fill port of the kayfun lite), for $30 (plus something like $6 shipping). Heartland Vapes has some pretty good pricing.

I also recently picked up 50 15ml LDPE bottles with dropper tips and caps for $14.00 from Amazon. It's awesome if you have prime.

u/OysterVase · 6 pointsr/researchchemicals

Amazon! You can find packs of 12/24/48/etc. vials / amber bottles for extremely cheap. You can also get very cheap (in a good way, they're all high quality) nasal sprayers, as well. I have SOOOO many left over amber bottles and such.

Here are some examples!

1oz Amber Bottles 12pk

Same thing, but 2oz.

12 Amber Vials with Droppers

Larger Clear Round Pyrex bottle

2ml amber dram bottles (these also come in 24-36+ counts, too

...and there's so much more! Amazon is a goldmine for research materials in my experience! Hope I could help!

u/jixie007 · 8 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

The square containers are sauce bottles for bento boxes. Here on Amazon. I used the smallest ones (5ml), but each size fits in the tin depending on what else you have in there.

I recommend getting a tiny funnel, the openings for these are quite small, I ended up having to cut up a pipette to make a funnel. :P

The foundation is in an 3ml eye dropper. Here's an example from Amazon, although I've also seen these on Etsy, an in REI. I got mine from US Plastics but it was with a larger order, so not sure on the shipping if you're just getting droppers. Larger 6ml bottles also fit in there (that is what's in the old version of the kit).

The droppers work well with liquids. It's perfect for the foundation. They do not work well with thicker creams, and ironically, the hand sanitizer always clogged up because of the little beads.

Another option I've seen is to use a contact lens case. It's more readily available and water-tight. But it takes up more room and holds less.

u/Vandiyan · 7 pointsr/Warhammer40k

I can type up what I did really quickly.

  1. Ensure your dropper bottle is clean, the top is off, and this is over a stable surface. Also ensure the surface is easily cleaned if there is a spill. I have a glass desk I use as my hobby station, yet for those who don't do what you feel you need to.

  2. Use a funnel so that you can pour out and capture as much paint as possible.

  3. Open up the GW paint and add in some medium to thin it as much as you feel you need to. I do this to get it the consistency that Duncan has and then pour it out into the bottle.

  4. Once the paint has been transferred put the GW container to the side, remove the funnel, cap and close the dropper bottle, and you are done! If you want to remember what kind of paint it was just peel off the GW paint label and put it on the outside of the dropper bottle.

Hope this helps anyone who is interested in using dropper bottles.
u/Mr-Good · 2 pointsr/DIY_eJuice

I buy mine on Amazon Prime. I probably pay a few bucks extra but I like Amazon and I love my free two day shipping.

u/Catski1 · 2 pointsr/fountainpens

I think most of the people here have answered the questions. I'd only say, if you're flying a lot, that having one of the plastic eye droppers is a very good alternative.
I used to work in a pharmacy.

https://www.amazon.com/Leegoal-Dropper-Bottle-Plastic-Liquid/dp/B00DS2B6GE

Or.
http://www.freundcontainer.com/plastic-child-resistant-dropper-bottles/c/643/

There's a brand I'm missing here, but you get the basic idea. I just worry about glass breaking, not that plastic is indestructible mind you.

Anyhow. If your flying don't forget to wrap your bottle in a quality ziploc bag or two. And some pens need you to relieve air pressure (Pilot 823) in them to prevent the inky mess.

Best of luck. Hope that this one works for you. Cheers.

u/Hutobega · 2 pointsr/ageofsigmar

Why yes I did except for a few technical paints. I took a solid day to do and it's not that hard though in my case many of my paints were harder and needed severe watering down so right now they are not in the best of shape BUT if you'rs are in good shape should be no problem!

Here is what I used:

https://www.amazon.com/Plastic-Dropper-dropping-Bottles-Removable/dp/B00V479TVE/ref=sr_1_20?crid=3AH1GI9Q6GALS&keywords=dropper%2Bbottle&qid=1555967511&s=gateway&sprefix=dropper%2B%2Caps%2C166&sr=8-20&th=1

https://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Miniature-Essential-Super-Outlet/dp/B078Z9LWDW/ref=sr_1_6?crid=1PK6V6O4TN4HG&keywords=small+funnel&qid=1555967555&s=gateway&sprefix=small+funel%2Caps%2C165&sr=8-6

And you can throw in stainless steel ball bearings as a mixer as well but I got a bad batch that ended up rusting cause it was a lie lmao. But the bottles and the funnel are the only items you really need. For getting paint out you could get nice metal scrapping tools to help with the process.

