I definitely prefer boxer briefs, trunks, and briefs over boxers! Here are the things I find better:

  • The fabric stays out of the way
  • Everything stays in place
  • No wedgies or weird bunching
  • No muffin forming over my pants
  • No accidental "noose" formation
  • No need to awkwardly try to fix my underwear
  • Slimmer, more flattering profile
  • Makes me feel a little sexier (and it's nice to return the favor for women, who often wear sexier underwear for us)
  • Nothing bounces or flops around
  • Never feel worried or self-conscious about random or non-random erections
  • Shorts and pants glide over the fabric better during movement because it's smoother
  • No chafing
  • Not in middle school anymore, so it's actually kind of nice just to feel liberated from the weird social pressure to wear boxers (this was a thing where I grew up and is the reason it took me so long to even try boxer briefs and briefs)
  • The gentle compression just plain feels nice

Obviously nobody can promise that you'll feel the same way! It's not like boxers are "wrong," and it's entirely possible that you never experienced some or all of the issues I had with them. If you want to wear boxers, then cool, wear boxers.

But yeah, when I finally tried a pair of boxer briefs, it was like an epiphany. None of the bad things I'd been taught to expect (too tight, too constrictive, wedgies, look dumb, etc) actually happened, and the boxer briefs (and trunks and briefs) were actually better than boxers in a lot of those regards. I could hardly wait to finish phasing out all my boxers.

The only reason I waited so long was because at my school growing up, all the boys socially policed each others underwear. It was homophobic and stupid. After I finished all my required P.E. classes and didn't have to deal with the school locker rooms anymore, I still waited a long time to try something other than boxers.

Hilariously, the only reason I eventually tried at all was because my favorite character from my favorite show happened to usually wear black compression shorts. That indirectly gave me a kind of "permission" to even consider the idea, and eventually led to me giving boxer briefs a try. Man, I wish I hadn't waited so long. There was a huge difference in comfort for me, and I immediately realized how stupid it was that we'd all cared so much about what others thought about our underwear. It made me mad, and that's why I looked into this topic as much as I have and why I'm bothering to write all this.

I can't imagine going back to boxers and I still have a bit of a chip on my shoulder about all the years of peer pressure during K-12. Maybe it's weird to care so much, but whatever. Maybe you can relate to the peer pressure to wear boxers back in K-12, maybe not. That's my story.

Anyway, here are some suggestions to help make sure that you'll have a good experience when you give it a try. And this way, if you don't like them, then you can be more confident that it's not because you just happened to pick a bad pair to try.

    Recommended Pairs

  • Mosmann Nero Boxer Briefs: My current favorite. I absolutely love these. You can get these in multipacks, but it gets expensive fast.
  • Original Penguin Boxer Briefs: Easily the best affordable multipack. Even better than most pairs that cost three times as much.
  • 2(X)IST Cotton Stretch No Show Briefs: Incredibly comfortable briefs that fit me just right. Probably my current favorite briefs.
  • Calvin Klein Cotton Stretch Hip Briefs: Also great, and from a brand that you probably already trust.

    Good Online Stores

  • Freshpair: Large selection across all price points, but not curated very well. (Better curation than Amazon though.)
  • Underwear Expert: Smaller selection in the mid-to-high price range, but highly curated. Note that you don't need to sign up for their subscription service in order to buy from them.

    Other Tips

  • When the description talks about "support," they mean a few different things. They're talking about lifting your junk into a comfortable position, keeping it all in that position without bouncing or flopping around, and keeping erections under control (so that you don't ever feel self-conscious).
  • When the description says there is a "pouch," that means that the front is shaped specifically to hold your junk to increase comfort and support, and also to round out the bulge for aesthetic reasons. Your junk will come slightly forward (where everything naturally "wants to be") instead of being pushed down and back.
  • To cater to different preferences, pouches range from smoothed to rounded to pronounced to daring to scandalous. Most of what's out there is on the modest half of the spectrum.
  • Although most people prefer some amount of pouch, there are still plenty of people who prefer no pouch at all or don't care enough to pay more (since designs with pouches tend to cost a bit more). There's not really a name for this, so I'll just call it flat/pouchless. There's no cupping because that front is just flat, so everything just kinda ends up pushed down and your junk can move around a bit more because nothing really cupping it to hold it in one place. This style won't eliminate bulge, and in fact isn't really aiming to control your bulge at all. Instead, your thighs will stretch the center fabric taut, which is what hides and makes a big empty space for your bits. It's kind of like a flat-roofed tent.
  • This might seem like a big leap, but if you end up liking form-fitting underwear, then you should try form-fitting swimwear at least once in your life. Jammers and swim briefs were another revelation for me that I didn't try until college. Go to your local indoor pool during lap swim hours, and do a few laps in your regular baggy swimsuit. Then, try a lap in a pair of jammers or swim briefs. It's crazy different. The jammer should feel a lot better, and the swim briefs should feel dramatically better. At least, that was my experience.

