Padded flip flops. They are essential. I have some brown ones from Adidas. Sorta like these http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00DNNZ1HS/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1406459879&sr=8-2&pi=SX200_QL40. They are pricey for sandals but you can get a good deal at Kohls or Target sometimes. So awesome. They support your feet and seem to prevent some swelling since they absorb the shock a little but still are open for when your feet swell. Highly recommend. Love them even when not preggo. Also heard orthaheels were very good but have not tried myself yet.

u/valkyriev · 1 pointr/BarefootRunning

TBH, I've been on the hunt for a long time, but I haven't been able to find anything since they discontinued the Merrell sandals I loved. I still have them; I've been wearing them daily and for long hikes for 7 years now. But they're going to fall apart eventually. And I only have them in black - I'd really like something in tan.

All the more popular brands I have looked at all look the same: a cheap, unmolded sole with lots of straps keeping the shoe on your foot. Sure, the construction itself is minimal - it takes almost no work from the manufacturer to put together the sandal. But that's not what I want. I want a sandal that fits to my foot and has minimal impact to how I walk.

If anyone is aware of a minimal sandal with a more structured sole, I would love to know :)

u/cinnamongirl276 · 0 pointsr/weddingdress

I live by the beach and I am ALWAYS in sandals/flip flops (and I love going to Vegas). I bet the shoes you posted will hurt your feet, and that could ruin your trip. IDK if these are too casual but IMO these are the best flip flops ever. They are soo soft and squishy, great for walking and you can’t twist your ankle in these unlike some sandals. I am on my 2nd pair and about to buy my 3rd. I just got engaged and started pinning shoes and dresses but I think I will go with the Bounce sandals in white. There are a couple metallic versions too. Good luck and congrats! https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B007NPZX5M/ref=sspa_dk_detail_3?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B007NPZX5M&pd_rd_w=p4uHK&pf_rd_p=45a72588-80f7-4414-9851-786f6c16d42b&pd_rd_wg=1Dy5o&pf_rd_r=GAPWHZ9DBAXPMS9FES41&pd_rd_r=0b54eda6-75dd-4c22-b4dd-caec60da286d&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExWlM5RFRBNjhaRVI1JmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNjI0ODczOEZRMVBIMlEyUDhQJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAyNjY5NjkzUjIxR0FPMDYxV0VKJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfZGV0YWlsJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==

Okok so I’m gonna start off with when I was shopping for work shoes... who knew Dr. Scholl’s had shoes? A lot of people probably, but I kinda just assumed they mostly sold inserts and other comfy foot stuff
Anyway I ended up finding really great work shoes from them and on the same trip was looking around for some nice shoes for graduation. I really wanted some heels but, maybe just out of lack of experience and growing up with mostly my dad (do moms teach you how to wear heels??? Is there a secret to it???) I hate wearing them... but I think they’re so cute... it’s frustrating
I did stumble upon these really cute Dr. Scholl’s “Barton” sandal wedges !!! Wedges are so comfy to me and these have a thin padding that makes them soooo easy to walk in. They’re only a 2 inch heel, but they don’t look as stupid as I think some kitten heels or whatever look. I ended up wearing them the whole summer since the tan ones go with everything!!! I’m still young so it’s not like I can afford anything super expensive but for ~40ish dollars (maybe they were on sale for less, can’t remember) these made me feel a little more sophisticated and put together than my usual flip flop/flat sandal/birkenstocks. I’ve only had them for about half a year now so I can’t talk on durability besides the fact that they still look new (as they should after only 6 months lol) but they’re a relatively good investment for a cute spring/summer (and fall/winter in those who don’t have a traditional cold season) staple piece!!

[Clay pot for mom from an art co-op she works at] (http://imgur.com/0sw8thS).

[Rainbow sandals in tan for middle sister] (http://www.amazon.com/Rainbow-Sandals-Womens-Twisted-Sister/dp/B00BF0HMXW).

Oldest sister gets $50 amazon gift card bc she buys everything for herself and doesn't tell anyone what she wants/likes ever. We've been iffy over the past few months.

Dad got some rotary tool that was on sale. He loves cars, tools, generators, etc.

Whoever it was on here that told me to listen to The Suburbs album by Arcade Fire. I love you. I had listened to this album before, but didn't really listen to what it was about. I haven't stopped playing it for like 5 days now. I don't remember the last time I heard an album from modern ties that really made me feel something or that had such good messages. I've started listening to their other stuff and I've determined: how did I never like this band before?

I'll take any other recommendations of top notch rock/indie/electro albums, I'm making a huge playlist and gonna rip through it today while studying for my EMT basic final on my birthday. -_- yay.

u/noanydeviceexists · 1 pointr/femalefashionadvice

Yes! I get so many compliments on her shoes. Two pairs of my sandals are of the super flimsy sort (this style) and I still find them comfortable and stable. My more supportive pair are a little more comfortable and stay put on my feet, but I did have to break them in a bit.

