Oh good for you on the water! Nice going.

I love this stuff > Magnesium Oil It's inexpensive and works great. Also epsom salts in the bath are another good delivery method. Oral supplements can cause diarrhea. That's counter productive.

Always trust your synchronistic worm holes. LOL Magnesium is the antidote to vasoconstriction. Do let us know if you have resolved your side effects! =]

Edit: Also, Do consider taking a multivitamin.

I have been using this brand: https://www.amazon.com/NOW-Magtein-90-Veg-Capsules/dp/B00JEZQAFG

I use it as it says. 1 capsule at noon and then 2 before bed. I think thats about 2g if the nutritional label is correct.

At first it felt really good, super focused, but now the effect is less noticeable. Nevertheless I prefer to not increase that dosage and simply continue with it for supplementation purposes.

One thing to say its that because I researched about this type of magnesium I now eat more salads and magnesium rich foods. Ha now I feel I'm drugging myself with salads.

Benefits? Super focus, I think I respond easier to questions, take decisions faster.

So, I'm guessing there are a lot of folks with adderall prescriptions here. Adderall has what seems to be an under reported side-effect (under reported because it seems like it keeps coming up on here, but I never seen it listed in the main "side-effects" section of drug sites describing adderall). Anyway, take some magnesium. Adderall decreases absorption of magnesium (and potassium and calcium and iron and zinc and folic acid and chromium), so you aren't getting enough and over time it results in muscle issues including tensing and cramping. Probably wouldn't hurt to take some B12, also, as adderall effects your uptake of that as well.

Important: Do NOT take magnesium oxide, as that can interact with adderall in a bad way.

Anyway, I take a magnesium glycinate and have pretty good results with it. I take one of these an hour or two before bed and it works OK for me, but shop around and get one you like. I also take a multi-vitamin with most of those other things in it, but it was limited in the amount of magnesium it had and I was still grinding my teeth at night. Incidentally, taking potassium helped address the leg cramps I was getting, so that's also a thing.

Edit: It'll probably be 2-4 weeks before you really notice the difference. Worth noting that it helps some people sleep. Also worth noting that it helps reduce the effect in some people where they adapt to their dosage over time and require a larger dose.

u/gtopham · 2 pointsr/ADHD

I know this thread is old, but I take 200 mg of chelated magnesium every night. It really helps me calm down and get sleepy. I have always had trouble sleeping from having so much energy (hyperactivity), and the magnesium tells my body it's time for bed. I always can tell if I forget to take it because it will take longer for me to fall asleep.

I think, too, magnesium's effects are similar to exercise. When I exercise, it helps me sleep really well. My ultimate sleepy routine from a stressful day is a 20 minute, high intensity cardio workout, a hot shower, and 200mg of magnesium with a glass of warm milk.

I don't think magnesium could replace medicine for ADHD because it doesn't help you focus. Yeah, it may calm you down, but it's more like the calmness you get from taking a salt bath. If it helps you get more sleep, though, I could see it as improving in treating ADHD symptoms (everything's better with more sleep).

The only problem I've had with magnesium is that I have to always take it with milk or after eating sometime, otherwise I will get a weird, empty stomach feeling.

Thanks, will certainly look into it further. I am also interested in meditation and will be implementing it when this semester closes out and it makes sense to begin practicing. After doing research over the past 24 hours, I've come up with potential ideas for what I may begin using. If anyone can provide feedback or any notes on any of the following and dosage, it would be appreciated:

  • Bacopa Monnieri - I wasn't sure if it's important to take the extract or the whole herb in capsule form
  • L-Citrulline
  • NAC - I read a recent study suggesting NAC may break down the BBB, but the unhealthy rats used seem faulty
  • KSM-66
  • Chelated Magnesium - I read chelated is the best in this case

Each of these listed are all just ideas, I'm not sure what would be necessary and what wouldn't, just what I've gathered from reading. I have also considered Zembrine and I'm not sure if a dopamine supplement would be necessary for any reason, but if so I've looked at L-Theanine and Dopa Mucuna.

