🎓 Reddit experts on corner shelves
The comments and opinions expressed on this page are written exclusively by redditors. To provide you with the most relevant data, we sourced opinions from the most knowledgeable Reddit users based the total number of upvotes and downvotes received across comments on subreddits where corner shelves are discussed. For your reference and for the sake of transparency, here are the specialists whose opinions mattered the most in our ranking.
We used to live out of suitcases (due to Mom's employment, not this, this sucks and I'm so sorry they're going through this)! Small portable game systems are a must for kids, I don't know if that's something that they made it out with, but they sure made our lives better. I would have killed for a Kindle, but even old systems from a second hand shop or a yard sale (sometimes you have to leave them behind anyway, it's hurts less if they weren't expensive) would probably be welcome. Phone cards, even just one a piece for emergencies, are incredibly helpful. We sometimes used blow up furniture, they don't often last long, but it's fun, it's portable, and it's yours. Decorative throws serve multiple purposes: as blankets, you can hang them for decor that helps the heating bill, and then you can wrap your stuff in them when you leave again. A camera, so that you can focus on new happy memories (not trying to encourage repression, but it really makes forgetting the bad parts easier later when you have concrete proof of the good ones). Stuff for a luxurious bath every now and then would be 'frivolous' enough for a gift, and it helps with the mental health, as well as technically being practical (everyone needs to be clean!).
> She also has no car
Is there any form of public transportation where they are? You could spring for a month's bus/tram/equivalent pass.
As for the organizing, there are the closets that hang, or the collapsible stand alone wardrobe. There's pop up storage bins, or this hoarder enabling abomination that I may be buying myself now. These things are like suitcases you never have to unpack.
I actually have this vacuum, it works awesome on hard floors and gets the job done on carpets if you keep at it, it's fairly quiet for a vacuum, and comes apart for getting hard to reach areas/fixing when you sucked up something it shouldn't have eaten. You could toss in a few small office/kitchen sized trashcans and liners to match, a lot of people can stay clean if they have arms reach access to a bin, but never think about buying extra bins.
You said that she has some cookware, but I'm going to add this here anyway. We always left behind the measuring spoons and cups, then wouldn't buy more until we absolutely had to. We often lived in hotels and lived off of whatever could be microwaved or grilled on the hibatchi (note, that was an example, don't spend more than $20 on one), and a good set of microwavable dishes makes a world of difference as to what you can make. Spices to dress up canned veggies are also indispensable and often out of budget, even if it's just some Mrs. Dash mixes, seasoning salt, garlic powder.
Lastly though, I want to commend you. You're an awesome friend. The world would be a better place with more of you. Knowing that someone out there has your back can mean everything when you have nothing. Good luck to your friend and her son, I hope your care package makes their day.
I just found this sub and man I'm so excited!
Thanks for doing this!
Spiral vegetable slicer I love to cook and would like to cook healthier. Plus I could make some cool shapes and cut things out for the kids with food.
Corner plant/picture shelf I have some plants in my kitchen that help to brighten up the space, but they take up to much counter top space. Having this stand would help a lot.
live cup of catapillars I want to do this with the kids. It would be an awesome science learning experience. Plus butterflies!
