Some of these can also be found from retailers online, like Best Buy and Target. I generally use Best Buy, Amazon, and eBay, but check other retailers just in case.

Case: Looking for a protector that protects your system from scratches? Most people recommend the HORI TPU case. NA currently has one for the XL (LL in Japan), but you'll have to import one for the standard size.

• HORI TPU case for N3DSXL or sometimes the one from Japan is cheaper.
  
• HORI TPU case for N3DS, or just search "New 3DS HORI TPU" and look for the ones without XL/LL in the title.
  
  Looking for a pouch to keep your system from dust or to carry on-the-go and protect them from falls? There's sooo many options you can just search up on Amazon and eBay, not to mention other Japanese import sites.
  
  
• HORI Hard Pouch for N3DSXL is what I went with for my Fire Emblem N3DSXL. Looks plain and I admit I usually go for something different, but when I received it, it screamed good quality. It's black and looks classy, and there's room for 6 cartridges and a stylus. It also fits a system with the HORI TPU on. Alternatively, you can use this for the standard N3DS because it has a strap that will keep it in place.
  
• CyberGadget Mint Semi-Hard case for N3DSXL - I originally went for this one. It's fine if you just want to carry around your system, but that's all the room it has. It also had a weird chemical smoky smell that I'm still trying to air out (it's been over 2 weeks now). If the smell ever gets out, I'll use it. Maybe it's just the one I purchased.
  
• Trunk Case for N3DS - I have the blue one, and it's decent quality. These trunk cases seem to be in and out of stock though, and prices are unstable. If you can find one for a good price, I'd recommend it.
  
  Screen Protectors: Screens will inevitably get scratched, as careful as anyone can be. If you're someone who cannot stand scratches or want to keep your system in perfect condition, you can't go wrong with screen protectors.
  
  
• HORI Standard Screen Protectors for N3DSXL is what I had on my old N3DSXL. Here's one for the N3DS. Appliance is easy and they don't interfere with the 3D at all.
  
• HORI Blue Light Filtering Screen Protectors for N3DSXL and ones for the N3DS - I just wanted to reduce the blue light because I mainly play before I sleep. Research a bit about blue light if you'd like. I like them, they do the same job as the standard ones with the added blue light filtering.
  
  Micro SD card: Can't go wrong with Sandisk, and I purchased the 32GB since that's the highest Nintendo says the system will support. Any higher and you have to format it to FAT32 in your PC so the system will recognize it. Any good brand will be fine though, but I just go with Sandisk all the time.
  
  Stylus: This DSi stylus is so damn comfortable. I never thought it mattered because I just put up with the cramping, but I purchased some items on the Nintendo Online store, so I went for it. It's all I use now. The cheapest shipping is $5 on the store though, so go for it when you're ordering other items with it.
  
  Customization?
  For N3DS
  Coverplates: Amazon.JP if you have a forwarding service like Tenso. I like AmiAmi, but it's hard to catch the plates sometimes. PlayAsia tends to be more pricey, so sometimes you're better off just looking on eBay if your last resort is PlayAsia.
  
  For N3DSXL and N3DS
  
  Charms: Basically the same as the above. Many options around Etsy, just search what you want up. Up to your discretion. :)

  Yeah, I'm a HORI fan. Their products have been solid for me, so I have no qualms with them. I just wish more of their products would appear in NA so shipping times would be shorter, but I think the wait times have been worth it anyway.

Well I can't say much for the refurbished since I don't have one. But friend got one a few months back and he has had no problems with it plus it has a one year warranty if anything does happen.

As for the Aqua Blue I love the system. It is small and easily fits in jean pockets. But again it is small, so unless you have small hands(like me) you may get some hand cramps. It looks really nice with the glossy finish. But as a side effect it will get finger smudges. So be prepared for that. Also, the hinges may become slightly wobbly. It isn't anything major, nor is it an annoyance. Just something that happens. The stylus is very nice though. It's metal that can compress to a smaller size. The battery life is good enough. I don't know the full time on it but I play in short bursts since I have college and so I never have a problem with it being on low battery. I charge every other morning before classes.

As for some things you might ant to check out for the system. If you plan on playing on a bus or public areas you might want a wrist strap in the event someone tries to steal your system off you. It happens sometimes and it can be a way to stop the theft. Also, screen protectors will keep the screens look nicer. I don't have them yet but my friend does and you can see the difference between the two systems.

