I don't even have many "before" pics because I was really insecure about cystic acne on my temples (you can see some PIH and scarring but it's so much better). I also always struggle with super oily skin, but when I showed up to the taping they told me I didn't even need to go through hair and makeup. It feels great and I think I'm well on my way to having clear skin again. Here's my routine:
AM:
PM:
Vit C has been amazing for PIH. I wish I added it sooner. The one I use specifically is an asian product. For oily guys, I also recommend the Gatsby Oil Clearing Sheets, they're larger than most (and have very "masculine" packaging) to help keep the shine under control. I blotted right before taping and applied the Murad mattifier and a thin layer of the Biore sunscreen, and that combo really adds brightness (almost a whitecast) and calms redness down, leaving a nice matte look. I'm still pretty tan so the cast isn't that problematic.
Anyway, thanks again SCA, the science-driven approach to bettering one's skin that goes on here is so helpful!
That's sebum, or the same oil that's produced by everybody for skin and hair. Ever the smell is normal. The amount you're producing isn't normal.
Now, ideally you'd go to a dermatologist, figure out exactly why it's over producing and get treated. That's really the best choice because they can figure out not only the root cause, but have a wider range of treatment options than you can get over the counter. And since there's several dangerous conditions that can cause it (like the already mentioned kidney issues that give had checked out), you really should see a specialist asap, just to be safe. Combined with the other scent you mention in your breath, I'd lean towards an endocrine imbalance of some kind, but I'm not a doctor, so go see one.
Now, I gotta warn you that unless you're in your twenties or older, there's a good chance it's just temporary from hormonal shifts that occur during puberty. Yeah, you're out of high school based on what you said, but puberty doesn't always finish at graduation. It's very common for it to last as late as the mid twenties, though it's tapering off before that. It's also possible that this is just the level your body produces and you'll have to adjust to it. Regardless of the cause, there are a few things that can help deal with it in the meanwhile.
First, invest in baby wipes and some sandwich bags. Carry a dozen or so in a bag and wipe down during the day until you get a proper diagnosis. If you get the kind with aloe, it's possible your skin will stay moisturized enough that you get less oil production.
For your face and hair, they make these specialty oil absorbing wipes. this is the brand I used to use as an example. You can use them on your hair too, but it gets expensive since they're small.
You may want to change soaps as well. A good moisturizing soap, followed by a low oil lotion after bathing can reduce oil production. I can't really make a recommendation about brands, but if you start with the stuff like cetaphil that's designed for acne, I think you'll find a brand that works for you quicker. A lot of the time, excess oil comes from stripping the skin oil off but not replacing it with anything.
For the scent, I'd try increasing my fruit intake first. Pineapple, apples, citrus first since they tend to change scents of the body faster than others.
Now, I have to again say that I'm not a doctor, and you really need to make sure there's nothing bad underlying as a cause just to be safe. I'm only trying to give you what worked for me until you can get that done, so don't just assume I'm saying it's just because of hormones or whatever, I'm not. I'm saying there's dozens of potential causes that need to be ruled out eventually.
Happy Un-Birthday! :)

This is a great idea--thanks for hosting!
Hear me out on this but you can buy some blotting paper that women use to remove oils from face before makeup. Should definitely be on Amazon so no need to step foot in store. Used one a time or two and they’re effective and discreet.
Natural Bamboo Charcoal Oil Absorbing Tissues - 100 Counts, Easy Take Out Design - Top Oil Blotting Paper, Premium Handy Face Blotting Sheets - Facial Skin Care or Make Up Must Have! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XENXJTO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ZX.SCbC58P9DS
back when my face was oily (once I passed 30, it turned from super oily to super dry) I used to mix my foundation with sunblock, a kind of DIY tinted moisturizer. I felt like the light application kept my face makeup from sliding off my face and into creases. I also avoided pressed/loose powder on most occasions. Instead, I opted for Palladio rice papers. I prefer the translucent ones personally, they match pretty much all skin tones. (I am super pale, and my bff back then was filipina. We used to split a pack of these...we were broke)
I have extremely oily skin. The best thing you can do is incorporate salicylic acid (referred to as bha). People on this sub love stridex because it's effective and cheap. Salicylic acid is important for oily skin because it's the only acid that goes inside the pore and cleans oil.
