I have a microwave at my office space rental, but I'm on the road a lot with my job, so I've looked into many different solutions. There are a variety of options available.

Non-electronic storage:

It's not so deep that I can't get a spoon in. It'd be nice if it were a little wider, but it does the job. A bit smaller than your Thermos at 17 ounces. Pinnacle Thermoware sells insulated a pretty nice insulated bowl set, if you specifically want a bowl shape:

Electronic storage:

Beyond that, there are 3 common electronic options, depending on what power you have available: (12V in a car or an A/C wall plug)

1. Crockpot Lunch Crock (A/C power)
   
2. RoadPro 300F lunchbox oven (12V car power)
   
3. HotLogic lunchbox oven (A/C power, car-compatible A/C, or 75w+ inverter for car power)
   
   The Crockpot unit is basically like your Thermos, except you plug it in to heat it, and it has a pretty nice wide bowl size. My buddy has one & it's pretty dang handy! My brother has the RoadPro, as he's on the road all day long, and it's super nice because it does a pretty decent job (heats up to 300F, basically like a mini oven), so you can heat up burritos, melt cheesy stuff like lasagna, etc.
   
   The HotLogic is nice because instead of just being a mini portable crockpot, it's also a mini oven, and can be used from a wall plug, a newer-vehicle 2-prong car plug, or with a 75-watt (minimum) inverter. There's a good Facebook group available as well! It heats up to 218F & then holds the food at 180F, so it's more for reheating food than cooking food, like the RoadPro can do (HotLogic says you can cook chicken breast in it in about 2 hours, but ehhh...), but it's also a bit more versatile as you can plug it directly into the wall an hour before lunch & have your food ready to go without needing a microwave or toaster oven.

  I tend to make soup about once a week in my Instant Pot at home, then freeze it in my Souper Cube containers, and keep a stash of different varieties in my freezer so I can just grab one & go. When you have a solid storage system setup (electronic or non-electronic), it makes the whole process pretty dang easy:
  
  

1. Store a variety of soup flavors at home (Souper Cubes or canned soup)
   
2. Heat it up in the vented mug if you need it hot before you leave
   
3. Put it into your container of choice
   
4. Heat up your container (if needed) & enjoy!
   
   For me, it's really about nailing down a solid process & taking care of all of the little annoying details. Like you said, the tall insulated mugs are too small to get a spoon into & eat out of, so you have to find something better that meets the needs of your individual situation better. Then, setting up a system to support convenience means you can always have a variety of soups to grab before you leave the house, whether it's a can that you heat up in a vented mug & store in a food thermos or a frozen Souper Cube that you toss in a Crockpot Lunch Crock & plug in before lunch!

I started messing around with weed around the same age, so I'm not gonna just say "you're too young" or any of that shit. You'll still do it anyways, and I'd rather you were smart about it.

First, I would highly suggest finding someone who has experience with weed to be with you when you do weed. I'll give you all the advice I know, but it's still better to have an experienced person on hand. Maybe the person that made the cookies?

Second, be careful with edibles, and very careful with edibles when you don't know the concentration. It's really easy to take too much, more so when you've just started. I'd personally suggest you smoke instead of doing edibles, as you can feel the effects much faster, and better gauge how much to use. That being said, smoking isn't the most pleasant thing when you start, and you either need some sort of piece, or you need to be able to roll.

Third, the fun stuff: always have food on hand. Snack food and candy is wonderful, but actual food is also amazing. Really everything is. If you plan on smoking, I'd suggest having something to drink as well, such as Gatorade. Music is great, and you'll find that bass heavy music is really cool. Dubstep was really created for stoners, but I'd suggest Drum and Bass. Honestly, the type of music you choose really sets the tone of your high. Try something like Chillstep if you just want to relax. Just make sure not to play it too loud, headphones might be a good idea d-_-b. Another great thing to do: shower. Go take a really long, hot shower. It's great. Oh, and smoke with friends. It makes things so much more fun, and then you can play Mario Kart or something.

Oh, and if you plan on keeping weed in your house, and don't want people to know, invest in a vacuum seal container, like this one. The smell will go straight through any number of plastic bags. That being said, a mason jar works just as well.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Just remember: be mindful of how much you take, have food, and make sure you don't have anything you need to do before you get high. Also, if you have any other questions, I'd suggest making a post on r/weed. They're pretty friendly, and the community is larger than this subreddit, so more people will be able to help you out. r/trees is another good one, but they have an 18+ rule, so don't mention your age.