In researching all of this, I've also found multivitamins created specifically for anxiety. Something like this seems it could be promising. Am I better off creating my own stack and taking supplements individually, or would the multivitamin option be something worth considering? Does anyone have any experience?
u/speakhyroglyphically · 2 pointsr/Supplements

I totally feel for you on the "lying in bed" not sleeping. Laying there with bad thought's is not good (I experience this as well). Can't stand it.I I have to get up and read or surf the net. Do whatever exercise you can. Even 2 minutes running in place and a few situps will help over time as far as exercise goes. Owning a bicycle can change your life. I suggest not buying supplement's from walgreens. The brand and type can make a huge difference with supplements. The vitamin shoppe or amazon offer better sources. For immune system take this 2 to 3X per day and Vitamin C (500 mg 2X Day). 400 mg of Magnesium Citrate will make your shit too loose,. Thats why u/Tonaso recommended magnesim GLYCINATE. I prefer this
I dont know enough about the other supplements besides 5HTP and I dont recommend taking 5HTP for more than 2 weeks striaght and even then only take 50 mg of a good brand (NOW). Over time It can make your body think it already has enough seretonin and cause it to lower the natural output. I prefer L-tryptophan to increase serotonin. I take this about 1 hour before bed and it has helped me sleep. Melatonin 1 mg is pretty harmless and I would stick with it. L-theanine is said to be a good thing for daytime anxiety, Sam-E made me nervous. IMO. Please dont take a benzodiazepine like valium or xanax . Honestly, These drugs are the most addicting thing on the planet. NOT EXAGERRATING.

Checkout this listing of various types: http://fixyourgut.com/magnesium-most-overlooked-mineral-for-improving-health-2/

  • magnesium oxide (worst) -> Not very bioavailable, laxitive
  • magnesium citrate (ok) -> Good bioavailablity, laxitive
  • magnesium glycinate (better) -> Good bioavailablity, not laxitive
  • magnesium taurate (best IMHO) -> Good bioavailablity, not laxitive, best at deilvary to cardiac tissue, also supplies a large does of taurine

Its worth pointing out low Magnesium doesn't usually show up on a blood (serum) test as the cells in your body will buffer your blood Magnesium (unless you are deathly deficient). The only way to really know is a oral magnesium tolerance test where the patient is given (usually IV magnesium) until they start expressing normal amounts of it in their urine.

Rather than try to find someone who is willing and able to give the test, I would recommend just taking magnesium. Make sure you take a decent kind magnesium oxide is worthless, magnesium citrate is OK, ideally you should take a chelated magnesium.

The chelates are more bioavaialbe and not laxative. The type of chelate influences where it ends up in greater concentrations in the body.

I take Magnesium Taurate for my cardio tissue once a day [1], and Magnesium Glycinate once a day to target my skeletal muscle [2].

I have the exact same problem with sleep. I fall asleep easily but wake up in the middle of the night wide awake. This is an entirely new phenomenon for me and it started when I went on keto...If you find something that works for you please for the love of god let us know.

My experience: I admittedly haven't been on top of my electrolyte game from the start. Aside from lots of sodium and a multivitamin I've largely ignored supplementing potassium and magnesium which it turns out may be somewhat of a requirement. I've started using Lite Salt on everything for potassium, and I've read that magnesium can help with this particular problem. I started last night and slept until 6am. That's definitely an improvement but I was also completely exhausted so that might be why. We'll see.

u/UnlikeSpace3858 · 3 pointsr/keto

You need a lot of water and electrolytes. Best to mix up your own keto electrolyte drink daily to be sure you're getting some salts.

This bottle is great for tossing in your electrolytes, since the top screws off. Natural Calm Powder is a popular magnesium citrate supplement for mixing up ketoade, just add a teaspoon of it, along with 1/4 or 1/2tsp Lite Salt and 1/4tsp regular salt, Tbsp lemon juice, liquid stevia or your choice of sweetener. Makes an electrolyte lemonade much more potent than any store bought "electrolyte drink" and cheaper per serving compared.

u/nibay · 2 pointsr/migraine

I can't speak on these particular prescriptions, but I have used all 3 supplements. The coenzyme Q10 didn't do much for me, so I don't take it any longer. I do still use the B2 and Magnesium. I actually use a product called Preventa Migraine, which has magnesium, B2, Butterbur and Feverfew. Many people have had a lot of success with these supplements. For me, I have found the severity of the average migraine to be reduced, but they are no less frequent (still chronic).

Supplements are an often discussed topic in this sub. I'm sure you can't find a ton of discussion on these. Good luck!

Edit: apparently there is another product called Migravent with contains Coenzyme Q10, magnesium, B2 and Butterbur.

