This one is expensive but it's the best hose I've used. It's lightweight and well made. Worth the investment. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MV3VILZ?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

u/hatts · 2 pointsr/IndoorGarden

Pump/arduino systems are cool and all, but sometimes it's best to stick to basics.

Can testify these things work great. Most people install them wrong: you must water the plant conventionally til the water is saturated, THEN install these things.

u/McKees37_Car_Care · 2 pointsr/AutoDetailing

That's what I have at home and love it, it's actually on sale right now too. Although I've always wondered if the Flexzilla hoses are any better.

u/jazzylover · 2 pointsr/AutoDetailing

Gardena hose reel. pricy but worth it. all the attachments work via airhose style attachment. link GARDENA Retractable Hose Reel 82-Feet With Convenient Hose Guide https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ASF6AR4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_vlZxxbW8W3SDG

I recommend this stainless steel hose.

I was so tired of "never kink" hoses that were just full of kinks and twists. I bought this steel hose a few months ago and it's been perfect.

I have switched all my hoses over to quick disconnects, including all my pressure washer connection points, and used these hoses:

zero-G 4001-50 Lightweight, Ultra Flexible, Durable, Kink-Free Garden Hose, 5/8-Inch by 50-Feet https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014M9PEXC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_9tdlzbCBWVCV5

No leaks and everything is super easy to move around and setup, especially now that I have a spotless rinse setup too.

I've never tried that, but he may have put the wicks into the pots before the plants. You could potentially harm them trying to shove a wick deep down into a root ball, but it should be ok if you're nice about it.

Another option is a big water jug with a dripper head on it like this:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0037OEK0M/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?qid=1427124487&sr=8-6&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70&keywords=pop+bottle+drip&dpPl=1&dpID=41KQIF7GwzL&ref=plSrch

Just put the bottle upside down into the soil with this on the end and fill it up. I can't speak for how long these will drip for, but i know you can get a slow drip for days with the right set up.

Edit: the first reviewer claims that using this with 2L bottle filled with water absorbing crystals should last a week. YMMV

We use these hoses and they are fantastic. we have 200 feet of hose and rarely kinks and easy to spool up and get inside after flooding.

Clever!

That reminds me of a crappy solution we used to have at a place I worked: https://www.amazon.com/WalterDrake-Sink-Hose-Sprayer/dp/B002T09VSG. Just friction fit over the existing plumbing instead of worrying about threaded adapters. Simple!

Nice touch with the hose clamp to handle the higher pressure when it's running through the chiller.

I bought a Scott’s MaxFlex and have been liking it thus far:

You’re talking about the watering spikes like this right? https://www.amazon.com/Master-Craft-Plant-Watering-Spikes/dp/B0037OEK0M

Most standard-size hoses have a plug available that will fit on the end coupling. Check at the hardware store or Big Box DIY store (Home Depot, etc)

Have you tried one like this?

u/dSaipher · 3 pointsr/HomeImprovement

I've blown out 2 "Pocket Hoses" and one (what I thought was decent) DAP brand expandable hose with the brass fittings and whatnot. It seems like the sun and weather really beats them down quick and the outer skin rips and boom it's done.

I actually went back to ACE to exchange the DAP one for another (warranty) and the guy sighed and told me "I'll give you another but they are garbage, we exchange these things by the dozens. Let me show you This."

So I bought one of these hoses (maybe not the exact one but basically the same thing). It's got a metal coil that is molded into the material of the hose. It's been sweet so far, no kinks, rolls up like a dream. I abuse it, yank on it, catch it on stuff, haven't had even a fitting fail yet going on 4 years. 10/10 would recommend.

u/Olue · 1 pointr/lawncare

I do but it's been posted elsewhere and would identify me IRL, so I don't want to post them.

Basically it's 4x of these, 1x of these, and a bunch of PVC fittings from Lowe's. All the PVC stuff uses pipe thread, so on the output side get a female pipe thread (FPT) to male hose thread (MHT) adapter.

I am feeding the system with two 3/4 inch hoses (hoses not included in the $200 total) that flow into these and merge into a single pipe (check valves on each side to mitigate some risk of backflow, but FYI this wouldn't pass code). One hose from each hose bib on my house. With that I'm getting about 10-11 GPM.

u/littleprettypebbles · 2 pointsr/gardening

Hmmm. We have two of those, ours have metal fittings and they've held up rather well (the first go had plastic fittings and they leaked over time). When you say break, has the issue been a tear in the hose or the fittings like our experience with the plastic fitting hoses? This is what we bought: https://www.amazon.com/Expandable-Epandable-Expanding-Lightweight-Gardening/dp/B07DW3BG5P/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=expandable+garden+hose+50ft+nayahose&qid=1556915797&s=lawn-garden&sr=1-3-catcorr This will be our second summer with them, no issues so far.

u/FuzzeWuzze · 3 pointsr/Homebrewing

I just stick some 3/8ths inch tubing on the end of the copper with a proper sized hose clamp and tighten it down.

No need for solder or anything fancy.

Then buy a hose hook up female hose to 3/8ths barb like this for the input to the tubing.
http://www.amazon.com/Female-Garden-Hose-Thread-Barb/dp/B0064OJ1HE

Then get another 4' or more of tubing coming off the output with hose clamp holding it on the tubing to drain the water away.

u/Cellbeep76 · 3 pointsr/whatisthisthing

I don't think that's an aerator. It looks like a strainer. It might go in an aerator, but I suspect it's for a garden hose faucet or washing machine hose.

The pin sticking out of the side is strange, though. Maybe some special application.

I just found this one and it’s not too expensive. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N9OCWJO it’s the same brand. I’m guessing it would work?
