Your hair sounds a bit similar to mine tho a bit finer and more prone to be weighed down with synthetic products; that was very intuitive of you to notice! The major pitfall of common store brands is that theyre filled with sulfates, silcone and parabens. They will cling to your hair shafts and build up over time leaving your hair waxy and heavy.

If youre an ingredient reader look at like the top 5 ingredients; you can usually spot the bad synthetic stuff pretty fast. For sulfates, look for ingredients that end in “-ate”, this typically indicates that its a sulfate. Silicones normally end in “-cone”, “-xane”, and “-col”. And parabens can usually be spotted by ending in “paraben”.

Some general advice would definitely be: 1. Dont crank the shower temp up to max. Hot water only makes skin drier which leads to more compensation in oil production. 2. Dont wash your hair every day. you can shower everyday, by all means I encourage it! But save the shampoo for every other day. Most excessive oil problems are actually because youre stripping your hair dry and your scalp is over compensating.

As far as some product recommendations! I would get a nice Clarifying Shampoo ; These are best used maybe once a week if you have thinner hair, tho I have been known to use mine more frequently if my hair feels truly disgusting which sometimes hair just do that. These are good for stripping away the weeks build up of grime and sweat and dead skin. your hair will feel very squeaky after using this stuff. Always condition and leave it in for at least 5 minutes before rinsing.

A good Dry Shampoo for those days you dont have time to shower is a God Send or simply to spruce up your hair on No-Poo days. Remember to comb your hair after applying it cause this stuff can really cake up on your hair if you start to sweat.

Since my hair is so short its really hard to follow most of the instructions of hair regimens (theres a big to do about focusing on your roots versus hair shaft in most hair regimens) so I tend to use primarily Co-Washes! I dont have tight curls or coils but Ive found they are very effective at cleaning my hair, moisturizing it, but not stripping it so much that I end up back where I started. Theyre basically conditioners with a few of the sudsy bits of shampoos mixed in. Theyre similar to a 2-in-1 but they err on the side of the conditioner rather than the shampoo. They are much better for healthy hair and scalp.

A couple of my favorite cowashes are: NYM (Im very fond of this brand XD); Mop Top (if you dont mind a brand thats not in stores) or As I Am (This is the only CoWash I do not follow up with a light conditioner as coconut oil is very heavy on my hair).

With thinner hair its best to try and avoid products with heavier oils that are slow to absorb like Coconut and Olive oils; I would only suggest these if you are going to do something after your shower that will involve intense heat like curling or straightening irons. Products with lighter oils like Argan and Grapeseed will absorb more quickly and wont leave thin hair feeling greasier but will still moisturize it. Jojoba Oil tends to have properties of both and is a good middle ground.

Even tho I use co-washes, there are still surfactants in them and a light conditioning afterwards works wonders for sealing the deal. My fave conditioners usually have really light oils in them because my hair is prone to getting weighed down: Argan Oil Conditioner (my current go to particularly because it has more of a cedar wood and patchouli scent instead of typically floral scents); Argan Oil and Lavender (this one can leave a rather strong girly floral scent in your hair but its absolutely lovely); Leave In Spray or Leave in Milk (And if your hair is being an absolute pain about being weighed down, never underestimate a nice light leave in spray or milk. A little bit goes a long way for conditioning temperamental hair).

---

The best part is that a lot of these tips can also be applied to the skin of your face too. Too oily? Your showers may be too hot or the soap/astringent you are using may be to HARSH and are stripping everything away, good and bad. Try something lighter like a Toner. Moisturizing after washing your face can be important. Some toners also moisturize lightly (like Rose Water Toners) but if youre still feeling a bit dry, light moisturizers made for facial skin can be a nice way to finish up a shower routine!

Also Always remember to wash you pillow cases regularly!

---

The most important thing to remember is that changing the chemistry of your hair and skin routine can take a bit of time to settle in so you might not see a change immediately. Id say give it at least 1-2 weeks to really see if things start clearing up and if they dont keep track of the changes and adjust and try different products. its a bit of a pain in the wallet, believe me, I went thru half a dozen or so different products before I narrowed it down to a couple things: coconut oil was too heavy for my hair and jojoba oil was to slow absorbing for my skin but Argan Oil and Rose Water are a true delight; Im allergic to Salicylic Acid and thats a huge ingredient in a lot of products and acne medications; and my skin is Combination so it can vacillate wildly between oily and dry states. I did find a nice set of products tho that get the job done eventually! I hope you can find some faves yourself!

Three raves this week. Usually with the warmer weather, my dry skin tends to retain its moisture better. Not this spring! Decided to try some new moisturizers and I've been so happy with them. I also ordered a new sunscreen as a celebration for finishing my first year of grad school.

Rave: Cosrx Balancium Comfort Ceramide Cream. Love! I've been eyeing this for a while now and I'm so happy with this purchase. The cream is more like a balm but sinks in to my skin and is so calming. There is a fragrance but to be honest, I've really enjoyed it as nearly everything else in my routine is fragrance- free.

Rave: Cerave Baby Moisturizing Cream. I've never been a huge fan of Cerave in the tub but I was dedicated to finishing the tub before buying something else. That said, I absolutely love this cream. Its heavier so I only use it at night but its so soothing and moisturizing. It also is overall a more elegant moisturizer than cerave in the tub. Will definitely repurchase.

Rave: Supergoop Skin Soothing Mineral Sunscreen. I've heard some iffy reviews about supergoop but this sounded too good to be true: soothing, mineral-based, no white cast, etc. I've been so impressed with this sunscreen- goes on great with no greasy residue which is a huge plus for a mineral sunscreen. It's also very cosmetically elegant and sits well under my makeup. I wouldn't use this for a full day in the sun but its great for an every day sunscreen.

I LOVE AZELAIC ACID. So I pretty well thought I would live with a red face forever along with a severely damaged moisture barrier. The biggest thing that helped me was azelaic acid. I use Melazepam from Amazon. Cheap and works! It's thick at first but smoothes into my skin leaving it kinda matte. At first it itched like crazy and I wasn't using it consistently enough. Then after more research, I decided to use it up and give it a chance. Along with anything high in ceramide, my skin got used to the 20% AzA. Maybe around the 10th day of twice daily use, my skin finally started to look normal. I also switch my oil cleanser to an olive oil based one and saw even more improvement in my redness. I've just added in Vit C to my under eye area and continuing to use Melazepam around the rest of my face and neck and my ENTIRE COMPLEXION is EVEN NOW! Would never have believed that was possible. Melazepam has also minimized my SFs on my nose, has finally stopped this ingrown hair on my neck from forming (I've had it for years!!!), and has cleared all the CCs on my forehead. I repeat: I loooooove azelaic acid, specifically Melazepam!