Edit 2: 10 days later, just prescribed 120mg daily of verapamil. I guess we will find out together!

I have been taking Magnesium Taurate for several years now with a great deal of success for two things: Generalized anxiety as well as Atrial Fibrilation/V-Tac. My episodes of palpitations - and thength thereof when they do occur have been greatly reduced. Regarding anxiety in general I also feel much more calm.

The argument as to whether it works for me is not up for debate. However the quality of my supplement has gone downhill the past few times I've gotten it - and the reviews are showing others experienceing the same.

I currently take 125mg 2x daily - once in the AM along with asprin, Rainbow Light Men's Multi and Vitamin D, and once before bed by itself:

https://www.amazon.com/Cardiovascular-Research-Magnesium-Taurate-Capsules/dp/B00AESH6YQ/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1537991711&sr=8-1&keywords=magnesium+taurate (This is what I've been taking for years)

I was looking at this to try next:

https://www.amazon.com/Magnesium-Taurate-Plus-Tablets-Count/dp/B005LPFA9U/ref=sr_1_4_a_it?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1537991711&sr=8-4&keywords=magnesium%2Btaurate&th=1

  1. I haven't taken one with B6 before. Wondering what the benefit there is.
  2. I have also read Calcium helps with absorption of the magnesium. I've never taken a Calcium supplement though and like I've said it has still helped me immensely - do I really need to look at Calcium?
  3. These are 400mg. I've been taking 125 2x daily so 400 is a decent jump - and I'd be taking it once daily. I think the AM makes the most sense because of why I'm taking it, but let me know.

I am male, 6'6", 210 lbs, 36 years old - if it matters.

    Thanks all!

The question "what has had the most significant effect for you?" has been posed in /r/nootropics and /r/stackadvice before. The #1 answer is always exercise. Exercise will have a much more significant effect than any nootropic, and the recommendation is always to ensure that sleep, diet, and exercise are all taken care of before experimenting with nootropics.

That being said, some supplements can definitely help to address anxiety/depression. Let me also say that every body is different; and between two people who are trying to ameliorate the same condition, the same supplement could help one and worsen the other.

The essentials for anyone are: Omega-3s, magnesium glycinate, and a B-complex. Also consider ALCAR and a choline source (such as alpha-GPC).

Supplements that people report being beneficial for anxiety/depression (and therefore focus, energy, mental capacity): ashwagandha, rosea rhiodola, L-theanine bacopa, SEMAX, memantine.

There are plenty (1, 2, 3) of reports on what has worked for certain people to tackle their anxiety/depression. (Click through all of those).

My recommendation for you would be to get this magnesium, some good fish oil, and this B-complex. Then give SEMAX a shot. Then maybe look into bacopa, aswagandha, etc.

Regarding noopept: "Noopept reduces anxiety and depression for me. When I went through a bad time it would immediately take the emotion out of me." Perhaps try it too.

u/Path0genInfectious · 1 pointr/crossfit

In addition to the other recommendations, after a hard ass workout you need a chance to calm your central nervous system down. It is still ripping and ready to go, especially after a high intensity crossfit workout.

There are a few ways to help do this. One... Cold ass shower. Yeah, it will shock your body out of beast mode and you should feel calmer afterwards.

Take some magnesium. The good kind. Do your research on this, there is a lot of trash out there and some magnesium forms are basically poison for you but are sold as supplements. Almost everyone is deficient in magnesium. I take an additional 400-750 a day in the evenings. Look for the Magnesium Chelate and not that Oxide shit.

I use these:

Good luck man, hope it helps. Realize that your body responded to a fight/flight situation and you're trying to sleep afterwards so it is naturally difficult to do that.

Supplement your electrolytes and you will have 0 issues!

Get 100% of your daily value of Sodium from 1 cup of Bone Broth (or chicken broth).

In that, drop 1 teaspoon of NoSalt, which is just pure Potassium cholride powder. BAM! 100% daily value of Potassium.

Then, take 2 doses of Magnesium Glycinate Chelate and twice as much Coral Calcium if you want to get 100% of your Magnesium, and a 2-to-1 ratio of Magnesium to Calcium, which is preferred for bone calcium and blood calcium levels.

