🎓 Reddit experts on chain & rope fittings
The comments and opinions expressed on this page are written exclusively by redditors. To provide you with the most relevant data, we sourced opinions from the most knowledgeable Reddit users based the total number of upvotes and downvotes received across comments on subreddits where chain & rope fittings are discussed. For your reference and for the sake of transparency, here are the specialists whose opinions mattered the most in our ranking.
Greetings All! This is my second post to this subreddit. The first one can be found here. I've really tried to streamline my EDC and only keep items that I use everyday or that would be useful in an emergency. I've also picked up a lot of stuff after seeing similar items on this subreddit. Literally the only things that haven't been substituted for something I've seen or heard about on /r/EDC are my phone, my keys, and my watch (which will soon be getting replaced with a pebble).
So without any further ado, here is a list of my EDC. Numbers correspond to the picture in the OP. Impressions of the items can be found in the descriptions in this album.

If you're wondering what my keychain looks like put together, here and here are pictures of it all connected to the s-biner. Since I removed the Gerber Dime from my EDC, my keychain has beomce a lot less bulky. I rarely ever feel it in my pocket, and if I do all it takes is a quick adjustment to make them comfy.
If you want to see some more pictures and get some more info on my Spyderco Tasman Salt, you can check out my post on /r/knifeclub here.
If you missed it at the top of the post, a short review on the items can be found in their descriptions in this imgur album.
Not Pictured But Always Carried: Sunglasses, water bottle, and bic lighter. I didn't include pictures of these because I couldn't frame it properly with the sunglasses and the water bottle. I forgot to include the lighter in the pictures, but you're not missing much. It's simply a blue bic lighter.
Not Pictured, Sometimes Carried: iPod Classic, V-Moda m80 Headphones - picture. Often I will take these along if I know I'm going to have a slow day and have some time to kill listening to music.

So that's it! Everything I carry on a day to day basis. I want to thank this sub so much for helping me sink almost an entire paycheck into these great items! I get so many great ideas from this sub.
Thank's for looking everyone. Have a great day/afternoon/night!
Been here lurking for a while and finally decided to post my EDC. Since there's been some discussion lately as to where people carry their EDC that is how my list below is broken down. Let me know if you have any additional questions.

For those interested in the EZGO and KeySmart my opinions are as follows.
I like the EZGOs form-factor, but after owning it for a while it doesn't 'stretch' at all for what's in there. I have two credit cards, ID, insurance and a punch card in mine and it's like pulling teeth to get anything out of it. Also, since it's made to fit cards, anything bigger than that can't be accommodated. As a result I have my CPL, vehicle insurance and KOBALT tool rubber-banded to the thing. I've been eyeing the Flipside 3X as a replacement, but their shipping is around $7 which is over 10% the cost of the wallet... hence my apprehension in buying one.
As for the KeySmart, I've had it a couple of days and so far I dig it but with a couple of caveats. They include two keyblanks for Schlage-style keys. I took one of them to Lowe's to have it cut and there was an issue with the blank, as a result their machine could not provide an accurate copy. I purchased a key from Lowe's and they made it without issue. Not sure what kind of weird science is up with the blanks they included, but I would be leery of buying their 'lightweight' and colored blanks as you may have similar results. My second issue may be somewhat nitpicky, but it's next to impossible to open the door with one hand anymore. Hands full of groceries or mail? Well, you better plan ahead on getting your key flipped out prior to getting to the door, other wise you'll be settin' that shit down.
Would I buy the EZGO Slim again? No. Would I buy the KeySmart again? Yes.
from a distance it looks ok, but man close up, that hand painting you did, lets just say you need an airbrush for christmas. Unfortunately it looks like shoelaces instead of cables. id go to a electrical supply store and see if you can find some decent electrical wire, and work with that.
One thing that might work as cabling for you, is these

Run a piece of wire through them, and theyll make a flexible piece of what looks like aluminum conduit, you can get them as small as 1/8th of an inch each for pennies.
Sure,

Either of these should do just fine.