Current routine:

AM

Garnier Micellar Water - pink cap or Cerave Foaming cleanser

Cosrx Aha/bha Clarifying Treatment Toner

BELITAE Vitamin C Serum with Hyaluronic Acid to my under eye area and upper cheeks

Melazepam to the rest of my face and neck, especially my nose. Sometimes I wait after the Vit C but not usually since I don't use them in the same spots.

I do wait 15-20 minutes after my actives step.

SCINIC First Treatment Essence 3 skin method. My face loves this more than the Missha FTE.

SCINIC Snail All In One Ampoule or SCINIC Honey All In One Ampoule depending on the day.

CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion

A'PIEU PURE BLOCK Natural Sun Cream SPF45/PA+++ I don't see much sunlight at all but when I do, this one keeps me from turning beet red imediately upon application.

Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Derma Green-Cure Solution Recover Cream This is the best thing I've found for redness and skin barrier repair! My skin loves ceramides so much and this soothes like nothing I've found yet.

Medela Tender Care Lanolin Tube on my lips. Yes it's nip cream. I couldn't use it all up while nursing and it causes my skin to redden so it's perfect for a little lip color.

PM

ROHTO Hada Labo Gokujun Cleansing Oil My skin reacted to Holika Holika Soda Pore B.b Deep Cleansing Oil so this is my second one to try and I'm really enjoying it.

Cerave Foaming cleanser with a konjac sponge but waiting on
Hada Labo Rohto Gokujyn Hyaluronic Acid Cleansing Foam in the mail.

Cosrx Aha/bha Clarifying Treatment Toner

BELITAE Vitamin C Serum with Hyaluronic Acid to my under eye area and upper cheeks

Melazepam to the rest of my face and neck, especially my nose like the AM.

SCINIC First Treatment Essence 3 skin method.

All depending on how I'm feeling that evening:

LJH TeaTree 90 Essence

SCINIC Snail All In One Ampoule

SCINIC Honey All In One Ampoule

Cosrx Galactomyces 95 Whitening Power Essence

Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence

MIZON Snail Repair Eye Cream

Petitfee Black Pearl and Gold Hydrogel Eye Patch Not sure if I like these or not honestly...

Some or all of these layers followed by CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion and

Guerisson 9 Complex Horse Oil Cream

Pretty sure my shower filter, Mermosis, has also helped my skin and hair.

I also use sometimes REVITABOOST PEEL Anti-Aging Peel Pads or Cosrx Bha Blackhead Power Liquid but I skip my AzA on those days and just go back to my regular routine the following day. These are rare for me though because they make me ridiculously red again.

Things I'm waiting on in the mail:

ROSETTE Aqua Ceramide Gel

Rumase BIFIDA Snail Toner

Hada Labo Rohto Gokujyn Hyaluronic Acid Cleansing Foam

It's Skin Power 10 Formula - PO Effector

Hoping the all work well for me too!

BACKGROUND: I'm new to the world of skin care. I've never had a serious skin care routine before other than applying some acne creams a few years back when my acne was pretty bad. Now my skin is not terrible, but at age 20 I've had it with any sort of acne and want clear skin.

My skin is oily. I don't know if its very oily or fairly oily because I don't know what really oily skin is like or what a fairly oily skin is like. If I had to make a guess I'd say fairly or decently oily...sorry if that's vague.

This is what my skin looks like on an average day.

[This] (http://imgur.com/a/fGqbn) is what my skin looks like when it breaks out just a bit.

I'm showing you these because I read the FAQ and Wiki and I've narrowed my choices for cleansers, exfoliants, and moisturizers but I'm not sure which one to buy. For each category, this is what I've narrowed it down to.

CLEANSERS

u/ClosetYandere · 3 pointsr/AsianBeauty

I'm not familiar with the cleansers, but a few lovely moisturizers I like for dryer skin are:

Shara Shara Water Girls Ice Cream Especially lovely for warmer months. It's cooling and absorbs nicely!

Miss Flower & Mr. Honey A bit of a commitment but I recommend getting a decant sometime! It's so lovely!!

Etude House Moistfull Collagen Cream It's really more gel-like in consistency and I was very impressed by this product, especially considering the low price point! This is a perfect example of luxurious doesn't necessarily equal expensive!

...hope this helps! I'm sure the others have great suggestions too!

I'm a guy, but I've had to use facial moisturizers ever since I went on Accutane when I was younger, so I have experience in this area.

For starters, you want a facial moisturizer that is both noncomedogenic (won't block pores) and hypo-allergenic. It will say this on the back. Also, if you are sensitive to the sun, try to get one that has SPF 15 in it.

Funny that the Positively Radiant one made you break out. That's been my go-to for years as it moisturizes very well and even contains 0.5% salicylic acid to help curb breakouts. The small amount of salicylic acid doesn't make me feel any drier and is great at regulating breakouts without needing to use benzoyl peroxide before moisturizing. But then again there's two different Positively Radiant products out on the market. I've no experience with the "Active Naturals" version of it, but maybe that's the one you're getting and it's not working out?

Someone else recommended the Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin and I used that for a bit and it worked out great. There's also a variant of that with Alpha-Hydroxy acid in it which also seemed to help even out my skin tone (always have had a pretty uneven skin tone on my face due to my previous teenage-year bouts with acne). However, you might not want to dive in to it since there's a possibility it will just make you feel drier.

Cetaphil is a brand marketed towards people with acne who want a moisturizer that won't clog pores. I love the stuff for my body as it moisturizes probably better than any other product I've used, but when it's on my face it has an odd texture that makes you feel like its clumped up (it's not) and it's very greasy so I don't use that.

The other one that worked very well for me (but still not to the degree that the Aveeno one has, which is why I continue to use it) is the CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion.

As for chapped lips (if this is an issue) go with Carmex, hands down. It works way better than any other lip moisturizer and doesn't need to be reapplied obsessively like Chapstick or Burt's Bees.

Other tips:

-Use an exfoliant once per week. Don't go overboard and use one every single day, as that will just further irritate your already-irritated skin. There's no question that St. Ives Apricot Scrub is your best choice here. Exfoliated skin can retain moisturizing lotions better than flaking skin. Just use it sparingly. Experiment with it.

-Try finding a shampoo without SLS in the ingredients (it's tough since almost every shampoo you'll see has it in it, but there are plenty without) to both avoid hair damage as well as having the shampoo run down your face and further irritate your skin.

-Shower in warm water rather than hot water. Hot water irritates skin and dries it out.

-Try adding Fish Oil into your diet, as it's known to have palliative effects on dry skin.