I can't believe I just wrote more than 7,200 characters about all this, but whatever. I hope you find it useful.

Edit: /u/RoundCustard, I also wrote all this for your benefit.

Underwear: I used to be an Ex-Officio guy, but these days their quality is pretty lacking. I recently picked up a tip from one of the founders of Tortuga about Terramar SilkSkins https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B06XKWKWWM/ref=cm\_sw\_em\_r\_mt\_dp\_U\_gAsuDbV21T0GV and rolled the dice on a pack (3 for only $12!). I am super impressed and have loved the comfort and ballgame of them thus far. I have only had them for a couple of weeks though, so I can not yet confirm longevity.

Duluth: In fact, all the pants I own are Duluth. When I am at home, I wear either their DuluthFlex Fire Hose cargos or 5-pocket pants (basically canvas jeans). Super comfortable, durable, and wash up awesome. When traveling, in addition to one of the aforementioned pairs, I am also going for Duluth Flexpedition pants. Those Flexpedition ones are astonishingly comfortable and look fantastic; it almost feels like cheating because they are so darn comfortable. At $90/pair they are not cheap, but still cheaper than many other "travel pants" I have tried that were nowhere near the comfort or quality.

On the subject of Duluth though, I do find their sizing to run large (which is good for me), but it is also hit-or-miss. If you are doing online ordering, I would strongly suggest ordering your size and also a size down (or up), trying them on, then return whatever does not work for you. Their mailed returns are not free shipping, but are flat-rate (I think $7). If you have a Duluth store handy, that is much better because you can try on everything there, or return online orders in-store.

Hope that helps!

Context: I'm a 21-year-old butch gay woman who has been wearing men's boxer briefs pretty much exclusively for about a year now.

I wear Hanes, Fruit of the Loom, or American Apparel in small or medium — these, these, or these, mostly.

  1. Not too terribly important, but I'm not going to buy underwear that is particularly feminine or has joke slogans printed on it. Black/grey for sure, and the basic red/blue/green, maybe fuchsia/purple.
  2. Doesn't matter too much, I kind of like the Hanes X label. A thick waistband is definitely important though.
  3. I'd be interested.
  4. Absolutely.
  5. Fit, comfort, appearance are super important. Long inseam, thick waistband, and a front pouch that doesn't sag are all really important. Hanes, AA, and Fruit of the Loom are both great for this; lots of other brands, like Meundies, Calvin Klein, Uniqlo, etc have huge pouches, and I avoid them. Price is also important. Hanes/FotL come in inexpensive multi-packs, so I'm not about to spend $20 a pair for everyday undies.
  6. Can't stand the ultra-short inseam of most "boy shorts" designed for girls. I'd prefer a 5.5"-7" inseam.
  7. I think I covered just about everything in question 5.

Thanks!! I love them too, they're probably one of my favorites!! I normally buy nice/expensive underwear but I had to try these out when I saw them online. I'm glad I did because I ended up loving them. Definitely not all-day undies, but great for when you wanna get someone in the mood!

Here's a link to them :) Hope you enjoy!

Here is my secret list shhhhhh... It's not cheap options that's for sure but I like being comfortable I guess, and it's stuff that will last for years of festival fun!

  1. A deep cell marine battery: Available at any auto parts store for about $120. You can then buy a cheap cigarette lighter hook up and intall it onto the battery. Then get yourself a decent 200watt power inverter, about $30. Then you can get some decent sounding speakers that plug in or a bluetooth one. Then you can charge your phone, power the speakers, or charge the bluetooth. With these speakers the battery will last 16 hours! This will also prevent you from ever messing with your car stereo or battery for any reason. Then you can just recharge it with this for next year.