This book is about the song Hallelujah (which is a beautiful song) and how it became to be one of the most recorded songs in history. It was originally kind of a failure but somehow made it to the place where it is today where it has been performed by hundreds of musicians. I find it amazing that this song that almost didn't make it onto the album it was originally written for. When it did make it to the album it was a flop, yet here we are listening to this song that has become so popular.

   Come up with a nice long list of questions and solutions. The idea provide quick/succinct computer advice.

Yeah I will have to research more on proper head retention. I figured the oats would cause the head retention problem so I added carapils to *cross my fingers help said retention. I may bump up the amount of chocolate, but it's just not a main focus in this beer, however at least 1/4# seems like a good amount.

Love local coffee! I would get something newer though. I think it would still be drinkable but the problem with freezing coffee is that two things coffee beans don't like is oxidation and moisture. As soon as that sucker comes out of the freezer and thaws it will not extract the flavors quite as well as fresh coffee. It will be sour and not have good body. Much depends on other factors, but the coffee may taste stale even after being in the freezer. Coffee only really lasts two weeks.

I am starting to roast my own with an air-popper and get the beans from http://www.sweetmarias.com/index.php flipping fantastic site for this. Otherwise, I would buy local dark roasted beans and store whole beans in something called an airscape (http://www.amazon.com/Planetary-Design-Airscape-64oz-Mocha/dp/B00167TT94/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1323891815&sr=8-1) which is the only and best way to store coffee. I do have a bag of cheaper stuff I keep sealed tight in the freezer for those emergency mornings when I'm out of the good stuff! Dark roast blends would be the way to go for brews. Don't just stick ground coffee into the thing unless it isn't a main focus. Wish you luck on your next brew! :)

Edit: I know my coffee but I'm a newb in the brewmaking world so I have a lot to learn when incorporating it.

I store my beans in an Airscape and really like it. Keeps the beans fresh, protected from air, temperature, light, and moisture, looks good, and I think it's reasonably priced. I would assume that it does a similar job of storing ground coffee, but I just don't really see the point.

Once you grind the coffee, it begins to go stale much quicker than it does in whole bean form. I totally understand your desire to not wake up your girlfriend by grinding each morning, but grinding the night before is going to drastically reduce the quality of your morning brews, regardless of what you store it in. I would suggest a hand grinder like the skerton or LIDO for grinding fresh each morning without making noise. Actually, the skerton comes out to roughly the same price as the container, so if you already have some way of storing beans (really anything works as long as you're putting it in something airtight and in a dark place), I think buying a hand grinder is the better solution.

I’m not sure if I’ll have time for a coffee ritual before work (though I just ordered a much nicer hand grinder to replace a javapresse, if the times are really under a minute I’ll probably make a cup with my aeropress/half of my French press), but I drink 3-4 cups a day in the weekend so I also take a month or so to go through my beans.

Would it be better to return this and store them in the freezer? As an addendum, I just ordered a sampler from Heart. Should I be freezing the other three bags until I’m about ready to open them? I’m not sure if I’ll clear two pounds in a month yet.

What you've linked is the re-branded version of a Zojurishi product. There are actually several different models available. I have this one (right now, Amazon says its $339.79. That's not normal as it's discontinued (I paid $44) and a new model is out for about $45. Anyhow... These kits are awesome but from your description, I don't think this is what you are looking for. Besides, only the bottom container is watertight. The others are not. I can give you a more detailed explanation about it if you want. If you want something for soup or wet foods...

Get this: Zojirushi SW-FBE75XA Stainless Steel Lunch Jar, 25-Ounce, Stainless. I have one of these, also. This thing kicks ass. It's basically a large-mouth "thermos". Way easier to clean than the above. 25oz of soup (or corned beef and cabbage if you took advantage of the post-holiday sales) is PLENTY of food for lunch for me.

For your situation, I've done exactly that: made soup the night before and had it for lunch the next morning... It worked exactly as planned, still hot at lunchtime.

At my old office my typical daily regimen for this thing was to fill it with hot water from the coffee machine's hot water tap 1st hing in the morning. I'd use this to make tea at my desk for the rest of the day. This saved me from having to run back to the break room for more hot water. If I didn't make tea that day, I'd just refill it with hot water the next morning. The water would still be warm 24hrs later. 8-10 hrs after filling, it'd still be hot enough to easily burn your mouth on if you drank it straight from the jar.

OP: I use them to propagate too. Get some good succulent soil and fill it most of the way. Works fine as long as you don’t overwater. I’ve def overwatered and lost a few, and they can’t live in there indefinitely but they’ve worked out really well for me. They make it easy to give them to friends as cute little gifts. Good luck!

