I have a few ideas. Here is a song we used to sing at my old elementary school in music class. It must have had an impact on me if I remember it. Also, an old favorite of mine was this song heard here.

Besides that, I recommend watching the creepier episodes of Adventure Time, like Into the Nightosphere

I think it's important to remember that these kids are only 5, so don't make anything too creepy, but I get how cool you want it, so try a few tricks with grown-up (but not super scary) lighting/decor. I like these colored orbs for the path inside. You can put these on some drinks for the grownups and sparkling cider for the kids. This stuff is great to cover ordinary lights with, and generally string around. Also, this mold could be pretty great without being too scary. These, these and these can help create the lighting effect you want. Also maybe a blacklight or strobe light to play up the cool effect. Generally [Spencer's] has some great light toys like this lamp, this disk, and a fake flame cauldron. I wish you luck! Just don't forget to run everything by the princess of the party to make sure she likes it! It's her party, so you have to play by her rules :)

I'm still not sure why carbon steel frying pans haven't caught on yet.

Basically carbon steel frying pans are a kind of happy medium between cast iron and your standard non-stick pan. Like non-sticks, they heat up pretty quickly, but like cast iron they are very durable, can tolerate very high heats (unlike a non-stick!) and once properly seasoned are pretty non-stick. I love it for making eggs in the morning because unlike a cast iron, I don't have to wait 5-10 minutes for it to get properly hot.

If you recognize the metal from their use in woks, which are pretty bad at holding heat, skillet style carbon-steel pans like the kind I'm talking about tend to be a little thicker and hold heat better.

There are downsides: fast heating means fast cooling, too, so unlike cast iron, they can't hold heat as well and you're not going to get the kind of sear and heat you can get with a cast iron or a stainless steel pan. On the other hand, they're not terrible at holding heat, and if you get a bigger pan (which you might want anyway) and leave yourself some breathing room, this isn't a problem most of the time.

They're also more expensive than cast iron and most non-sticks, but not by much. They also last forever (unlike non-sticks) so it ends up paying for itself over time.

If you're trying to minimize kitchen items, the carbon steel frying pan is a great all-around, utility player.

A good option is the Lodge Pre-Seasoned Carbon Steel Skillet, which like their cast iron comes pre-seasoned (but it's a good idea to do a round or three of seasoning anyway). If you get this, I highly recommend you pick up a silicone handle. It's almost a necessary accessory as it turns the pan from painful to hold due to heat and form to a friendly handshake from your frying pan.

That is the one I have and it's easily my most used pan. That said, I do eat way more eggs than seared meats. On the other hand, if I had to I'd still feel comfortable cooking a good, well-seared steak in this pan if for some reason I couldn't reach for my cast iron (I couldn't say the same about a non-stick).

If you want a little bit better heat retention, the deBuyer is in the same price range, but it's a little heavier, which'll help it retain heat. It doesn't come pre-seasoned, so you'll have to put a little bit more work into it. I don't own this, but it's generally a good, popular brand.

First, your Amazon wish list photo is SO CUTE!

I love Dr. Seuss, and this cute apron even has a weird skirt-like thingie to it in blue polka dots, FOR FASHION! There's also a matching toddlers apron (if you babysit) and a chef's hat.

The rest of mine are just cute and awesome.

This one's a bit pricey, at $35, but it's prime eligible.

This aqua one is $24 and is totally adorable.

This neat one comes with a little clip-on towel.

Happy Baking! ♥ I love making cookies. I could make cookies every day, but I shouldn't.

u/[deleted] · 2 pointsr/britishproblems

I can only hope that's the case. Would you like me to destroy the rest of the email for you? In the mean time, here is the Russ Abbot tea towel

Edit: The reviews of the tea towel are pretty convincing: > "I love it!!!!! For years Ive searched for the perfect item to compliment my Les Dennis ovengloves and Dustin Gee kitchen roll holder and now Ive found this!!!! Im in light entertainment heaven"

u/starfishe · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I am proud of myself for finally almost "having my shit together" at age 28. It took some time, but I am pretty happy in my life right now. For awhile, I was depressed, and just not very happy about anything in life. I am just proud of myself that I am finally happy!!

this would make me happy too thanks for the contest!!

I wish they still made those mesh-and-coil seat covers from the '50s, that allowed air to circulate all around you.

They also used to make them with just the seat part, which you could use at a desk. Might look a little odd, but people have pillows and stuff to ease compression, so it would be fine.

Oh, hey, wait--there are some seat cushions that might help, providing air flow around your bum, in the car and at a desk.

Here's a crapton of links:

Purple jiggly silicone w/ chambers

wire spring seat cushion--like the 1950s ones

Beaded (for the seat only--but there are full-seat versions as well)

silicone knobbies that leave plenty of space, and look like the kind of thing that's there to cushion your bones, etc.

cushion for coccyx support, but would have airflow capabilities.

more silicone knobs

and silicone knobs again--if you carried this into the classroom, people would just think you had a medical issue.

This is my boring old kitchen table, our kitchen pretty much has nothing in it. Wondering where the kitchen chairs are? We have none :( We have to save up and buy some. In the mean time I have a table runner and candle set on my house needs/wants wishlist I would Love to have for my kitchen table. The table runner is the first thing I would like to get. Are we allowed to link wishlist items again?

u/homeworkfoo · 3 pointsr/RandomActsOfChristmas

Does he grill or do bbq ever? I saw YouTuber “thecrazyrussianhacker” using it and it seemed pretty cool.

Also I thought about getting my bro this. Maybe yours would enjoy it.

I have these from Amazon and I love them. I cook a lot so having so many of them is really helpful, I also use them instead of paper towels for cleaning and they work really well for that too.

Also, get some vinegar. It's magic, you can replace so many cleaning products with it.