Like I said it takes time but was worth it when I did it.

u/webwright · 2 pointsr/cocktails

I am surprised at how quickly they thaw. Maybe 15min to slushy-but-pourable, depending on sugar content? Microwaving can speed it up in a pinch. Unsure if the reheating impacts flavor, but I haven't noticed any change.

The bottles were just what I got when I searched on Amazon for "glass 4oz bottles". I got the brown ones because they felt classier, but I kinda feel that clear might be better to see how full they are and what's inside (by color).

https://www.amazon.com/Amber-Glass-Boston-Bottles-Ribbed/dp/B000AV16H0/

I just bought PSA maple veneer, but birch is cheaper.
https://www.amazon.com/White-Veneer-Rotary-Premium-Adhesive/dp/B00VES1I6C

The big trick is a laser cutter, which sometimes are available for use at schools, and some towns have makerspaces. If you happen to pull stuff together, I'd happily hit you with the files to make whatever labels you want (if you like my design). Wouldn't take me but 5 minutes! You could also grab a Cricut (https://home.cricut.com/) which is a razor blade cutter than can cut vinyl sticker stock (much cheaper).

u/caravaggibro · 2 pointsr/Sommelier

Best gift you'll give him is a helping out with quizzing/blind tasting. But! Something I found remarkably helpful are small amber bottles for tastings. You can break up one bottle of wine into a few days worth, and it makes it easier to do blind tastings if you don't have somebody pouring for you, as you can write the info on the bottom, mix them up, and then go for it.

For soap I use little micro dipper bottles like these: https://www.amazon.com/Mini-Dropper-Bottles-Natural-Clear/dp/B00EZIPEVI but any little bottle will do.

You will dry off quickly in the sun and wind. Also, you are unlikely to swim all that much. The water is super cold.

Tent bag? Just stuff your tent into your pack. A bag can be nice for organization sake but get a lighter one if that's important.

I'm a sucker for sampler packs, I'll order anything if it's available as a sample. Maybe you could offer samples in little plastic bottles?

Also if you started off looking for a substitute to Alts-Innsbruck and you feel you made one that's even better than the original then don't you offer it on your Etsy store? I have the A-I pre/post shave oil emulsion and love to use it especially if I've had a rough shave. I like the smell and would definitely try an after-shave splash version.

u/EEGRS · 2 pointsr/DIY_eJuice

Let's see.. my 5ml sampler bottles are these from FastTech though similar ones can be found elsewhere. The problem with those is that the needle is too small for 50/50 liquids when used to fill a tank. I haven't been able to find these needle tip bottles with, say, a 16 or 18 gauge. But I only use these small 5ml guys for testing (read: dripping) so they work just fine (no need to dispense 1-2ml at a time).

I've also got a ton of vktech bottles via Amazon. I couldn't pass these up for 12-15 cents each. They're not high quality, but they get the job done. The dropper plugs flow very well and they can be easily modified for faster flow (dispensing VG). They aren't great for filling tanks with the larger than normal tip, though. Quite a few people have received unusable, poor quality bottles, but I think that has a lot to do with the source. The ones I bought were "shipped and sold" by vktech, though you'll notice other sellers on that Amazon page - there must be a range of quality available from these different sellers. All the reviews get lumped together, adding uncertainty.

My favorite plastic bottles for normal use are these from Heartland Vapes. It's all about the plastic needle tip on those - so nice for filling tanks with smallish fill ports. I believe the plastic bottles that Wizard Labs carries currently also have this plastic needle tip, though it's not reflected in their photos. You can also find this style of tip over on FastTech. If they fit your existing bottles well, a nice retrofit. Though the longer tip will probably hinder your existing overcaps.

u/RodBlaine · 2 pointsr/modelmakers

Ok, while I support the responses you got from others, you seem to still need a solution to your dilemma.