-Put a humidifier in your bedroom.

I don't have much, but I thought of throw a couple things out there. A lot of people have success with pure squalane oil. It's well tolerated and you could mix a couple drops in with your moisturizer. There are other oils people use for moisturizing but I'm not very familiar with others. It would probably also be good to use your moisturizer in the morning as well. I've heard good things about Avene Tolerance, this one specifically is fungal safe and already contains squalane. Also, this blog post, while geared toward fungal acne, has a lot of product recommendations that might also be good for what you're dealing with. Wish I had more knowledge to help.

Edit: Also, I know you said your skin behaves the same either way, but it might be a good idea to lay off the differin until you get your hydration/moisture under control. It's likely doing more harm than good at this point.

seriously if you get NOTHING else, I'd say get this Paula's Choice toner. It feels like you're extinguishing a fire when you put it on (pour it into your palms and lightly pat on your face...then do it again).

Squalane Oil is terrific. Yes, it's oil, so you may be apprehensive, but it's an oil that your body produces naturally and it absorbs extremely well and quickly. Next to the PC toner above, this is probably my most useful product. (It's way cheaper on their website directly btw.)
Always apply any oil after everything else (except sunscreen, which must always go last).

I have fine strands, and when I used to wear it straight I would condition first and shampoo second just to get any residue out. Then product only from my ears to the ends. It's a little different now that I wear my hair naturally curly, but that really worked well for me.

For face, I've been pretty oily since coming off birth control in April. From conception to approx. week 12, I was breaking out constantly, and like you, mostly around my chin and mouth--it was really disheartening. It's gotten quite a bit better (though not as good as it was pre-pregnancy), which I'm sure is partly the placenta doing its job, but I think it has something to do with the adjustments I made to my routine. I cleanse twice a day with Glossier's Milky Jelly cleanser --something moisturizing like Cera-ve would probably work too. If I'm wearing makeup or got sweaty, I use an oil based cleanser before the Milky Jelly Cleanser. After cleansing I use Tony Molly's opening cleanser (it's in a blue bottle, available on Soko Glam, maybe elsewhere). Next I use Benton's Snail Bee essence. In the daytime, I use [this moisturizer](Natural Face Moisturizer Cream 4oz Advanced Healing 10-in-1 Non Greasy Formula with Organic Aloe Vera, Manuka Honey, Coconut Oil & More. Best Face Cream for Oily, Dry, Damaged & Sensitive Skin https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LZWV0WY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_3GqRybVQR51QX) and at night I use Tony Moly's Banana Sleeping Pack instead. A couple of times a week, I use Dr. G's brightening peeling gel to exfoliate. My doctor said all of these were fine.

TL;DR I focus on moisturizing to keep my oil from overcompensating. By moisturizing at every step, I avoid using any one product that is too heavy and makes my skin look even oilier. Hope this helps!

Thanks so much for the write up.

>Dupes are Clinique moisturizing gel and Nuetrogena oil-free lotion sensitive skin. Apply a little and rub in circular motions to damp skin so cells can soften and desquamate/shed.

I moisturize first thing after washing my face and I do wash my face in the shower quite often. Thanks for the recommendations/tips.

>If you have oily skin, other options are Cerave in a huge lotion bottle, NOT the pm one.

Do you know what the difference is between Cerave and Cetaphil? I'm having a hard time finding cerave AM without spf. Can I use a cream or face and body lotion without it feeling too heavy?

I don't think I'm stripping my skin, I don't use much on my face in regards to toners or exfoliating. I don't wear make up, only eye shadow primer and gel liner. The eye primer is so important bc without it, my eyeliner starts to smudge from oiliness (it is also from having monolids). I've been planning on getting back into make up this year but that's another thing I'm a noob at right now.

I go back and forth between 2 face cleansers, [Neutrogena Neutrogena Oil-Free] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002ECVMWM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_wtoRDbEQVGMPT) and garnier Mercier water Foaming Face Wash - it says foaming on the bottle but it does not foam at all. I wash my face with either of these in morning and before bed. I even bought a silk pillowcase last year to protect my hair and skin bc cotton was drying my face out and messing with my baby hairs.

My main moisturizer is the Neutrogena hydro boost. Before this I used the plain oil free Neutrogena. I stopped using moisturizer with spf (Aveeno) bc it felt too heavy for me and made me oiler. My boyfriend uses aveeno with spf 15 and he's never oily. once in awhile I'll use Derma E Tea Tree and Vitamin E Relief Cream.

I've started using a small amount of Paula's Choice bha for blackheads on my nose, in between my brows, and inner cheek area (next to my nose) once or twice a week for blackheads.

I get a few sporadic pimples here and there. I get small bumps on my jawline that get really itchy but it never gets red. It happens so often I think it might be hormonal.

The main problem that I need help with is how oily my nose is. Like an hour after I wash my face, my nose will have small bumps of oil. I feel like it's never clean. By night time if I don't touch my face, you can see oil on my forehead, nose, and in between my brows. My forehead somehow looks dry and oily though.

Hi, I used to suffer from cystic acne when I was a teenager for several years. Needless to say that wasn't pleasant. In fact, it was so unpleasant that at time I would pop these cysts that would leave deep scarring on my face, which resulted in uneven skin surface, bumps and holes scattering all over the place (attached photo is not the best resolution so it doesn't show the true extent of the issue). I also (currently) suffer from large pores on the nose and around the cheeks, along with many many blackheads on the nose.

About 3 years ago I went to a dermatologist and got myself some Acutane medication. It worked wonderfully. I stopped having cysts and felt very happy about myself. It was a major boost in confidence, going from several huge zits on the face at any given time/day to one per month or none at all.

That said, because of all of the damage done when I was younger, my skin now looks rather "botched". I would like to get some advice from you guys on how I should go about improving my skin to the smooth and tight condition it was once in. I did try micro-dermabration treatment at this expensive spar 3 times during the last 3 years (each costs $400) because I was desperate, but it didn't do much. And I'm only making enough to live pay cheque by pay cheque now so I'd rather develop a self sustainable routine.

My current (very simple) routine is as follows:

A.M.

The past four months my acnes exploded. I'm 20.I've always had it but never this bad. In that picture those whiteheads came in during the day over the course of 8 hours. I normally have somewhat oily skin I guess? I'm not sure how to measure that other than after several hours with no product I can feel some oil after rubbing my finger across my face somewhere. Iv been using Neutrogena ultra gentle daily cleaner foaming formula twice a day with Neutrogena oil free moisturiser spf15 for almost 2 months no change. I did NOT notice a difference .i just started using Paula's choice 2% bha salicylic acid, I have had it for about four days and have been using it at night. Cleanser to bha then sometimes moisturizer. Moisturizer always after cleanser during the day.and its hasn't gotten better. Should I wait it out? Is 2℅bha the right product. what would y'all recommend? Considering going to a dermatologist because when I got put on antibiotics for something unrelated it cleared perfectly up then came back after a week of being off the antibiotics. Is that the obvious choice? I'm weary of doctors just throwing medicine at you.
Any product recommendations I don't have a price range if it's worth it.
Link to my three products if anybody needs them.

