Great idea and well executed. In the interest of giving back, consider adding this to your Amazon list, it's the best all around food at the best price that I've ever found.

u/fastertoday · 2 pointsr/soylent

Sounds like you got burned and are gun shy. But have you considered doing subscribe & save with cheap "filler" items? Like these ~$2 sardines? Sign up to get 1 or 2 boxes of soylent and then 3 or 4 tins of sardines. You get the %15 discount on the soylent and a couple of sardines (which are super healthy and taste great on crackers.).

Then even if you get an unwanted/unexpected shipment of soylent, the surprise bill is more like $60 instead of $600.

Icelandic Cod Liver Wild Caught (Foie de Morue) 4oz. (PACK OF 12 CANS) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07935LV8F/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_3BvCCbMF17MVX

I ordered these on someone’s suggestion and I just had the first ones last night. They’re pretty good!

Found this. It has some pretty good reviews.

Amazon also has 6 for $15.88 (without subscribing) which isn't all that much more than $2.50 each, and if you have Amazon Prime the shipping is free.

Its low carb but generally full of fat because they absorb all the oil. In Chinese it's usually marinated in sesame and/or chili oil. My daughter loves the stuff an usually eats it all. I have posted links elsewhere in this thread for recipes. Check Cantonese Dim Sum, Korean, Thai, and Filipino cuisine places. I think nearly every Asian culture has their own way to prepare it. To buy it you will need to find an Asian Supermarket. Amazon link for Salted Jellyfish

I'm korean. So I buy dried pollack. The shipping is expensive though. So you can either go to a local asian market (Hmart, Lotte, etc) and look for dried pollack, preferably shredded in strips, or look for another type of dried fish.
What I do is, I boil some water and put the dried pollack in there until it softens up. After that, drain it and include it in your dog(Chewbacca?)'s food or just give it to him as a treat. You don't have to boil it but it makes it very soft and easy to eat.
EDIT: Or you can buy this and cut it to little pieces.

> Cuttlefish ink stinks and is a lot fishier. Also, the color is different.

True. In Sicily it's the cuttlefish ink (cuttlefish = seppia in Italian) that is being used, and yes, the taste is very fishy.
These are squids: http://www.palaciodeoriente.net/en/squid/17-calamares-en-salsa-tinta-8410205054883.html http://www.amazon.com/Squid-Ink-Tinta-Calamar-packets/dp/B008RB7SGI

u/Negified96 · 1 pointr/theydidthemath

There's actually a whole range of caviar in quality and price, so we'll do three cases:

Somehow there is a site for converting caviar weight and volume. It works out that one pint of caviar weighs 18.067 oz.

High End at $185.00/oz. or $3342.37

Mid-Range at $55.00/oz. or $993.68

Budget at $3.91/oz. or $70.63

Note that these aren't always from the same fish species and caviar is a pretty deep subculture.

I get my salmon here:

http://www.amazon.com/Crown-Prince-Natural-Alaskan-Salmon/dp/B000EEWZG4/

With subscribe & save (which can be cancelled anytime), it comes to ~$6 a pound.

u/NeShep · 2 pointsr/Fitness

Just FYI if anyone every offers you canned smoked salmon, don't turn it down. It's incredible and nothing like either run of the mill smoked or canned salmon. Comes at a price though

Ikea has salmon-in-a-tube, so this seems plausible. (I couldn't find it on the Ikea website, but Amazon has it.)

u/SquatzOatz · 2 pointsr/keto

Sounds good. I would recommend switching to salmon though, which tastes pretty much the same but has a higher omega3 content and much lower mercury content.

u/bscepter · 1 pointr/Omaha

I order mine from Amazon. Pretty decent deal.

u/uabeng · 1 pointr/nutrition

These I use it while camping, hiking, etc. Comes in Tuna, Salmon and Chicken. I wouldn't mess with canned stuff, personally.

u/jandersnatch · 6 pointsr/Paleo

I'm in Bagram right now trying to follow a somewhat paleo diet. I dont know where you're stationed but here are some of the things I like.

Breakfast - Whole eggs. Don't get the premixed shit because it has some kind of filler in it. Occasionally we get some high quality eggs here that are bright orange and taste great. Bacon is pretty much the only other choice. It's the shittiest quality bacon ever, but beggars can't be choosers.

All other chows - The hamburgers have soy filler. Every sauce that comes on meat has gluten. Get whatever is not breaded and scrape the sauce/gravy off. Get some salad with every meal. Get some hot vegetables.

Ordering shit - All that premade paleo shit is stupid expensive and not worth it. You are going to want a small stash of food for those IBA required days that you won't want to go to chow. I buy these sardines from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Wild-Planet-Sardines-Virgin-4-375-Ounce/dp/B004VDH4KQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1348414298&sr=8-1&keywords=wild+sardines They are expensive but they are good. The other option is nuts.com. They have all kinds of delicious options like raw walnuts and unsweetened coconut chips. They also offer freeze dried vegetables that are expensive but hey, its shelf stable vegetables.

If you have your husband ship stuff, be mindful that the box WILL get fucked up and it WILL be exposed to long bouts of 100+ degree heat even in winter.

I work in an office and I have an hour long commute. I can't rely on myself to remember to bring lunches every day, so I brown bag some hard boiled eggs, and some fruit/veggies (all from the bodega on the corner).

Keep that shit in a box under your desk with some hot sauce. It works. I been doing this for about a year.
