First of all, I'd do a little rearranging and put the couch opposite the fireplace, and the two chairs along the wall where the couch is now. Then put the tall lamp in the corner, and perhaps a tall plant if you can get one. That would make the couch the main focal point of the room when you walk in the door. Right now it's obtrusive because it's kind of right in the circulation.

Could you paint the coffee & side tables? One or two quarts of chalk paint or milk paint (you don't have to sand) will work wonders. I'd paint them either white, light gray, or even navy. That would really modernize those pieces.

With some accessories I think you could achieve a cool bohemian look. Switch out the lamp shades for both the lamps (if you can, it's hard to tell what the larger lamp is in the photo). Something like this or this. Take the current throw off the grey lounge chair, pick up a couple of colorful throws. Here's a good example of one but you can look at TJ Maxx, World Market, Pier 1 Imports, or antique/consignment shops in your area for something similar. Get at least 4 more throw pillows, also in different colors. Navy, orange, red, emerald, gold.. You want to mix and match colors, textures, and patterns to make it look curated but effortless. The above stores are great sources for those as well.

Put up some wall art, a macrame wall hanging with some color like this one would be perfect to tie everything together. Then some framed botanical prints as well. If you're on a super budget you can even print them at your local print shop. Audubon's Birds of America are un-copyrighted and you can download full resolution images for free. Then just pick a size to print them as, such as 11x17 or 18x24 that you can easily buy frames for. There are many other un-copyrighted botanicals/animal studies up for grabs. For the coffee table I'd get some cute coasters like these marble ones, and maybe a terrarium with some succulents or air plants.

Hmm. Any specific terrariums you want an estimate on or the entire thing?
Edit: Nevermind. I'll just give you a rundown of what I bought. Don't be scared off by the price, just start small. I recommend the Super Mix Moss from Appalachian Emporium to start you off, some cheap pot soil at home depot, mesh for the filter, pebbles/driftwood from outside and glassware at a thriftshop or wherever. Though I think getting springtails might be a must to keep the habitat clean from mold and such. Overall, it should cost you no more than $30-40 depending on what you get. I just happened to go overboard these past two months :)

Hey there! Thank you so much for the compliments! I actually have this set: link

Its flat on one side with a hole in the glass to let you mount it easily. It comes with little command strip hooks too! This is just one set but I have another set that I don't know what to do with, lmao.

I'd love to see how your room looks, I bet its so cute too!

And thank you! I got the stands off of houseplantshop.com! I LOVE buying plants from here and their stands are so nice but they said that their stands are on backorder until they get more from the supplier. :( I put in an order for 10 more and they called to tell me that, lmao.

u/Beagle_Bailey · 3 pointsr/JUSTNOMIL

Not rosyncrantz, but this looks fairly doable. (And I'm not the craftiest person.)

I'd go to Joann's or Michael's.

Get some decorative branches and put them into a green foam base that's used for flower arrangements. Get some fake flowers to cover the base, or get some white satin fabric and bunch around it like a Christmas tree.

In your pic, you have crystals dangling from bead strands. Joann's sells both. The strands come in like 6-12 inch lengths, and come in a variety of bead types. And get some cool tear drop crystals. They come with holes. Just get jewelry rings to fasten them to you beade strands.

The tea light holders, I'm not sure if Joann's would have them, but there are some on Amazon. Like this or this. There are now plenty of battery powered tea lights that flicker and look nice. Get a box.

The hardest part is going to be getting the decorative branches. The one in the picture looks like some grayish birch, but they will probably be dark brown in the stores. You could keep that color and drape it with crystals and beads. Or you may want to spray paint them, and I would go with a soft gray instead of a white. You may also be able to find some (relatively) cheap trees on stands as Christmas decorations.

Good luck!

Congratulations! you're a big girl now! It's so liberating to live on your own. I miss it.

Plants are a great item to have around the house. Something like this is low maintenance and appealing to look at. :)

So for the terrariums I borrowed the globes from a family friend, but I found some on Amazon pretty cheap, I bought the succulents on sale at Lowe's, I bought them over time and kept them alive until the wedding, then I assembled them the day before with potting soil. (Our venue rents by weekend so we set up Friday for the Saturday wedding)

I know that your favorite subject at Hogwarts is herbology, so please enjoy your birthday gift!

u/abanzhoff · 3 pointsr/houseplants

Exactly. I got them from Amazon. They are bigger than I expected but they are pretty cool.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071H53T9V/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_HvN2AbJFNQQP9

I also bought some cubicle wall hooks to use with them as the ones it comes with are for walls.

So basically I was looking every where for them. Went to a bunch of few stores. Then the last store I came to ( Michaels ) which is an art and craft store in Canada and US, and they had a bunch on sale for 40% off plus same for the cactus. So it came to 21$ CAD for the terrarium, 9$ CAD for the cactus, and like 2$ CADfor the stones from dollarama. I did a quick search on amazon and if you type in geometric terrarium, you can find lots ranging from 25$-50$ CAD. Bellow is basically the same as mine

Once the glass and window taxes were repealed, greenhouses and conservatories became very popular in Victorian and Edwardian England. There are card boxes in that form.

https://www.amazon.com/PierSurplus-Decorative-Tabletop-Greenhouse-Terrarium/dp/B075Y7V3H9

You can buy a plastic garden urn. Place a pot of trailing ivy in the top (glue it in if necessary for security) and cut a slit in the side for cards.

https://www.amazon.com/s?k=garden+urn&ref=nb_sb_noss_1

Following that theme you could use a gardening journal, which were and still are, used by devoted gardeners

I'm using terrariums in my wedding as well, I'm putting candles in them, but they are hanging terrariums, if that's something you'd be interested in.

u/MRS2007 · 2 pointsr/houseplants

Amazon... it's always Amazon, haha!

u/yeahyeahsuresuree · 1 pointr/weddingplanning

I bought the large rectangular and large square box. The square box should fit the cards but I bought the rectangular one just in case. I figured that I can either return it if I don't need it or add little mementos and photos from our proposal to display at the wedding and later use it as a wedding keepsake box that'll include our invitations or a dried version of my bouquet if it fits!

I also bought this little ring box. I'm planning on tying our rings with a silk ribbon and leaving it on the guest book table with a sign for people to warm before sitting for the ceremony.

Amazon has a few different shapes - just a little bit cheaper than the ones on World Market (not sure how the size compares though)

It was on amazon! here

I saw them once in a plant book. I bought the bows from a local thrift store and made the wooden stands myself. A fellow redditor found them on amazon :

Just off of Amazon, it was a random assortment so I didn't know exactly what to expect. This is the link I used: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014LSWSFQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I didn’t make it OR buy it (I call it my “mystery stand” as it just showed up on my door step one day from amazon) but here’s the listing!