I actually don't think Proactiv is that bad. The best thing you can do for your skin is understand ingredients & what they do for you, then analyze your products based on that. I think a good routine could consist of: PM: Cleanse face, use stridex AM: (rinse face, optional), use a spf/moisturizer. My favorite moisturizers/spf are Blue Lizard, Olay spf 30, and Kao Biore Sunscreen. The last Biore sunscreen isn't moisturizing, really it's more mattifying.
Unfortunately there is no topical skin treatment that reduces how much oil you produce. Accutane will lessen it, but that's a serious drug. You'll see people here claim niacinamide reduces oil production, but there is no evidence for that. Speaking as someone that genetically has oily skin, the best thing I've done is use stridex, moisturize in the morning, and blot my makeup during the day with this If your a guy just using a napkin to blot would be fine.
If your oiliness has increased since starting Proactive, you may be able to help it by moisturizing more. Excessively drying out your skin can damage the moisture barrier & trigger more oil production. If it's genetic then you really have to just cope with it & rely on a good routine.

Questions
Don't wash your face too much, your skin could be greasy because it is too dry. If my face looks greasy during the day, I dab it with a tissue. There are oil absorbing sheets you can get too, like this. Wash with a cleanser, CeraVe is a very popular brand on this sub, and seriously look into some creams with active ingredients like BHA(aka salicylic acid), AHA(glycolic acid + a few others), and benzoyl peroxide. These are 3 things that you can get over the counter. Check out the wiki on the sidebar for "Acne" there are a couple of other ingredients you could look into as well, like vitamin C and clay. If you read this sub more you'll see people mention stuff like clindamcin or tretinoin, but those are Rx so go to a derm if you can.
Have patience! If will get better :)
Sorta related, but these oil blotting sheets are what I use daily. They're great. I've also seen some pretty good rubber brush cleaning devices on there for cheap.
Well, obviously I would use these to soak up the oil from my skin so I could have a flawless matte finish and attract the hottest pirates to come save me. You know, the ones who know turtles are awesome.
My skin type is dry. It's not dehydrated any longer. I hope others can help you out more, because my skin type has never been oily other than when I was like, 15. I used to have combo skin after starting 0.1% differin and some spots got quite oily and would break my makeup up and I had to use oil absorbing sheets (if anyone is looking for them, I like the paper like ones on amazon rather than the plastic ones like Clean & Clear. Because the C&C ones take my makeup off too!! The paper ones don't do that).
My skin type has always been combo, but it went from combo > dehydrated (cuz I f'd up) > dry > combo again after differin > dry again after starting tret
Edit: I heard light, hydrating, watery layers with maybe a gel or gel-cream are helpful for those with oily skin.
This stuff is my favorite! I stock up when I'm in Asia, or you can find these at specialty Japanese or Asian stores. You can also get them on Amazon (Prime eligible). I think these are a better deal than the Clean & Clear ones that are popular in the States.
See, I really like those because I always thought the pink/black combination looks classy! That being said, my inner child would never forgive me if I did choose those instead of magical, beautiful dinos.
Or pandas?😍 http://www.amazon.com/momoup-Makeup-Blotting-Papers-Absorbing/dp/B017VELMBI Although, it's the same problem as with normal papers. No cushion, or mirror thumbs down. But cute concept! haha
I got these from Amazon because they were really well reviewed by someone on r/mua. Just got them in so I haven't tried them yet, but they're super cheap! I have the Clean and Clear ones too, and I'm looking forward to trying these paper ones instead of those weird plasticy ones.