On the go? That's an interesting question. There are plenty of thermoses with infusers inside (example), but it's easy to oversteep. You could get one with a small infuser on top (example) and just discard a bit of water to isolate the leaves when you're done with that round of steeping. Or you could finish steeping and remove the infuser, but then you'd need somewhere to store it. A "travel infuser" (example) could work with any thermos, but the 2 separate pieces are annoying. A 2-compartment thermos (example) seems like the best solution.

Put tea in an infuser. Put it in the hot compartment. Add hot water. After steeping, move the infuser to the other compartment. Drink hot tea at your leisure. Move the infuser back and add more water when you're done.

The example I gave is flawed since it's hard to drink out of. I've seen better designs, like the Qore and Golchi, but these were both essentially Kickstarter scams. I also found this double-sided thermos but it looks like it's for bulk orders and the Amazon listing isn't available.

If you can find a thermos with an extra compartment to store an infuser, that seems like your best bet.

I don't know if it will be big enough for you, but I'm a huge fan of SnapWare products. Made in USA, BPA Free, Air and Water Tight. We found them after my wife was tired of water leaking into Tupperware containers in the cooler while camping. It sounds like you'd need a few, but they have quite a few sizes and they stand by their guarantee. I've had them send me a few lids that a hinge has busted off (from regular heavy food related use not humidor use). Nice product

I dont really vacuum seal per se like I would for freezing items but this works pretty well. This was before Fellow came out with their vacuum storage system which looks awesome. Air scape is cheap and has a very solid construction and one way valve system has help up for around 3 years no problem. It's not as effective as the Atmos would be in theory but it's more effective than re-sealing the bag.

Honestly depends on priority: time/laziness vs coffee quality.

• Quality: get the Hario Skerton and grind it before you make it.
  
  
• Time / laziness: Getting the local roaster to grind your coffee will give you a better grind, BUT it will go stale over time. Since you're still developing your palate / just upgraded from grocery store (which is all stale), this should be fine for now. I suggest an air tight canister, like this. It won't stop it from going stale, but it'll slow it down. You'll notice the first cups will taste better than the last, but the last cups will still be better than what you were getting from the grocery store. This is how I do. #coffeesnobposer
  
  Edit: If you get the airtight canister, every time you open it, the grinds are exposed to air = goes stale faster. So you'll want to put a couple days to a week's worth in a separate container. Then you're only opening the large canister once or twice a week, vs. every day.

US coffee roasting competition finalist here. no need to let degas that long. You will great great sweetness, and tactiles an hour after roasting. If you brew immediately, you will get a great cup, but flavors will not open up yet.

Hey all, I opted for a 12 cup stove top percolator and a Handground Percision Hand Grinder. I grind coffee every 2-3 days and store in an airtight container. Hopefully this gets gives me the convenience factor of being able to make a lot of coffee, fast, and the quality factor of being able to bring whole beans, kept in the freezer and ground at the most, a day or 2 prior to drinking. Not ideal for maximizing taste, but I feel like a resonable balance of ease and taste.

I hope I made the right decision as I was seriously considering French Press, but the limiting factors were the size of the units (too small) and the need to purchase a serving pitcher (as leaving grounds would over steep). Really liked the Espro French Press but sadly the largest vessel was 32oz.

I take home made soups and chili with me in a Thermos. I always pre-heat the Thermos with hot water and heat the food up a little hotter than normal and it works great.

Reusable ice packs and an insulated lunch bag let me take things like salads, prepared tuna, cottage cheese and chicken. These are things I would prep and refrigerate the night before so everything was already cold and ready to go.

It helps to always have a set of plastic cutlery, plenty of napkins and wet wipes in the car.

Where do you buy your green beans from? I know Sweet Maria’s has bags with the one way valve in half and full pound size bags. They also offer a container with the valve too. This is assuming you need the beans to still off gas.

this airscape is the best product I've seen for keeping beans fresh. I think after two weeks, it's practically impossible to keep your beans as fresh as you' d like, but I've had good luck with these things. It has a vacuum/ pressure seal.

I bought a package of measuring scoops (as opposed to measuring cups) a while back and robbed the 1/2 cup scoop to use for my Soylent. 2 scoops per serving.

The powder and scoop live in a pop-top cookie jar. I used the large size of that container and it just fits a week of powder (~21 cups). No need to refrigerate until you add water.

