I’ve had good luck with a premier protein shake paired with a Nature Valley almond butter biscuit. Got both of these from Costco - I think it’s around 25ish carbs all together. I’ve never been a breakfast eater and definitely don’t cook in the morning but I can put these down pretty easy.

The biscuits are legit good, not just GD good. They’re excellent paired with a glass of milk but I can’t do that in the AM. The protein shakes are super good too - cookies and cream is my fave. They mix super well with cold brew coffee for a fake out latte.

Something that helps me a lot is to keep healthy-ish versions of these snacks on hand. If you can keep some snacks at your desk, I recommend having healthy brownies or snack crackers around if a craving strikes and just won't disappear. That way, you can eat a brownie just like your coworkers and stay within your goals! I like these brownies a lot. Additionally, you don't have to remove it from your diet if you find it to be really difficult right now with your new desk. That could be a goal for later down the road!

If that doesn't help, what if you prelog the food you planned to eat, and then make sure there's enough room to eat that cookie or slice of pizza instead? That way, you're within your calorie goal and you still get that treat. Otherwise, if that doesn't work, try chewing some gum, getting sugar/calorie free syrups for coffee, or waiting 30 minutes and then seeing if you still want some. All of these tactics are useful for me. Good luck!!! *edit: wording

Wow, you sound like my twin down to height/weight/age. I was just researching glucose meters (even though I've been tested several times and don't have diabetes), just so I could test myself and make sure I don't get too low of blood sugar. I've also always been a really picky eater (almost no veggies, no seafood), and I don't cook or exercise. Real healthy :)

I've been dealing with the hungry-til-I-wanna-cry for years-- thankfully I had a patient ex bf who'd help me get food. Now that I live alone and am on a cocktail of migraine/adhd meds (trokendi, wellbutrin, adderall...) that make me feel dizzy/nauseous to the point of almost fainting, the problem is getting worse. I've definitely run to dry heave over the toilet after climbing the two flights of stairs to my apartment.

I don't have any miracle answers, but here's what kind of works for me-- carry food and a liter-size bottle of water everywhere. These end up not being the healthiest things because it has to be portable, non-perishable, and picky-friendly... but I do what I can.

Here's what I carry:

  • Squeezy applesauce This is about as easy as it gets to inject calories into my body, short of an IV.
  • Stretch Island fruit leather-- Grape is the best flavor, followed by raspberry and strawberry.
  • Mini clif bars -- I got sick of these so I don't eat them anymore. I also feel like they require some effort (chewing?) if that makes sense-- not as easy to eat when you're in the desperate, crying on the floor phase of hunger.
  • Chewy bars -- these are handy for purse and taste good.
  • Fiber 1 bars

Note: Several of the above items are way cheaper at Costco than Amazon or grocery stores -- the fruit leather, chewy bars, and applesauce in particular. Keep several snacks in your purse and car at all times. I always have 2-3 fruit leathers in my purse along with a chewy bar or two.

    Easy snacks for at home:
  • Small boxes of raisins -- these don't last as long as plastic-sealed options, but they do the trick.
  • Drink a glass of milk-- ~8g of protein!
  • Sugary juice (think POG, OJ, 100% real apple cider--yum!)
  • Lots of fruit-- I buy fresh fruit every 3-4 days. Wash & cut right away so it's ready to eat-- I go with grapes, cherries, any kind of berry, and bananas. Apples, oranges etc are too much effort when I'm hangry :)
  • Greek yogurt with high protein-- I buy Dannon Light & Fit Greek because it has relatively high protein/low sugar compared to the fancier stuff I used to eat (Fage, Noosa, Siggis)

The key IMHO is to stock up on lots of non-perishable options so that a) you don't run out and b) you don't have to decide what to eat when you get desperately hungry.

Note: I used to eat a lot of fruit snacks (ranging from gushers & fruit rollups to Welches), but I advise against these. They're also easy to carry/eat, but they're so sugary, I found they made ADHD symptoms way worse.

Hope this helps & good luck!

I eat plenty of frozen meat substitutes, which I'm sure you know is always an option, so I won't dwell on that.

I try to make every meal a protein and a fruit/vegetable. I'm not a great cook, so it's mostly pretty basic. Some possibilities -

  • Greek yogurt + a sliced banana + cinnamon (I also sometimes mix in my protein powder with this as a post-workout snack. It's like eating a sundae). I use Fage 0% fat Greek yogurt.

  • Egg white omelet with vegetables. This is great because egg whites are pure protein, so you can really use this to fix your protein ratio if you haven't had the best day. I use liquid egg whites from a carton, either fresh or frozen vegetables, and sriracha sauce (I used sriracha on a lot of stuff).

  • For sandwiches, I use Pepperidge Farm Light Style Bread (only 45 calories, 8 g carbs, 1 g fat, 3 g protein per slice), plus any number of Tofurkey brand sliced "meats" (5 slices will get you 100 calories and 13 g protein), some mustard, and a sliced tomato. For a pretty light snack or lunch (only a couple hundred calories), it has 19+ grams of protein. Which isn't too bad for a vegetarian sandwich, which I find are usually carb heavy.