Storage bins for food Love these things, we only have 2 of these that I got for free a couple of years ago. We need more for leftover food and to take food for lunches etc.
Thuja Green Giant Arborvitae trees Would love to have these in my backyard. We can't have fences where we live and these would help create a privacy screen from our neighbors. Plus they help the environment!
Well, our jungle gym is actually a shelf/rack we got from here: https://www.amazon.com/5-Shelf-Steel-Layer-Shelving-Storage/dp/B01G4NJSHW/ref=pd_sim_196_4?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01G4NJSHW&pd_rd_r=S0ARCYMC3N03TTDWFAGQ&pd_rd_w=jTFzV&pd_rd_wg=HFNbH&psc=1&refRID=S0ARCYMC3N03TTDWFAGQ.
I am happy for you! Congrats on your Eevee :) He looks absolutely adorable :D You should post some videos too! Our baby's name is Bombus, named after the genus of bumblebees (boyfriend had been working in the lab with bees, so we thought it would be fitting).
Right now we feed Bombus the Higgins Safflower Gold mix, we but are trying to slowly transition him to Zupreem pellets because it's a lot healthier than a seed mix. We also give him almond and banana chip treats occasionally, and when we feel like spoiling him, unsalted pistachios, which doubles as a great toy because he will pick up the shell bits and chew on them for hours!
These ClosetMaid shelves would be perfect for your space!
They have little hooks that hook onto the shelf that’s at the top of the closet (they’re flexible so they can hook onto the bars even if they’re an odd width apart), and then they can also hook onto each other.
We currently have four of them hanging from the top wire shelf in our closet (one from the shelf itself, then three more extending down below that), and they’re great for open-front storage that’s easy to see and access. Ours our being used for clothes right now. I have them set up so that the side walls are vertical and not on an angle, but you’ve got options.
Just roughly eyeballing your space from the picture, it looks like you should be able to fit two rows of the hanging shelves side by side, if you wanted to (they’re 17” wide).
I’ve taken the ones I’ve got with me through the last four moves; most places have some type of wire shelving, so they’d be useful beyond just your current apartment. They can take a lot of weight (in one place I had them stacked four deep holding bottles of liquids, and they didn’t bend or break at all), and they nest neatly inside each other in a standard size moving box when it’s time to move.
There’s also a link on the Home Depot page to a similar type of hanging shelf that’s 24” wide, but it looks like it doesn’t have real side walls/a back wall. The ones I linked that we use are like baskets, so they’d be great for the papers/books/binders/office supplies you mentioned.
ETA: Looks like they’re a little more than $3 cheaper per piece on Amazon. The fourth picture on the Amazon listing is how we have ours set up, only with additional baskets below it.
That’s awesome!! 😍😍💗☺️ I would love to do the same! But mine I’m simply going to do more lotions and shampoos and conditioners... more healthy alternative face masks, etc... but here’s the link for the lights!! Good luck 😇😇 keep me updated on your indoor herbal garden!!
As many have said, Baskets that are clear or where you can put a label would work well for miscellaneous items and items that group well together like sauces. I would use a can dispenser like this one since you have the room. If it was me I would definitely get a few roll out trays for a few of the lower shelves, that is if you can. It would make getting to the things in the back easier, specially for items you use almost daily. Clear stack-able containers are great for seeing what you have, I see you have one clear bin, those are good for pulling out things like spices and sauces. They make it easy for pulling out and putting back when your done.