  2. Blackstone's The Dash Portable Gas Grill and Griddle Combo is a great grill to cook every meal you would ever need.

  3. Not to get controversial but these and these have always done me right.

  4. Then this and this will leave you fealing like a million bucks or like someone in GL!

Although you may not want used clothes, don't be afraid to go to some thrift shops! A lot of them will have stuff NWT that is heavily discounted if you know where to look.

You don't want to skimp on silk underwear/compression shorts. Plan to spend the majority of your money here, since it's around a sensitive area. Plus if you get cheap compression shorts, you run the risk of rubbing holes in them where your thighs meet :P Some good brands to check out would be Under Armour, Champion, and Hanes. Champion can run really expensive though, so watch out. Stores to look at for cheaper prices are Walmart, Kohls, Target, etc. Ebay also might have some for cheap, but of course make sure they're new with tags. Also, do you specifically want SILK boxers? Those aren't going to come cheap. Knit ones are much easier to find for <5 or in packs for <10. Here's a link to compression shorts on Amazon, they might seem a little expensive but you're not going to get any cheaper without sacrificing quality. Uniqlo's Arisim line also has a really good rep over on /r/malefashionadvice.

For athletic shorts, you could probably find some in here. On Amazon try this or this or this (you get the idea).

For shirts, [Target](http://www.target.com/s?searchTerm=graphic+shirt&category=9976707|All|matchallpartial+rel+ALL|men&kwr=y&lnk=lnav_narrow%20by%20category_2#navigation=true&searchTerm=graphic+shirt&sortBy=PriceLow&Nao=0&viewType=medium&category=9976707|All|matchallpartial rel ALL|men) seems to have some in the $5-10 range. Amazon also does for under $7. I would try to see if you can pick up some new/lightly used ones at thrift shops though, as they normally go for $1 or so.

Sorry that the graphic tees are expensive, maybe buy one a month? 6dollarshirts was a good place to visit, keep checking there. Aliexpress also has a lot of cheap ones and free shipping, but shipping might take a while.

Obviously you don't actually intend to have these undies for the rest of your life, that's just not reasonable. But you are trying to find a good solid purchase worth buying even if they cost a bit more than the bargain brand.

I recently underwent an underwear awakening and threw out all of my plaid boxers and converted to microfiber boxer briefs and it has been great.

My personal favorite for comfort are: Calvin Klein they are pricey and don't have a wang door, but they are still super comfy after months of use and washing.

Runner up, and best bargain are: Jockey almost as comfortable, do have a wang door, although its a little odd, more like an athletic cup pouch with a backdoor. These are cheaper, but I have been having a harder time finding them in my size in Gray or black.

Sigh I give up on buying locally, or even online in Canada. My Dad lives in Ontario near the Niagara Falls, NY border and has a Nexus pass and easily pick us up some underwear and bring it across (they don't charge him duty/taxes for goods under $200). He is flying out here at the end of January, anyway. So here is the math (all in CAD):

$27.59 after 15% tax for a 2-pack at Mark's = $13.80 per pair = $110.40 for 8 pairs
$22.84 after 8% tax and exchange rate difference for a 4-pack at Walmart.com = $45.68 for 8 pairs
Savings of $64.72 if I bought from Walmart in the States.

If for some reason the underwear don't last long (like the promise of the expensive underwear from Take it Outside), I can easily buy more underwear from the States when we travel back to Ontario this summer. It's STILL significantly cheaper.

My parents send socks for my husband every Christmas because they know it's slim pickings out here for socks as well. He can't control his sock size, but he can control his underwear size, lol. He's working on losing some weight, so hopefully I can start buying underwear locally again.

LOL who knew buying underwear had to be so complicated?!

Edit: sonician just saved the day. I can buy undies right now. :) :) :)

Have you checked AirBnB yet? There's probably some apartments that you could rent that are close to hotels that are used as pick up points for excursions.
I used these guys when I was there in December 2015, https://www.re.is for couple of my tours.
I went on the following tours;

Warm Baths Cool Lights ( A geothermal pool, then northern lights )

Game of Thrones tour ( used greyline.is for this )

South Shore Adventures (Get to see the Skógafoss waterfall and the Black Sand beach, couple other stops as well )

Here's what I wore on most days.