Stop using it. If you feel bad about spending money on something that didn't work you can still use it as a hand cream or body cream.

That's a long list of stuff so it's hard to tell what you're reacting to. This is one of the reason I steer away from natural products because they put umpteen different herbs and stuff in it and I'm usually sensitive to one of them. Having said that I've been using Honeyskin which is full of stuff, but it works well for me. I see it's on the Amazon Germany site but damn, that price is like 4 times what I pay for it in the US. Here's something that's very similar by Era Organics and more affordable https://www.amazon.de/Gesichtsfeuchtigkeitscreme-Verbesserte-Manuka-Honig-Kokosnuss%C3%B6l-strapazierte/dp/B00LZWV0WY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1492688716&sr=8-2&keywords=era+organics

If you use something make sure the manufacturer says it is good for rosacea. If you go to a site like Amazon and looks for rosacea cream you will no doubt find stuff.

What might help is find a cream with MSM in it, or even MSM pills. The biggest downside to MSM cream is it smells bad. Both the Honeyskin and the Era Organics stuff have MSM. (At least the US stuff does, I can't read German, I am going by what is listed for them on the Amazon US site.)

And don't forget sunblock. A mineral sunblock is best, like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. I also like mineral makeup to hide redness and it also is a natural sunblock.

Until you find something, I would use your PC's invisible finish moisture gel mixed with some drops of oil. Sunflower, safflower, and hemp seed are supposed to be noncomedogenic. It just may be moisturizing enough when you top it with Vaseline.

Or you could try layering a moisturizing serum or toner before hand as well, like Paula's Choice Skin Recovery Enriched Calming Toner

or Rohto Hadalabo Gokujyn Hyaluronic Acid Lotion or Benton Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel

Otherwise...you could try

JOSIE MARAN Argan Infinity Cream Intensive Creamy Oil

FRESH Seaberry Moisturizing Face Oil or really just some of any oil for that matter...

I tried my best...I realize now how few options you have! Hope you figure it out! Update us when you do! :)

I haven't been to Japan, but from what I understand, it is a great place for amazing and inexpensive skincare. There's a whole sub dedicated to Asian products here: /r/AsianBeauty

I'll also link you the SCA routine page. The /r/asianbeauty subreddit also has tons and tons of info in the sidebar. Start with the basics in the SCA routine if you feel overwhelmed.

Here's some of my thoughts of the products you're using:

  • Nivea Soft: contains denatured alcohol, which can be drying, irritating and cause that burning sensation. The may not be the reason for your issue, but do keep it in mind
  • Clinique toner: I don't think this is intended to be a makeup remover. Also, does this one contain a lot of denatured alcohol too? If so, that will contribute to your issues. Instead, try using an oil cleanser to remover your makeup. This one for example should be in drugstores in Japan.
  • Jason Apricot Scrubbie exfoliator: this is going to be very rough and irritate your skin. Chemical exfoliants are considered better than physical ones. There is a section about chemical exfoliants in the SCA routine link I provided.
  • Acure Organics Seriously Glowing Facial Serum: this is an oil blend, which is fine, but I find that oils don't moisturize my skin very well. I need a mix of other emollient and humectant ingredients. This serum is also not going to do much for acne.

You didn't mention how you wash your face; do you currently use some kind of cleanser or soap?

So to redo your routine, I would add in an oil cleanser and/or foaming cleanser, a chemical exfoliant like this if you can find it, a new moisturizer (I'm really only familiar with Hada Labo, so maybe this, and preferably a sunscreen (Biore, Hada Labo and Nivea should sell cheap drugstore ones). The Hada Labo ingredient lists can be found here.

AM:

La Roche-Posay Hydrating Cleanser, sometimes on a konjac sponge if I need exfoliation

La Roche-Posay Double Repair Moisturizer

La Roche-Posay Anthelios Shaka Fluid SPF if I'm going out

PM:

Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Water -- I use this as my standalone cleanser if I'm not wearing sunscreen. If I am, I follow it up with the LRP morning cleanser.

Tretinoin gel 0.1%

LRP Double Repair Moisturizer

LRP Cicaplast Baume B5 over my whole face as a final occlusive layer just like you use. One of the best skin purchases I've ever made and I'll never use vaseline again lol.

---------------

I feel like I've tried everything... Cetaphil and Cerave gave me the worst breakouts of my life, Vanicream dried out my skin, Sebamed didn't do anything, Eucerin made my face hot, FAB has the worst smelling products EVER (seriously why is nobody talking about that smell) etc. I've wasted so much money over the years. The biggest waste of time/money was trying to do a k-beauty multistep routine, I never saw any results from those products.

LRP is my HG but I know how expensive it is. My close second HG are the basic Neutrogena products, specifically this cleanser and this moisturizer, plus I like their sunscreens. If I'm ever having to budget more, I'll go back into Neutrogena's arms for sure lol. Garnier micellar water too, which I see you use.

I hope that helps, it sounds like we have similar skin reactions to several brands and less is more for us. I know how it is to be extremely frustrated, I've spent years researching and experimenting and blahblahblah almost nothing has worked for me but azelaic acid, tret, and now the cicaplast. I'm thinking of incorporating azelaic acid again a few times a week because it really does smooth out the skin, but otherwise that's it, I'm done lol.

Ready for a book? Here you go!

I’ve suffered from seb derm AND acne prone skin since puberty, and I’m 28 now. If I was still using my original Reddit account, you’d see a post or two in my history from years back when I reached out to r/SkincareAddiction for advice. Lots of good info there, but unfortunately, none of it was very effective for me.

Quick overview of my symptoms/problem areas before I tell you what’s been working for me for the past five years:

  • When untreated, 50%-60% (and at its worst, up to 80%) of my facial skin is red, rough, and flaky—basically in a “flared up” state, but permanently. My scalp is another beast entirely; most of is covered in bump-like clusters of flakes, which become easily visible and look like a snowfall of yellow-tinted dandruff.

  • Particularly affected areas include sides of nose/nostrils, center of forehead, eyebrows, sides of mouth, hairline, and ears (outer and within the start of the canal)

  • Makeup application is next to impossible in this state, and it is physically uncomfortable.