Well I am for once having a good monday at the office (maybe because noone else is here and its a prime day to sneak out early) - but for halloween, it is certainly not spooky scary, im going as Kramer. Not human Kramer, but my cat Kramer. I got this tshirt from Forever 21, and rocking it with cat ears and a tail! Lazy, but were not huge Halloween people! This is under $10!!
Thanks for the contest, cheer up!!
Blotting papers are a lifesaver. I use these and they are amazing. Also this mineral powder is great at keeping the shine away.
A cigarette paper will absorb liquid, and that's what double-reed players use it for.
United States paper currency will absorb liquid more slowly, but they are sort of sticky and sort of slick as the ink will slightly transfer to a clean piece of paper. They're strong enough (made with silk) to be able to pull a minute amount of gunk off of the pad.
A longer-lasting cure for stickiness is "powder paper", which is hideously expensive (but cheaper than an emergency visit to your tech) from Yamaha. It is the same as powder paper for makeup according to a friend who examined my Yamaha powder paper.
My Japanese students introduced me to oil blotting face papers.
These babies gently lift the oil while leaving any product like sunscreen or makeup still on the skin. Almost all of my Japanese ladies carried a pack and they came out like clockwork after lunch and after the workday was done. I received a pack as a gift (Shiseido as I recall) 20 years ago and never looked back!
I got these blotting sheets on Amazon and they're really great. They have a very pleasant scent too! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B017OY5ZZE/
> tea tree oil on pimples
> I'm allergic to salicylic acid
thirding the blotting paper suggestions. The clean & clear ones are good, I've also heard about these rice paper ones. Daiso has blotting paper for cheap as well.
I'm a huge fan of these blotting sheets. They're really great if you're wearing makeup, since they remove oil without removing/messing up makeup.
Not a doc, but oil blotter papers work great. You can get them at Target or probably most pharmacy stores. Mary Kay sells them, too. And, of course, Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Clean-Clear-Absorbing-Sheets-Count/dp/B003V57Q5I?th=1
Oil-absorbing wipes like these: https://www.amazon.com/Clean-Clear-Oil-Absorbing-Sheets-50-Count/dp/B001E96LSQ
Also, a circular polarizer actually does a pretty good job of reducing face shine.
Powder powder powder. Get a loose powder like the Laura Mercier one and a short and kinda stiff kabuki brush. Then after you've done your makeup, apply a ton of powder on top just placing it. If you don't look craaazy, you're not doing it right. Let it "bake" i.e. sit there on your face for a few minutes. Then take the kabuki and in small small circular motions, buff the powder in. Dust any excess off at the end with a loose brush. Bam, walking instagram filter in 90+ degree weather.
Bring oil plotting film in those cute roles and do it on the hour. You'll only take the powder off your face so the makeup stays.
I don't do water proof mascara, stuff takes my lashes with it when I take it off. I would just wear false lashes and use and eyelash curler to blend it all.
Compact mirror or mirror phone case to check your appearance.
Deodorant for daaaaaaaaaaaays.
Light perfume please, because the heat makes the stuff diffuse and carry through the air like crazy. I love perfume, but I've almost fainted in a small space before because of that kinda thing.
Dress cool in some sleeveless cotton pieces and bring a spray bottle of ice water or if you want to be fancy some refrigerated evian mist, spray from the neck down to keep yourself cool. Water has a really low specific heat meaning it leaches heat from anything it's in contact with to heat up and evaporate.
Eyelid primer is always great! Always an EoS lip balm! Makeup brush Makeup blotters Elf makeup palette!
You can use these. I use them all the time. They’re awesome.
Natural Bamboo Charcoal Oil... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XENXJTO?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
My little one just went back to school, my classes start the 26th I think
lunch containers 13.96
phonics book for the kiddo 3.56
Face blotting papers, ill be busy durning the day with school, this will keep my makeup looking nice 3.48 free shipping from Blue Scandal
Back to cool!
