You've already gotten lots of great advice here, but just throwing out a couple more ideas...

  • Play a game like "red light/green light" but with talking. Explain the rules of this exciting new game: when I say "talking time", you have to talk as much as you can until I say "quiet time", and then you have to be totally quiet until the next "talking time". Start out with very short "quiet times" so she can be successful, and then you can challenge her with longer and longer times as she gets better at it. Might not give you much of a break in the short-term, but at least it starts letting her practice self-control over her talking.

  • Another game: the "listening game!" Challenge her to see how many sounds she can hear in different locations (the kitchen, the bedroom, the backyard, etc). Listen with her for a set amount of time (maybe show her a timer so she can see how long is left; again, work up to longer times), then discuss all the different sounds you heard.

  • There are a couple good picture books on this theme that you might read with her, such as Lacey Walker Nonstop Talker, My Mouth is a Volcano, and Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns to Listen. You might also check out The Listening Walk or Silence before playing the above-mentioned "listening game."

  • Maybe reframe the problem as working on listening, rather than talking less. Play some games to practice listening skills, like being a robot who follows directions (of course she gets to take a turn giving you directions too!), or listening to music and drawing/painting what it sounds like to her.

  • Try some relaxation or meditation exercises - this site has some cool ideas, and there are quite a variety of apps out there too. One exercise that I love doing with kids this age is mindful eating - have her eat a chocolate chip by letting it slowly melt on her tongue, or eat an orange slice as slowly as she possibly can. Guided imagery can be fun too, though again you might have to start with something really short. Imaginations and Starbright are both collections of brief guided imagery stories; there are also recordings such as Still Quiet Place and Indigo Ocean Dreams. I've also heard good things about the book Sitting Still Like a Frog.

  • Love the "brain voice" idea that others have mentioned. Maybe you could practice using your brain voices together, like agree you're both going to say the ABCs in your heads at the same time (you can kind of bob your head or something to show that you're thinking each letter, to help her go through them all slowly). Have her try singing songs in her head, reading signs or short sentences in her head, etc.

  • Not exactly a long-term solution, but you could try to find her some other listeners besides you! When she's talking your ear off, tell her to go talk to her brother, or the dog, or her favorite stuffed animal. As she gets better at writing, she can write letters to friends (or you!), and journal to herself. In fact, it might be worth getting her a fun exciting diary now (something like this) even if it's a bit laborious for her at this point; at least maybe she'll be quiet focusing on her writing!

1. Something grey

2. Thunderstorm MP3

3. Take your pick just scroll down

4. For my baby because I want a cool ass baby haha! Also, daddy will like it!

5. The Hater trilogy, linked is the first of the 3. This book keeps you on your toes. It's an amazing apocalyptic book that has immense imagery. All I can say is read it.

6. Nail tape, it's not nail polish, just decoration.

7. Cats! There is a cat in the design.

8. So pretty!!

9. Because it'll always put a smile on your face!

10. Survival Backpack Has enough items to help a group of 4 survive for 72 hours. This will give the people with the pack a 72 hour head start from everyone else to establish a safe spot. Everyone else is trying to find essentials now getting stuck and eventually taken over by a hoard, whereas the person with the pack doesn't need to waste time getting food, water, and some medical kit.

11. Cookware My boyfriend and I have been living with his parents for a while now and we are getting our own apartment soon (all utilities included, yay!!). His parents decided not to pay the gas company the $500 deposit to have it turned on because we live in the south and don't need to heat our apartment, we would only use gas for cooking. Because of that I haven't had a meal cooked on/in a stove in about a year. We either eat things fresh, microwaved, in a crock pot, or fried. I am sick and fucking tired of it. With the cookware I'll be able to change my eating habits because I won't be limited to what things I can cook with. Also, when I was a little girl, I never ate at a kitchen table because we didn't have one. We would eat meals separately, and I always longed for the family dinner atmosphere. My goal is to have a family dinner at least 3 times a week. I know the cookware won't help me achieve that goal, but it puts me one step closer.

12. Baby mittens

13. Soda Stream It's the 2nd most expensive item, the survival pack above is, but the Soda Stream is my dream item. My ex roommate had one and it's amazing! Also, I'm pregnant and can't have caffeine, but I love the bubbles so much!!! With the Soda Stream, I'll be able to make anything carbonated!!! I LOVE mixing in the Crystal Light powered packets, yummy!!

14. Cute storage cube

15. Owl Necklace

19. I'm obsessed with my unborn baby. But then again, aren't most expecting mothers??

|about artist|www.thenightishere.com https://itunes.apple.com/au/album/medicate-me-single/id570166508 The Night has been compared to Arcade Fire, Brand New, Bright eyes, Manchester Orchestra and Kings of Leon. Although diverse, the band is pleased and proud of these connotations as many of these artists have all been major influences in their creative journey. The Night began as one song-writers effort to write music that “would bridge the gap between good music and good storytelling, by allowing one to complement the other.” ([more on last.fm](http://www.last.fm/music/The Night))|

This build really doesn't serve much of a purpose, other than simply to be. It's great to just pick a spot and watch the day drift by.