You will also want to check out Club Nintendo. You register Nintendo games here with a code in the case to get points. These points can redeem cool little prizes. Nothing big, sometimes downloadable games or Nintendo themed products. It's more fan service. And if you reach the milestones you get a special free reward that is unknown until next summer. Also, since there is no unified account system all digital purchases are tied to the console. But if you register it and your games you download Nintendo can get you pack your games if something happens to the system. It is far from an ideal to handle purchases but it is at least good to know about it.

Plus the games on the system are some of the best I've played this year, so there's that too. I hope this helps you make an informed decision and if you have any other questions just ask.

tl;dr
Possibly my favorite Nintendo handheld ever. I say you're missing out if you don't own one.

I use TPU cases for both of my N3DSXL's and another one I had to special order from overseas for my N3DS. They do a good job of protecting the systems and still allow me to see the designs on them since I wanted something clear as I have Monster Hunter faceplates on my black N3DS looks like this, and my XLs are the Galaxy Blue and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate units.

For carrying around, I have an Amazon Basics Case that is small and light and fits in a backpack or purse easily while protecting the whole system. Fits both N3DS and N3DSXL units with the TPU cases on and uses the elastic bands to hold them in place.

For storing at home so they're kept in good shape: I have two of the Smatree Hard Protective Carrying Case which is a much bulkier case, and allows me to keep a 3DS charger with the units if I don't put much else in the zippered pouch on the top half. The inner pouch with the ability to lift it out is an interesting design for keeping the system protected and is a snug fit for N3DSXL's with the TPU case on, but still doable.

eBay link for a New 3DS TPU case. I recommend this for N3DS units as the glossy plates are easy to scratch on N3DS units and the plates can be hard to get as it is, don't want them to get scratched when they're hard to find or expensive.

Finally, no matter what unit you get: Always use a screen protector and get one once you decide which system to get to have it ready for when you finally get your system. Some people have waited on getting protectors and have scratched screens day one since the plastic over the touch screen is quite soft.

New 3DS XL Tempered Glass Protector Set Note: I have used and recommend the HORI brand, but those seem to be out of stock on Amazon and I'm not sure where to look for it.

Then, there's also GRIPS for the units as they're quite small and thin and quite a few people have problems holding their units. I like the styles from CyberGadget and use their grips, but there's also silicone grips that some people like. You can take off the TPU case on the bottom and put the grip on and just store the TPU case somewhere as you use the top half of the TPU case to protect the top shell of your unit. Obviously, any grip out there will bulk up your system and make them less portable and unable to fit in any of the cases. However if you're at home, it's nice to be more comfortable with your gaming sessions.

The two I'll link are my preferred grips for several reasons: They keep everything on the 3DS accessible as some of the grips are known for blocking off the game card slot and even the stylus, they have a game card door on the back that can store 2 game cards in there, they're easy to put on and take off, and won't scratch your system as they're covered in a rubberized material.

The best protection options apply to most other devices out there as well. It is not very complicated, but you can find a variety of protection accessories online.

Screen protectors are a no-brainer. Clear ones do not obstruct viewing and they are vasically invisible. Get Hori brand ones if you like an easier installation method and a brand name, or get some other cheaper ones that function just as well like the illumishield protectors, which I use.

Then for cases, you got body cases and carrying cases. You mostly only need one, but having bothel would be great as well. I prefer just any EVA case I think they are called. It is like soft, touch plastic material and usually they have zippers and a strap to hold the DS inside.

As for cheapness, just go on Amazon and check lol. I think there are a bunch of cheap options there. I will link a few too in a bit.

These screen protectors are good.

The cases I linked are all basically the same except for some with a few key differences. One has a carrying strap, one has more room for games, one is really cheap, but lacks game holding slots, and one is supposedly waterproof. There are other ones, but they are all basically the same. I wouldn't recommend the one without game slots.

Also, there are clear body cases and silocon cases on Amazon, so check those out as well. You seem to have planned far ahead, so no matter you finances, I hope this is affordable to you sometimes between now and then :).

Hori Screen Protectors - easy to apply and gives you the assurance of not scratching your screen.

Better Stylus - the one that comes with the 3ds is fine but I find getting a better stylus works wonders when playing a stylus heavy games. Rocketfish sells stylus similar to the ones that came with the dsi xl in packs of 2 and I think can still be found at bestbuy.

