Roving Cove Safe Rail - 10ft x 3ft - INDOOR Balcony and Stairway Safety Net - PEARL color - Banister Stair Net - Child Safety; Pet Safety; Toy Safety; Stairs Protector https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AER7I7G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_2cf0xbM3VS6K2

Honestly, I just used this to wrap my mini crib. My 15 month old was to much of a genus getting in between the slats. So far this is perfect. It works for me.

u/spawnofgeek · 2 pointsr/beyondthebump

We ended up cosleeping - it was so much better for me, because shoving a boob in Bub's face at 2 AM was waaayyy easier than going to get her. To be safe, we got a bedrail (https://www.amazon.com/Regalo-Swing-Extra-Bedrail-White/dp/B005EHNL3M/ref=sr_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1499380630&sr=8-4&keywords=bed+rail) so that she wouldn't roll off, or get squished, and we slept with me in the middle facing her. We've recently switched to putting her crib against our bed like in that picture, which has been great - Bub can still get to me, but often sleeps in her area. I'm hoping it will make the transition to sleeping alone easier too, when we're ready.

We have a bed rail like this that we usually bring (ours comes apart into reasonably small pieces, not sure about this exact one), and I just sleep with our baby in between me and the rail, works out pretty well as long as you’re aware if they are moving around or try to crawl to the bottom of the bed!

You can use an oversized shim on the base molding so that you can screw a mount to it.

We used something like this:
Summer Infant Retractable Gate https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TI62Z9Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_hQKgzbWASQT5S

And it's been great. Plus it gives a little slack for mounting

A crib is going to be next to impossible to get right and still be able to take down when company visits. Your best bet is going to be something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KPZBJRT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_rJTRCb65RAFHA

A changing table is going to be more doable if either of you are crafty. A long, low dresser would be the foundation, and then you could use foam and fabric store vinyl to make a cushioned topper for it that you could remove as needed.

Something like this? They don’t attach to the header or footer, though

My son was a climber at an early age too. We put him in a toddler bed and used something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/hiccapop-Convertible-Toddler-Reinforced-Anchor/dp/B01NCUDQAJ/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=toddler+bed+rail&qid=1571678868&sr=8-4

We also baby gated his room to avoid him coming out at night. It took a while to get him to stay in bed but a solid bedtime routine and lots of late nights. Most nights he would get out of bed and play and then fall asleep on the floor. We put a camera in his room to monitor him and would put him back in bed after he'd fall asleep. We started this process at about 18 months too and I think he finally figured it out by 2.5 or 3

Kiddo was sleeping in a pack n play. We were planning on waiting until she was 2, but suddenly at 19 months her sleep went to shit. She's always been a very good sleeper. I try not to talk about it too much for fear other parents will kill us with their murderous "that must be nice" or "wonder what that's like" looks. She just suddenly started sleeping like a newborn.

After about 3 weeks of trying the everything we got a big kid bed. We got the Kura bed from Ikea and bought a side rail from amazon. For the first few days she kinda resisted, but got tons more sleep. Day 2 she slept on the floor all night (lol). After day 3 she went back to sleeping really well.

She does get out of bed. We only leave stuffed animals, a small pillow, and blankets in there. She's definitely my child cause this kid neeeests! she has her favorite stuffed animals and gets them just so. She loves to flop onto them and curl up with her blankets.

Also, this kid is already practicing hiding stuff, I swear. She has some favorite hard toys that she tries to hide on occasion. I found them stuffed in the pocket of a soft book at the bottom of her toy box. She'd been playing with them just an hour before and was very distraut when I found them. I was like "OMG. I found our daughter's stash..."

How old's the baby/kid? Do you need to fully enclose your bed, or just reduce the chance of her rolling off?

Extreme solution to fully enclose your bed (and expensive, as that's the price of only one side).

For a baby, it may be simpler to take off one side of her crib and push it next to your bed.

Bed rail that's reasonably priced and can fit a queen mattress (but not a king). There are gaps for a toddler to climb in and out.

Bed bumper to reduce (but not eliminate) a toddler rolling off. A pool noodle under the bedsheet may also do the trick, but that's more likely to fall down to the side.

Our friends have a staircase very similar to yours. They put the Main part on the banister with zip ties and a small piece of board.

u/altf4life · 5 pointsr/puppy101

ah ok! I figured you still had it.

what about a gate like this then?

the pup might want to chew on it but spraying it with bitter apple should help.

u/corcar86 · 5 pointsr/moderatelygranolamoms

At that age, my husband and I were living with his parents and he slept in a different room than me and our daughter, I would just tuck big pillows under the cover on one side of the bed really tight to create a barrier on one side. She did actually fall off one time only and it was because she had crawled in her sleep to the end of the bed and rolled off that way (thankfully was absolutely fine, just shook up) so I later also started putting extra pillows tucked un at the end of the bed too. You can also buy a bed rail (search amazon there are tons of different kinds even this lol).

I got something like this and I think it's several inches taller than the rails that come with the crib, though I'm not sure because I didn't buy that piece. I got the shortest length one that BRU had and it still nearly went from end to end on the crib.

u/Sadie_for_real · 3 pointsr/IFParents

We did! Toddler moved to a regular sized twin bed without ever converting her crib or doing the toddler bed thing. Same reason as you too: I didn't want to spend the money. She never tried to climb out of the crib but she's crazy tall so it was just getting weird to still have her in there so we moved her in March. We moved her into the bigger room too, so I figured why not do all the changes at once and get it over with. We have this which has worked out really well. Between that, her nightstand, and a long decorative roll pillow at the end of the bed, there's zero chance that she'll fall out.

This is the one we have. It can only be screwed into the wall, however. The ease of allowing our child to open it himself or having the ability to not let him open it has far surpassed the necessity to putty the walls when we are done with it.

u/BabyLB8-o · 5 pointsr/ABDL

Just got an IKEA daybed and an extra long bedrail from Amazon. Can confirm, makes a great crib.

The only thing to note is that you’d need to purchase at least one mattress for the daybed. I got a couple from WayFair that are decent but not great to sleep on every night.

You can get one of those crib rail protector things maybe? My 2 year old is currently in the crib that my now 10 year old chewed all the paint off of, I dont think they had these rail protectors back then though.

u/drew714 · 1 pointr/daddit

We put a little decorative pillow / blanket thing on the rail. So he chewed that instead.
I know that is a crappy description so, here is a link to better describe the product!

Crib rail cover is the name to search!

u/magpi_ · 1 pointr/BabyBumps

Lining the railings and the death trap area underneath the stairs with plastic or mesh might work. I've used it to help my daredevil cat from jumping from the second floor landing over the foyer in my home.

u/thelumpybunny · 2 pointsr/beyondthebump

You have three options: mattress on the floor, bed rails, sleep train.
https://www.amazon.com/KOOLDOO-Toddlers-Safety-Children-Include/dp/B07CWLNP81/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?keywords=childrens+bed+rail+kooldoo&qid=1573034757&sr=8-2

Mattress on the floor is safest. The problem with bed rails is your baby can get stuck between the bed rails and the mattress so it's a safety risk for younger babies. I still bought it anyways but I wanted a little PSA. The other thing is babies aren't allowed in an adult bed alone, so be careful with leaving the room. My daughter can get herself off the bed by herself now but for a while she use to try to crawl off the bed on me

u/hemipenis · 1 pointr/beyondthebump

This is a bedrail. No frame needed, and nothing for limbs to get trapped in.
