I LOVE this controller. It's so nice. It has Bluetooth and a wireless USB receiver for PC gaming. Works really nice for emulators and for the Gear VR too. The phone cradle is super secure and fits the Note 8. Totally recommended.
Checkout the gamesir G4s it holds my phone great and works with everything. Comes with a USB receiver and Bluetooth mode. Use it on my PC and my phone without issues

But I feel kinda bad trying to ask for that kind of spending from anyone, much less an extremely kind stranger, so If that seems a little crazy of a demand; [this] (https://www.amazon.com/GameSir-G4s-Bluetooth-Wireless-Controller/dp/B01HNXGKT6/ref=pd_ybh_a_20?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=N4GRE6AQB46CNVGHRC7K) ($50.00-$100.00 depending on sales) will be just as good.
thanks for the shot, this is a really cool giveaway!

Is what I got. And it has worked perfectly so far! The holder holds my Galaxy S8+ no problem.
Gamesir G4s is quite nice.
Not OP, but I use the Gamesir G4s and it works superbly. Compatible with every single emulator I've tried and also works with streaming services like LiquidSky. Best part is that it's got a programmable rapid fire function, which is great for some of those sidescroller games they require you to spam the fire button. :)
The gamesir g4s and t1s both feature USB dongles that you can plug into PC for wireless gaming. They are also Bluetooth for connecting to Android. G4s is Xbox controller layout, and t1s is closer to PS4 layout. They can also be hooked directly to Android or PC via USB cable if you do not want to use wireless.

i do notice a tiny bit of lag when playing though
I like the controllers with the phone clips because there's more control with how the screen is angled. I don't like the controllers that attach to the sides of the phone (like a Game Gear). I have a Gamesir G4S. It's quite good in feel. The only issue I have is it randomly disconnects now and then, which isn't too big a deal for a game like FFT.
A lot of people like the 8bitdo variants with a separate clip, but they're smaller than I'd like.
You can find a lot of info for different controllers on /r/emulationonandroid
Honestly dude check amazon. I’ll edit this after I look for one for you but there’s tons of controllers with phone mounts on there. I used to just use my PS4 controller to race on my phone but I’ve looked into it, and they’re cheap. Maybe 30-40$ max. Alternatively. Get a dollar store phone holder for a window or something and super glue it to an old controller that’s Bluetooth.

I'd look into this, but please keep in mind that you should evaluate the reviews for any product you want to purchase, as it can prevent frustration in the future.
Essentially, when it comes to mobile controls, most of them are made elsewhere for dirt cheap, so just be careful when trying to find a reliable one.

I'm using The G4 version for almost two years by now and never had any issues. It's easy to configure, worked with every controller supported app i've tested. smooth triggers, sits in hand nicely, .....and THE LIGHTS! Damn they are bright
(lights can be turned off of course)

Reigns is pretty good.
I also play Catan and Carcassonne.
I have a Gamesir g4s which I use to play steam games on my phone through moonlight.
Also you can get megadrive, n64, ps1, gameboy etc. emulators on android some of which perform flawlessly. I've recently been playing spiro using the above controller.
I'm late to the party but this is a lightning deal on Amazon for 30 more minutes. $37.99 USD.

Another GameSir user here, GameSir G4s, it was on sale a few months back so I snapped it up. Never had an issue with it, worked like a charm.
A couple of highlights that tipped me in its direction is having a proper internal battery instead of using AA's / AAA's, and it being plug and play with PCs. I have only tested it on the PC and havent used it for that since, but it was nice to have the option.
Alright. This is gonna be a long comment so stick with me as you read it alright. Don't just scroll through it.
So based on your post, you're looking for a wireless controller with a good D-Pad similar to the ones you would find on a Nintendo Controller (Either the NES or SNES i'm assuming). If that is the case, you have two options. Both the options are based on the PS4 and Xbox One/Elite controllers respectively. With that being said, let me show you the controllers.
The first one is the GameSir G3s Bluetooth Controller. This controller is based on the PS4 controller, especially considering the triggers on the controllers based on what everyone says and my experience with the controller. This controller has built-in vibration feedback (spoiler alert: this function only works on PC and PS3). So this controller has a separate bracket for holding an average sized phone, turbo fire buttons, Bluetooth 4.0 as well as micro and mini USB connectivity for PC, PS3, and Android. It also comes with a wireless USB dongle as well (similar to the DJ Hero wireless connector or any wireless connector for a mouse and keyboard). This controller has a battery life of 18 hours as well.
The second option is the GameSir G4s Bluetooth Controller. Unlike the G3s, this controller is based on the Xbox One/Elite Controller as aforementioned earlier, especially considering the design of the controller itself. Also, the bracket is built inside the controller itself for the phone for less clutter. However, the clear and turbo buttons are placed inside where the bracket is located. If you look at some unboxing videos of it, you'll see what I mean. Another thing to note is that it has 10 hours of battery life instead of the G3s' 18 hour battery life. Other than that, it's the same thing as the G3s controller (Bluetooth 4.0, Wireless USB Dongle, Controller Vibrations, .etc).
There is a third option for your situation if you're on a budget, and that is the GameSir G3s WIRED Controller and the GameSir G3s WIRELESS Controller. Even though this is the cheapest option and is still compatible with Android, PC, and PS3, it doesn't come with a phone bracket. HOWEVER, I wouldn't get this because to order a phone bracket, you're gonna have to wait 2 weeks for a 8 to 10 dollar bracket for the controller if you're gonna buy one off Ebay because it ships from China. I don't know about shipping with the controller bracket off of Amazon, which costs 13 dollars, but I'm going to assume that it's going to take the same amount of time if you were to order it off of Ebay. With that being said, by the time you were to pay for the bracket with the Wired or USB Dongle Controller, you would've paid the same amount of money you would for the Bluetooth G3s Controller.
Too Fucking Long; Didn't Fucking Read: Either get the GameSir G3s Bluetooth Controller or the GameSir G4s Bluetooth Controller