For best effect, disable GUI sound effects.

If you're looking for ambient soundtracks for your parks and feel like dropping a few dollars here and there, you can pick up some albums by Dan Gibson on Amazon.

The purely ambient albums are ones like...
Solitudes: Volume 1,
Woodland Rain, and
Songbirds by the Stream

There's also a myriad of albums that have music combined with ambient tracks; both types are great for stress relief.

u/disgruntledhousewife · 2 pointsr/asmr

So for recommendations, I Beth Freschi is probably one of my all time favorites. Here's her [amazon page)]

Lisa Guyman is also pretty good, she has a few but this is my favorite)

You can also suggest she try some of the quick samples on amazon or other mediation sites - meditation is hit or miss, and what one person likes isn't the same for everyone (very much like ASMR videos) I don't like 90% of them out there, so it can take a bit to find what you like.

Another trick is to make a routine - I know everyone says that, but it does work. I was so skeptical and I would give up a few days into it because it wasn't working, but if you keep at it, it works. Something like have a cup of herbal tea before bed, brush teeth, get into bed, rub a bit of lavender oil on your face, take a few deep breaths, snuggle under the covers and listen to your meditations.

u/qyron · 2 pointsr/kundalini

It sounds like your situation currently involves strong, crisis-level tensions. Until the tensions are reduced, it would be hard to achieve balance. So you don't want to be using high power techniques right now.

At the same time, though, to get off medication and restore control, you would need to reduce those tensions. Doubtless, the simple passage of time will help. But don't underestimate the value of simple guided meditations - chakra balancing and relaxation - in situations like this.

There are many out there. I tried a fair number of them and found this chakra balancing routine by Deepak Chopra available from Amazon digital music to be simple, calming and effective. But it is just one example.

u/DarthContinent · 1 pointr/AskReddit

I find that nature sounds can help, like the sound of a thunderstorm on repeat; here's one, Echoes of Nature - Jamboree.

Ambient techno can be quite relaxing to fall asleep to, like instrumental, mellow stuff by The Orb, Boards of Canada, Moby, etc.

There are some movie soundtracks which are dreamy and sleep-inducing, like the recent soundtrack to the movie Drive, also the soundtrack to Gladiator.

u/RobotCounselor · 2 pointsr/Retconned

I love being mindful of each chakra as I meditate. My favorite chakra album is Chakra Suite: Music for Meditation, Healing, and Inner Peace. Here is the direct link to it on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06W2HKHPJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_XulJzbRMTXM4G

u/SagaciousCrumb · 1 pointr/StackAdvice

For meditation, I prefer tech-assisted styles that use binaural beats. Things like the iAwake Profound Meditation Program, or the stuff from Centerpointe. Also this: https://www.amazon.com/Awakened-Mind-System-Jeffrey-Thompson/dp/B0011ZRTCU/

If you're just starting out, guided meditations can be really helpful, and there apps Buddhify and HeadSpace give you a ton of options for that.

Straight up meditation (like Zen) is really hard and takes tons of discipline and support from teachers/community, so I don't recommend it right off the bat.

These other tools allow you to make it a habit, and THEN explore different styles. Also, 5 minutes every day is better than an hour once a week.

u/mikesanerd · 3 pointsr/Pitt

Instead of blocking the noise, you may want to try covering it up. This is usually much easier. I know a guy who used a Brown Noise Generator in the dorms. You can buy a dedicated one, or just get something like this. A more low tech solution would be to put something noisy like a fan on for background noise. If that's not enough, you could also supplement it with a sound dampening sleep mask. This is a highly regarded one.

Edit: In case you are wondering, brown noise is a low pitched hum that is supposed to make good background noise. Here is an example

/u/davedawg21 heads up...here’s a Canadian contest!!

Something crazy cool on my .com list is...an album from 1984, that I owned on cassette because I stole it from my mom, and I listened to it whenever I needed to chill out relax. And it’s got a great name- Deep Breakfast

u/roses1218 · 2 pointsr/productivity

This is my usual..."Chakra Suite: Music for Meditation, Healing and Inner Peace" by Steven Halpern on Amazon Music. https://music.amazon.com/albums/B00B6HVOQU?ref=dm_sh_I3HPEazYx7BYoxIdrSIv2lXFeq

Mostly because I’m lazy and it’s one of the first ones I found. And also because I read somewhere that Steven Halpern uses particular frequencies that have some sort of healing power. As opposed to just regular old chill music. I don’t know any more than that, but I figured why not?

u/ShiggieSmalls · 3 pointsr/tipofmytongue

Here you go! And here is a YouTube playlist of all the tracks.