Carrying case - if you like bringing your 3ds around for streetpass then putting it in a carrying case and tossing it into a bag will prevent wear and damaged to the system itself. I'm currently using a Hori carrying case and I find it pretty handy and it can hold 3 games.

Bigger SD card - if you plan on downloading from the e-shop then a nice 32gb sd card is great.

Assist grip - coolclown makes a nice assist grip that I find really comfortable if you plan on using your 3ds for long periods of time.

Crystal clear case - some people don't like the extra bulk but I like them for protecting the outside of the 3ds. If you purchased a limited edition 3ds then a hori tpu casing doesn't add too much bulk and protects your handheld.

I'm currently using this body cover for my 3DS. It provides awesome grip, and it looks pretty amazing as well. It adds a little bit of bulk, but it still fits in my pocket.

For screen protectors, I use these Hori protectors. They are a bit expensive (8 bucks for just top and bottom screens) but the application method is extremely intuitive, making the application process really easy. Even after about 6-7 months, they work perfectly.

Do you need one? Probably not. It's more down to how much peace of mind you think it'll give you.

I'm usually pretty careful with my devices, but I got a scratch on the top screen from what must have been a grit of something stuck on the microfiber cloth I normally use. The experience made me conscious of how often I wipe down the bottom screen from using the bottom screen with my fingers, and I definitely didn't want to scratch up the bottom one like I did with top screen.

I got the Hori one for N3DS XL, and I like it. It's not noticeable unless you actively look for it, plus it gives me enough peace of mind. Also while I don't plan on doing so, it is removable though you have to do it carefully.

I had ordered a hori LL one off ebay and it took almost 2 months to get here and it was bent when it got here. So it would always have an air bubble in the middle where the bend was. Also keep in mind the hori ones also only come with 1 set in the package so have fun if you mess up putting it on.

Since I didn't want to wait another 2 months again I then just ordered these ones off amazon. Iv been using them for about 3 weeks now.

I'm overall pretty happy with these ones.

The top glass one is fantastic. 3d still works just fine with it. The bottom PET one suffers from what even the hori ones do. they are not edge to edge. you are going to have a small gap around all the edges(if you get in in the center). its really small gap and you wont notice it at all when playing. You will just see that its not edge to edge when the screen is off. From the few games I play that require the touch screen I haven't notice any degradation of sensitivity with it on either. So like I said before I'm overall pretty happy with these.

Hori TPU case for sure, they are great and wont scratch up the 3ds like other cases. This is the hori tpu case i have, the previously linked case is a harder tpu plastic.

skins you can get lots of places, depends on what you like. I have the zelda 3ds XL and it looks great through the clear hori tpu case, decals/ skins also come though great.

Removing them is not easy, but that is the case for all screen protectors.

I take my 3DS XL everywhere I go, mainly for the StreetPasses (I try to hit up Home Depot parking lots or go in a Barnes & Noble for those) and the Play Coins.

I did have it in my back pocket, but I didn't realize how much more the XL stuck out of my pocket and I scraped it up a good bit just by sitting in chairs. Fortunately I managed to get a good replacement, and not only do I have the Hori Duraflexi clear protective case on it, but I use this thing as a waist pouch to carry all my stuff in. I've never liked carrying purses, but a waist pouch seems like an acceptable compromise as it's basically a big external pocket. And sitting down is suddenly a lot more comfortable without all the stuff in my back pockets -- I never realized how uncomfortable it actually was until I stopped.

I like Hori products. Get a soft case like this one to help prevent scratches. Please note, it is soft plastic, and if you keep stretching when you put it on/off, the back piece may get loose.

Screen protectors are a must! Do NOT get matte/anti-glare ones, get HD clear. The anti-glare ones (just like anti-glare phone ones), have a lot of little dots to help block light. This can sometimes mess with the 3d, or otherwise make the screen look grainy. I used the ones that came with this butterfox kit, but I'm sure there are better ones out there. Better cases out there, but very good price for what came with it.

1. There is a 4GB included with the system and it fills up almost instantly. If you want to go digital then you will need to get a bigger MicroSD. NOTE: Anything larger than 32GB must be formatted to FAT32 before use. You can find a How-To guide in this Subreddits Wiki page.

I recommend either a Hori TPU clear case that will protect the 3DS from scratches. Or you can get a Hard Cover that just clips onto the system. I got this Gudetama one for my Black N3DSXL. There are many other designs on amazon, play-asia.com etc.
   
