At first it was easier, I had some ideas or drew something that happened that day, or fanart or when I'm lazy I just did studies from photos for practice. It was more time consuming also, but now it takes less time as I gained momentum I guess ) I would definitely recommend it - It makes you think and practice everyday, just have fun and don't stress over it, it's just for you, not for an art gallery =) Also keep in mind - you have all day to think about what you want to draw and spent just 30 minutes on a drawing itself, so it's not so time-consuming. I really hope that makes sense, hehe.

First, CONGRATS (on coming out trans, engagement, getting married.. EVERYTHING)!

My mother-in-law to be got us this wonderful book on planning a Gay wedding, which has been very helpful.

I think in this day and age, anything goes! If you want to be up front and have your finance' walk down the aisle to you, then do it!

We are going to both walking down the aisle holding hands--together. Then we are sitting down in front of our family and friends. Our parents aren't escorting or giving anyone away. Our besties are going to be up front already sitting on each side of us.

Our ceremony is going to be simple and engage the participants (20 or so) to offer blessings, advice or just be there in silent support. Then we are reading our marriage covenant (mission so to speak). We will sign it with thumbprints crossing over one another like a heart and all the participants will add their thumbprints as a symbol of support.

And then we are done and on to pancakes!

First of all, CONGRATS! Relish the fun of being newly engaged and get ready for everyone to expect for you to already have a date, location, dress and everything else all picked out. ;)

I avoided the Knot due to feedback from friends that it was not really helpful and more spammy. I did not want to hire a wedding planner, but felt pretty lost and clueless from the beginning, so I bought this wedding planner binder off Amazon. It's cute and not PINK OVERLOAD EVERYWHERE!!1, and has lots of helpful tip sheets and planning resources inside. I really like how the calendars are full page and there is space to add things into the to-do lists and calendars based on your schedule and needs (which is especially helpful if you're doing DIY stuff). Plus, the budgeting tips were massively helpful since I had no idea how much things actually cost.

Also helpful for wedding budgeting is Martha Stewart's guide to regional average costs. I live in the DC area, where things are incredibly expensive, and would get sticker shock since I originally based my budget off national averages.

My son and I are avid adventurists! I take pictures on our outings but I found a camping log book that you can use to journal your trips! I really love this idea because time goes so fast and it’s easy to forget the great experiences!

Our wedding is coming up, but I've been way ahead of the game thinking about what to get for next year. I won a free boudoir shoot last summer, and intended to give him a couple of the prints on our first anniversary. But then I got them back and couldn't wait to show him! So now I have a few ideas:

• Filling out the book 642 Things About You (That I Love) or something similar. I've seen a couple of similar books.
  
• Painting a watercolor to go with the bulbasaur I made him this past Valentine's Day.
  
• This scratch off map, since we plan on travelling on our anniversary every year! I think this one is my favorite.

I write title, date read and then a check mark (because sometimes I add books I haven't read yet). I start a new page for each year and wow, I just realized I'm on year 5.

I also keep track of my books on librarything because I like seeing all the covers in a row. I like it better than goodreads because it is way less cluttered and there's less interaction with the site apart from ratings and reviews.

the "one line" thing is just what it's called, but they give you a couple lines. I've been able to fit 2-3 short sentences, and more on the days where I've written in the margins. It's just the idea of a very tiny space to fit one or two thoughts. They sell them all over, but this is one from amazon that shows pictures of the inside to give you a better idea.

I'm not who you asked and I don't comment here normally, but I bought my mom this book: https://amzn.com/1450836003 and asked her to go through and pick out the questions/topics that interest her and fill them out for me to have when she's gone. Hopefully I'll have some of her favorite memories in her handwriting to look at years from now.

Last year I got my mom this There are a few different versions/covers. My mom is a hoarder so she hasn't used it, probably lost it actually.


Usually I'd get her the perfume she loves but it's so repetitive. You could find a small basket at a thrift store, get her some cozy furry socks, bath salts, her favorite candy, a blu ray or make her dinner.



This year my sisters and I are taking my mom to her first child's grave (she hasn't been in years because it's hours away now), lunch and to a pottery place to paint some stuff and lighten the mood of the day. She'll be spending it with her second grandchild too...IF SHE EVER GETS HERE. She was due yesterday and I'm impatient.



Anyway, the best suggestion I have is to take her somewhere, spend the day with her. Get your nails done, hair, shop, go see a fun movie, go on a little day trip!

I love it. I do/did it in class all of the time.

Haha, yeah, it is. It's actually a journal, my gf bought it for me, I believe at urban outfitters. It's pretty fun to go back through and reminicse. here it is on amazon

I have the first installment of this book and I love it! Writing prompts are a lot of fun and I may incorporate some of them into NaNoWriMo this year if I decide to participate again. I have a copy of this book in my default wish list.

I bought this around valentine's day and I am chugging away at it little by little to give to FH the night before the wedding. Some of the prompts are really cute and it's really great with ideas if you're stumped.

I like this one, which my mom got me, but I've personalized it a lot too. The great thing about a binder is you can always add things of your own, and take out things you don't want!

If you are willing to spend money $13 on amazon, this book is a good choice. You fill out memories and stories about your mother. If you didnt wan't to purchase the book, it would be really easy to make your own in the form of a scrapbook or journal.

I have OCPD so my anxiety and lists are all related to that, BUT I have used these books before and they are a fun distraction- TV is never enough to really keep my brain quiet so i need something else to do alongside.

Ah! My 9 year old niece loves reading but she also likes writing her own stories. What about a nice notepad and pen set. Or there are lots of activity books which a bit more grown up for kids. I know you said you didn't really want to get him a book. But these are a little different.