If you take your salty electrolyte shot everyday like I do, and adapt to ketosis at <25g carbs per day and not exceeding 150g protein, I bet you will turn Super Saiyan. LOL

u/SuperAgonist · 1 pointr/Nootropics

That's great to hear! I've had a nice experience with Citrate too, although I think I liked Magnesium Malate more.

You said you use the NOW brand. I've seen many complaints in Amazon reviews that, for at least the recent year or so, the Magnesium Citrate powder by NOW doesn't dissolve well in water - a lot of it seems to sink to the bottom.

Have you noticed such a thing as well? Water solubility could be important for optimal absorption, so that's a possible concern.

Excellent post.

At times, I do feel a bit depleted when taking adderall XR continuously. The only breaks I give the self are on Fridays and Saturdays. Sometimes, not even once! Only 2 or 3 per month.

I felt that Vitamin D was lacking, that helped a bit. It did not give me some narcoleptic feeling especially int he mornings. I then added Vitamin B, which seemed to fix the issue for long days. However, I did not suspect it to be magnesium.

When I take magnesium consecutively, the next days would feel quite different. 50% of the time, I will be tired, and 50% of the time (added with fish oil) I would feel high in libido.

I believe I get less brain fog when magnesium is in the system. H

Extremely helpful post.

I. What type of magnesium would you suggest I take first?

I have only been taking magnesium from nature made, as well as magnesium glycenate

II. What made you not take Vyvanse? Lately, I have been feeling a high push and then, it crashes down 40-60% of the time. I might not have been taking better sleep and brain fog usually happens if it is less than 6 hours (but funny enough, no brain fog if 4 hours and might be the bad cycles I wake up from). This time, with your suggestion, (and after 2-3 hours since breakfast) I have taken vitamin c, and magnesium. I feel quite better. I tend to just eat various foods before sleep, but I believe this might all be solved if I switched to Vyvanse, since I read that it does not really give you a push and this might mean no hard crashes or brain fogs. But I also heard it is less effective

I tried the following for my sleep:

  • Magnesium

  • Magnesium L Threonate Capsules

I sleep like a baby and wake up refreshed. You can look into that and try it out. I sleep late like 11:55 pm and wake up around 6 am. Refreshed. Also my quality of sleep has improved by like 30%. Earlier I used to have difficulty sleeping even after doing exercise and not taking any caffeine after 10:00 am.

Check /r/Supplements or /r/Nootropics for more details.

PM if you want. I had same issue and now I am way better off

You'll end up with water and a solution of magnesium ions and phosphate ions. Whether the phosphate has any hydrogen left depends on how much hydroxide you put in. If you want magnesium phosphate, Mg3(PO4)2, you'll need to do the math to get the molar ratios right.

It's just an acid-base reaction, it will be moderately exothermic, but assuming you don't have really concentrated acid you should be all right. If you're worried wear gloves and safety goggles and mix it slowly.

Edit- I found a bottle of food-grade phosphoric acid on amazon, it says 85% in water. That's concentrated enough to be dangerous, I hope you have proper protective equipment and know what you're doing. :)

Also found a bottle of magnesium oxide powder on Amazon which would work as well as hydroxide. Again though, it'll be an exothermic reaction and there may be spattering. You might find a cheaper source of MgO or Mg(OH)2 elsewhere, but that was the cheapest food-grade I found with a cursory search.

High potency full spec cbd oil at night and this stuff, that's it. That combo, and my sleep has been so much better and wake up refreshed not tired/drowsy.

Pure Encapsulations Mag Glycinate on Amazon. Pricey, but I've tried other cheaper ones and they were bunk. That stuff actually works and I've recommended to others including friends and said the same thing.

Those symptoms sound like a lack of electrolytes and/or dehydration. Try drinking more water and supplementing electrolytes. If it is electrolytes, after supplementing, the dizziness/headache feeling should go away quickly, and in a while, you should get your energy back, maybe next day.

For starters, I would just start with sodium specifically, just by drink a glass or two of water with a teaspoon of table salt in it.

Better would be getting salt with potassium in it, though, like this Lo Salt https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004TEVING - they sell these or similar ones in most supermarkets.

For magnesium, you can get pills. But don't buy chelated magnesium, I heard it gives you diarrhea, I use magnesium malate - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0013RGUK8 - It says it is 10 calories a pill though and recommends 3 pills a day - I usually only took 1 or 2 depending on how I felt.

Never really supplemented calcium, and most of the times don't take magnesium either. Go by the feeling, start with sodium/potassium salt first and see how you feel.