   You can also look into decals that you stick on your 3DS from Decalgirl.com as these also protect the system from scratches.

You mentioned that the TNP case has a tendency to scratch the systems up, but I was considering picking up a Skinomi set for the Galaxy edition I have coming in next week. Do you think that, coupled with the TNP case would be a good fit? I've got the Hori Duraflex on my Pikachu 3DS XL and while I do love it, it has had a tendency to pick up dye from the carrying case it's in and has started to yellow around the edges, so I've been considering other options. And, as you've noted, the rubber does tend to absorb shock better, as well as resist scratching much better as well, but the fact that it doesn't fit snugly on the N3DSXL worries me. Am I being paranoid?

I bought the Skinomi Full Body Screen Protector for my 3DS. I read a lot of the reviews and heard mostly positive stuff. A very small number of people claimed that it could damage the 3DS, but from my experience, possible damage is not an issue. Although application was tedious because of a lack of a diagram, all of the panels applied evenly and without much issue. Now my entire 3DS is protected and has a nice light sheen to it.

If you just care about the screens, then there's also a Skinomi variant that just has the protectors for the screens. A lot of people like the HORI protectors too, although personally I can't say whether or not they are good. Hope this helps, and I hope you find what you are looking for.

HORI also makes a Duraflexi TPU case for the n3DS for what it's worth (which is also clear, but textured on the inside giving it an ever so slightly cloudy appearance), not just screen protectors.

And if you're the kind of person who is into pouches, this Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate pouch is pretty awesome I think.

The only reason I didn't install a protector when I got my 3ds around 2 months ago is because I was worried it would decrease the screen sensivity, I just installed it and tried Final Fantasy Theatrhythm, and it worked perfectly P: too bad I wait so long I have a couple of small scratches on my system.

Also my reason to go with HORI is because they have a really nice applying process :) look for it on youtube it's super easy and it works great.

Since I have a pretty decal, I use this to protect and show it off. I always have it in my hand, like the girls who hold their clutch purse thingy.

If I'm in a Kingdom Hearts or Monster Hunter mode, I just remove the bottom part of the protector, and snap on my CPP and continue my day

Case is good, had the blue one for about two weeks now. Nice texture, perfect fit, easy to remove if you need to use the XL CPP. Solid purchase for $13. Also comes in red.

I'm getting a New 3DS XL for X-mas so I was in the same boat as you, on google/reddit/amazon/youtube I was looking to see what I should get. Here's what I ultimately decided on:

• HORI Duraflexi Clear Protector - this seems really popular here. Clear and still offers some protection.

Since you have a special edition you don't want it to get scratched! Also get some screen protectors, I think Hori makes some. 3DS screens tend to scratch themselves (even though supposedly the problem is fixed, don't risk it, trust me.)

Do you want like a carrying case or one that actually snaps onto the 3DS to protect it?

For the former, I have this and it works really well. For the latter, most people recommend the clear Hori case.

I used this generic hard plastic case for a long time and really liked it. They come in a variety of colours too if you do some searching. It says "rubberized" but it's not rubber at all, just slightly transparent hard plastic. I recently switched to this one (also available in a variety of colours) and it looks really nice, but it makes the WiFi act funny if I'm too far from the router.

TPU is kinda like a hard rubbery material, it feels really nice and won't scratch your 3DS at all.
The case you linked will fit the TPU case and your 3DS, I have a case like that and it fits perfectly.

It's great! It's super comfy, and fits on quite nicely. I use it to protect an autograph, but it'll work to resist scratches and smudges perfectly fine.

This. is the case I am talking about. Very happy with it as I wanted something a bit rubberised and not hard plastic. This is still a little firmer than I wanted but it does the trick. I also wanted something clear as I really liked the 3DS XL I got (Gold Zelda edition) so the fact that it was see through was a big plus. I don't know how well it will protect from a drop as it is very form fitting but it protects the finish and offers a little bit better grip. If you have bigger hands get this case!

I can't link the hard shell zipper case that I got as I got it in store and can't find it online but it is your standard hard shell case with a little padding in case you drop it.

A circle pad pro XL if you buy a game that supports it is nice, other things like a 3DS usb charger cable + external battery pack if you need the juice for trips are handy.

But aside from the screen protector which I highly recommend the rest are optional.

