Looks great, I do recommend a chain ring guard for improved safety and reducing the chance of coming in contact with a greasy chain.

Define 'fast'. It's relative. Some people fast is 20 mph. Other people it's 40.

This excludes bikes with suspension forks. You can make it work, sorta, but it's not good.

It's too bad bikes are designed now to look like racing bikes. There are not a whole lot of practical bikes out there.

If you want to avoid getting crap all over yourself then the best way is to have a chain guard. Belt drives are a a inferior and expensive solution to this sort of problem, IMO.

If I was you I would be nervous about the throttle-vs-nyc issue, but besides that...

Or something like that for the chain guard. I don't have that one, but there are a few different options to choose from if you want to get creative about mounting it. 'P'-style clamps are useful for adding attachment points.

Of course there are 'cycle bikes' sold that have chain guards and racks already.

There are ways to do something similar at about 50% of the budget. Used bicycles, cheaper kits, etc. The one thing you shouldn't skip on is the battery. Em3ev isn't the only good place, but it is one of the good ones.

The expensive solution was to get a belt driven bike, which has more benefits than just keeping your pants clean.

I've always thought that the entry level pearl pedals were pretty sweet. Haven't played the most recent ones, but I've heard good things about them.

Look like it's called a snap cover for a chain, but I couldn't find any of those for bike chains.

So my dad and I are getting back into mountain biking for the first time since I was a kid, and we just got 2018 Marin Hawk Hill 3's.

My crankset is a FSA V-Drive. Spec says the chain ring's a 32t, but it says 30t on the bike. I couldn't find much info on it, but I'm guessing it's ISCG-05; I couldn't see where to measure spacing. I'm guessing I have to take the cranks off and stuff for that.

Do you guys think I should get a combo bash guard and chain guide, or just the bash guard? I've only ridden it once, so I don't know if the chain falling off will ever be an issue. I was looking at the OneUp bash guide, but I saw reviews saying it couldn't be adjusted properly for a 1x11 and always rubbed unless you bent it with a heat gun, which I don't have. If I just get a bash guard, I was thinking something like this. Thoughts?
