This dress is really, really cute on. It's $25. I wear it with or without a belt. It's shrunk a little in the wash, but held up surprisingly well.

This dress is $14 and really cute on. However, I'd be careful with this one as the bust area seems to either not fit a lot of women or gap open too widely. For work, I have to pin the wrap and bust. I've gotten so many compliments on this dress though, and it's really comfortable.

These heels are not exactly what I purchased (they don't have that item anymore), but they're the same brand and color. The ones I bought had a higher heel. They've held up really well for cheap shoes (I usually stay away from low-end shoes) and I've gotten so many compliments on them. They've gotten a little dirty because of the color but that's normal for light colored shoes. They're really comfortable and I wear them everywhere.

I usually avoid buying new clothes-- I'm a big fan of thrifting because it's more environmentally friendly, more fun, and I can find better build quality for a lower price. However, Amazon satisfies my fast-fashion cravings pretty well for a fraction of the price. Because I live where it's warm all the time, the thinner/breezier material of less expensive clothes actually works out pretty well.

Hello, fellow MN and fellow size 10 shoe bride!

This pair has been on my amazon list for quite some time. I think they're elegant and adorable!

Since you're a summer bride, how do you feel about sandals? Here is a really cute pair (comes in our size in gold and silver).

These are super cute but they have a tiny kitten heel. Not sure how you feel about that.

Here is a pair of some pretty blingy ones. Not sure if they go with your dress, but... sparkles!!! :)

One last pair, I hope you enjoy some of these! I think they're all super cute but I didn't read all the reviews so do some research. Don't count out amazon! Good luck!

EDIT: I am so sorry, I totally missed the color suggestions. I am so sorry. There are some better suggestions in here than mine! So sorry!!!

I have these Frye block heel sandals that literally go with everything. They're casual enough to not look too fancy with jeans, but nice enough to go dressier, and the heel is low enough to be super comfortable.

Agree with you about the booties. They're great for that borderline casual/nice line. I have a pair of kitten Rockstuds that look amazing with jeans, too, but honestly I usually save those for bigger events because I love them and worry too much about ruining them. I feel like shoes with some sort of interest always look good with more casual outfits and look more purposeful than basic black pumps.

Hi everyone! I love this subreddit and hope I am posting correctly. I read the sidebar and How to Ask for Help, but I wasn't sure if it was a Simple Question since there are few parts of it I'm having trouble with, rather than just one.

I recently bought this dress, love it, and it looks very nice on me.

The thing is, I want to wear it to work in a business casual environment. I work with patients. I did wear it once in the cooler months with opaque black tights, black flats, and a black cardigan, and liked it, but really want to wear it more often and have no idea how to style it.

These are the issues I'm having:

  • I have a very long torso and am thin, so it is short. Too short to wear with bare legs or even thin tights, I think. So that throws me off.

  • My only work shoes are black flats (other than boots and a pair of ballet-style Toms that are black and white), but I am willing to buy new pair of shoes for work. I might be buying these for these warm months but am quite certain they won't go! But I don't like buying a lot of things and love getting a lot of use out of the minimal things I do own, so want to love shoes. I am not sure what style to go with. Unless my black flats (basic leather, almond toe) go.

  • It's freezing at work, so likely I need a sweater (not just a scarf or wrap).

As I mentioned, I like getting longevity with my clothes. I don't own much for work and don't work with the same folks each day, so I wear a lot of the same things. But, this dress is pretty and I don't have any social life time, no weddings or events coming up, and really want to work it into my work wardrobe.

Any ideas? Thank you so much!!!

You probably want to look into getting professional dance shoes (for latin dancing). They come pretty close to what you are looking for, but might not always be that sparkly (because sparkles wear off rather quickly when dancing).

Here are some options:

Hi! I’m hoping maybe someone can help me out and give me some suggestions. I’m going to a wedding in mid October and I was thinking of wearing this maxi dress with these strappy shoes but I want something to cover up with because it will probably get chilly. The wedding isn’t particularly formal and is set in a barn with a rustic feel.

I’m not very glitzy or glam and I’m not a huge fan of super bright colors. My daily style is pretty relaxed, and fashionably cozy (think chunky knit baggy cardigans, knotted tees, cuffed jeans, and keds or loafers). I prefer more earthy/neutral/dusty/muted colors when it comes to my clothes.

I’m also open to wearing something else entirely but I already own the shoes and the dress and most of my other dresses are pretty summery. I have the same dress in heather gray but I worry that may be a little too casual looking.

If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated. thank you! 🖤

I love my vivos! I've got several pairs.

Just bought these last week and they're lovely. Very happy with my purchase. They're office friendly, casual, comfortable, and really easy to slip on/off w/o compromising my foot.

These took me through the summer and I still wear them. They're not as quick for on/off, which is why I bought the other ones. I take off my shoes all the time - office, home, driving, etc - so I like something that's quick. They're still in decent shape though. Not amazing, but not bad considering I've been wearing practically nothing but them mid summer.

Plus you can find older styles on Amazon for great discounts, especially if your foot is outside the common sizes. I'm in CA so sandals are OK for me, but you can find warmer pairs as well.

Good luck!

That style makes me think of Stuart Weitzman shoes (specifically this one, but there's others that are similar). I do not have personal experience with Stuart Weitzman shoes, but I've heard excellent reviews of both durability and comfort. That said, the people I've heard it from have been into heels, not comfort shoes, so I expect them to feel like more stable and less fatiguing heels, not anything cushy or supportive. The price is supposed to match the longevity and craftsmanship, however, so you're talking ~$400.

