My father is a Vietnam Vet (Air Force) and I love him very much. He was injured there and that last injury caused some problems a couple years ago and it's been downhill from there. He's terminally ill now, and it's very hard for me to visit him. He's dependent on pain killers, for his spine, which he's had two surgeries on so I don't know it's just hard for me to see him all looped out. Just yesterday I visited and he was convinced there was a kitten in a chair and I needed to put it outside.

I do roller derby, I'm still fresh meat though, but my dad loves it! He can't really go many places because his spine puts pressure on nerves and stuff and he can just fall down unexpectedly, but he would come out to see practices and games and stuff. I want to make as many good memories with him before he goes as I can.

This duffle bag would be super helpful for me with my derby. So I can carry all my gear.

Cause I like talking a both my dad he used to be a carpenter, since he can't work now I always have him come over and inspect my handy skills. I'm a very handy girl. I just replaced the wax ring on our toilet last Saturday and he was proud of me.

Before the Goddamned Marines get all the credit.

I'm considering buying a new bag and maybe someone can help me.

I like this weekender bag by Navali but I want to use it as an everyday bag for university, my side job and free time. Is this too large? Will it look out of place? Has anyone made experiences using a weekender-style bag as everyday bag? Does it work out nicely?

I just like the look of the bag with the small extra pouches.

The alternative would be this.

This is what I use at the moment to transport my games to my FLGS on game nights:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HKMXTO?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00

But I am considering getting something like this:

http://www.amazon.com/Olympia-Inch-Pocket-Rolling-Duffel/dp/B003K4SQV8/ref=sr_1_7?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1451576096&sr=1-7&nodeID=15743251&keywords=suitcase

Not sure if it would work out as well, but its can roll, which will help with how heavy my bag is. It also looks sturdier. Still debating with myself if I should switch.

Oh, if you do decide on the canvas bag, make sure to give it a good wash in the washer/dryer. A lot of people say it has too much dye in it and bleeds when wet. Do yourself a favor and wash/dry before use.

We use this Kate Spade bag and here's what we normally carry:

  • Diapers (obviously): 10+
  • Wipes: in a sealable case
  • Baby blankets: 2+ (lay baby on these when changing or use for swaddling)
  • Bibs: 1+
  • Bottles & formula: while the baby was still breastfeeding, we kept a couple bottles with dry formula in them, then you just add water in case you need to feed the baby and no boob is available
  • Extra clothes: for when accidents happen
  • Cold climate stuff: jacket/sweater, mittens, beanie (really depends on your weather)
  • Butt Paste: we use this preventatively after poops
  • Boogie Wipes: most effective way to get out those boogies. We tried a nasal aspirator (baby hates it) and I almost threw up the one time I tried using the NoseFrida (imagine trying to siphon your baby's snot out with a hose)
  • Baby sunscreen: just in case you realize you're going to be using the stroller out in the sun a bit longer than you thought
  • Pacifiers: 3+, it's amazing how these just disappear
  • Variety of toys: more for 4-6+ months when your baby likes to play with things. You'll find out what your kid likes to play with as you go along (light up toys, stuffed animals, cars, etc.)
  • Water painting book (12+ months): Just wanted to say these are great, you just fill the pen up with water and let them go to town. The pages dry really quickly and not enough water comes out of the brush to be messy.
  • Gas relief medicine: pretty amazing how fast this works on a baby. If your kid won't eat, has a dry diaper, won't sleep and is still crying, it's probably gas.
  • Baby Tylenol: hardly ever use this, but when they teethe it's sometimes accompanied by a fever. Fevers are actually fine as long as your kid is still acting normally, but some of this can help when they can't get to sleep (for later when they mostly sleep throught the night, not for right away when they wake up every 45 minutes)

I think that's about all we carry. Later on you might put snacks in too. Most of the room is taken up by toys and clothes in our bag. Not the type of bag you're looking for, but hopefully the list will give you some stuff to think about.

I use a black Puma bag from Amazon, I think I got it for $15-20. It's only a few months old but it seems sturdy and like it doesn't have parts/paint that will just crumble and crack (that was the problem I had with my old bag). I like it because it's very space efficient. It's even got a compartment you can fit your sneakers into!

Looks like it's selling for $30 right now.

Ive had this bag for 2 years and it is still in great condition, it’s made very well.

It’s large enough to fit a belt and water bottle plus everything else I carry (wraps, sleeves, bands, jump rope, etc). But also small enough that i feel comfortable bringing it onto the floor. Even smaller if I take out my belt.
It’s a good size to use for a carry on, on a plane too, or an overnight bag.