  • For protein supplements, I sometimes use ON Gold Standard 100% Whey. But I get bored with powders, so I also buy ready made drinks and bars. Amazon's subscribe and save program is great for protein products, since I know I'm going to need my supply refreshed each month. You get 15% off if you subscribe to 5 or more items.

u/silentvoyager · 2 pointsr/ultrarunning

I find that I can survive on gels for up to 50K although I still try to consume a bit of fats and protein such as peanut butter or something like Bounce energy ball. For 50+ mile distances I added more other food but I still had upset stomach and some nausea at the end. My stomach is picky and I've just recently found out I have gluten sensitivity. Gels that I tolerate the best in ultras are Huma gels. I also recommend Clif Energy Food - this stuff is fairly heavy to carry around but works well in drop bags.

Good luck with your 100K!

If you’re in the US and want to buy them off Amazon, I just spotted a couple warehouse deals:

Enjoy Life Crunchy Mini Sugar Crisp Cookies, 1 Ounce Packs (Pack of 36) for $9.06 : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01I3SETAW/ref=cm\_sw\_em\_r\_mt\_dp\_U\_DEajDbBFF84QX

Enjoy Life Soft Baked Mini Cookies Double Chocolate Brownie, 1 Ounce Packs (Pack of 36) for $11.54 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01I3SF4SI/ref=cm\_sw\_em\_r\_mt\_dp\_U\_XKajDb334P760

I want to recommend this product at Amazon.com

Enjoy Life Soft Baked Mini Cookies Snickerdoodle, 1 Ounce Packs (Pack of 36) for $14.60 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01I3SE7WM/ref=cm\_sw\_em\_r\_mt\_dp\_U\_3LajDb57SG2BZ

Also…

u/Nick4753 · 2 pointsr/AskReddit

Sure... but this is different from my original argument: that Amazon's prices reflect the shipping costs in the item total and the 'deal' you are getting at Amazon with Prime is many times a myth

For example: Kashi Baked Apple Spice Cereal Bars on Amazon come in a 6 pack for $26.22 on Amazon, so 4.37/box. On Peapod each of those boxes is $2.50, so the cost for 6 would be $15. With tax & delivery it comes out to $25.38 via Peapod and $26.22 on Amazon (not including tip for Peapod's drivers, but since it is overnight delivery the same service via Amazon would equal out.) And delivery is free and there are online coupons for your first order!

Of course Peapod has a minimum order size, but if you're intent on getting 6 boxes of Kashi cereal bars I'm sure you can find other nonperishable items to buy in needlessly large quantities.

Great list!
> Larabars have been one of my biggest obsessions on the paleo journey. All they have in them are fruits (usually dates and maybe one other) and nuts.

I agree, but I prefer these bars from Rawbite: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FRB8UAS

Larabars are too sweet imo, and these are on sale right now (order 3+ cases to get them for $1.40ish per bar). They have a long shelf-life, are easy to store (non-meltable, easy to stack the boxes anywhere) and taste just awesome.

u/[deleted] · 3 pointsr/offmychest

If you decide to follow this path, you should look into Maca powder. It's a superfood as well as being a libido enhancer, and it is completely natural and safe. They even make it into delicious bar form.

u/DC4L_21 · 2 pointsr/ketorecipes

If you’re looking for good candy bars, I recommend the Atkins ones. They have one that tastes just like a Reese’s peanut butter cup, a snicker bar, and a fudge brownie. All the other ones I’ve tried though are kinda chalky, but still ok those three though taste like the real thing.

u/candygirl5134 · 1 pointr/loseit

These are pretty good, just be warned they do have a fair amount of fiber in them lol.

u/OfMonstersAndSuicide · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

If I could get an endless supply of Rice Krispies (The name brand, not home made stuff lol) Then I could live happily forever xD

u/estherfm · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Boots. I love these boots, they rock. Men's shoe, women's shoe.

A water bottle or two.

Snack bars. Meat and vegan.

Okay that should get you started.

> Goal is a Metric Century this year. I really wonder if that is possible with my diet.

So, you're probably going to want to eat and drink during the ride and you're going to want to do it before you start to bonk. I already recommended these in another post, they're easy to digest:

http://www.amazon.com/Natures-Bakery-Ground-Bar-36-variety/dp/B00VVMH586?ie=UTF8&refRID=MC7WV6H34S9E0JVGWNH3&ref_=pd_nav_hcs_bia_t_1

If you consume even 1/3 the calories you're burning you should be able to easily complete a metric century.

u/reggae_muffin · 1 pointr/trailmeals
u/SnatchHouse · 1 pointr/MDMA

you guys have shitty diets. lol. I like a green smoothie. kale, pineapple, blueberry, garlic, ginger, grapefruit, hemp seed, salt, almond milk. Later on I like some good ass chocolate.

http://www.amazon.com/Righteously-Raw-Maca-Bar-Box-12/dp/B004NMJFKC

if you can find one of those it will cost you about 8 dollars at whole foods, worth every-fucking-cent. i guarantee it.

u/flowlowland · 2 pointsr/1200isplenty

Awwww, sorry, I hope they didn't sell out. I can't really find them online many places, but looks like Amazon has a bulk box of them. (Seems like a crazy price, though.)