Believe me when I say I’ve tried just about -everything- that someone with a decent income living in the US can get their hands on. I’ve even gone so far as to buy and try a product discontinued in the US due to FDA regulations via Ebay, shipped from Russia. No luck there, either.

Now, my case is rather severe. I don’t get “flare ups”. For whatever unlucky reason, this is just how my skin is. I’ve yet to discover any underlying chemical cause, but I’m still working on it.

For now, and for about the last five years, this is what has worked for me:

  1. My #1 product is something that most people who are serious about skincare will warn against the regular use of, but in my case, it’s a necessity: a topical prescription steroid lotion. I use hydrocortisone 2.5%. Without it, the rest of my skincare might as well not matter at all. When I apply after every shower (every 2-3 days), my skin is virtually flake-free, and will stay that way for some time. I can wear light foundation and powder and it looks good. I’m serious when I say that without this, I’d be miserable, and I’m sad I went so many years without it.

  2. Mild cleanser. Don’t get something harsh, and try to avoid most “natural” products, be they homemade or retail. A lot of natural cosmetics contain ingredients that can “feed” and essentially encourage the fungal aspect of seb derm.

  3. Physical exfoliant. Be careful with this. It’s tempting to regularly scrub the hell out of your face to get rid of all the flakes, but you don’t want to cause excessive micro-tearing; it’s bound to happen, but you can limit the severity by being extra-gentle. I use a salt scrub from Lush (the only “natural” product I use), but immediately follow up with my mild cleanser to limit my skin’s exposure to the stuff the seb derm likes to chow down on.

I have used a Clarisonic in the past with my mild cleanser, but I got tired of having to constantly disinfect it.

  4. An oil-free, fragrance-free moisturizer. After I apply my steroid lotion and let it soak in for a minute or two, I apply about a nickel-sized amount of moisturizer. This keeps my skin feeling hydrated and helps to replenish some moisture-loss from the steroid cream.

To break it down in order of steps:

  5. Exfoliate in shower with salt scrub.
  6. Cleanse with mild cleanser
  7. Immediately after patting face dry, apply a little less than a dime-sized amount of steroid lotion.
  8. After steroid soaks in a little, moisturize.

Now, for my acne issues — I get a ton of blackheads. I think it has to do with the overproduction of oil thanks to the seb derm. All I really do for it is, about once a week, gently extract after a shower when my pores are relaxed from the cleansing and steam, using a metal blackhead extractor. If you choose to do this, be very patient and careful. I caused some pitted scarring in my cheeks when I used to just go to town. Skin with seb derm is extra fragile, and the steroid lotion causes some thinning over time.

Secondly, before my other products, I swipe a salicylic acid pad over my problem areas. This has really made a difference.

Whew! That was long. I’m just really serious about sharing my experience with people who have to deal with this incredibly annoying and often-times depressing condition. I hope this helped. Feel free to ask questions! I’m an open book when it comes to my skin.

TL;DR: This is the moisturizer I’m currently using:

Neutrogena Oil-Free Daily Facial Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin, Ultra-Gentle & Lightweight Moisturizers Free of Fragrances & Dyes, 4 fl. oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000052YOX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_xtbXCbHYAB6TB

Evening:

Stridex in the Red Box

Bio Oil

Cerave Moisturizing Cream

On Occasion:

Something with Retinol

Aztec Clay Mask

And when it's sunny/if you are spending a lot of time outside, make sure to use a morning moisturizer with SPF in it.

Aveeno positively radiant daily facial moisturizer, spf 30

I got a sample in a Target box first? And noticed after a day or so it was almost like I was wearing makeup, my face looked smoother, more even, not dewy but a matte, clean look, with zero redness in my cheeks. I bought+finished a whole bottle, right now trying to finish up a Garnier one that works decently but doesn't feel as nice on the skin(like...a slight residue?), learned my lesson, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, whenever I finish this the Aveeno will be my Daytime moisturizer. Still searching for a nightime one that doesn't make me stick to my pillow(facedown sleeper).

Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Facial Moisturizer With Broad Spectrum Spf 30, 2.5 Fl. Oz amazon link

u/piper82 · 4 pointsr/LifeProTips

Put a fresh dishtowel down on your pillow every night. Even changing your pillowcase every two days may not be enough because of oils from the first night. Make sure you aren't doing laundry with dryer sheets (the oils in them are bad for your face); use a "free and clear" laundry detergent like this. Changing laundry detergents made a huge difference for me.

I use Differin cream and found it to be very effective long term. I've used it since high school--I'm 26 now. It also is shown to increase the efficacy of Benzaclin. It's available in generic form.

Use an oil-free pore cleanser like this one.

Use an oil-free moisturizer after your shower and after you wash your face to prevent it from drying out. Your body will compensate if it constantly has dry skin by producing more oils, which you don't want. This one is lightweight, non-greasy, and oil-free.

u/brynhildra · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

I would add for the Natural Moisturizing Factors some products that have the hygroscopic ingredients (specifically urea for ones I've listed), because for me a dupe of the Natural Moisturizing Factor would be products that contain actual NMF:

  • Hada Labo Tokyo Skin Plumping Gel Cream: price varies, I bought it a few weeks ago for $12. Has 5% urea
  • Hada Labo Premium Lotion: 3% urea
  • Eucerin Dry Skin Replenishing Cream with 5% Urea
  • Sebamed Extreme Dry Skin Relief Face Creme: 5% urea

I mention this because the only reason NMF performed well for me was because of those ingredients, and my body lotion that works best for me has similar ingredients (hygroscopic ingredients like urea, lactic acid, sodium pca, and amino acids like arginine, alanine, threonine, histidine, serine...). The CeraVe products do not function the same because they don't have any significant NMF (hyaluronic acid and glycerin are the significant ones), and the star ingredients are ceramides, which are important emollients and serve a different function.
u/lobster_johnson · 2 pointsr/Psoriasis

You should try a petrolatum ointment such as Aquaphor's Healing Ointment or Vaseline. Petrolatum locks moisture in and softens the skin. However, it's quite greasy, so it's best to use at night.

You may also consider a 5-10% urea cream. Urea hydrates the skin by drawing moisture from the air. Urea also lightly exfoliates, causing dead skin to slough off naturally, but doesn't damage healthy skin. SebaMed Extreme Relief Cream is 5% urea and a great brand. I also came across DermaCalm by Amélie Monnier (8% urea + hyaluronic acid) recently. I've not tried it myself, but it gets good reviews.

