Possibly repeating some advice since I'm late to this party, but..Shoes: Also a lady and I stumbled upon the Keds Scout line last year and they have turned out to be great winter biking shoes. They are water resistant, don't let wind through, but are slim enough that they still fit in my pedal cages and aren't so clumsy that they make me feel like I'm pedaling my bike with inch thick stumps like snow boots do. I'm on my second pair of the Scout Chukka Splash which is mostly unlined but I think they offer other versions that are geared to be more winter-y and have thicker lining. I have worn them with thick socks over the last two weeks when temps have gotten pretty low and been fine. The only day I had cold toes was Wednesday when the "feels like" was in the negatives in the morning, but it wasn't terrible. They're not full plastic waterproof to where you could stand submerged puddle for 10 minutes without worry, but the water resistance is good enough for normal snowy conditions. Bonus: depending on your work environment and personal style choices, you can possibly wear them to work and not have to carry extra shoes.

Gloves: I listened to the crowd and shelled out for Pearl Izumi lobster gloves.. they're great for middle temps down to like 20ish and keeping dry but fail once it really gets cold. The sizing is men's so even the XS is big on me which is irritating for the cost. If you have ski mittens already, use those. If you have no good gloves and plan to spend money, I'd recommend ski mittens over the lobster gloves - I have these Dakine mittens in size small and they are fantastic for very cold days, plus I really love the liner gloves they come with for fall riding when it starts to get cold.

I have no special bike outfitting for winter other than fenders. My slick road tires have kept me upright this week despite the ice and such but I've definitely had some dicey moments. If in doubt, take the lane - don't ride on the edge near the BL where cars are encouraged to pass you close because there's * almost * enough room and you risk being surprised by ice that sticks out of the bike lane or getting pushed over, ride roughly in the right car tire tracks.

Face: If you don't already wear glasses and don't want to wear goggles, buy some cheap "non-prescription" clear lens glasses on amazon. I replaced my silly scratched up shop glasses with non-prescription glasses this year and have been happy with them so far, especially on days like Monday when it's snowing tiny ice bullets and I otherwise was unable to keep my eyes open. Fogging is a problem though.

Neck: Fleece "buffs" or neck gaiters are a must. Keeps your sensitive neck parts warm even if your core warms up and you want to unzip your jacket, and breathing through something while covering your mouth and nose is very helpful for keeping your lungs working in the cold dry winter.

Edit: If you have long hair and it is snowing, tuck it in to your jacket. Dealing with a matted, wet, frozen ponytail end at work is annoying.

Sorry this took so long, but here you goz I added hats, gloves, and scarves as a sort of apology for being so late:

Good outer coats: https://www.amazon.com/ELORA-Womens-Winter-Jacket-Fleece-Trim/dp/B07BS4GTJC/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1540096730&sr=8-2-spons&keywords=winter+coat+for+women&psc=1

Find something long and thick with a cozy hood. Make sure it is water resistent as well.

Good undercoats:

https://www.amazon.com/CAMEL-CROWN-Waterproof-Windbreaker-Outdoor/dp/B07FTB6Z34/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&qid=1540096730&sr=8-17&keywords=winter+coat+for+women

Find something warm but light and with or without a hood- it doesn't matter too much unless you plan on using it in spring, in which case get one with a hood or a removable hood.

Good hats:

Get something with clippable ear flaps. Trust me, they'll be lifesavers. Water resistance is important as well.

Good gloves:

Get something water proof and with fingers. Mittens are the worst when you have to do something outside. Wrist straps are great for keeping the snow out.

Face coverings:

Make sure it covers your face, nose, cheeks, and neck (front and back). If it goes over your entire head like a hat that's even better, it's perfect for wearing under a hat. You'll want it to be waterproof. I find face coverings work better than scarves.

u/daisygrace2 · 2 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

Jumping into your comment thread because 1) woo RPI and 2) real talk: if you are from Connecticut then you know a little about winter and the coats you have now may work (honestly, I would just pick up another pea coat and wear sweaters underneath), but you will most definitely want to invest in accessories. Think things like hats, gloves, thermal leggings, socks and boots with grippy soles to walk uphill on ice. Also, you'll want to have a warm waterproof jacket with a hood (cliche, but a lot of people go for North Face) because it can rain a lot. It will be pretty hot through October and then, if you are lucky, drop below zero by the beginning of December; temperatures start creeping back up by around March. You may succeed in having stylish outerwear in the fall and spring, but winter is cold, and the only thing that matters is getting from one building to another as quickly as possible.