Clean looking container of powder and scoop on the counter look a lot more pleasant than bags which made my GF happy. I'm thinking to get a second one so I can keep the chocolate and regular bags of 100%Food out on the counter instead of choosing one to keep in a bag in the cupboard.

I use plastic jars with tops that screw on. I honestly don't recall where I got them, but a 3lb bag of DME fits with a bit of room to spare and it keeps the majority of moisture out. The last little bit of DME tends to kinda get stuck as it has been opened and exposed to moisture several times by that point, but it's the best system I've found for storing DME.

Something like this would do the trick. It's not exactly what I have, but same concept.

I've been using Vacu Vin Containers for years and haven't felt the need to try anything else. These work really well for me and can keep beans "fresh" for weeks.

Prior to the Vacu Vin containers, I was pretty happy with Airscape Containers They have an inner seal/lid that you can slide down right on top of the beans to push most of the air out of the container.

It was made in Autodesk Inventor and I'm not sure if any other 3D CAD program can run it. The overall diameter of the part is slightly bigger than the tube it went in (link to Amazon), so it required some sanding and rolling on a hot skillet to mold it perfectly. Also, it took a while to cut off the base that the printer puts down before it actually prints the part. It took 2 hours to print and about 4 hours of refining afterwards to get it perfect.

I'm lucky to live next door to a great roaster who pro-rates the per-pound prices, so I just buy a week's worth at a time and leave them in the bag.

If you're not as lucky, buy 1-2 weeks worth of beans and store them in something like this.

I roast at home and this has been working pretty well for me so far: freshly roasted beans get put into a mason jar with the lid screwed on loosely to off-gas. After 24ish hours, I move them into my Airscape to store before grinding. The airscape is great because it's a snap to clean, and doesn't retain any coffee flavors or smells after a quick wipe.

I use an Airscape. Probably the best solution if you only have one type of bean at a time. It uses a one way valve you can open and close to keep them fresh for much longer than usual.

The biggest "threat" to coffee is oxygen. The better you can prevent oxygen from getting in contact with it the longer it will last. A nice option that I use at home is the Airscape canister. These are really great, they keep food warm for hours. Just make sure to let it stand with boiling water first, spill it out, and then fill with food. I think they have 2-3 more sizes.

if you pour boiling water in it and spill it out, then heat your food and then put it in this it stays warm for hours. theres bigger sizes too.

also most campuses have a microwave in cafeteria, I trust to carry my food around for 3 hours in my bag and then heat it up. especially if you have cooler blocks then it will stay fresh for longer. I didnt realize my cafeteria had microwaves until I graduated lol, so check around.

In the future, you might not want to store your beans in the hopper. Light and oxygen cause the tasty flavor compounds in your coffee to break down. You'll be better served by keeping your beans in something airtight, like opaque tupperware or a specialized container like this.

I don't know about two months, but you'll need something like this. If you buy the beans green, they will definitely last longer than two months and you can roast them yourself.

I like the Snapware 40 cup containers. They hold two spools easily, have handles, stack nicely. Also hold an ~8 pound bag of prescription pet food, flour in the pantry, etc.

I second the call for an aero press. Grab one, a coffee grinder, and a storage container (mason jars work fine too) for your locker or safe location.

After the initial investment (less than two weeks of your 5$ a day), this plus hot water gets you coffee at pennies a cup. The container keeps your beans fresh, and you only grind what you need every time.

The easiest way is to buy one of these to scoop your powder out of.

This way, you can easily pour two bags into it without spilling it all over.

Now, set your scale to zero (tare out) the weight of your blender bottle with spring and a little bit of water in it. Now when you scoop powder into the blender bottle, it will just tell you the weight of the powder.

If you like a wider shape, I have taken to using pyrex dishes over mugs for "mug" cakes and breads. Instead of getting a narrow tube, you'll get a lower, flatter product. Better for things like this.

The ones I have are the bento containers (Mr. Bento and Classic Bento). I also have this container here which will hold 25 oz. I like both, but enjoy my bento vacuum containers the most.

What isn't obvious from some pictures is the plunger you push down to bean level, pushing out excess air. The clear lid has a valve to allow CO2 to vent.

Never bothered. I have a few jars from Taiwan with one way gas valves for fermented food. I never could tell the difference between them, my Evak jars, and using these lids. But if the beans are roasted a few days before you receive them the beans will still be good in two weeks. Some would say roasted beans achieve peak flavor 2-3 weeks after they are roasted.

Mason jars are great but as you said for an illegal state I would use this because it can hold a lot, it's actually airtight, and it's not stupid obvious.