For the daytime, use a lightweight face moisturizer. CeraVe is a good, no-nonsense brand with a bunch of products.

u/oscarjeff · 8 pointsr/tretinoin

Introducing aquaphor at night is a good idea. You might also add a separate moisturizer in the morning b/c you really don't have a lot of moisture in your routine right now. (For example, I layer tret, two humectants, cerave moisturizing cream + squalene oil, and vaseline at night.) Adding more moisture to your routine could reduce the irritation and help you increase the tret frequency. You could also try buffering your tret by using moisturizer first, especially when adding another night of use, to see if that lessens the irritation. But if you find that's not enough, stick w/ four nights. You'll still see results, it'll just take longer.

For the redness, something like Dr. Jart's Cicapair cream that contains centella asiatica might be really helpful. It's super calming & soothing, and is amazing on red & irritated skin. There are less expensive options available too (A'pieu Madecassoside, Cosrx Centella Ampoule, Etude House Cica Balm, Cosrx Balencium).

u/happyjoylove · 3 pointsr/NaturalBeauty

It's not cheap but I use Acure's Seriously Firming Serum, looks like you can get it for a bit less on Amazon than retail. I use it at night and it absorbs into the skin leaving it feeling soft and doesn't break me out. I also use a clear complexion cream from Swansons that I've been really happy with. I have acne prone and sensitive skin and both of these products have not caused irritation and have not caused breakouts. I do spot treatment with tea tree oil. Also here's a list of comedogenic ratings for oils, might help.

u/nomadicfille · 4 pointsr/AsianBeauty

Are you talking about the perfect gel or their hyaluronic acid cream?

I've heard great things about the perfect gel. Has ceramides and supposed to be quite moisturizing. Also competes with other perfect gels like the Asahi Suzuki which advertises itself as a multiple step (lotion-essence-serum-moisturizer) type of cream.

u/LikesGreenTea · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

I recommend checking out Cerave Hydrating Cleanser and Cerave Moisturizing Cream; skincare products with ceramides are often recommended for eczema.

Like the other commenter said, urea is very helpful for eczema. I recommend reading this post to learn about the benefits of urea.

Eucerin makes several different 5% urea creams; I use this one. Other 5% urea creams: Hada Labo Tokyo Skin Plumping Gel (also has ceramides!), Sebamed, Balea, and Numis Med.

u/roogoogle · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

I have very dry skin and have tried many moisturizers. A couple that I really like are this one by Garnier and this other Garnier one. The pink one is my favourite for moisture but it doesn't have SPF so I mix the two together.

I've also been moisturizing with oils for many years - a mix of olive oil and argan oil. They are super hydrating and very gentle.

I also use a hyaluronic acid gel but I can't for the life of me find a link to it.

Oil cleanser --> Foaming cleanser --> hydrating toner in the moist or light version --> emulsion --> cream

The Gokujyun range gets translated in all sorts of weird and wonderful ways, so it can get a little confusing. The name 'Gokujyun' simply means 'super hydrating', all of the products contain hyaluronic acid, and the range consists of the clear, hydrating 'lotion' (what is known in Western countries as a 'toner'), an emulsion/milk, which looks and feels like a thin Western moisturizer (it's white, and comes in a smaller bottle than the lotion) and then the gel-cream hybrid 'cream'.

Edited to add: you don't have to use every step from the range. You can use them in conjunction with products from other brands/ranges.

u/chellebell13 · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I have very oily skin, acne prone and in cold Chicago winters I use Simple Rich Moisturizer and Sebamed 5% Urea Cream. Both go on very smooth, and sink in quickly, the sebamed dries a little shiny but I didn't mind since I use it mainly at night! I prefer the Sebamed because it has 5% urea which is a very gentle keratolytic agent and the ingredient list is a tad cleaner ($25 on amazon) but the Simple one is like $9 at the drugstore for a 4oz bottle and it does the trick to keep me hydrated overnight and soothes skin!

u/brienne625 · 3 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

If you are using a normal face wash (you didn't mention acne so I'm assuming it's not BP or acid base, it's probably your moisturizer. This used to happen to me all the time, but I 'repaired my moisture barrier' and I figured out I actually have pretty normal skin.

My skin would flake all the time around my mouth & nose. Scrubbing it with physical exfoliators (face scrubs, face brushes & wash cloths) only made it worse. I randomly picked up a serum at target, and that plus my moisturizer seem to work. I would love to find a moisturizer that would do both but my current method works, and my skin looks great!

Obviously all skin is different but this is the serum I use https://www.amazon.com/Acure-Brilliantly-Brightening-Glowing-Serum/dp/B0040ZHUH2 (I always seem to find it at a TJ Maxx for like 10 bucks)

Hi there!

I just wanted to let you know that Automod has removed your comment because it contains an Amazon referral link, which we don't allow in the sub.

Could you please edit the Avene URL so that everything from (and including) "tag=" is removed? That way, the product page will still be visible - but no one can make a profit from the link.

Alternatively, copy this link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01B8OSBZM/

If you've done that, please reply to this message so I can approve your comment. Thank you!

Just wanted to chime in on this also cause I also have dry skin and just went through this battle of looking for good products for daytime that I could use under makeup (basically I don't want that oily look either).

I moisturize up at night, because it doesn't matter if I get shiny from the products. It doesn't bother me to think of getting lotion on pillow cases though bc it's a skin sacrifice I'm willing to make lol.

I just recently got [this] (https://www.amazon.com/Holika-Ceramide-Ultra-Emulsion-130ml/dp/B00GTEU3SK/ref=sr_ph_1_s_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1510639155&sr=sr-1&keywords=holika+holika) and I find that it's a good base for the mornings. It isn't oily at all, in fact it's pretty light weight and might not be thick enough but depending on the thickness of your SPF, you might be able to get away with just this and your SPF to help during the daytime. Be forewarned though, it is scented kinda heavily. I don't find that the scent lingers too long though.

My two favorite moisturizers are both under $40 - I use the Mizon Black Snail AIO Cream when it's warmer, and the Banila Co. Miss Flower and Mr. Honey Cream at night during the winter months. The honey cream is a lot heavier than the Mizon one, but they're both great.

I've tried quite a few gel moisturizers and Clinique DDMG was my HG for years, but I've recently switched to this!

I haven't found it anywhere in stores, but it's always on Amazon for about the same price. I find it's a bit more moisturizing than the Clinique, but still dries quickly and isn't greasy. I'm dehydrated-oily and I love it.

