Top Reddit comments about Elbow Braces:

Definitely pad up. At least some knee pads. I thought I was too cool for that when I started back up a couple months ago and now I have a solid lump on my left knee that doesn’t really show signs of going away. Nothing hurts I’m pretty sure it’s just from falling on it... A LOT. I got some triple eight kp22 ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000ASZAA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_hPbjDbP3MBRNQ ) and they fit pretty slim for a hard shell. Fits ubder shorts well. I think the size I got is to small for me over pants (I’m. 5’10 170 lbs, average build and I got a size L), but under shorts is perfect! I also wear some slip on elbow pads ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XOQR7NK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_PKbjDbDEMR24F ) they’ve saved me for sure on a couple slams and You basically forget they are there. Happy rolling man! Welcome back!

Thank you for the reply, I appreciate it. The shampoo that I have and linked Malaseb, I'm pretty sure it's an anitibiotic shampoo , it says on the bottle "Shampoo combines a unique formulation of antibacterial and antifungal agents with coat conditioners for optimal therapeutic effectiveness."

I know it had very good reviews and it isn't cheap, but do you think this would work on the callus? Also, what cream would you recommend? And afterwards should I put something like this over his elbow? http://www.amazon.com/Bird-Cronin-08141425-Cradle-Lite-Protector/dp/B00QKNS328/ref=pd_sim_121_4?ie=UTF8&dpID=31fTOsc2UEL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR85%2C160_&refRID=1WN8TPMW38X1X2RF6GE5

Or is it better to let it breath out?

u/DissheveledMadness · 1 pointr/bodybuilding

I use these almost every day for upper body training and I really like them. Good compression, and warmth. I use XL and I’m 5’10”, 6 foot wingspan, and 16-16.5 inch arms and it’s a good fit

u/elektroesthesia · 2 pointsr/ehlersdanlos

I have compression braces for ankles, knees and elbows, all of which I bought with approval from my therapists (OT and PT) from Amazon (link, link, link) They help me feel more stable without limiting my RoM too much. I also have hard braces for wrists that OT made for me, I'm hoping after my tendinosis heals a little that I can switch to something softer like a compression glove or something.

I use this every time I play now and it has essentially eliminated my tennis elbow. You may want to change the gauge of string you play with too or add a vibration dampener or two. Make sure you’re following through on all your shots, forehand and backhand. Check your grip size, with your hand gripping the handle you should have a pointer finger sized space between your fingers and thumb.
If any of these things are off it can lead to tennis elbow quickly. Hope this helps!

u/hesoneholyroller · 3 pointsr/bjj

I'm a huge fan of Bauerfeind, I use their Sport Knee support brace and its been a god send. Super flexible and breathable, with a ton of support for my very unstable knee. They have the same type of brace for elbows as well on amazon. It's a little more expensive then the other options you listed, but I think you should be willing to invest a little more in a good brace.

u/graffiti81 · 2 pointsr/Fitness

I don't know how I would have managed to live if it wasn't for one of these. The relief it gave was amazing.

A lacrosse ball rolled (with quite a bit of pressure) helped a lot prior to working out. Like I said, pulling lifts seemed to help me a lot.

u/Itmeansnothing123 · 1 pointr/bodyweightfitness

Sure, I bought two of these

They work pretty well, and for their price I like em. They have two flat metal bars inside the fabric to immobilize the elbow. You basically line it up so that the metal bars are on the inside and outside of your elbow, going across from your bicep to forearm.

They're a lot more comfy than I thought, and they breathe really well too. So I don't sweat or get hot in them.

u/weirdarmsfailing · 3 pointsr/CubitalTunnel

Every study I've read said that the nerve feels the least tension at 45 degrees. I think most doctors just recommends any elbow brace that will keep your arm straight. As long as you can't bend past 45 degrees then it should be fine.

I got this brace and I'm getting good results with it so far. It's not too bulky, has enough cushion, and stays on all night.

This brace was used in the study. Kinda pricey though.

It's only an elbow issue since that is where the cubital tunnel is located. But, the ulnar nerve can be pinched somewhere else, like the guyon's canal (wrist) or thoracic outlet (collar bone). I think finger splinting is for trigger finger.

u/_blck · 1 pointr/overcominggravity

I will try pronated & supinated as I had been doing hammer curls.

I usually work with a 2010 format I will try to slow down.

The mobilizations feels good. I had problems with elbow hyperextension so range isn't the issue but bringing blood flow to the elbow area feels good.

Are you talking about braces like this one ? I do not have one as I felt like this would not help much. What's your experience with braces ?

u/CrazyLittlePuppy · 1 pointr/bodybuilding

Thanks all.. :-)

So at present I am taking Ibuprofen every few hours.
I am also taking Cissus Quadrangulari as some of the results with that are supposed to be good, but only time will tell.

I'm doing some massage of the area (friction and stripping) and using a theraband flex-band, and have just ordered a brace all hoping that it will help.

Taking advice from you guys, I think I will have to massively cut my tricep and bicep work to very light weight/high rep to get the blood flowing.

