I was surprised to find you can still buy the modern version of these. For example NAXA makes a bluetooth boombox/tv/dvd player. It even still takes 8 c batteries.

One man's opinion: I myself wouldn't touch it. It's way too old for one thing, and it hasn't been refurbished is the other.
Think about a Sony box with CD/Cassette/Radio in the same unit. Sony made variations on this for 20 years before they took out the cassette section.

Struggled with this for years. I was burning CDs, which was annoying, but just this week I ordered this cable to power a basic speaker I already owned.
Just arrived, so I haven't yet tested it. I notice the price for the cable has dropped $5 since my purchase.