Your description seems to be the paint drying before it hits the plastic. Perfect is the paint dries shortly after it hits the plastic.

You likely have too much thinner, and need a retarder to slow down the drying. It takes very little (like 2% by volume) and it makes a huge difference. Another option is to use Mr Color Leveling Thinner as it has a retarder already in it.

Mix separate from your paints. I premix in a dropper bottle so I can put as much as I need for each job.

u/Apexified · 1 pointr/DIY_eJuice

Good advice. I just did that a few weeks ago to add to my stock of NicSelect and VapersTek chillin in the freezer. Vape Clarity is better quality than NicSelect and a much better price than VapersTek while being on par for quality.

Nice find! I was actually looking around for bottles like that recently and somehow missed those.

On the other hand, I found these... which are really sexy.

u/JoshGiff · 1 pointr/minipainting

I used these bottles. They're holding up really well. I added flow aid and airbrush thinner to the pots after I transferred as much as I could undiluted. Ended up putting around 20 or so drops of each into the pots and transferring the remainder of the paint that way. I didn't use a funnel cause I didn't want to have to clean it between paints. It took around 6 hours to do but the dropper tops can be easily removed to add more paint in the future as needed. It has really been a time saver.

u/npersa1 · 4 pointsr/PacificCrestTrail

So, first: Hike your own hike. That applies to a lot of things, including gear. If you're looking for the "best" of any item, you can ask 10 hikers and get 10 different answers.

That said, there's one thing I swear by: bleach. Forget all those other purifying contraptions and gimmicky ways to quench your thirst. A small eye dropper of bleach will last a lot of miles, it will almost certainly cut your pack weight and possibly even be easier and quicker than your current method of making water. And, to top it off, bleach is inexpensive and widely available in stores.

How it works:

  • Use plain bleach (nothing scented or such).
  • I used two drops of bleach per 1 liter of water, shake and wait 30 minutes, following directions from the EPA Note: some sources suggest using as much as 5 drops of bleach per 1 liter of water
  • I carried an eye dropper filled with bleach. A lot of water was clear enough to scoop directly into a water bottle, drop in bleach, shake and watch 30 minutes. If the water had stuff in it, we'd scoop dirty water into a pot and then filter through a bandana into a water bottle.

Pro tip: Buy a handful of eye dropper LINK bottles. Mail fresh bottles ahead in resupplies that way you can replace anything that gets damaged. Be sure to label "Bleach" on your bottle so no one gets goofy with it.

I also think it's generally a good idea to have the means to purify water in two ways. For instance, if your Sawyer breaks, it'd be a good idea to have a dropper of bleach available. If your eye dropper springs a hole, it'd be helpful to have iodine, a UV pen, a Sawyer, etc. (even a second bottle of bleach!).

u/smalltransitorylife · 4 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Seconding the other commenter's suggesting dupes! I do this for the gym because the gym is my boyfriend. I bought a load of tiny containers (these and these on Amazon) and had a really fun time decanting and labeling everything and so far they work great!

u/CHAINMAILLEKID · 2 pointsr/longboarding

Thats nothing.
You can fix that easily.

Get one of these needle applicator bottles

Get some Titebond 2 or Titebond 3, and thin it out with 5%-10% water. Mix it in like a paper cup with a popcicle stick or something before you put it in the applicator bottle.

With the applicator bottle squeeze as much as you can deep into the crack. You may want to use a pin or something to try and poke as much down into the crack as you can.

Doesn't look like there's exactly a good way to clamp this particular crack, so I wouldn't worry about it unless you think you have an idea how to do it.

Clean up excess with a damp paper towel, and let dry 24 hours.

u/Whydoyouhatefreedom · 3 pointsr/flyfishing

I went to a Vo-Ag high school where we had an entomology class for river and stream management (yes, we went on fishing field trips!!). We would go to the local tail waters with a net like this and would stick it in the water down stream of us and kick around the rocks and let everything flow in to the net. Then we would put the insects in vials like these, which allowed us to study them. You can even fill them with formaldehyde and bring them with you to make a permanent collection. If you used the links to buy those items you’ll save a ton of money that you can spend on tying materials etc. That’s just my 2 cents.