I used skin protector to keep my 3ds in pristine condition. I bought my 3ds in 2015, and attached the skin protector since day 1 and the paint never flakes.

If transparent skin protector was too plain for you, you can choose many skin designs from decalgirl to keep the paint intact.

Alternatively, buy 3ds grip. Not only does it protect your 3ds like case does, but it also provides grip comfort for playing. I used dreamgear silicone grip for 3ds. It is bulky, but it protects your device well.

Based on the little research I've done, the clear Duraflexi protector seems to be the best clear case for the 3DS XL. It protects from scratches, not impact and is not perfectly clear but is probably as good as it gets. Other cases have been said to scratch the 3DS.

I'm pretty sure that every generation of Pokemon games has gotten a LE handheld, so it wouldn't hurt to wait. If it's not announced by mid-October, then we likely aren't. Another idea you could do is get the black system and this Pokemon case. It will protect your device and look really cool.

I use the Hori Duraflexi TPU case to protect my FE N3DS. My only complaint is the case makes the 3DS look off-white instead of white. Other than that it's been great. When traveling, my laptop bag has a pouch that's the perfect size for my system. The top of the system barely sticks out of the slot, so I can easily check to see if I've got any street passes or notifications.

As a fellow owner of the Zelda 3DS XL, I highly recommend that you get the Hori TPU case and some screen protectors to go along with it.

No matter how careful you are, your 3DS is bound to take some degree of damage eventually. This case does an excellent job of protecting it from normal bumps and wear (it won't do much if you drop it, but that hopefully wouldn't happen) while still showing off the design. Screen protectors are just good to have.

An additional note: I also suggest getting some sort of cleaning cloth to put between the two screens when you close the system: the bezel on the touch screen will scratch up the top screen.

Interesting, that glossy feature is what made me think it would be far worse than my Pikachu. Since my Pikachu was fine naked, that would mean I should fair well with my MM naked.

I have a Hori case for the N3DSXL, but I'm not a big fan. I can't use the charging dock or a proper sleeve. It's pretty much the case and that's it. I much prefer a proper sleeve like Waterfield.

I got my NN3DS XL at the end of March for my 23rd birthday, and it still looks as good as new. Absolutely no marks or scratches, etc. It's had screen protectors since pretty much day 1, and this case protects the shell. I also keep it in this case when not in use. I use a microfiber cloth to clean the screens when I change the screen protectors (only done that once so far).

HORI has the easiest to apply Screen Protectors and best case available. The case is soft so you don't have to worry about scratching the clam shell itself.

I think this is a bit extreme. The build quality is lighter, but that's part of slimming it down (in terms of weight and cost). You can get a case cover for it for maybe $10, which you should buy for any portable like this anyway, as well as screen protectors. I bought this case, with these screen protectors, and later replaced the bottom half of the case with some hand grips. All good stuff whether you have a 2DS XL or 3DS XL.

As for the down firing speakers... I don't get it. I mean, they sound fine to me. Even when covered by the hand grips, there's no issues with the audio and the thing gets pretty loud with no rattle. In any case, whether it's the 3DS XL or 2DS XL you're not gonna get great audio quality without headphones, so what's the BFD?

Lastly, regarding the price... I think it depends on your wants. The 2DS XL comes with Mario Kart 7, which is a $30 value, and one thing people often leave out regarding the 3DS XL is that it doesn't include a charging cord, which is another $10 or so (the 2DS XL includes this). All told, since I was going to buy Mario Kart 7 anyway and needed a charging cord, I think in total the 3DS would have cost me around $250 (it was $210 online, and there were none available retail at the time) but I got the 2DS XL with everything included for $149.

Does anyone have recommendations for good screen protectors for the 3DS XL? Generally I'd get the official ones, but they seem to be discontinued/super expensive.

The one that OP has is cute but it's hard immobile plastic which after having that on my n3DS XL for a year has scratched mine up through moving slightly and getting dirt and crumbs in it. This one ^^^ flexes and I haven't had any new scratches since. I love it.

Because I use and abuse my touchscreen and it's prone to scratches, I will always, always recommend a protector on the bottom screen. This may only apply if you play stylus-heavy games like EBA/Osu!, Picross, etc. I like knowing I can swap a protector in a few years and it'll be good as new.

The official Hori protectors have a really nice application method that's almost impossible to mess up. There's a small bit of temporary adhesive on one side to help you line it up, then you apply it for real one half at a time.