Which shoes did you go for? I had to exchange a size once (from the UK) and they were really sweet and helpful, even held my proper size until they got my shoes back.

u/NewMama517 · 1 pointr/BabyBumps

They run kinda weird sizing. I recommend buying a couple of the same pair in different sizes to figure out which size is best.
I just bought Vionic Women's Beach Noosa Flip Flop, Black Pewter, 7 M US https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EBDLAPA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_lpUAxv3WdH2ZA and they're basic old navy type flip flops but have actual support in them. I wear them around the house instead of going barefoot bc I love them so much.

Have other sandals from the brand too. They're great.

u/scaredofme · 1 pointr/TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I constantly wear these around my house: OOFOS Unisex Ooriginal Thong Flip Flop, Black, 6 M US Women's, 4 M US Men's https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IA4XCRQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_-u95xb5JPKQVF

You can just toss them in the wash periodically, but I've never noticed a smell. They have great arch support and are super comfy. If your feet get cold, they make a slip on type that you could wear with socks.

u/rando_mvmt · 0 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

A few years ago I bought a pair of fit-flops that I loved but I ruined them by wearing them into a smelly pond. I still have them but hardly ever wear them. I couldn't bear to throw them out they were my favorite.
A couple of months ago I bought a new pair and love them just as much. These are the ones I bought. They work with both casual dresses and leggings and are insanely comfortable.

u/ellequoi · 1 pointr/BabyBumps

I’ve been wearing this pair of Tevas, but they do require strapping up:

Teva Women's W Tirra Sport Sandal, https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B071WML5NF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_0BEKBbVRA3VAP

My feet haven’t been too picky about support, thank goodness, so the other pair I’ve been wearing are Ocean Pacific flip flops like these but with looser, thicker cloth straps:

Ocean Pacific OP Women's Beachwear Dress Thong Sandal Rhinestone Jewel https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B079QCR3PZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_6EEKBbVA2NZR4

u/Truant_Muse · 2 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I agree that they run true to size. I wouldn't say that they will have a break in period, but they will get more comfortable over time because they will mold to your foot. For example I buy a new pair of these every other year or so, and when I first put them on the straps feel a little too tight because the foot bed hasn't molded to my foot yet, that said they never give me blisters and they shape to your foot super fast.

u/stml · 9 pointsr/frugalmalefashion

In store they have one that looks very similar to this one for also $50. They're often sold out though. I personally don't wear them, but my girlfriend is completely in love with them. They're super comfy.

u/viviennecase · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I would love to visit Maui,Hawaii! My parents got married there and I wish I had been born to be able to see it. My aunt lives down there and I'm hoping to go down there soon!

Summertime and the livin' easy :)

u/suzepie · 1 pointr/femalefashionadvice

How much walking will you need to do in these sandals, and on what kind of terrain? I bought a pair of super cute red Aerosole thong style sandals for a trip to the Caribbean last summer and did a lot of walking in them, on paved and cobblestone surfaces and some dirt roads. They have great support and a very padded footbed. They looked fashionable with both shorts and skirts, too. I was so glad I didn't have to settle for something clunky and awkward.

u/queenhippolytas · 5 pointsr/DCcomics

I bought them at a speciality store but they're pretty popular. They're called Sanuk and they're made out of recycled yoga mats.

u/emmeisspicy · 8 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

they won't be $12, but those Sanuk ones made from old yoga mats are incredibly comfortable.

I got a pair of these when I was in Hawaii (found them at a flea market) and expected them to be just sufficient for the beach. I still have them years later and they’re awesome: OOFOS https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IA4XCU8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_pUYLAbXRK42XD

u/CarlosFromPhilly · 0 pointsr/SampleSize

>Check more casual sites. Eg, here's something that looks kinda remotely in the same ballpark on Amazon - "Havaianas Women's Top Tiras Sandal Flip Flop".

Lol you linked to a foam flip flop with plastic straps. I'm talking about leather sandals with heels. "Kinda in the same ballpark" 😂 right, dude.

They intersect. The fact that I posted a leather sandal and you responded with "definitely a flip flop" means you don't know what you're talking about, or that I'm correct in stating that there is intersect.

Regardless it's moot because the poll is now about arguing over semantics.

u/fancybizness · 1 pointr/femalefashionadvice

These ones. It's kind of hard to see in the photo but if you look at the various angles, you can kinda see the arch support.

u/Lindthom · 1 pointr/femalefashionadvice
  1. These in the summer. Much better than regular flip flops IMO
  2. A pair of black strappy sandals with studs on them I found at Target a couple years ago on clearance.
  3. These boots. I wear them almost every single day in the winter.
  4. And my pair of Asics running/walking shoes.
u/ACoderGirl · 3 pointsr/SampleSize

The reason those places call them "sandals" is because flip flops are sandals! But "flip-flop" is such an informal sounding thing and you picked fancy sites.

Check more casual sites. Eg, here's something that looks kinda remotely in the same ballpark on Amazon - "Havaianas Women's Top Tiras Sandal Flip Flop".

They're called flip flops because the lack of support around the heel makes the sole flop around (and sound awful, haha). They only intersect in the sense that the set of all flip flops is a subset of the set of all sandals (which is a totally valid intersection, but also implies that all flip flops are sandals). As an aside, perhaps the strawpoll should have made the mathematical relationship something like F ⊂ S and S ⊄ F.