I spent the last several months looking for a place to buy and I will tell you what I looked for and plan to do.
Ramps are important, most places have small steps that abled body people don't notice but it's a pain for some in a wheelchair to get over every day.
Carpet is a pain in the ass to roll on, stick with hard wood or concrete.
Bathroom doors are never wide enough and usually the bathroom as a whole is to cramped.
Walk in showers without doors are great.

^^^ is expensive but great in kitchens (I will gladly take a few of these if someone would buy them for me 🥳)
Front load washer and dryer, not stacked and on a pedestal, much easier to use.
Smaller handheld vacuums like the battery powered Dyson are much easier to use. I also plan on getting a Roomba because I'm lazy like that.
I also decided to get a lot of home automation stuff because it makes things much easier. Example: Google home or Alexa, smart light bulbs or switches, ring doorbell, smart deadbolt.
Other than that I just think little adaptive equipment here and there.
Edit addition: fridge with a bottom freezer and water filter within reach is super helpful to.
Hello! Thank you for hosting :) Here's my computer desk the doubles as a vanity!

It's from Ikea, but I don't think they don't sell it anymore. I did however just buy a double kitchen shelf that I absolutely adore. I just put it together the other day! I have three mini acrylic organizers, two of which I got at Tj Maxx and the three compartment pencil holder is from target. One of my drawers also holds makeup, and I placed two organizer things that fit perfectly!
StoreIt!
You can find things like these at Walmart for pretty cheap. When organizing, I like to have a large open space to work with (ideally) and just start picking things up from the main mess and putting them into category piles. Once you have this complete then you'll have a pretty good idea of what sizes of containers you'll need to buy. I would also suggest buying something like this if you have a lot of something or big things. I prefer clear totes/drawers as it is easier to tell what is in them, but I also like to print out labels too.
Just remember that when it comes to organizing, the mess always appears to be worse before it gets better! Good luck!
I buy plastic drawers from those companies like Sterilite and whatnot, just plastic bins with pull out clear plastic drawers. You see them everywhere like Walmart/Target or whatever your alternative is if not in the US.

About $8-$10 can store a couple mid size armies including vehicles in, large creatures go on display here in a cabinet but the main forces go in the plastic bins. Then I stack the bins up on cheap garage shelving and pull out the drawer when I need to grab the figures so that's pretty convenient.
Been doing this for over a decade, all good no problems, dust free cheap storage you can expand as needed.
These kinds of things here: https://www.amazon.com/STERILITE-Organizer-Mini-Drawer-Pack/dp/B014E30YX6/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=sterilite+drawers&qid=1563124180&s=gateway&sr=8-3

You can buy cheap foam inserts from Amazon as well, just pick and pluck foam and line the bottom of the bins if you wish to keep everything stationary.
Congrats!
Why are your speakers dancing near the ceiling? Speakers are ideally at ear level while seated or standing if that is where you are listing from. Bookshelf speakers are a misnomer, they are designed to go on stands, though that door location is going to limit your options if you can't move to another spot in the room.
Speaker Stands: Size to get speaker tweeter at ear height from your listening position.

Best thing I could find (10.7 x 18.4 x 8)
The only thing I would worry about is the little ones chewing on the coating, this size should cover 1/3 long ways.
Also you may be able to use the hooks on this not only as a stand but you could make very small holes and hook it to add even more room.
However if this doesn't work, you could add adhesive hooks so you can use cage hooking items like this
If the hooks aren't what you want then you can add items like these:

Platform and Swing - The Squeequel
I really hope this will help you and the little ones out!
Edit: Forgot to add this one
The nicest thing I've done recently, is pay for the dry cleaning of the person in line in front of me who ended up leaving their wallet at home. Brightened up my day! And I will link this to help organize my pantry a little bit! Thank you for the contest!
I use a large Sterilite drawer cabinet for those. Works really well.
Something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Sterilite-Drawer-Wide-Tower-White/dp/B00VXIQJQ2
The smaller drawers are great for WIP parts and partially built things or for a "sorting drawer" where you dump stuf that needs to be sorted.
The big drawers easily fit the wide raised baseplates and boat hulls, along with the big tires.
I found these super helpful when I moved in with my boyfriend and we needed more space for all my stuff in our small one bedroom.
Also, we use these for like everything. I have smaller ones in the bathroom with all my bathroom girly stuff. We have a couple larger ones in the laundry closet and multiple in the closet and on shelves for storage. So helpful! Makes our place not look like a total cluttered mess all the time.
I bought these. They have many sizes. Seville Classics Pull-Out Sliding... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y2N6J2Z?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Friends of mine have some made of wood.
Good luck!
I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but you can get Sterilite drawers that are cheap and look good. We have a few of these in the apartment and they look nice. This might be too close to a dresser.
You could also use stackable milk crates. The open part can face out when you stack them. See here
These velcro straps used to be $5 and some days are cheaper and will help organize them no matter what you throw them in. They have the little loop so one end always stays attached to the cable. The first link would be the nicest solution although the most expensive. Clear bins that could stack also work well as you can get different sizes. I currently use a mix of the bins and a cheap drawer shelf like this along with some larger boxes for bulky/outdated cables. I would suggest going with thinner versions of that instead of your last link. Your mileage may vary but normally they will be cheaper in store.
It's the weekend! These are drawers I want to use in my first apartment for clothes, shoes, magazines, etc :) I haven't even moved in and I know my room is bare lol
If you're not sure of the final configuration you want, why build in 'permanent' shelves? Get a couple of rolling wire shelves. and call it a day until you figure out what you want the final product to be. If they roll, you can play with configurations until you're happy with it.
Actually, this crap level of work comes from owner-influenced lowest level budgeting and my own lack of networking experience. Initially the owner wanted to use plastic gardening crates, but I helped swing to wire racks to avoid the massive fire hazard. I appreciate your comments.
Computers are wire rack mounted (like these http://www.amazon.com/Alera-Complete-Shelving-Caster-Anthracite/dp/B005SG1FE6). Try not to laugh. Racks are up against the side of the wall, holes are cut for individual components so they exhaust into the hot aisles. Exhaust fans on the exterior walls assist and create a vacuum so the hot aisles don't leak heat. Standard air conditioners in every other aisle. Please don't even mention the HVAC issues, I know. This is what Facebook might have looked like if Mark Zuckerberg didn't have financing or any knowledge of networking principles.
The only reason we haven't used patch panels is that we don't know how everything will lay out against the wall, and want to avoid a conflict of space, but I have to admit that they would look a lot better than having a tiny hole drilled out for each individual cable.
This is a high risk investment, so it doesn't really make sense to dump a ton of additional money into proper server networking solutions when functionally we can accomplish the same with a little more elbow grease and wood. If and when the money starts rolling in, the next stage will definitely take advantage of the comments I've read here.
Any thoughts? Still think I should just walk away? It's a long ways home from Japan.
I didn't even know I wanted this until I saw it. This will make my fridge so much better!
Now I don't think the awesomeness of this needs to be explained. But just in case it does I'll remind you of how great Powerline is.
Twinsies.
Utility shelf
Holds 150lbs per shelf though I question if you can fit a carboy in there.
My suggestion would be to build your own. You can use this or this aquarium stand as inspiration. All you need is some 1/2" ply, some 2x4s and screws/drill.

This is the stand I got, good build quality, adjustable spiked feet, and rubber washers between shelves to help dampen vibration.
Ugh, I need organization stuff! My husband and I are moving from a 2 bedroom, loft apartment to a 1 bedroom. I've been doing a lot of research and Pinterest pinning to find good organizational tips and items so that we can enjoy our smaller apartment without having stuff all over the place.
So, I could really use a Large Under Shelf Basket, a Pack Place or a Can Dispenser.
It's on my to-do list to add more baskets and such to my wishlists tonight!
Before I got my tying desk, I used something like this for quite a while.
I was able to organize (and quickly see) materials by type in different drawers. Threads/tinsels/wire etc in a skinny drawer. Hooks/beads/tools in another. Then say, feathers and hackle in one. Furs and dubbing in another. Etc etc. Can double as a surface to tie on as well (depending on the height that you buy) where my vise would sit right on top and I'd work right there.
I just got another one of these for my brewing equipment.

I have two more of something very similar for other garage storage purposes. They work great.
I hope I’m allowed to post an Amazon link!

