Sure! I got one of these Zerolemon bad boys back in January of 2016, the previous version. It failed in December of 2017, but hey, the solar products have a 36-month warranty! They replaced it hassle-free (paid shipping and everything), and the replacement unit is the new version you see on the Amazon page there, with USB-C and QC3.0 and everything.

It's surprisingly heavy. Lithium batteries are lighter than other chemistries, but cram enough of 'em into a brick and it's still pretty hefty. Think backpack or glovebox, not pocket.

The solar function is better than I expected, but I came in with very low expectations. I haven't performed exhaustive measurements but it seems like the unit can replace about 1/20th of its charge per day of reasonable sun basking. Which is reasonable given how massive the battery is, and how small the panel is.

(Rule of thumb: It takes about a week for a pound of solar panels to produce as much power as you could've carried in a pound of batteries. This makes a lot of assumptions and you could easily find situations where half or double would be the case, but probably not a tenth or ten times.)

The light is pretty good. It only has two brightness levels, which are basically "Way more light than you probably need" and "still quite a lot of light". There's no moon-mode. (Plug in one of these old dinosaurs (remember 1997 when everyone was giving those things away?) if you need a more modest pool of light.) The pushbutton can be hard to find in the dark, but a bit of GITD nail polish fixes that right up.

Speaking of hard-to-find buttons, there's an "SOS" button on the side that I didn't see until quite recently. I honestly don't know if the previous version had it, it's that well hidden. If I had to make one real complaint about this thing, that'd be it! As above, paint it up. When activated, it flashes a (slow, about 4WPM) SOS pattern on the main LED panel. One of these days I'll turn that on and see how long it'll run on a full charge...

Charging works like you'd expect, with one caveat: It shuts the ports off pretty quickly if it doesn't see a load. Smaller devices (headphones, earpieces, small flashlights) might not present enough load to charge from this unless you put something bigger like a phone on the other port to keep it awake. This has never been a big problem for me, but it was confusing until I figured it out.

I don't have any QC-capable devices, nor anything that charges from USB-C, so I haven't had a chance to evaluate those functions. The QC port charges normal USB devices just fine, of course.

while it doesn't have a backlit keyboard, you can do what i did and get a cheap usb light with a bendy neck, so you can shine it on the keyboard from a low angle

http://www.amazon.com/iMBPrice%C2%AE-Portable-Flexible-Adjust-Laptop/dp/B011M59MW8/ref=sr_1_9?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1464753114&sr=1-9&keywords=usb+light

i got that in white to match my chromebook's color, but you can find it in many colors from different companies (it's all the same Chinese garbage anyway, but it works fine)

I'm very happy with my CB3-131, which had previously replaced a CB3-111. Tried a samsung 2016 model because best buy had a sale, but i returned that thing in a day because it was slow molasses. My CB3-131 however, has been fantastic in the speed department, very light, and rocking a great battery life

also a flush sd card slot so "permanent" storage upgrades via sd card are a plus.

I share your desire for a small area light that is dimmable warm (2,700–3,000K), but it's hard to find these for some reason. High CRI would also be nice. Neutral white (4,000–5,000K) with high CRI is much more common, but warm seems in low demand.

There are a bunch of cheap camping lights advertised as warm on Amazon these days (I think most are 3,200K). Here's one for only $4: https://www.amazon.com/HiHiLL-Camping-Rechargeable-Waterproof-Magnetic/dp/B01E3W9TOS

There are also USB hanging bulb style models with cords, which you could power off a small power bank: https://www.amazon.com/Linght-Light-Button-Dimmable-Switch/dp/B0151FGFPC

I would maybe try purchasing a few cheap options, then seeing which ones work well. Please report back if you find a good one!

u/avramce · 5 pointsr/gamecollecting

Only other things I'd suggest are:

  • Helping hands
  • Adjustable light source/snake
  • Notebook stand

Helping hands is great for small board work, or any scenario you need to hold a floating component on board when you tack it in.

The light source and be plugged into a USB battery brick, and placed where ever you need it, helpful for tight spaces when you are leaning over the board, especially if you only have a ceiling lamp.

There are probably cheaper versions of this, but generally works great as an all purpose table. Perfect for lifting the board up to your face, rather than hunching over for tiny repairs.

Specs: i5 3570k, Gigabyte 7970 xfire w/ Sapphire 7950, 128 gb Samsun 840 ssd, 1tb WD HD. A shit ton of corsair fan's I bought off my buddy for a 24 pack of beer. The Hyper 212 makes a comeback cuz my Zalman lq320with its really fat radiator wouldn't fit in the top intake fan spot. It hit the 140mm mounted on the roof. And I didn't like how it crowded the Gpu's in the other two spots.

Like I said in the imgur comments, there are still a lot of small upgrades I'm planning on doing. The big gaping holes under the two hd bays are very annoying. Does anyone have any experience with Demciflex? they sell a dust filter kit specifically for the 540.

Also, any one have a suggestion to better light this guy? I bought these Antec led lighting strips but they're usb powered and I didn't realize the 540 doesn't have water cooling holes in the back. I was looking at the NZXT Hue earlier today, they seem really interesting.

And I need a fan controller that fits in a single 5.25 bay and looks decent mounted sideways.