Edit: I think these would be better offers from amazon. No point in getting none stainless if you can get stainless for the same money lol
FYI Green Pin Shackles are available on Amazon. They're the US brand for Van Beest. I have the 1.5 ton and they're a little small, but do the job. I also have the 3.25 ton. They're a little big, but still fit the AWL just fine.
http://www.amazon.com/Pin-GPGHBB11-Standard-Shackles-Collar/dp/B00MWW71RY/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1463519852&sr=8-6&keywords=green+pin+shackles
I think a lot of people cut them, which seems crazy to me. Are you planning on NEVER moving that strip, ever?!
Personally I have a gen 1 lightstrip behind my 42'' TV. I use adhesive hooks (something like this) in the top left and right corners of the TV and just kinda drape the strip over them so it covers the top and kinds hangs down the sides.
This approach will definitely be complicated a bit by using the strips with a smaller screen. You'll have to corral the extra length somehow, but I don't think it'll be that difficult.
I'm probably going to upgrade my TV strip to a lightstrip plus at some point and then move my gen 1 strip behind my computer monitor. I'm hoping I can just add two more adhesive hooks at the bottom corners of the screen and easily corral the extra length that way, but haven't tried yet.
I like the #3 and 4 niteize locking s biners. Very useful for keys, small tools, flashlights and come in handy around the campsite. They have 2 locking types. Buy these not this locking type.
Ex LE.
You'd be amazed at how skilled pack/purse thieves are. They literally practice for hours, the same way pickpockets do.
They also often work in pairs. You don't want to get into that mess.
There is a very easy solution, and it's not expensive, and no hassle to use.
Go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy some braided aircraft cable, like this, and some cable crimps (they come in bags of two, but get a couple of extra in case one gets messed-up when crimping it). Both places will cut it to the length you want, and it has a sturdy plastic coating, so it won't damage whatever you wrap it around.
You run one end of the cable through one side of the crimp, and feed it back through the other side of the crimp. Then pinch the crimp down to lock the cable in. There are tools for this, but you don't need one for the gauge cable you'll use; a hammer and a flat cement surface is all you need.
You don't need really thick cable. 3mm or below is fine. Get either a screw locking carabiner or a small padlock.
You only need it to be 1' 1/2" to 2' long, and it's lightweight and coils up to go in your pack.
Just seeing a pack strung-up will usually make them move on to a different target.
Copying and pasting a comment from a previous thread -
I did a DIY setup, with everything coming from Amazon except the carabiners, which you can pretty much find anywhere. Here's the links for the parts:
Steel Cable: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B003YDK49M/
Wire Rope Clips: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00III7IP6/
Pulleys: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BD6BSQ/
Thimbles: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0038YY3LW/
Tie-down Straps (for hanging pulleys from the rack): https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AS5QC1C/
Loading Pin: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IRY5U14/
Assuming you have some tools around, this should be everything you would need. I recommend a bolt cutter if you don't already have one. I thought I would be able to cut the steel cable with the wire cutters built into my pliers and it was not happening. Ended up having to make a trip to the tool shop this morning to get that.
I copied the share link as shown in the screenshot as I have with all my posts. I didn't post with a ref link - Amazon is adding that.

Proof, go to the share link: http://amzn.com/B002MD01E8 it will add it..
Here is the cheapest route for fastening the wire to your end posts. Aluminum Oval Crimping Sleeve. You'll need a swaging tool to crimp them. The link is the cheapest one I could find.
What you'll do on your end posts is drill two holes per line, vertical of each other (edit: side by side would be stronger, but might not look as nice, your call on this). Make them about 1/2"-1" apart. Feed the cable through one and back through the other and crimp it together. You'll need some help on one end of the railing to make sure you get it really tight before crimping.
The other option is this Atlantis rail stuff that you're probably seen, it's expensive.
Tensioners: These go on only one side of each cable run.
Achors: These go on the other side of each cable run.
You only need 1 tensioner per line.
For electronics: Garmin watch with HRM & strap. RoadID. Jawbone UP.
I'm about to be experimenting with water for the Summer months here in Florida. I bought a handheld and didn't like it. Then I got a good deal on a camelback-like setup. I've also considered hear belts that hold like 2-4 small bottles, but I'll check out this backpack setup. I usually just run with a Halo headband to catch sweat, but I'm going to try a Brooks visor to not only absorb sweat but keep the sun off my face. I'm trying my damndest to not resign myself to the treadmill this Summer.
Also, for car keys these are priceless. Super tiny. If you have a keychain setup where you can take your ignition key off by itself (which you should, because having your other keys dangling from your ignition can cause damage over time), you clip this onto your top lace and tuck the bottom of the key into a lower lace and your key stays put.
Note that the straps you linked have 10 and 15 ton capacity, and none of the shackles on rustysoffroad.com rates higher than 5 tons. To use that 15 ton strap safely, you'll need a 20 ton shackle
Okay, so you say I need a crimping tool. I will also need crimping sleeves I believe they are called? Anything else?
I'm looking at these right now:
Snap links (like this http://imgur.com/X6dPd) Or carabiners? I have some of the Nite Eyes S carabiners (hard plastic) like this. Harbor Freight carries them too, if you have one close by.
>2 ryuko bunny girls
4 Ryukos actually.
Had to lower top shelves on both to fit those bunnies using cable clamps.

When I opened the links, it brought me to a page with the referral tag. For example, you posted this:

The referral tag doesn't show until the link is opened.
If this was a mistake, you can resubmit the posts correctly, but this does violate the "no referral link" rule.