Weird 🤷🏼‍♀️I never thought that was a crazy price because everywhere else has it for around the same (once you convert to Canadian from USD and add shipping) the last few months (had looked into getting it back in May/June) but I didn’t realize that was exceptionally more expensive than it could have been before. I actually just destashed my mini of the True Cream Aqua Bomb without trying it out so I don't know if the texture is exactly right but my mom uses this Hada Labo Cream and it's a slightly sticky/gel-like cream with a really plumping effect. I think it's definitely a cream texture but not as traditionally creamy as like a Cerave cream, so maybe it fits the bill. I think the Rosette is much too heavy/not as hydrating for this application, however I have to say I didn't like the Rosette or see miracles with it like everyone else did so it may just be bias.

Oh, well do you think it's okay to use for now until I can pick up something better, like this one?

Hey,

I'm pretty new to AB (and skincare in general), and I've doing the generic 1st 2nd cleanser into toner + moisturizer for a month or two now, and I'm thinking of adding BHAs and AHAs into my routine.

I just wanted to ask how often should I use BHA and AHA.
Can I use them together?

I was thinking I should alternate days between them.

After toning and putting on the AHA/BHA, I read that I should wait 20-30 minutes before putting on moisturizer. Is that true?

This is my current routine.

I just purchased the Corsx BHA Blackhead Powder Liquid.

Does anyone have a good recommendation for an AHA product? Is the Mizon 8% Peeling Serum any good?

Oh, and I have this lying around the house. Is this a BHA product?

edit: Also, I also read that the Corsx BHA Blackhead Powder Liquid had higher than expected pH levels. Do I need to be worried about that, or has it been fixed?

I've got oily skin that is prone to breakouts. After trying all kinds of different products, I always come back to using Cetaphil cleanser, Cetaphil daily moisturizer (I do NOT have a sensitivity to PARSOL, so it works for me....but people who have a sensitivity for that sunscreen should STAY AWAY!), and Komenuka Bijin night cream. They are non-comedogenic, fragrance and dye-free, and cheap. Doesn't cause my sebaceous glands to freak out and gets the job done.

One thing I did add to my skincare routine that has helped TREMENDOUSLY is that I have been using 10% Glycolic AHA every morning and evening after I wash my face and before I apply moisturizer/night cream. It's marketed for wrinkle reduction and prevention, but it is also a godsend for anyone who has acne-prone skin. Turns out it's caused by skin cells not sloughing off the lining of your pores very efficiently so the pores get clogged up and BAM, tiny pimples. Adding this stuff to my routine had 100% solved that problem. I have no idea how it would work on someone without oily skin, though.

After years of jumping from product line to product line and not being completely satisfied with anything, I think I have realized that keeping it simple is the best thing for me. I'd suggest starting simple with your routine and then adding things to see if they work. Try something cheaper before you try more expensive...if it works for you, why waste the money on something more expensive?

To warn you, and others, there are some western items I use.

What I use is Mario Badescu Cleansing Milk with Carnation & Rice Oil to remove my makeup. I use the Yes To Grapefruit Rejuvenating Facial Wipes to remove that (you can use a wet cloth). Then I use a foaming cleanser (which I'm in need of finding a better one).

Once done with that I use 40 carrots vitamin serum (it's a Vitamin C serum). Sometimes when I'm lazy I use [Alpha Hydrox Retinol] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BW4ZB74/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_mul0xb88ED1WF) instead.

I then get lost on Reddit or watching Netflix. So at least a half hour goes by before I remember to do the rest of my routine.

I pump Kikumasamune Sake high moisture lotion into my hands and smooth it around my face. Then I apply Tony Moly Pure Eco Snail Moisture Gel (it has alcohol in it but my skin doesn't mind it). Then I use Farm Stay AIO Honey Ampoule (a drop or two). I'd advise you to get a different AIO (Scinic or the likes). As I find it a useless step at the moment.

Next I use Mizon Collagen Power Lifting cream all over my face followed by the Mizon Collagen Power Firming eye cream. Then I get lost in Reddit or Netflix again.

I then use The Face Shop Arsainte Eco-Therapy Moisturizer and follow up with Holika Holika Skin and Good Cera Ultra Emulsion.

My final "sealing it all in" step is about a large pea size of Imselene Bird's Nest Aqua Sleeping Mask Pack (it's cheaper on eBay).

For masking I use these from Amazon (my husband and I have easily gone through 50 of them) and the Petitfee black pearl and gold hydrogel patches.

For sunscreen during the day I use Rohto Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture Gel Suncreen (140g).

Note: I don't get everything from Amazon. I also check eBay to see where the prices are the cheapest. Those were just links to show the exact product I use. Everything I do use I try to keep around $15USD or less (that's including shipping).

I have quite oily skin and often get red inflamed spots and some puss filled pimples on my forehead and cheeks. My skin is also mildly sensitive to very harsh products.

I have been using these products as my skincare routine for about 6-7 months:

u/cushionbean · 1 pointr/SkincareAddictionUK

There isn't really much out there that is like an everyday body lotion with SPF. I read about the Aveeno Daily Moisturiser with SPF30 from somewhere on reddit and I think it fits what you're looking for. Think it's an American product though as I couldn't find it in Boots or any UK online shop. But the amazon link above is about £13, which I think is quite pricey for a moisturiser but I don't know, could be ideal for you.

u/charbar · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

Thanks so much for answering! The new cream would be instanaturals. It says the form of retinol is Vitamin A? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Q5ERAWQ/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_9QcNwbFYGDVEV I can't figure out what form of Vitamin C it is.

u/ImaginaryScientist · 1 pointr/AsianBeauty

I would recommend the Good Cera line or another moisture barrier repair cream like Every Lipid. Work on restoring the health of your skin before you try to add anything too harsh like acids or Vitamin C, you may be too sensitive for these right now.

Varies during season and face vs body.

Face

During Summer: Simple Light moisturizer. Don't need as much since it's warmer/more humid.

During Winter: Simple Rich moisturizer . It gets dry in the winter so the richer moisturizer is good.

Body

Summer: Jergens Shea Butter. Don't need a much since it's not as dry.

Winter: Jergens ultra healing Chicago gets dry as fuck so this works great.

For your face I'd definitely suggest the simple light moisturizer. It doesn't really leave any greasy feeling.

I have acne scars and hyper pigmentation

I've been using a list of products, however they don't work well and I am not really noticing a difference.

Here are the products I am currently using. I use these almost everyday. (SHOULD I BE USING THEM EVERYDAY??!)

Cleanser: Hadalabo Japan Gokujyun Hyaluronic Acid Moisture Bubble Foaming Cleanser

Toner: Paula's Choice Skin Recovery Calming Toner

Serum: Dr. Jart + Cicapair Tiger Grass Serum

Moisturizer: Aveeno Daily face moisturizer

Here are products I use twice a week.

Kojie San Lightening Soap

Exfoliant: NeedCrystals Microdermabrasion

I use these masks maybe once every two weeks.