Edit: ha, I missed where you asked for a small hand towel and I suggested a pack of 13. You can probably split them with someone, but between cooking and cleaning and living with the boyfriend and pets, a few extra come in handy pretty often.

u/Nymeria007 · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

[This apron] (http://www.amazon.com/Attitude-Apron-Your-Opinion-Black/dp/B001D1YNZI/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=39NU7GXODCKMR&coliid=I2E9COLOJKSU9M) is patriotic for many reasons. Freedom of speech, and freedom from other people's stupidity are the main ones though. Also: Cooking is just science for hungry people, and Americans love science (kind of).

  • Try to have an "evening reset" where you take 15-20 minutes to put most things in their place, wash dishes, etc. I find that the pain of those 15-20 minutes even if I'm dog tired is better than the pain of having to clean up a huge mess for an hour or more when it all piles up.
  • Get some cloth sponges. These things are amazing! You don't need that particular one, just showing you an example of them. The dust and muck just comes right off with a rinse. So much better, IMO, than porous sponges and plain clothes if you want to avoid smearing dust and stuff when wiping things down. You'll thank me.

Great tips already in this thread, too. Main thing is to not let clutter build up to the point where it overwhelms you, and just set aside time one a week or so to do a clean. Doesn't need to be spotless, so no need to go crazy to impress anyone. You've got this, man.
u/megangigilyn · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

One time my boyfriends parents made us Fried Dough like at the fair. She fried them up and I was the first one to get one. i took one bite and instantly knew something was wrong. I continued eating though just to be polite. My mother than got one and we exchanged looks with eachother, both knowing something was up. But we both kept eating. Finally my boyfriend got one and said something to his mother. Turns out she had doubled the amount of baking soda in the recipe and made it bitter and inedible. My mother and I laughed and then his mother yelled at us for not saying anything. I went home later with a bellyache. Fast forward a few years and my boyfriend is in the kitchen making scones for a few guests we have over. He makes the same mistake his mother did and all of us once again are too polite to say anything until he tries one and yells at us for not saying anything. I guess cooking abilities runs in the family!

Thanks for the fun contest :]

Here's my item!

Have you considered one of those little things that slides over the handle (after done heating)? I've seen them in leather and silicone. Like this:

I've had one on my amazon wish list forever. Apparently no one thought I needed another pan for Christmas.

I think most are made with restaurant use in mind, so not super ergonomic like home cookware. You can get a silicon holder that looks pretty comfortable and is made just for this pan.

I'm on mobile so excuse the long link. Here it is.

I'm late to this contest so I'm not sure if this one has been submitted yet... but I spent half an hour looking and it's my favorite of all the ones I saw... AND IT HAS POCKETS! It's not hilarious or absurd, but I think it qualifies as awesome. Maybe you can wear something hilarious or absurd underneath it.

u/woolgreen · 3 pointsr/CasualUK

The Dean Gaffney one is special. Goes very nicely with a russ abbot tea towel. Worth a click just to read the comments.

u/saroka · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Would this apron interest you? Or perhaps this nail color? Or would a blue suit you more? XD

u/annitabonita1 · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction
  • I wipe the oil off with a microfiber towel (I ordered these from Amazon).

  • I do wipe the oil again after the second application, but I don't know if that's standard, I just cleanse after and put so much more moisturizer on afterwards, I don't feel like I need to keep it on.

  • I do the second step because I wear a lot of eye makeup. The first round is more to get that off my face, and then I rub/cleanse with the second round of oil so I'm not rubbing eyeliner into my cheeks.

  • It definitely gets all my makeup off the first try, better than any makeup remover I've ever used.
u/ImSeasick · 9 pointsr/TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I have a seat cushion from Purple in my car and I used to have one at my office too. They are expensive, $50-80 I think, but I think it's worth it. I can't even explain to you how much of a difference it makes for me. I used to have to fly long flights (>12hr) and it makes all the difference in the world.

I highly recommend the Royal (here on Amazon)

But I also have an Everywhere (also on Amazon)

I recently bought these and these and am happy with their performance.

One thing you never want to do with dish towels is dry them with dryer sheets. Stuff has wax in them which will reduce the absorbency of your towels.

I think you're looking for flour sack towels. Are they thin and large? Almost like a rough bed sheet?

I sometimes cook my steaks the same way, and also have a glass top. I just let the burner get hot (set to high), and when I take it out of the oven, I gently place it on the hot burner. I use these gloves, and have no issue holding the cast iron long enough to move it

u/Sleezy_Salesman · 1 pointr/recipes

This is where I found the handle cover. Also these silicone covers come in handy as well.

u/naorlar · 5 pointsr/Showerthoughts

Get the royal purple cushion. It's pricy but worth every damn penny for all the comfy cloud like sitting I can do now.

Edit: you may be tempted to cheap out and get their 1" version - don't. 2" or bust. It makes all the difference.

u/FuckCazadors · 2 pointsr/CasualUK

I've often considered buying a Steve McFadden clock of course, as all of us must have, but I'm worried that I wouldn't have the opportunity to enjoy it properly because I spend most of my spare time concentrating on my Russ Abbot tea towel.

u/mc8675309 · 2 pointsr/biggreenegg

I use these gloves. I can pick up just about anything with them. My hands got kinda warm a few times but only after prolonged grabbing something.

u/UndergroundPhoenix · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Silicone pan handle cover. Slip it on and never take it off. Never burn hands again.

I use a thermopop, almost as fast as the thermapen, and under $30.

Also, I couldn't get by without my Grill Armor gloves. I can reach right in to the fire box, move burning logs and chunks of lump charcoal, move hot grates, move hot charcoal pans and water bowls, etc.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZORPCGG

I also use a set of grill armor silicone gloves for moving hot food.