Underwear ( http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00Z8HWXIM )

Thermal Pants/Long Sleeve (http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0064D1DNK, then the same kind of top)

3 in 1 Jacket ( http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00HQ33NTY )

Snow Pants ( http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00AHJM8CM ) I used a different set of snow pants, that I ordered through aliexpress, but had these along incase the ones I got from China didn't work out. They ended up being perfect, so I never even wore these.

Boots : Good set of Hiking boots, that were waterproof.

Wool Socks were a must as well ( http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00TOWNXO0 )

I also had two sets of gloves. Ones that were windproof but touchscreen capable so I could take pictures with my phone. Then another that were heavy duty/waterproof just in case. I mostly just wore my windproof ones, as they were slightly waterproof as well. Also a really good beanie hat. I also carried a neckgator just incase the wind got to be to much for me.

Same thing was happening to me. I'm still trying various brands but so far Exofficio and Saxx have worked out well.

The Exofficio (92% Nylon/8% Lycra) I like best and they breathe really well. I like Saxx (95% Cotton/5% Spandex) because they feel soft and comfortable but they have a thick waist band that I don't care for.

I recently tried Champion (58% Cotton/37% Polyester/5% Spandex) since it popped up on Amazon. They seem to work well but run small in the ass area. I may try a large to see. I went with a medium based on their size chart. Potential is there so I'm hopeful.

u/hyf32 · 3 pointsr/sex

I recently purchased Obviously boxer briefs. They’re made of a Lycra material that really accentuates your butt. More importantly though, there’s a separate pocket in the front for your penis and scrotum that allows them to swing free. This design presents your package very visibly, and my wife seemed to think they were pretty hot. Note that depending on your size, it may push your penis far enough forward that it’s literally visible through your pants (which may make these best suited for nights at home). Overall, this is the best example of sexy lingerie that I’ve found for men!

u/fh49469032017 · 3 pointsr/chastity

"Saxx" brand "Kinetic" style boxer briefs are fantastic. Supremely comfortable and they have a "pocket" for your junk that holds everything in place securely but comfortably. There are even little "web" ridges that slide up between your balls and your legs to keep them from touching/sticking.

I like the long-legged kind because I travel a lot for work and those never ride up on me. Ever. Plus the wife LOVES the way they look on me, especially with a cage underneath.

My boyfriend loves any underwear made from modal. He loves his Calvin Klein boxer briefs, but they're a bit expensive. He also loves the boxer briefs from Meundies. He says they're super soft and comfortable. If you subscribe they're $16 and your first pair is also $16.

u/etcin · 1 pointr/bigdickproblems

Cotton underwear is mostly held up by the waistband, because that has the most stretch. Compression underwear stretches all over, so they stay on better if you get a bigger size.

I guess you need something like that, but with more pouch room. You should try these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/LAPASA-Briefs-Extremely-Fabric-Shorts/dp/B07JLRPYBY/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&qid=1573570352&refinements=p_4%3ALapasa&s=clothing&sr=1-4&th=1 They stretch a lot. On me they don't look like the pictures on amazon though. My bulge in them is a lot more penis shaped. I find them very comfortable. But I'm not comfortable wearing them in a locker room, because they look like I'm trying to show off. I don't think we can post pictures here, but I can PM you how they look on me if you want.

I also have some sport boxerbriefs (https://www.amazon.co.uk/LAPASA-Performance-Underwear-Breathable-Underpants/dp/B07L8FW1W8/ref=sr_1_20?dchild=1&qid=1573570352&refinements=p_4%3ALapasa&s=clothing&sr=1-20), cotton boxebriefs (https://www.amazon.co.uk/LAPASA-Shorts-Stretch-Easy-Removable-Waistband-Multicolour-2/dp/B07JLSY3K7?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1) and briefs (https://www.amazon.co.uk/LAPASA-Mens-Pack-Briefs-Underwear/dp/B07FLXTHCC?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1) from the same brand. Those I don't mind wearing in a locker room. They look like most underwear, but still have more pouch room than most. Those cotton briefs are the only cotton briefs I can wear without adjusting all the time. All those don't have as much room as the modal ondes though, because they don't stretch. If you need as small waistsize, they might not have enough room for you.