May be extravagant, but looking for a canvas bag to store a roadside / emergency kit / supplies in my trunk. I'd love to throw a filson bag in there knowing it's going to last a lifetime, but think that might be too much for it's purpose.

What brands are good filson knock offs or good alternatives? Here are a few I found on Amazon:

iblue weekender

Dreamhunter Canvas

S Zone Canvas

This is basically my exact setup except I'm using an eBags backpack and a cheap duffel off of Amazon. I'd love to get a Tom Bihn but can't swing that price. The duffel has held up surprisingly well but as with any $12 bag, it will need an upgrade eventually. That Red Oxx looks like a phenomenal replacement.

I just noticed you pack a second monitor? What...how...huh?

u/Tahns · 2 pointsr/motorcycles

Hey, just so you know, I ended up buying this bag and a pack of ROK straps. I'm really happy with the setup. And holy crap, ROK straps are awesome for securing a load! Thanks for recommending them!

u/GeoSol · 2 pointsr/gaming

Yeah, but I was talking about having high expectations from a source that once wowed you, and set the bar for expectations.

But at the least I expect a product to be complete, and as stated. To release a game full of bugs is what I've come to expect from Bethesda. When Fallout 2 was released, it took 2 months of weekly patches, before the game was playable.

But to sell a $200 collectors edition and substitute an inferior quality product, and use the excuse of cost, is criminal. Of course a canvas bag is more expensive, that's why people wanted it.

Here is a great bag for only $50 , which would be MUCH cheaper if bought in bulk
Yet people would have been happy with a basic version of this bag with an iron on decal.

My solution is one of those army-surplus style big-ass-backpacks –

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0052YEXM0/

or

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00X0QSHGU/

The aspect ratio makes them look less like "rifle bags", plus they're super useful for other things.

I go to work right after the gym. Get up in the morning, put on my gym clothes and then shower/change into my work clothes after my workouts.

I really like this Solo duffel backpack: Solo Weekender Backpack Duffel, Blue/Grey https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AC3ZXOC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_0hnaCbPF27G64
I’ll usually pack my shoes, work clothes, and shower stuff in this bag. It’s easy to pack everything in since you can open it fully like a duffel. I usually have my laptop and other work stuff in a separate bag, but there is a laptop compartment in this backpack as well. Also highly recommend their other backpacks.

Me and my wife flew down to Hulaween this past year and were able to bring everything in a single checked bag and two backpacks (small personal bags). We flew Frontier and wanted to get there and back as cheap as possible but also bring everything we needed. That meant no carry on luggage and only one small personal bag each and we paid for a checked bag less than 50lb.

Lightweight rolling duffel bag on Amazon that was within the limited dimensions. Filled it with the following:

I have a huge (as big as allowed, anyway) carry-on duffel bag that I’m actually using as my diaper bag because I needed a bag big enough to also carry my pump in. It’s this one. It doesn’t have big pockets inside though, just 3 smaller ones. I can fit my house in it though, so it works good for me lol. And it’s made out of durable canvas instead of those cheaper plastic-y ones.

u/redpanda_phantomette · 5 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I have a lipault weekender bag and love it. The color makes me happy, and it's light and can be carried a bunch of different ways. I totally want the rolly suitcase, too!

I've had a duluth awol bag for years and it is small enough to fit under the seat on an airplane. I get a lot of compliments on it, it looks great and holds more than you'd think. They have changed this bag slightly since I bought it but I still think it is a nice tough bag. Note, no wheels or shoulder strap.

For longer trips I either carry a red oxx aviator duffle, a very tough, lightweight but minimal bag with no pockets or straps - small is maximum carryon size - or an Osprey Porter 46 which is a great backpack with lots of pockets, grab handles and stowable straps - good if you're not sure how long you might end up on foot.

u/jontalbs · 4 pointsr/Triumph

I went with a seat bag and it fits perfectly with it's 4 latches across the back bar and under the seat strap. I'm small and don't need much space so it works great. OXA Vintage Canvas Backpack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AJSIU72/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_KECvxb64B0V8J

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005HOMZLG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 i have this one right now. if i could add/change anything it would be to make the side pouch bigger and zippable

u/spenchu · 2 pointsr/AustralianMFA

Here's the link to the weekender bag. Searching the brand, "David King and Co" brought up heaps of different options/sizes. Should also double check whether they ship to Australia.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001BLI09K/ -- that's the one I have and I can't recommend it enough. PLENTY of room.