Edit to add: this net is more suitable

yeah, i ordered about 100 last time, got like 40 left. I also got some nail polish agitators which work in these well enough. I just ordered another 250 agitators as I need to add them to my Vallejo and Army painter paints. Plus there's some paints where the consistency makes me want to toss like 2 in.

They aren't perfect - I largely discard the lower ring that the cap is attached to. Also sometimes the caps are fused and might need to be cut free. So your likely going to loose like 4-5 to attrition. Plan accordingly. 15ml should be sufficient, I believe the other companies are using 17ml for theirs. Also don't fill it past the upper area. To make life easier I also processed all the caps, put the tips in a baggie, then put agitators in all the bottles and capped them. This makes bottling stuff later pretty easy.

I've found I don't use my GW & PP paints nearly as much as my Reaper paints (yay kickstarter), simply because of form factor. So I bought these: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00V2C0C7Q/

I'm slowly migrating my paints to droppers this way. When I want to use a color I have from GW / PP, I pour the bottle in. I'm sure I'm wasting some because I can't pour it all out, but I'm actually using them again. So yay!

u/xxtidariusxx · 5 pointsr/Vaping

all it takes is a bit of simple math. you can buy everything you need aside from the liquid nicotine on amazon. i myself use 100%vg juice so i dont buy pg at all but a large bottle of vg will run you about 20 to 25 dollars, 1 gallon for me is 22 at the moment. you can also find packs of empty bottles for around 10 bucks, then youll need measuring syringes for mixing, flavor drops and the nicotine all of which are linked below.

i would just mix small batches first if you arent sure what a juice would taste like after your done then mix a full bottle, this way you can experiment with flavor mixes and see what you can create.

for a 100 ml bottle its really easy youll just need to figure out how much nic to put in, i vape at 6% nic so i measure out 94 ml of vg and the last remaining 6 ml i put in as the nicotine, after that the base is done, then just drop in the flavor drops, shake it like crazy, let it settle for a bit and boom juice done.

there are also some sites out there with premade mixture recipes that you can find and follow

I've had this set of 30ml and the 2014 version of this set of 15ml for over two years now, and haven't had a problem with either. They've stayed sealed and haven't dried out, no issues with either the tips or the lids. I would recommend the ones I bought from Amazon. I may have gotten really lucky, but so far, so good.

u/ze_hombre · 9 pointsr/trees

That's actually where the trees go. It's a little plastic jar sort of like these. I wanted the trees to be in something airtight. That way smell and freshness aren't an issue. The actual dugout part on the side is for other stuff like edibles, papers, etc. It could be used like a dugout in the more traditional sense if I wanted to, but 3d printed items have small imperfections that let moisture (and therefore smells) through. Plus the general consent is printer filament isn't food grade so I felt it was prudent to keep the two separate.

I also used these funnels:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07BH34G49?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_title

I am testing these ball bearings as agitators. I am soaking a few of them in salt water to see if they corrode. So far they have held up.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B007IK9VNM?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_title

Edit: I used a mix of distilled water and Vallejo thinner medium in a 9 drops of water to one(sometimes two) drop of thinner ratio.

Just add the thinner medium and the drops of water to the pot along with 2 ball bearings. Shake it up and pour it into the dropper via the funnel. Try and find something to brace the dropper if you can. You don't want it tipping over halfway through the pour. When the pot is mostly cleared out add those 2 bearing to the dropper bottle as an agitator.

The citadel labels peel right off and I put them on the dropper bottle and it looks pretty fancy. If only Citadel would make my life easier and put the paint in a dropper at the paint plant 😂.

It doesn't take very long to transfer a paint so you can get a lot of them done in a short amount of time.

that way i can mix drop for drop. If it is not in one i usually just eyeball it. Sometimes use droppers, or just pour it out of the jar. Never really had a problem. After a bit of painting/experience you'll be able to eyeball it.

The only time you should have have color consistency problems is if you are mixing a custom color. Otherwise you should be fine. I usually mix half a cup and just keep add/mixing more in my cup as i go til i finish the project.

2nd. I usually always mix it in the cup by putting a paper towel lightly over the tip. This should cause bubbles to go back into the cup and mix the paint. (this can get messy it you have a lot of paint in the cup.