I recommend trying on this sort of shoe at Nordstrom (which should have the higher quality brands that make this sort of sleek style), or use Zappos's free shipping and returns.

The style you need to wear is actually a pretty decent one for standing for a while, for someone who is able to wear heels. The ankle strap provides a lot of stability and doesn't put nearly as much pressure on the ball of your foot as pumps would, and the blockiness of the heel makes it way easier to walk in. And the risk of the heel breaking is quite low.

I also found a model each from Naturalizer and from Clarks. Both are reputable comfort brands, and I'd expect good longevity and comfort. Once again, you're wearing heels, not anything actually comfortable, but with the ankle strap, chunky heel, and decent construction, you should have able to move unhindered. I've run in Clarks heels more than is strictly reasonable, and never felt unstable or in more pain than expected. And they held up to four years of one day a week abuse of that sort, and still looked great at the end of that. You can also try Sam Edelman, which I've heard good things about, but I've always found Clarks far, far more comfortable than Sam Edelman.

I seem to have fallen in love with these clog/sandal hybrids.. I've found pairs I love at Lotta from Sweden, Swedish Hasbeens, and MIA. I honestly was just looking around for a short flatform sandal, but none of the styles I saw were very flattering for someone with short, pale legs. Prob 3 inch heel max - I'd like to be able to wear these on a daily basis. Also, I prefer brown/natural over black or another color, I really just want a neutral sandal that will work with every sundress. I'd say my style is plain but girly?

Anyways! Those with clog experience - what brand do you reccomend? One of the ones I mentioned, or another? Preferably somewhere with easy returns.. Budgetwise, my max is $150 - but I am an avid bargain hunter and take pleasure in finding expensive stuff cheap in a hidden corner of the internet, so don't hold back! Thanks :)

One of my faves at Lotta from Sweden] ... here's another .... and one more!

A swedish hasbeen ... And another ... last one

From MIA

Just to add - this all started because I fell in love with these but can't find them anywhere in my size.. So if you know of any similar to that let me know! I'm picky about these ankle strap sandals because I feel like most of them "cut off" my leg at its worst point, like giving the illusion of me cankles. TIA!!!!

PSA: If you've never owned Birks and you're interested but hesitant to spend so much without knowing if you even like them I highly recommend these Steve Madden knock offs! (These are the Mayari style but I know they also make Arizonas)

I bought a pair in brown last summer and I wore them every day (until my asshole dog decided to eat them.) I just ordered a pair in black for this summer! I don't know how real Birks feel but these are actually super comfortable, I didn't have to break them in at all and they're surprisingly great quality.

I'll be wearing those, these cheap sandals, and Converse high tops all summer.

I LOVE orthoheel shoes. I need shoes with a lot of support and I walk around a lot for work and I finally found the perfect ones! These are the ones I got--and I LOVE THEM.

Amazing support. Good luck!

I love Birkenstocks but I know that not everyone else does. Earth shoes are also super comfortable! For this weekend you might want to go to a brick and mortar store so you can try them on in person before buying. Target sometimes has cute sandals! I love the dress, by the way. :)

Wow. I wish that's all I had to do to my hair. I look like Madonna circa 1988 without spending at least an hour on it so it stays in a bun most days.

Just looked in my Amazon cart / previous purchases and found a few shoes that I love... In case you want to take a peek.

Leopard stilettos - I have these and LOVE them! I had a pair of $300 Stuart Weitzman ones that I wore to the ground and got these as a replacement. A fraction of the cost and they are actually comfortable.

Ankle strap - Haven't purchased these yet because I can't decide which color I want. I love the black with the silver and the gold ones.

Jessica Simpson Ankle Strap - LOVE THESE SHOES! Casual enough to wear with jeans and a cute top but dressy enough to wear with any LBD and look fabulous. Plus, the price point is amazing for JS shoes.

I have wide feet! Heels are something that I don't recommend buying online since the fit is so important (and you can't really tailor shoes). Brands that I do well with:

  • Jessica Simpson

  • Sheikh (love these so much)

  • Pleaser (for example these are really high but so freaking comfy, but I realize that this pair is over the top and that's not what you want.)

Honestly, go to an adult store and browse their shoe section. They'll carry really high heels and I've had great luck- those shoes tend to be super comfy. Then go to more expensive shoe stores and try on ones that are actual leather and have comfortable bases. A platform can be hidden and will give you extra height without too much lift. It's going to be about trying everything until you find something that works for you.

Help me find a dress and shoes for an engagement shoot?

I was thinking of doing something like this or this, ie. an about knee-length dress with a denim jacket.

Ideal dress colors: brown, gold, olive, or red. I think the style that suits me best is something a bit like this, sleeves optional (basically fit and flare dresses with a wide waistband and a full flowy skirt). I wear XS and have a pear figure (or hourglass if shoulders count).

My budget is max $150 (ideally for something I could use for other occasions).

This color makes me happy but it's the wrong shape and over budget. I like this fabric but it's too low cut and the waistline is too high. There's something about this dress that is really neat.

Shoes: feeling clueless here. The style of these caught my eye but they don't have great reviews. Something like this? I own these already but I don't really know how they'd work with a dress. I don't own any heeled sandals or what I think of as going-out shoes so if I can end up with something like that it would be super useful beyond this particular event. I've also been on the lookout for calf-height boots that don't look clunky, which might also work for this.

I hope this isn't too ridiculously all over the place. Thanks in advance for any ideas!

I got a pair of these when I was in Hawaii (found them at a flea market) and expected them to be just sufficient for the beach. I still have them years later and they’re awesome: OOFOS https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IA4XCU8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_pUYLAbXRK42XD