But I guess it may be a month of legs, abs and back work (if I can find exercises that don't involve much gripping). Any suggestions?

How does that all sound?

u/Fettinem · 2 pointsr/Fitness

I solved my tennis elbow within a week by:

  • firstly, get a compression cuff; these things are amazing and let me do my normal workout without any pain, and I continue to use it for all push days
  • ulnar nerve glides multiple times a day
  • forearm stretches and massages where it hurts the most, also multiple times a day
  • after chest/tris, do 100 reps of banded tricep pushdowns (this strengthens the joints/ligaments without tiring out the muscle)
  • after back/bis, do 100 reps of banded bicep curls (same reason)
u/pkincy · 1 pointr/golf

Try this: https://www.amazon.com/Tomight-Elbow-Brace-Tennis-Compression/dp/B01M0F5IA4/ref=sr_1_8?dchild=1&keywords=golf+elbow+support&psc=1&qid=1571901478&s=sporting-goods&sr=1-8

For Tennis Elbow you wear the fat compression part on the outside of your forearm just below your elbow. For Golf Elbow you wear the fat compression part on the inside of your forearm just below your elbow. It supports the tendon that is strained or starting to tear. It gave me immediate relief. I play 250 rounds/year and have not had to miss a day using this device.

u/Jonny_Muscle · 2 pointsr/powerlifting

Knee sleeves are huge. I do believe the elbow sleeves are built a little differently. They are also only 5mm thick. I use this elbow sleeve and it's the same 5mm thickness as the STrong elbow sleeve (about 1/2 the size of the knee sleeve)

u/BearVsShark · 1 pointr/Fitness

Had the same thing a few years ago, it's some form of tendonitis. Saw recommendations for tennis elbow straps and got these: http://www.amazon.com/McDavid-Dual-Band-Elbow-Support/dp/B00ATWKJ0K/ref=sr_1_8/186-0392411-1413348?ie=UTF8&qid=1410741326&sr=8-8&keywords=mcdavid+tennis+elbow+strap

I wear them every workout and they work perfectly. They're absolute miracles.

u/sig570 · 1 pointr/orangetheory

i am not sure what brace you are using; if it is a whole sleeve or a small band, but this is the one i used when it flares up.

Depending on how hard, you might want to see a doctor. Definitely don't train while you can't move your arm. People will tell you to train one handed, but accidents can happen and aggravating it can you put out longer. In 3-4 days it should be much better and you can go back to training carefully (if not, go see a doctor!). I'd advise using a compression sleeve when you do, it helped me a lot reduce inflammation after training. Something like this.

For now, if it's inflamed (redness, swollen, sensitive to the touch), you should ice it and take some ibuprofen or other inflammation medicine. Otherwise let it rest and heal - eat well, sleep 8 hours at night, etc

u/jonhova · 2 pointsr/bodyweightfitness

Sleeping on your side or stomach will exacerbate elbow tendonitis. Sleeping with your arms bent to 90 degrees more while under your pillow for 8 hours a day is extremely detrimental. Sleep on your back with straight arms and if you move around a lot at night like me buy am arm splint.

Look up "kelly starett + sleep" for more info on how sleeping effects your body.

u/dwindacatcher · 2 pointsr/discgolf

Back in my baseball days I'd wear this when my elbow flared up.

https://www.amazon.com/Mueller-Elbow-Sleeve-Neoprene-Black/dp/B0013IZI1Y

I'm sure there are much better versions, but it applies fairly even pressure and would help. Never tried to throw a disc with one on.

u/BoeingInVanya · 1 pointr/Fitness

I have the same issue, and the stretching exercises mentioned will definitely help. I also purchased a compression sleeve that I wear on the arm with the issue. It may just be a placebo type effect, but it has made a difference for me.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N2U27QD/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/Morthica · 1 pointr/bouldering

Had it. Got one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B006LA6U3O/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_s_it/257-4451447-6608760?ie=UTF8&qid=1501536528&sr=1-1 stopped pain while climbing, and was gone after a week or two. Also did push-ups and dips to get strengthen the muscles. Climbing less worked great for a session, but then it came straight back.

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/bicycling

I was having knee problems when I used platform pedals, as I tended to hold my feet at funny angles. I switched to clipless and that solved the issue.

I also experience tennis elbow when biking with brifters. I started using a tennis elbow brace and that solved the issue. Basically, the tendons rub against the bone when braking and shifting. The brace applies pressure to the muscle which shifts the tendons into a position where they don't rub.

u/sentimentalsock · 1 pointr/Fibromyalgia

Here is the link for the latest brace I’ve been using Kunto Fitness Elbow Brace Compression Support Sleeve for Tendonitis, Tennis Elbow, Golf Elbow Treatment – Reduce Joint Pain During ANY Activity! (Small) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010P9Q13K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_cTuWBbX2C4C9M

u/bitoftheolinout · 1 pointr/kendo

With palm facing up, left side of forearm just below the joint? Do this and wear one of these during practice until the discomfort is gone.

u/imahna · 2 pointsr/KitchenConfidential

I have similar elbow(ish) pain and now wear one of these while at work. amazon link