Short of custom shelves have you considered trying to get what they have in a shoe store? The racks they use for clearance stuff seems like it would be a good idea if you can find one.
Not a shoe rack, [but I have a couple of these](http://www.76.com/"(H) x 48"(L) x 18"(D) Chrome NSF Wire Shelving Unit Commercial Heavy Duty 6 Layer/Tire Storage Rack Shelf Adjustable Steel Wire Metal Shelving Rack 3600 LBS Capacity https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EZEN2KW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_s42oDb3W2FPKD) that I use to hold things way heavier than shoes. You might be able to find a size to better suit your needs, but they're very sturdy.
I'm also not a fan of bending down for clothes, and I find it aids my workflow to have more bins. So my closet has two of these, one for myself, one for my toddler:
Hanging Closet Organizers.
Everything else current hangs, while out of season things/hand-me-downs waiting for the infants to grow up are stored in a 3 drawer Sterilite, also in the closet and serves
as a surface to fold things.
$46 for the set of three, easily transportable, and keeps things well organized.
I made it from IKEA solid wood countertop and legs from a Pangea stand. I believe IKEA has switched their wood to oak from the birch that I used on my stand. Here is the original stand Pangea Vulcan Audio Rack
You've got a few options for deep cabinets...depending what's in each cabinet usually you may want to choose a few of these.
1- You could add tiers to the shelves, so that things in the back are raised up a few inches. (Great for flour/sugar/spices/etc)
2- You could get turntables, basically like mini-lazy-susans so you can rotate things to the front/back (great for oils/vinegars/cans/etc)
3- You could convert the shelves into drawers you can pull out (probably only if your cabinets are VERY deep, and not too tall)
4- You could install pull downs (like this sort of thing: https://www.amazon.com/Rev-Shelf-5PD-24CRN-Pull-Down-Shelving/dp/B0009EP2S2)
I haven't read through other comments yet, but when we had a tiny apartment with a postage stamp sized kitchen, the apartment also had a surprisingly large walk-in closet, so we put a shelf at the back of that and used it as extra pantry space and to store less-often-used items.
Editing to add: I forgot about this, but in our first house, the kitchen was still small-ish and didn't have much storage, so we got a big chrome shelf, similar to this, and used that for the microwave, small appliances, baking pans, etc. I put baskets on it to hold smaller things, and used "S" hooks to hang pots from it. It wasn't that one, it was a bit larger, I think we paid about $100 for it at Sam's Club, but it was a very sturdy shelf, my husband has it in his workshop now, and we bought it probably 15 or more years ago.
Semi-decent alternative with slightly more agreeable looks

Depending on what you're going to do with your laptop (i.e. are you going to be watching movies on it, or coding while you walk?), you might be able to get away with using something like this, depending on the height of your treadmill. I only watch movies/documentaries on the laptop, so it doesn't have to be directly in front of me.
A guy I used to work with built a custom laptop holder that goes over his treadmill, and he codes while he walks.
Bins or plastic drawer things for the makeup and toiletry items, baskets for washcloths, basket for cleaning supplies on the bottom, stack of towels on the top.
plastic drawer things---depending on the measurements of your closet: https://smile.amazon.com/STERILITE-Organizer-Mini-Drawer-Pack/dp/B014E30YX6/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=sterilite+plastic+drawers&qid=1566767180&s=gateway&sr=8-2
I like it!
I am also using a desk as a changing table, but I put some white "fancy" sterilite drawers underneath it.

this shelving rocks. nice design, so simple, i built one alone with a broken hand in 20 minutes. sturdy, 350 lbs each shelf supposedly. i have two.
There's a lady who breeds lionhead mixes here in Miami who had a similar problem with her babies looking frail (and coming down with Coccidioides from soiled hay) until she started offering them fresh alfalfa every day in a basket she hangs on the side of their hutch. It's worth a try.
If it's this one or close to it then it can handle 600 lbs per shelf, so you're good up to about 70 gallons.

The Akro mills come in several styles, all small, small and big mix and all big. There are also these: https://www.amazon.com/STERILITE-Organizer-Mini-Drawer-Pack/dp/B014E30YX6/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=sterlite+3+drawer+storage&qid=1566752569&s=gateway&sprefix=sterlite&sr=8-4. A combination of styles and sizes might be what you need.
I spent way too much time waffling on a 20 dollar order since its mostly snacks and household goods. I went with this drawer instead: https://primenow.amazon.com/dp/B01GSU5GWC
Add some chips or drink in there to make the minimum.
And if anyone is wondering, it is a Sterilite 3 Drawer Wide Weave Tower: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GSU5GWC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_dp_T1_UDkpzbJNM34JX
you need one of these pull down shelves.