Aliceva Blackhead Remover Mask, Black Mask, Charcoal Peel Off Mask

Elizavecca milkypiggy Hell-Pore Clean Up nose Mask, liquid type nose pack

This is my face. I have oily skin even if I cleanse and moisturize.

I'm only using a serum for my skin care routine. It's been good for me leaving my face dewey, tight and plump. SCINIC Snail All in One Ampoule

Once before I go to sleep after I shower and again in the morning before I head out.

u/biketourthrowaway · 4 pointsr/AskMen

I recommend Cetaphil Cleanser and Cetaphil Facial Moisturizer.

They are both gentle products, and the moisturizer has a small SPF which is great. If you have oily skin, they also have the same products but geared towards greasy skin (I use these). Wash and moisturize in the morning and at at night.

u/RJ1337 · 9 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Simple Hydrating Light Moisturizer might be a good for for you. It contains glycerin which will really hydrate your skin and it definitely has a less "creamy" texture than Cerave PM.

u/phantasmagoria4 · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I'm looking for recommendations for a cheaper alternative to Avene Tolerance Extreme Emulsion that is also FA safe and not too heavy since I also struggle with Perioral Dermatitis and it can be triggered by heavy moisturizers. Thank you!

u/corruptcake · 1 pointr/PaleMUA

I highly highly recommend trying Rosehip Oil. I have super pale, dry skin that I never knew what to do with, especially in the winter, until I tried this stuff. I put it on before applying makeup, I mix a tiny drop in with my foundation, and I put some on my face before bed. I've gotten a little addicted because my face finally feels normal!

I am a 21M with oily skin with a couple of skin problems (mainly due to stupid shit I did in the teen and of course genetics). My current routine is below -

This cleanser:

This exfoliator:

And this moisturizer

what's your budget anyways?

Basically get a good cleanser, and a moisturizer that would be enough if you're going cheaper, otherwise visit /r/SkincareAddiction

I am using the insta natural Retinol moisturizer, its in an airless bottle: http://www.amazon.co.uk/InstaNatural-Retinol-Cream-2-5%25-Moisturizer/dp/B00Q5ERAWQ/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1453388703&sr=8-6&keywords=2.5%25+retinol
But honestly i dont think this is real retinol, i'm a beginner and have no poblems or side effects.

u/savage_in_a_sundress · 3 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I'm not a fan, but the Garnier SkinActive Gel is made for this purpose - a silicone heavy, semi-matte occlusive. Same with the Clean and Clear Morning Burst and Neutrogena Hydro Boost.

u/brandononrails · 2 pointsr/everymanshouldknow

I use this every morning and night in the shower with Cerave cleanser.

Twice per week I use AHA renewing cream (10% concentration of Lactic Acid. Got the recommendation from /r/SkincareAddiction's wiki for my skin type).

After every wash, and sometimes during the day (especially during bad days) I use Cetaphil moisturizer with SPF15.

I still have bad days but this routine has given me the best results so far. SD sucks (not that I have to tell you of course). If it ever gets worse, I'll try adding an anti-fungal cream as well.

A quick note about how I use the ProX brush at it's highest speed, which isn't all that fast anyway. The brush is extremely soft, I even use it dry to get rid of flakes if I'm at home.

u/fluffy-ears · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

Hey, I was recommended this moisturiser, which one is it? There's a blue one, a pink one and a tube one!? [Guess this one? ] ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/Garnier-Moisture-Rescue-Refreshing-Gel-Cream/dp/B00ALB397Y)

u/boywbrownhare · 2 pointsr/Rateme

also, try only washing your face with warm water. dry immediately and apply this lotion. (it should be cheaper at a store, if you can find it. like $11 but it lasts months.)

u/heytherejesus · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

I use this stuff. A little bit after I get out of the shower and shave.

u/PPvsFC_ · 2 pointsr/tretinoin

Here is is!

I do micellar water to cleanse in the evening. Then: Peter Thomas Roth un-wrinkle turbo peptide lotion, Cosrx hyaluronic acid, Mizon AIO snail, Stratia Liquid Gold. Wait 20min then apply 0.02% tret and azealic acid. Then the Cosrx Balancium I'm talking about above and an occlusive.

  • I was naive enough to buy the 50SPF sunscreen of CeraVe. I look like a ghost, how can I use it so it fades a bit? I don't just want to toss it :( Also I tried applying CeraVe on the tub after and it smudges, gets taken off in little rolls. Applying makeup over it is a pain.
Do I need a primer? Suggestions appreciated!

  • BP(2.5%) or AHA+ from Acne.org??
It's mainly for my back as I have some breakouts and I wanted to start tackling them. I'm in doubt since I've read that BP bleaches clothes and I wanted something I could use liberally without worries.

Also, I am using some BP10% on my face for spot treatment, I supposed the acne.org would be less flaking since it's 2.5% and thought maybe I could apply this on my face liberally too?

Suggestions on cheaper or better would be gladly appreciated as well as reviews!

  • My eternal problem with the eye area. It's dry-ish and very sensitive to anything I put on it. I get dry, burning eyes when I apply normal moisturizer somewhat close. I seriously need something that hydrates it, and was also wondering if SPF was needed there. I haven't seen anything concerning the need for spf. Whaddya say?

  • Was wondering if any of you had anything to say about the CeraVe AM lotion with SPF30. I tried applying sunscreen, then moisturizer, then some liquid concealer,(waiting around 5-7 mins between each application) and I noticed the creams start smudging and some little rolls of cream/moisturizer come off. what kind of cheap face moisturizer do you use to avoid this?
I use this aveeno cream. I've used this because it's faster and don't have to wait a whole lot to apply the bit of makeup I use. I've read here you guys don't trust much in the moisturize+SPF combos. What do you have to say about this one? Yeh or nay?
u/Mhayumi · 19 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I have combination skin.

I wash my face with Cetaphil Cleanser in the morning and then I put Shiseido Matifying Moisturizer, after that I put Biore Sunscreen (I'm still new to this product, I've been trying out alot of sunscreen products because my skin has been overly sensitive and for some reason I might be allergic to sunscreen lotion T_T), before this I just use Skin79 BB Cream and an umbrella whenever I go out, after the bb cream I put on shiseido foundation and then mascara and lip gloss.

For night: I use Neutrogena make up remover wipes, and then Pond's Cleanser, Thayer's Witch Hazel Toner and then Neutrogena Moisturizer And then Shiseido Eye Cream.

I also use Pierre Cardin Peeling Gel maybe 3 times a week after cleansing my face and then I put on Neutrogena Moisturizer, Shiseido Eyecream and then finish it with a Collagen Essense Mask.