I haven't done a fast longer than 4 days though.

Magnesium oil (magnesium chloride) is also awesome for a bath, or applied directly to the skin. The life flo lotion smells awesome and is basically just a good general lotion. The life flo gel is my favorite form of topical magnesium. Stings a little, though, kind of like the spray, but isn't messy and seems to dry quicker than the sprays. Then there are a ton of sprays, here is life flo's. You can also buy flakes and either make your own spray or just put them in a bath.

u/Apthole · 1 pointr/Lyme

in my personal experience, unless I was already sleep deprived, I could never sleep past like 4 hours.. From then on, it's restlessness with brief sleeps. I found a more bio-available form of magnesium than the one I used to take and it completely fixed my sleep issues single-handedly. My other trick when I wake up like 2-3 hours before i want to is to chug water. It sounds stupid but just try it. I typically drink 64oz before bed and another 32 ready on bed stand if I wake up.

2 things worth trying, goodluck!

if you're curious to pursue, here's a link to the mag I take. I've never done a background check on the company so do with it as you may.. just found it on amazon based on certain magnesium forms I sought. https://www.amazon.com/Triple-Calm-Magnesium-Glycinate-Relaxation/dp/B01GW4V7MC/ref=sr_1_18?crid=1GR18LHX6W5VF&keywords=magnesium+taurate&qid=1558648940&s=gateway&sprefix=magnesium+tau%2Caps%2C168&sr=8-18

Do you mean transdermal? I've never heard of subdermal magnesium.

If so, I like this gel. Isn't quite as messy as the oils. They also make a lotion that smells good and isn't oily or anything, is pretty much like a normal lotion.

u/iDrinan · 2 pointsr/afinil

Although a bit on the pricier side, I use Pure Encapsulations Magnesium glycinate, but any reputable brand and bioavailable form will do (glycinate is considered the most bioavailable, but more expensive due to the chelation process.)

Unless you are predisposed to liver or kidney issues, I wouldn't worry unless along with the above you're taking a massive stack of supplements. In which case, you'd want to analyze that first.

With that said, cranberry extracts are great for kidney function in general.

u/Scrump507 · 2 pointsr/keto

The salt and the nu salt is a no brainer, like most I just add it to my foods. The magnesium, however, is a bit harder. The more I read up on it the more I realize there are multiple forms it came in. My first bottle (still using it, I'm frugal... what can I say?) is NatureMade Magnesium 250mg. In the small print on the back it says its magnesium oxide. When I read up on that, it turns out the magnesium oxide is one of the most abundant you can buy because its so cheap. However, (and I'm paraphrasing and therefore any mistakes are mine and mine alone) it turns out that our bodies have a hard time breaking this type down and we only really get about 40mg(?) of the 250mg. However, another variation (and there are a few good variations) is Magnesium Aspartate (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BCYRRE/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=9AZARRFU11IA&coliid=I38KDKBN14ACNX) from Amazon. Easier for your body to break down.

If you want more more information to make your own decision, here is one link that might help: http://www.clinicians.co.nz/which-magnesium-is-the-best/

Good luck on your journey... and stay strong!

EDIT: I also want to say that when taking magnesium, go slow. Figure out what dose is best for your body. If I said this once, I've said this a gazillion times... everybody is different, so how much magnesium added to their diet will be different. And jumping in too fast with a lot of magnesium can possibly lead to some side effects... Nothing dire, but butt pee is something some have complained about. So start smaller and keep track of how your body reacts. And go from there.

u/prosperouslife · 0 pointsr/Supplements

My statement is correct. You're confusing actual weight with a "serving".

The label must meet a FDA labelling standard which shows the % of the RDA in a "serving" but a serving size is a variable. A serving can be anything from one tablet to the entire bottle.

The weight of a serving of magnesium oxide that contains 100% of the RDA is different than the weight of a serving of magnesium citrate that contains 100% of the RDA.

A quarter teaspoon of mag oxide contains as much magnesium as two huge tablets of citrate, plus the binders and fillers.

Different companies format their labels differently too. Manufacturers can format their label differently and still meet the FDA requirement.

So yes two different brands listing 600mg of X should contain 600mg of X then additional weight to account for the compounds actual weight.