Tunnels are commonly brought up in freshman orientation etc. because they sound like a cool thing, but as mentioned above, not recommended. Although, if you ever have classes in West Hall, take the West shuttle to/from the Union. Also, there's a ton of stuff to explore in downtown Troy. Have fun! :)

u/HazelEllie · 1 pointr/xxfitness

No way! Another Michigander! 😀
Here’s a super long list of all the stuff I can think of. The biggest investment is probably a warm coat and shoes. The rest I found was reasonably priced at amazon/ target etc!

I got a down filled ski hoodie made by Spyder. I think it’s this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UWFH524/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_2lavDbC53WXZX
NorthFace and Patagonia sell them too. I just made sure the one I got was made for sub zero cold temps. Any thing 40 degrees and over and it’s too hot to wear so it’s definitely for cold weather.
Insulated running tights, sometimes I throw a pair of sweats over them if it’s crazy cold. You could even get wind stopper pants for over the top. That might be my next investment for layering.
I wear a long sleeve and short sleeve T-shirt underneath.
I have a thick winter buff for my neck that I can pull over my mouth if needed
A wool beanie with polar fleece lining that’s long enough to really cover my ears and good gloves. I use insulated trail running shoes and when it’s icy I put Yax trax on them https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0094GO6ZG
ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_IxavDbHJBZEFJ
You can find cheaper brands on amazon.
And the last thing is a head lamp since it gets dark so damn early here. 😂
I tend to overdress and sometimes get a little hot but I’m kind of a baby about being cold.
I really enjoy going when it’s snowing. It’s so amazing and peaceful!
If you’re concerned about getting snow in your socks (I also usually wear smart wool or two pairs depending) you can buy gaitors: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07J5NJ5TH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_xpbvDbED217RQ
I’ve tried my husband’s but I don’t feel like I need them. I don’t go in deep snow or anything. There’s a plowed rails to trails type trail here that they keep pretty clean in the winter—the biggest concern is ice.

u/prepamaddy · 2 pointsr/FrugalFemaleFashion

Not wool but I got this [coat] from amazon last year and it’s amazing. Quality is superb and it actually looks really cute. I like how the material is more matte, so it looks more fashionable rather than sporty. Of course it’s not as fashionable as a wool pea coat, but it’s much more practical for 30 degrees or less (and snow). I typically wear my wool coat (for it from a thrift store, sorry no help) when it’s 35-50 degrees and wear this one when it’s colder. Good luck and I for real recommend this coat!

Orient Madison Avenue Open Heart

Price: $200-$300

Movement: Automatic, Orient Calibre 46A40

Style: Dressy

Size: 34.00 x 36.75mm (without crown)

Link: Amazon Page, Orient's Website

Description: I actually bought this watch for my fiancée two years ago and she loves it. I told her about the Heartbreaker, but she did not like its name and she is not into circular watches. When she does wear a watch she chooses this one because the small little bit of the balance wheel and escapement peaking through the dial are enjoyable for her to watch as she sits in her classes.

I enjoy it because the dial is rather busy but not too distracting. It has a subtle ticking to it that is not very annoying and it keeps great time with a decent power reserve of 40 hours. The band is rather plasticy feeling but breaks in nicely and you can barely feel the weight move around. In my eyes, this watch was well worth the money!

u/nuudlebear · 5 pointsr/HerOneBag

I love my Prana Shandyn dress. It's thin, light, stretchy, has pockets, is very flattering, and dries fast! It can be dressed up or down and takes up very little space. I have it in grey and cargo green, but would love some brighter colors or interesting patterns. I don't necessarily want something super bold, just something summery.

u/eliza_cs · 2 pointsr/Eliza_cs

status: available!

hi! I love these, but they are slightly small for my feet, so I am not able to wear them for a long time. I cannot return them either, since they have been worn a few times.

If you want them, I will wear them every day, for a week, for a few hours.

They are not really stinky, but they will probably have a scent. Slightly....but hopefully there are people that will appreciate it. I rarely sell shoes, so this is your opportunity!

I will make a custom video for your eyes only, wearing them, teasing with my feet, and you choose the scenario!

I will offer 10 pics as well, and free shipping worldwide. Will have to vacuum seal them too.

I can also throw in a worn pair of pantyhose or socks! :) just let me know what kind of!

If you buy me this, then they are yours! The price is 120 pounds with shipping included in my country!