Edit: just wanted to add that I was very happy with the quality of this product. I've always been a sub $100 cheap case user and using this corsair case was an eye opener. My only complaint is that I actually would have spent a little bit more for just a few small additions. (Air filters for all the vents comes to mind)

I've found a number of items but I'd only want the pens. If anyone wants to take the nail tape or glue or light for their own I don't mind :) All true prices with free shipping

u/MDJT_Dan · 1 pointr/vjing

I painted right onto the console, but it was a light grey to begin with. Just guessing, I think a white base polish would work better because that's what a top layer nail polish is made for.

Glow in the dark polish definitely looks cooler, but a USB gooseneck lamp is also worth considering.

This weekend I ran a 5k through our local zoo. It was splendid, but I only got to see Mr. Lion. I was sad I didn't get to say hello to my friends Mr. Giraffe and Mr. Otter, but I'm sure they are doing well.

Here is an item fulfilling the requirements. I am jealous of your beach time. Was it sunny and perfect or did any bad weather creep in on your good time?

u/TRY_TO_UNDERSTAND · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Great contest by the way! Welcome back!

I got one of these from Amazon
The fan works surprisingly well and is pretty quiet (for a fan.)

Hey man, really appreciate your comment.

As for the lights, it's just a simple flexible light strip with a peel away sticky side on the bottom of the lights. So just peel off and apply. It's USB based, so I have it plugged into my monitor which has 4 USB ports, and depending on whether the monitor is on or not, the light will switch on and off. I got mine from Fry's Electronics, but Amazon has em for about $1 more.

Here's a link to the Amazon one :

Of course, they have multiple colors. :)

Hah I think it was a kickstarter ages ago but I've seen them on Amazon etc. link pretty sure this is the same one.

u/TimeTravellerSmith · 4 pointsr/buildapc

There are a few options for easy lighting:

  • LED fans (example)
  • LED strips (example)
  • NZXT HUE (if it ever comes back in stock)

Those are all pretty straightforward. Fans just install where you've got fans, strips either go on the monitor, keyboard, or outside/inside the edges of the case. Hue is similar to the strips but is powered internally.

You can get a little more complex with things like Cold Cathode tubes.
u/CUBICALwARFARE · 49 pointsr/starcraft

I used two of these:
http://www.amazon.com/Antec-Accent-Lighting-Blue-USB-powered/dp/B007TG5ECW

I bought Quartz Fairy Crystal Clusters, which sometimes come with very opaque bases, so I bought a decent amount more than I needed to make sure I'd got enough good, clear ones.

Then, I just went to a craft shop and constructed a trough out of Balsa wood.

Edit: Forgot a word...

u/wormwired · 2 pointsr/secretsanta

I go to lots of LAN parties. Things that pc gamers like are Keyboard cleaners

and Compressed air as getting rid of dust is essential to a gaming pc. USB lights are fun Like this
or This

I would suggest avoiding gaming mouse or headphones as those can depend greatly on a persons prefrence. Some people prefer over the head some people prefer buds. Some prefer Claw mouse some prefer palm. A keyboard is a keyboard.

It's an OxyLED Lamp I got off of Amazon. It's about $50. I love it.

u/Bring_Napkins · 2 pointsr/buildapc

As for lighting around your workspace, I just picked these up today: Antec Bias Lighting can be placed behind your monitor to give it a white glow which is supposedly good for your eyes, and Antec Advance Accent are LED strips that come in red/blue.

Set-up is very easy as they're both USB-powered. Just plug it in and turn on the switch on the cable.

u/newsINcinci · 1 pointr/AlphaSmart

Any single LED light works fine.

But this works well too: Mudder Portable USB Flexible Stick Dimmable Touch Switch LED White Light Lamp for Laptop Computer PC https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MIQUJQ4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_3XXwDb59RG5RB

If you think you might want more light, this is a good option, but at high settings it draws more power than I would like.

u/aaaaasdfghjkl · 4 pointsr/battlestations

I liked the looks of it when I saw it in OPs post so I looked it up myself. The reviews have a couple videos that show its light levels fairly well! Might get the lamp myself.

u/The_Big_Burrito · 4 pointsr/battlestations

Have not done it yet myself have been looking into it. Saw it on a friend's system and our looked great Amazon

u/treiz · 5 pointsr/livesound

we started getting some of these https://www.amazon.com/Mudder-Portable-Flexible-Dimmable-Computer/dp/B00MIQUJQ4/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1486777354&sr=8-4&keywords=usb+light+dimmable

we put a little usb hub up on the doghouse so we can plug in a couple of them. works great

u/Dragonstomp · 1 pointr/battlestations

Didn't really use a guide. Just bought a pair of Antec Advance Accent Lighting Blue USB-powered 6 LED Strip's off amazon. :)

They have double sided tape and attach to the back of whatever you want to attach em to. USB powered so nothing to wire up either.

Hmm, maybe this flexible thing will work?

https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B06XCH5LYD/ref=sspa_dk_detail_0?th=1

It would have to be shining over the top of the camera perhaps. I'd prefer the sides, but this might work.

It says "Maximum Power: 2.5 watts", so 0.5A, should be ok from the camera....

u/Whocifer · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

It's a cute little light. I think I may buy one now.

u/shoryaku · 1 pointr/battlestations

which ones? Used these and this for my blue monitor ones but the consoles have color change strips from Ikea (this one).

There are also USB keyboard lights for those who need light in one-off situations but don't want to constantly deal with OS based backlight mechanisms.