But consider these two labels; NOW Mag Oxide vs Solgar Mag citrate. Yes, both show that a serving is 100% of the RDA but they indicate that in different ways.

https://www.amazon.com/Now-Supplements-Magnesium-Oxide-8-Ounce/dp/B0010B8CBW

vs

https://www.amazon.com/Solgar-Magnesium-Absorbable-Promotes-Suitable/dp/B012T97SDQ/

Look at the shipping weights for each product. The Citrate is 1.1 pounds the Oxide is 8 ounces. Yet the Oxide, which weighs half the amount of the citrate contains over 400 "servings"

There are also different grades of a compound. There exists high elemental magnesium in high quality mag citrate vs low elemental mag in low quality mag citrate, etc. different densities of elemental magnesium across various grades of the compound.

Another example is Lithium Orotate. The labels list the total weight not the elemental lithium weight. In fact, that's notated on the label of most lithium orotate supplements, as well as many other supplements

"Lithium (as lithium Orotate) 120mg (4.6mg as elemental lithium)"

https://www.amazon.com/Morton-Salt-Substitute-3-12-Ounce-Pack/dp/B00473QUGO/ref=sr_1_2?crid=2XG2MR8FX227D&keywords=morton%2Bsalt%2Bsubstitute&qid=1556714611&s=hpc&sprefix=morton%2B%2Chpc%2C122&sr=1-2-catcorr&th=1

I put 1/2 teaspoon in 32 ounces of water (sorry, you'll have to convert those measurements) plus some regular table salt for taste. Plus some kind of powdered or liquid flavoring - we have liquid drops here in the States to flavor water. You could use lemon since you're already drinking that.

The only thing that has ever worked consistently and without building up a tolerance is Seroquel. Xanax works great but leaves me lethargic, and I'll keep having to increase the dose. I went off the Seroquel last year because I couldn't stand the side effects, but I miss consistently getting 8 hours per night.

Now that I'm off the Seroquel, I have to cycle through various options because none of them work well for more than a few days at a time. 10mg melatonin tabs work the best, a medical marijuana tincture is also helpful, and I still sometimes go for the Xanax when I'm struggling with bad anxiety. If I take something that doesn't work, I have magnesium and valerian supplements that will help. They're rarely enough on their own, though.

I purchased someSource Naturals magnesium malate 425mg per serving after hearing good reviews. However, I found after taking them before bed I would wake up feeling a bit washed out, almost like a hangover.

I checked the label and a serving provides 425mg of magnesium and 5mg of sodium. Now 5mg of sodium is above the recommended daily allowance and that is not factoring in any intake from food.

Is this normal for a magnesium supplement?

Try taking magnesium glycinate (the glycinate part enables it to be absorbed fully). I've spent a long time following a ketogenic lifestyle and nightime leg cramps are a common complaint. A good quality supplement such as this: Doctor's Best High Absorption 100% Chelated Magnesium 240 Tablets https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B006I74ID4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_kTnrzbZA10JQM may well help.

I wouldn't bother with anything that doesn't have glycinate or chelated in the name as your body can't absorb it properly. Mostly, it will just cause you to spend a lot of time on the toilet!

Check out this WebMD page that goes in to more detail. http://www.webmd.com/pain-management/muscle-spasms-cramps-charley-horse

As an aside, this page discusses the provenance of the term 'Charley Horse' and why it is commonly used in the US to describe leg cramps. http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/charley-horse.html

I take magnesium pills and Preventa Migraine on the daily. I highly recommend both.

I recently began taking Imitrex on the onset of a migraine. The first time I took it I got horrible side effects with my whole torso and face feeling really tight but I haven't experienced much the following few times. The last time I took it, which was a few days ago, it was awesome. Really took the migraine away.

And if all else fails, I use medical cannabis. Takes the edge off of most negative feelings, honestly. Lol

Sodium. Potassium. Magnesium. In that order.

Want to make it easy? Buy bullion paste or cubes. Drink hot broth twice a day with 1/8-1/4 tsp of potassium salt in in. That's what I do. Have some next to me right now as a matter of fact.