I also like these https://www.amazon.co.uk/KAYIZU-Underwear-Ultimate-Cotton-Shorts/dp/B06XH3Q1N5/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=kayizu&qid=1573571004&s=clothing&sr=1-1 They have a lot of pouch room, more than the Lapasa cotton boxerbriefs. I didn't get them on Amazon, but bought them directly on Aliexpress so I could try out one.

u/InkSweatData · 3 pointsr/yoga

I practice many styles, so I'll give my recommendation for each.

Hot yoga/power yoga/any kind of sweaty yoga:
Shorts:
Pillar Short with Inner Liner, no underwear needed as they have a liner. Hands down my favorites. I've had my pairs for 2 years, no signs of wear or tear.
PrAna JD Short -- I usually wear this one with a Bike jock, as boxer briefs ride up too much with these.
I know some guys love wearing tights or spats, but I haven't gotten into it. I think if they're comfy, go for it.

Shirt: None, or if I do, a sleeveless Underarmour shirt

Other Yoga (Hatha, yin, restorative, etc)
Shorts: I love the PrAna Sutra short and pant. The legs are a bit long on the pant, so if there's any leg-on-leg standing balance (e.g., tree pose), I find I have to roll them up.
I've been really into these Manduka shorts as well, but I don't wear them for teaching, as they make my anatomy very... apparent.
Shirt: I tend to wear the sleeveless Under Armour shirts for most things. I also sometimes will just wear a regular t-shirt for restorative or yin. If I'm cold though in those styles, I cover up with a blanket.
Underwear: I am a huge fan of the Ex-Officio Sport Boxer Brief for yoga.

I personally don't wear compression shorts for yoga.

Hope that helps

goodness gracious man. there's no need to take such drastic measures. just get a 3oz, flat bottle, and fill it with someone else's clean urine. buy hand warmers, the type hunters use. tape hand warmer to bottle, and find a pair of boxers that have a pocket like these -http://www.amazon.com/Hanes-Comfort-Boxer-Briefs-pairs/dp/B004NW4OGW/ref=sr_1_18?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1324471135&sr=1-18

Those are the exact boxers I use. They have a large, deep pocket from which nothing can fall out of. I often work all day with my urine bottle in the pocket and it never comes out, sometimes I'm even upside down...

Here's the hand warmers - http://www.amazon.com/Heat-Factory-Premium-Hand-Warmer/dp/B001F1ZFPS/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1324471251&sr=8-4

Caveat: I don't do field work, but I have done some multiweek traveling in (hot) humid places while handwashing all of my clothing. My personal preference is men's wool underwear, something like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GKJFGR6/ref=sspa_dk_detail_1?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B01GKJFGR6&pd_rd_wg=wgvwf&pd_rd_r=PN9GG77GVBDMA9ZW0TM8&pd_rd_w=fjemj or https://www.amazon.com/Ibex-Merino-Woolies-Boxer-Briefs/dp/B011YPTK9G. In general I find men's box briefs to be more comfortable/ride up less; wool is breathable, dries quickly, and I find it to get less smelly than synthetic fibers. My partner finds wool a little itchy (she is super sensitive to wool) but she has had good luck with bamboo underwear similar to https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01JFMCNWG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1.

u/tman916x · 4 pointsr/frugalmalefashion

Puma's 3 packs on Amazon are better imo. Same price, 3 per pack instead of 2, more durable (waistband doesn't wear out as quickly). I've been through so many brands (UA, Nike, Adidas, New Balance, Hanes, Champion, Puma) and Puma's seem to be the best value.

Get yourself some run runners the small one is easy to get in but the large is do-able just dont fill it all the way.

I prefer the shock doctor because it compresses everything more tightly against your nuts and looks more natural.

The cloth one is more comfy, i use it more to bring in other things like "chapstick"

These are seriously great. I've used them to take pipes into festivals too. Makes it kinda awkward on the walk in, but if you just keep it so that it doesn't stick out, you're good. Haven't failed me once.

I also have this for sneaking in booze in larger quantities. Used it 3 times so far. The first 2 times, no problem. The 3rd time, security felt it on the pat down and mentioned it, but they could tell it was just something squishy and let it go. (they are really only concerned about weapons, but if you are obvious about your stash, they'll jack you)