Have something from me and my tiny feet! :)

u/rhythmofdevotion · 82 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

Girl I totally relate! I have hyperhydrosis on my hands (the worst!), armpits, feet, and the backs of my knees somehow. I'd recommend trying a pair of oxfords - they're super cute with dresses and cropped trousers, plus you can wear any kind of sock with them in summer or fall/winter. I got these Doc Marten oxfords recently and after breaking them in, they're super comfortable and will be good for your standing desk. There are lots of other oxford options from DSW and other department stores too.

Sock-wise, I also recommend trying SmartWool or Sockwell socks. SmartWool really wicks sweat well and don't make my feet hot despite being wool. I've had several pairs for years and they haven't pilled or gotten holes in them. Sockwell offers tall compression socks (perfect for winter), and I just got the anklet version that's designed for plantar fasciitis and that's made a big difference in terms of daily comfort.

u/a5121221a · 5 pointsr/BuyItForLife

I have both Darn Tough and Point6 running socks.

These are the Darn Tough socks I have that compare to my Point6 socks: https://smile.amazon.com/Darn-Tough-Vertex-Ultralight-Cushion/dp/B01A6ML8GG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1487547326&sr=8-3&keywords=darn+tough+women%27s+socks+no+show
Mine are black.

I got the Point6 socks on sale for $10.99 at Eddie Bauer when I had a $10 reward certificate, so I literally got them for a dollar and change. My Point6 socks are lime green. Like my Darn Tough running socks, they are also no-show tab socks. I'm not a fan of the lime green, but I'm not going to complain about color when they cost a dollar.

Both are running socks. Both have held up equally well. Both retain their shape. Neither of them is prone to foot odor. For the two brands in comparable socks, I cannot find a reason one is better than the other (unless you count color, and that's not a brand-thing).

That said, I also have other styles of Darn Tough socks. I have these running socks in black:
https://smile.amazon.com/Darn-Tough-Vermont-Ultra-Light-Cushion/dp/B01A6MLCB2/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1487547602&sr=8-5&keywords=darn+tough+women%27s+socks+1%2F4
I love them, too.

Because I adore my Darn Tough running socks, I ordered some other Darn Tough styles. I don't like them nearly as much. These attract every fuzzy in the house:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01F47M8WQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They are also a challenge to put on. The ankles aren't tight while they are on, but they have very little give. They are hard to pull over the heel. I've also had trouble with the footbed stretching. I can wear my running socks for a week straight without any deformation, stretching, or stink. These stretch after just a day. By the end of the day, when I put my foot in my shoe for the umpteenth time, I might start to get a crease somewhere.
I got these in both "midnight" and "gray". The "midnight" version looks very fuzzy after washing rather than retaining its original appearance. Combined with the lint-magnet quality, I'm not keen on the "midnight" version. The "gray" version did a much better job of retaining its original appearance after washing.

These don't have the same level of comfort as the running socks, either:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B001MA4GMK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I haven't worn these enough to determine whether there are any problems with footbed stretch. I specifically purchased them to wear at work because "charcoal" looked black in the listing. It isn't black. I'm in the Navy and wanted to wear them with my uniform, but am restricted to black socks, so they are a no-go. At some point, I'll probably wear them enough to give an in-depth review, but haven't had a chance yet.

I hope this helps!

u/eminem30982 · 1 pointr/solotravel

> good poncho

I recently bought this one and although I haven't had a chance to test it in the rain yet, it seems like it should work pretty well. It's big enough to cover my travel backpack, packs down pretty small, and it zips up (as opposed to buttoning up or ones that don't even open up) so it's way easier to put on. I just noticed that they changed the description of it to say that it's a "women's" poncho. When I bought it, it had no gender classification, but in any event, it's a poncho so it's not exactly gender-specific anyway, and it fits me well (I'm a pretty big guy).

> good packable neck pillow

I have this inflatable neck pillow and it's great. Since it's inflatable, you can adjust how much air you put it in to control how firm it is.

u/swanboulet · 1 pointr/FigureSkating

I used to skate in random fleece ones before I got lucky and bought a great pair of Under Armour gloves on sale. (this model exactly, if you're curious) they're technically for running but they have a cool rubberized inside which is super convenient for falling, they're also waterproof and they have a fleece side on the thumbs which the UA site claims can be used for wiping your nose.... if you're into that. I haven't tried, lol.

also? not gonna lie, having a little bit of under armour gear on me definitely makes me feel self-important and helps me channel my inner Yuzu lmao

u/droznig · 1 pointr/camping

I use a timex triathalon ironman watch, which is great if you don't mind wearing a cheapish looking digital watch.