This is what I use specifically:

Potassium:

Magnesium:

Uh ok... so i made some research on my own and found this:

https://www.amazon.com/NOW-Magnesium-Citrate-Powder-8-Ounce/product-reviews/B004189JCW

I just purchased 2 bottles, only to find out it was NOT "pure" Magnesium Citrate powder. I am a long time, and recurrent, purchaser of the magnesium citrate powder. I make my own capsules for easy ingestion. However, I noticed the powder was different this time, and when I tasted my latest purchase the exothermic reaction on my tongue was certainly enough to convince me. I highly suspect the stuff is actually sodium picosulfate/magnesium citrate, SPMC (I was a chemistry major, now a physician).
If the product is SPMC than putting it into capsules before ingestion can be dangerous, as there are case reports of stomach ulceration caused by the known exothermic reaction. If you dissolve it in water before ingestion then it should not harm you, as it is a well used laxative before colonoscopies in certain parts of the world.
However, I am disappointed in the manufacturer for changing their product, and marketing it as the same old "pure" stuff that I have come to know and love. It is NOT pure magnesium citrate powder!

So thats that... So yeah... Gym Beam (im sooory guys if i hurt your favourite brand- dont be so touchy feely) is probably the same case as written above.

Ask your doctor about a magnesium supplement as well, if you haven't already tried it. Something like this one.

I was diagnosed with PVCs years ago. The many docs I've seen, and tested by, have all said it's benign. Still doesn't freak me the fuck out. When I'm sleep deprived, too much caffeine or sugar, or just stressed about something else, they're much worse. If I get one, it's not so bad, but if they're in small bunches, or happen over a long period of the day, they usually give me more worry.

One thing that did seem to help a bit was magnesium. Now there's certain types that seem to be relatively useless, like magnesium oxide, but read that [magnesium taurate] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00014D5TS/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) works better for PVCs. The link is the one I purchased on Amazon, and seems to help. Full disclosure, I in no way am affiliated with the manufacturer, just passing along what's worked for me.

Both will last you longer, be more effective, and in the end just be more efficient at tackling the electrolyte imbalances we suffer through as alcoholics.

You take a tea spoon/table spoon/whatever spoon and mix it into water, stir it up and gulp it down.

How much should I take and when?

u/dbkate · 1 pointr/keto

The salt helps the most, but you need the others. You need 5,000 mg of sodium a day, measured out. Salting food doesn't come anywhere near that. The bouillon cubes are purely for the sodium, not the other nutrients. One cube/packet usually has around 2,500 mgs, thus two a day -- bone broth is not salted enough.

You can get magnesuim glycinate here on Amazon FR.

u/Aliessil · 1 pointr/ketouk

The only trouble with these is the doses are really small - sodium is 200/5000mg (amount vs FAQ daily recommendation), magnesium's 56/300mg, potassium's 70/1000mg; even if you take the recommended maximum of 4 tablets/day, that's still not much of a dent.

This is what I use (all Amazon links for convenience):

I'm sorry you're feeling this way. Have you tried taking a magnesium supplement? I had a hard time falling asleep for years, as I was anxious as well. After reading someone's suggestion for magnesium (for palpitations), I ordered [these] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01GW4V7MC/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1493450972&sr=8-1&keywords=Natural+Rhythm) on Amazon. I use both. Epsom salt baths 4 times a week after a workout and I take this form of magnesium:

https://www.amazon.com/Now-Foods-Magtein-90-Count/dp/B00JEZQAFG/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1469285530&sr=8-1&keywords=now+Magnesium+Threonate

So with what I get in the Epsom salt baths and this supplement, I've got Magnesium covered. So instead of using Fluoride rinses, I was thinking about using this:

https://www.amazon.com/Apagard-M-Plus-toothpaste-nanohydroxyapatite-remineralizing/dp/B0016GCZQO/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1484008970&sr=8-1&keywords=Apagard+M-Plus+toothpaste+115g

Try Pure Mg oil. worked wonders for me. 5 sprays on the sole of each foot. Put feet into crocs or flip-flops or some non-absorbent shoe. Let skin absorb for 20-30 minutes. Rinse off. Repeat daily. Also google the various stretches and rollers you can do for plantar fasciitis. I struggled with it for two years. The Mg oil really helped.

What magnesium and potassium supplements are you taking? Magnesium carbonate pills didn't help me with my blood pressure or lightheadedness. It wasn't until I switched to Magnesium Citrate powder that I mixed with water and a potassium salt-substitute that my blood pressure went down and I stopped feeling faint/dizzy.

I really feel that switching to magnesium citrate powder was the key to lowering my bp and feeling better. This is the one I use NOW Foods Magnesium Citrate Powder