Was looking through Amazon and ordered these and really like them! I use them like once a day, so 100 goes a long way.
Even when I'm not that oily, like an hour after washing my face..ha! These help a ton with the shine. They're fairly discreet, except for the blue color, for touching up on the go.
http://www.amazon.com/Clean-Clear-Oil-Absorbing-Sheets-50-Count/dp/B003V57Q5I
They're really easy to find in Walgreens, target etc too. About $6.
A towel will smear the model's make up but try something like these blotting sheets, they remove the sheen from skin oils as well as sweat without having to apply more powder, so you can do it on the fly.
I am not too sure about the cause, but I can recommend you to get these Oil-absorbing sheets. These are magical at temporarily wiping your oily skins.
That sucks, because my skin is oily to begin with. I have some of these that I use sometimes and they turn a darker color where oil has been absorbed. I usually only need to use one or two, and I just used 5 to clean my face and neck lol. Guess I'll start carrying a pack around
A drying agent used daily like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Neutrogena-Oil-Free-Scrub-Grapefruit-Value/dp/B002Z72REI/ref=sr_1_fkmr2_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1493522894&sr=8-4-fkmr2&keywords=face+exfoliator+grapefruit+neutrogena
And rice paper for oil absorbing during the day when needed:
https://www.amazon.com/Pack-Palladio-Beauty-Paper-Translucent/dp/B00P7CNTQI/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1493522972&sr=8-2&keywords=rice+paper+skin
Ooh, Clean and Clear oil blotting sheets? Those should be in everyone’s bag.
I would suggest getting some Clean & Clear Oil-Absorbing Sheets and blotting your face when you get to work.
Can you keep mini disposable wash cloths (like baby wipes) or oil sheets (http://www.amazon.com/Clean-Clear-Oil-Absorbing-Sheets-Count/dp/B003V57Q5I/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1382829057&sr=8-2&keywords=Oil+sheets) on hand to wipe down your skin every hour or so? You might get oil buildup that bothers your skin which doesn't help if it stays on open pores for 5-6 hours.
It's caused from oily skin. You don't really require medicine, however a dermatologist may have medicated cleansers and lotions to suggest. If you want to try things without a rx, you can try this clay mask and blotting papers
Seconding blotting paper. These are great . I used to always have them in purse for shiny times.
btw these are the blotting papers on amazon (no referral link I promise), takes me about 6 months to go through 200
this.
not OP, but I think they mean these:
Japanese Premium Oil Blotting Paper 200 Sheets (B), Large 10cm x7cm https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005584GCK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_wiF4CbJ3PRKBK
http://www.amazon.com/Clean-Clear-Oil-Absorbing-Sheets-50-Count/dp/B003V57Q5I
Whats the order I should be using the following products in? :
I really need this. Add On item. $3.49
https://www.amazon.com/Palladio-Natural-Blotting-Absorbs-Looking/dp/B0013JG3KS
Dab your face with these before going out. Takes all the excess oil off without drying your face out, nothing to apply or rinse off, cheap, can do it anywhere quickly
this one is the first result if I put blotting sheets in amazon...I don't think brand matters so much though.
I'm obsessed with these oil absorbing sheets: www.amazon.com/Clean-Clear-Absorbing-Sheets-Count/dp/B003V57Q5I
I have oily skin too. Using an alum block will help you more. Directions: Rub the block over wet skin after making your shave passes and before applying aftershave. Alum can be very drying if you leave it on. Most people recommend rinsing it after a minute or so and then apply aftershave. I use an alum block daily with my shave.
I also use a pack of Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Wipes to control excess oil throughout the day.
I have the same problem, I use these:
https://www.amazon.com/Clean-Clear-Absorbing-Sheets-Count/dp/B003V57Q5I/ref=cm_cr_srp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8
Edit: I also find that using Stridex twice a day (morning and night) has helped a LOT.
My ladyfriend uses these bad boys which are roughly half the price.