You can get them a lot cheaper than that listing, just using it as an example.

I use it all the time for running or timing climbs or even just setting a timer when I'm cooking. Also important for first aid should the need arise.

You might not need a watch like that, but that timex is the best cheap watch I've found that does everything I need it to do but can be replaced easily.

I have a super nice seiko but I broke the strap on it 3 times and scratched it, better to just get something cheap and replaceable if you are doing a lot of outdoor activities.

but slightly even more lightweight and less bulky and prettier than above, but not as warm as above, is the 32 degrees coat https://www.amazon.com/32-DEGREES-Womens-Hooded-Packable/dp/B07HJC4GQQ/ref=sr_1_8?keywords=32+degrees+coat&qid=1555000372&s=gateway&sr=8-8

32 degrees also has their own website often with cheaper prices than amazon!

u/sarowen · 2 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

The fit was perfect (at least for what I was looking for)! It may run just a tad bit big (which may just be because it's a relaxed-fit shirt), but I'd go with whatever your normal size is. I tend to wear smalls, so I ordered a small. I had thought about sizing up (based on the reviews of some of the Columbia shirts), but I'm glad I didn't. I can take a fit picture of me wearing it if it'd be helpful. I also considered a few other shirts (listed below).

  1. [Columbia Tamiami] (https://www.amazon.com/Columbia-Womens-Tamiami-Sleeve-Shirt/dp/B001LNJUMO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468950295&sr=8-1&keywords=columbia+womens+shirts) - I thought that it might be a bit too fitted for what I was looking for. I want to be able to comfortably wear it over a t-shirt or a tanktop. It also doesn't have pockets, and I tend to use pockets quite a bit when backpacking and hiking.

  2. [Columbia Bonehead] (https://www.amazon.com/Columbia-Womens-Bonehead-Sleeve-Rosewater/dp/B010N5PLVO/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1468950295&sr=8-6&keywords=columbia+womens+shirts) - One of the reviews said that this shirt wrinkles easily, so I quickly eliminated it.

  3. [Columbia Silver Ridge] (https://www.amazon.com/Columbia-Womens-Silver-Ridge-Sleeve/dp/B008EPKIZ0/ref=pd_sim_468_23?ie=UTF8&dpID=41QDik2VNkL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR123%2C160_&refRID=34HK18EYDF2GK76Z76R1) - This one is more expensive than the others, and I was concerned about it being too fitted. It also doesn't have pockets.

u/junkit33 · 2 pointsr/Watches

There are plenty of smaller faced watches out there. Your best bet is to go to a watch store and try on some various sized models and see what you like. You don't need to buy it there, just get a feel for size and style.

Also, don't take this the wrong way, but you may want to look at women's watches. There are plenty out there that look just like a men's, only they come in smaller faces/bands. A large looking style like a diver in a smaller woman's model could be perfect. Example: http://www.amazon.com/Wenger-Womens-72338-Battalion-Bracelet/dp/B000HDMPAS

u/WhoThrewPoo · 1 pointr/running

I use and older model of these for brisk but not winter weather. They were actually recommended to me as light-chill cycling gloves, but work great for running too. They let me use my touch screen on my phone, which is nice.

For more winter weather, I use [these] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014X9G5MU?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage) Isotoner gloves. They aren't bulky, which means I can adjust hats/clothing/etc without taking them off. They also are warm enough without making my hands too sweaty, so I don't have to leave them out to dry usually.

u/callmemaude · 2 pointsr/WaltDisneyWorld

I highly recommend ordering some cheap ponchos from amazon! I’m going at the end of the week and grabbed these. We do this every time we go and it saves us so much money, and it’s also a nice peace of mind thing to just toss them in a park bag and have them in case.

u/djdsf · 1 pointr/WaltDisneyWorld

Get disposable ones. They all technically work well enough and honestly, there's little point in trying to reuse them after your trip. If you save them without drying them correctly, they'll just end up getting moldy.

We usually just buy 3 packs of these and pull them for our trips as we need them, after we get done and go home, we just throw them out.

Get a medium or high impact sport bra like this UnderArmour bra. The seams are not raised and hide under a t-shirt or two. I can flatten my boobs out for the gym with two of those. Also see Jenna Marbles for an example.

Looking for a minimal digital watch that is a step above the Casio f91. For example the Casio f91 does not have a timer for pass 1 hour.

Considering the timex ironman 30 mid

Any alternative or similar in similar small size and price point I should consider? Perfer on the small side such as the size of the Casio f91.
