(Part 3) Reddit mentions: The best nintendo switch games

That's a hard age, but here's a few suggestions.

Pokemon Quest, which also has the added bonus of being free.

Crayola Scoot, currently on sale for $3

Donut County. There is text but it's completely unnecessary to play the game. The gameplay is easy to understand and I have yet to meet the kid that doesn't like making things fall down holes. Probably the most likely single player game to be successful out of the list.

In my experience adult\child co-op is the best to keep kids that age interested in a game.

The LEGO Movie 2 video game, LEGO Marvel Super Heros 2, and LEGO Disney Pixar's The Incredibles are just around $20 on Amazon. Pick the franchise she likes the most. I would not suggest sitting her down by herself to play these. There's some semi precise platforming and light puzzles that are likely to frustrate her. I also would not suggest getting one of the open world Lego games like Lego City or Lego Worlds. Linear games are the way to go when they're learning.

  The only bonus as of right now is Piranha Plant as a playable character. All you need to do is pre-order or get the game and register it before Jan 31st to get it free. It should be released early next year.
  
  There's the Fighter Pass, which is SMash's season pass for $25. It include 5 unannounced characters and stages (along with music for those stages). They are expected to all have been released by Feb 2020. Each individual pack would cost $6. If you get the pack, you will receive and exclusive Rex (Xenoblade Chronicles 2) outfit for mii fighters.
  
  There are a few bundles, though you will probably have to pay above retail for them now. Thankfully, you can buy all the important things that come with those bundles separately at basically the same price.

• Should I play this with a GC controller or a switch pro controller? Probably prefer GC since I've played melee as a kid.
  
  I prefer the GCN controller myself, and generally they play with them at the pro level. The Gamecube adapter and controllers were released a few days ago, so you can get those now. Adapters are 20, controllers are 30 a piece. If you have old GCN controller around, they will work as well.
  
  I would recommend getting a Switch Pro if you plan to get other Switch games, it is really a great controller. There's a smash themed Pro controller that you can still get link it's only $5 more than a regular pro controller. Aside from aesthetics, it works exactly the same as other pro controllers.
  
  
• I don't own a switch nor do I know how it works. Do I have to connect to a tv? If I don't connect to a tv can I still play on the switch screen with a gc controller or does the screen only work with joy cons attached?
  
  Switch works but in portable mode and connected to a TV. It also has a stand on the back so you can play it on what is referred to tabletop mode. Even in portable mode, you can use any controller. In the case of GCN controllers, the adapter connects to the dock so you can't do it natively. The Switch itself only has a USB-C. I assume that you can get an USB-C adapter to be able to connect the GCN Adapter but I haven't tried it myself.
  
  Could I use my laptops screen it has a full size hdmi port? (Dell G7 15)
  
  I don't know much about this, but HDMI ports in laptops are usually just HDMI out, so I would assume it won't work. If you can connect anything else there and display it on screen (another console, blu ray player, etc) I don't see why it wouldn't work.

• I'm a sword player and probably going to pick up a Fire Emblem sword user or Cloud. Which is the easiest to get into? Can someone rank the sword users for me from best to worst? I really like Marth because of M2K and Zain. He's so flashy and fun to watch someone getting pivot tippered or Ken combo'd. God Marth is so awesome. Atleast in Melee.
  
  I'm not into the competitive scene so I don't know anythign about tiers and rankings, but I do enjoy sword fighters. Marth is still fun and probably the easiest to learn, though he is not as good as he used to be in Melee. Lucina is his echo and the main differences are that she is a bit faster and her sword doesnt have more power in the tip.
  
  Other than that, it depends on your fight style. Link and Toon Link are versatile, Ike is slow but powerful (think Bowser/Ganondorf), Roy plays fairly differently from Marth this time around and not as enjoyable imo.
  
  My personal rankings from those in Smash 4 are - Ike, Marth, Toon Link, Lucina, Cloud, Link, Roy, Mii Fighter
  Corrin and Shulk are technically sword fighters, but they stab rather than swing for smash attacks so they feel a bit different. Shulk is probably the hardest one to learn out of all these, because his neutral B basically boost different categories. Corrin has great range and a solid counter, but again, doesn't really feel like a sword fighter to me.

Tiny Barbarian is not widely discussed as far as I can tell and it's an absolutely enjoyable game. It's difficult but not enough to push you away very long and it has TWO PLAYER support! Love me some couch co-op! Plus the game is really cheap for the amount of gameplay (assuming you die a lot like I do) and it's really great to just pick up and jump into. A copy of Doom (2016) for Switch, which runs only on the Switch, is $60 on Amazon right now.

A copy of Doom (2016) for SMACH Z or GPD Win 2 costs $6.59 right now on Steam, normal price $19.99, and it's functional on any PC-compatible machine running or emulating Windows.

The GPD Win series and the SMACH Z aren't Nintendo-cheap, but the games are fungible with other platforms and don't cost Nintendo prices, either. How many $60 Switch games does it take before the alternatives get very attractive?

Did you actually spend $50 on DQB physical? Most physical games can be bought for less than the official retail price - e.g. on Amazon.com you can save $5.39 by buying physically, even without the Prime discount. That's equivalent to 539 gold points.

As a general rule, buying physical gives more of a discount than the value of the gold points you'd earn by buying digitally. Usually significantly more of a discount, such that people who buy digitally feel the prices aren't fair to them.

Also, when you buy digitally, there's less of a cost to Nintendo/the devs, due to not needing to produce the cartridge and box or ship the games. Also, if you buy directly from the eShop, they don't have to share the profits with a game store, either. So they can afford to give more gold points.

Amazon have it available standalone :) they just email you the download code as soon as you buy it so just buy from there and enter the code in the eshop.

Remember though I linked the UK store. I don’t know if the codes are region locked on switch so if your not British look on your own amazon instead :)

It's sort of a weird situation. It's not officially announced for North America (or Europe) at this time, but during the Switch event they never specified "in Japan" like they did for X and XI.

It's not listed on Nintendo's Switch product slate for the West, nor has Square Enix said anything about it outside of Japan. Yet, despite all of that, some retailers do still have pre-order links for it:

In short its a theory based off this Amazon listing for the Smash Bundle. It shows 2 empty slots at the end, one is for Isabelle, one is for the last proper newcomer. You would have to get the bedrock edition on Switch. I don't have a Switch so I'm not great on the details but I think they have one called the Switch edition, that one is not cross platform.

Just went to pick this up at my local Target for my son's birthday. In store price was $60, but I scanned it with the cartwheel app, and the $44.99 online price popped up. Store price matched no problem!