If you are using acrylics, i would suggest you getting a retardant or a flow aid. This will slow the dry time and decrease tip drying. This is insanely helpful with some acrylics. They also make retardant for lacquers ect. Just make sure you have the correct one, acrylics is the most useful.

This is a copied comment on paint thinning from a previous post of mine:

Here's what I do. It saves paint and gets a nice paint consistency.

Buy some 30ml dropper bottles (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0026K1YCK/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_hY2ryb932CQ8S)

Fill a dropper with distilled water (available at most grocery stores)

I use a piece of poster board cut into small 6"X4" "pallettes"

I put down a drop (two max) of paint. If using paint that isn't in droppers it's usually a brushfull or so... Or you can move your paint into the dropper bottles mentioned above)

I then put down an equal amount of water right on top of the paint and mix until it's all combined, try to avoid too much spreading around on the paper to minimize wasted paint.

Each time I draw paint onto my brush from the paper I then wipe a bit of it off on the paper to make sure my brush isn't over loaded.

The paper pallettes are nice because you never have to mess with cleaning them. Use the paint you need and when the sheet is full throw it out (or sometimes you can even flip it over and use the back to get a little more life out of them)

Order some alprazolam powder from Oxymorpheus (evo... he's my go to guy, might be out of stock for a week or 2 though) or JimmyTheGent (spelling? but heard good things about his stuff) and volumetrically dose it into a solution of PG (http://www.amazon.com/Propylene-Glycol-Food-Grade-Quart/dp/B005PZBRUC/) in a dropper bottle (http://www.amazon.com/Vktech-10ml-Dropper-Bottles-Plastic/dp/B00D2MPVUM/) so that one drop = 1 mg or whatever you prefer.... I believe there is a FAQ on volumetrically dosing on /r/drugs (sorry I'm lazy you can find it yourself using that search thingy haha).

I transfer all of my flavorings in to 1oz glass dropper bottles. My VG, PG, and nic are transferred to 8oz squeeze bottles so I can easily add it to my mixes. There's no waste, nothing to clean up, and I can make a 20ml batch in just a couple minutes and a 125ml batch in only a couple minutes more.

For recipe calculation I just use an Excel sheet where I have every flavor's specific gravity referenced for use in a formula to automatically adjust for my batch size.

I really don't think it could get any easier than this.

There are a few options on amazon.ca or the 2 oz option here. That is if you don't mind splitting the last bits of the bottle up...

I use needle tip bottles similar to these

u/Razzafrachen · 2 pointsr/whisky

They're called Boston Rounds in the US. They come in various sizes and are commonly used in swaps and splits. Similar options exist in Europe

What about these?

These are the ones I use.

Don't know what the cap is made of and haven't tried to PC one yet.

No worries - I've got your Octomore poured. Check out my open inventory and let me know if you see anything else you'd like as a swap for 2 samples of the Kavalan. If not, I'm good just doing the singles. Inventory: https://redd.it/5i7zpv

As for the sample bottles, here's the stuff I use: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JL61KNE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_ep_dp_ApXyyb4Z45MK5

When filling, only fill to the bottom of the neck (just below where the thread starts, and tighten that cap well. You can also use this stuff to put over the top of the cap: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005KDF3X6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_ep_dp_OqXyyb0D6A5EN

ha no doubt. I ended up pouring VG into plastic 30 ml bottles I found on amazon
http://www.amazon.com/Plastic-Dropping-Bottles-30ml-pack/dp/B0026K1YCK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1419125565&sr=8-1&keywords=30+ml+bottles

And pour mine into a syringe upside down instead of messing with a blunt tip. That was taking forever.

It's not supposed to happen.

No that's an airless pump. Exactly what I would not recommend based on my initial comment and this thread. here is what I mean!

u/MarsHuntress · 2 pointsr/researchchemicals

I use a 30ml (1oz) dropper bottle. Recipe:

•put 4ml propylene glycol into bottle

•add 1g 4F

•put thumb over bottle opening and shake vigorously until completely smooth, with no lumps. Might take a minute.

1 drop is 5mg. Shake well every time before use (product will settle out).