I haven't used it enough to give it a complete verdict. I can say that it connected easily, has stayed connected, and I played through the first world of Banjo Kazooie, and took gold in a Mario Kart 64 GP. 150cc of course. Yes I took the shortcut on Wario Stadium.
The led button lights are too bright in my opinion, so I usually turn them off. There are brightness levels though.
It's not perfect, but I like it a lot. Just wish I had more time to use it. I'm tempted to try something from 8bitDo just because they look cool and make me nostalgic.
Ouch, that's a pain. Not sure how cheap you need to go but I ended up getting a Gamesir G4S and it's detected fine by everything I've tried and works well enough. Not really a fan of xbox-style controllers, but it's pretty tolerable for all of that.
I use a tablet + Moonlight and a wireless Bluetooth android controller.
This one is for hand held, great for action games, shit for shooters

Wow, it's on a helluva sale right now on Amazon. Good thing I spent every dime I could find on my daughter for Christmas or I might be forced to take advantage of the sale haha.
Anyone have this controller and a Gamesir G4S/G3S?
https://www.amazon.com/GameSir-G4s-Bluetooth-Wireless-Controller/dp/B01HNXGKT6/
How do they compare in build quality/ease of use?
I use the GamSir G4s and absolutely love it. The "stand" is built into the controller and when you aren't using it you can fold it down to the controller. I've used it with my note 8 and a couple of other devices and it works great.

Sorry for the long post, but the original text post I made got deleted by the automoderator and I was told to post this here. I'm looking for a controller for PC gaming. I would prefer for it to have both wired and wireless capabilities (since I sometimes game on a monitor and other times on a big TV, and in the former scenario I'd prefer the minimal input lag of hard wiring, while in the latter case I'd prefer to sit further away and not deal with the hassle of another long wire), but neither of these is a must. Either/or is fine if necessary. Problem is, though, that I'm extremely picky about my controllers. Here's all the shit I want, in descending order of importance:
Now of course I realize this is a lot to ask, and there probably isn't a controller in existence that checks all these boxes. So I'm just looking for something that fits this description as closely as possible. I've done about eight hours of research so far and have come up with this list:
Would be perfect, except the buttons are a little on the big side. I actually ordered this one but had to return it the same day I received it because the analog stick was horribly off (inputting directly up worked fine, but 0.5mm to the right of that made it jump directly to full up-right; inputting directly right resulted in it reading up-right (think east-northeast); inputting down resulted in a slightly right-of-down reading; 0.5mm to the right of that would make it jump directly to full down-right with no in between; inputting directly left resulted in a down-left reading). I'd order another one, but the buttons were also mushier than I'd have liked, and it seemed fairly lightweight and low-construction-quality for the price tag.
Ticks most of my boxes and should have solid build quality, but I'm told the buttons outside of the d-pad and bumpers are mushy rather than clicky, and it's a real bitch to tear it down and replace the switches. This is probably next on my list if I don't get any good suggestions.
Buttons are too big and too far apart; d-pad is too far away from the analog stick.
Build quality issues highlighted in the reviews; d-pad and bumpers look mushy af, buttons probably use the same switches
Buttons are way too far apart; build quality is a question mark; controller itself is a bit on the ugly side
Build quality is mediocre at best, considering this company is a cheap knockoff manufacturer from China; iPega also makes extensive use of fake reviews on its product pages on Amazon, so I'd rather not support them
Appears to have cheap build quality and be extremely light with completely limp/non-springy analog sticks and completely unsatisfying non-clicky buttons based on the unboxing/review video the one guy made in the reviews
Bad reviews, probably low build quality
d-pad, China, red flag price tag
Ditto the above for this and this
Anyways. All that having been said. Is anyone here aware of a controller that ticks some or most of these boxes? All recommendations are welcome! And yes, I know it's a fuck-you long post. And that I'm a picky-ass bastard. Don't worry, I can take the downvotes - I was gonna burn this karma anyways.
This is a fantastic one, and it also comes with a wireless dongle for PC use.
Don't know what that means but check this out and thank me later.

Got it now. Maybe this?