I have the hori duraflex for the n3ds xl and it comes on and off pretty easily. I ordered the n3ds equivalent for when I pick up the pokemon edition because it does it's job very well.

For anyone that doesn't want the hassle of installing the Skinomi, the HORI Duraflexi cases are great. Everyone in my house used the previous version for the XL and enjoyed them.
Here is a cheaper alternative on eBay and the same sans extra stylus (styli?).

Also if your don't already have a charger, I suggest USB chargers. I've been using just USB chargers for months now and they are more convenient. Also if you travel alot, there is no issue with power voltages. Official US 3DS chargers will not work overseas.

All current 3DS XL cases should work with the N3DS XL as will screen protectors.

Why though? You can use FTP for your every day needs. Also I think everybody should use this

I was always the same way with handhelds but I decided to take the dive after getting a Zelda XL. I was referring to getting a clear, protective cover for your 3DS. You can still see the awesome vinyl AND it won't get all scratched up!

Get the HORI screen protectors, they are sold out on amazon but they will be back on stock on March 10, they are worth every penny, easy to apply and if I am not mistaken, they help preserve the anti reflective on the top screen.

Get the Hori TPU Cover for protection or the DreamGear Comfort Grip for protection and comfort (you'll need it for Smash).

Is getting a screen protector worth it? How many scratches have you guys gotten on your screens? My last nintendo handheld was the DSi, so I'm not really sure if I'll need one.

Also, what about the clear protector? I'm getting the MH4U edition, so obviously I'd like to preserve the nice painting, but I'm just not sure if it's necessary.

Honestly thought you were being sarcastic at first lol. But yeah if you use it an excessive amount like Pokémon Ranger where you had to furiously draw circles around the bottom screen you can mess it up. I've had the O3DS since launch as well as the Pokémon edition N3DS, crystal blue 2DS, gold Zelda 3DSXL and the black N3DSXL and those screens are in mint condition since the stylus isn't used as much anymore

For body cover, i recommend This gametech soft cover over Hori duraflexi case. the Gametech case has a couple of clips that hook into the lanyard loop holes on the back. If you're annoyed because hori case doesnt really stick to the device, then you're gon love this gametech case. One thing to note is taht the case itself actually has a frost color rather than clear

For the carrying case, I use this Takecase 3ds xl case. It can store up to 8 games in its central compartment. It also has a inner zip storage where you can store a charger and still have room for 5-8 games more. There's a mesh net that holds the 3ds xl on its place. It has everything that I want from a 3ds xl carrying case. There are other alternatives, but they have very snug space, and don't have inner zip storage

If you aren't sure about the galaxy, you might want to consider getting a plainer new 3ds XL and decorating it a bit. There are some cool Pokemon-themed decals and cases and things that work well with the plain black or red. Lots of them if you look around on Amazon and Etsy. Hori as a company is one of the few I feel put forth "Nintendo Quality" in their product so buy with confidence, I haven't been burned on any product I ever bought from them. I currently have my Link Between Worlds XL housed in this, which is housed in this and I recommend them both. My only complaint about the pouch is it's specifically designed to house the system and like 6 games, but there's no room for a charger. If they made a new model that could fit one though, I'd buy it.

You need to buy the new duraflex protector for the new 3ds. Old one won't fit.

After reading this sub, this seems to be the most recommended. I have a pair and once applied properly they're unnoticeable, but I recommend you look up youtube tutorials/read up before trying to apply them. It's a little trickier than advertised IMO.

Ah, thanks, for some reason I thought heat/steam might work. Although, I think you might either be mistaking my case for one of the regular stick on protectors or are thinking they might both have the same fixes, which they might, but it's hard to say so far. Just in case, I'm using something like this. Not the exact same one but the exact same type.

What's a good screen protector the New 2DS XL? The Hori one on Amazon looks like it's the licensed version but I wasn't sure if something else is out there that people recommend. The accessories wiki on here doesn't seem to include anything on the 2DS XL unfortunately.

There is a clear case you can use for it, however it won't be a hard case. This one should work, afaik.

From the start NoA was only pushing the XL in the US and just recently started selling the standard size N3DS. When I tried Gamestop, Walmart, and BestBuy a few weeks ago looking for protectors for my new N3DS I had no luck. Got mine from Amazon no problem. The TPU is a flimsy plastic. It goes around the outside of the 3DS. ChargersDen had a post earlier today that probably answers all your questions.
