I agree with the other comments here, don't worry about spending more to get more. If you haven't heard decent headphones (designed for the sound quality not the looks or marketing) then something cheaper will still be impressive.
Here are some recommendations to get you started:
Open Back
Closed Back
Open back is a headphone that allows sound to leak out and lets noise around you in. Closed back isolates you from surrounding noises and prevents noise from leaking out. If you will only be using these at home I would recommend open back. They generally sound better for the price.
I am incredibly happy with these headphones. They are very comfortable and do a great job of keeping noise out, I can mow the yard with them on and still easily listen to talk radio with clarity. I really enjoy the quality of sound for the price as I tend to destroy my headphones quickly.

I just wanted to thank this subreddit for all of the helpful information!
Compared to something like this? Yeah it'll sound bad.
Imo, if you need a one with mic get something cheaper, the 7.1 is just a gimmick.
If you want something good get the Monoprice's plus a cheap mic instead.
I brought some Monoprice 108323s on tour last year, and just had them folded up hanging on a bungee cord above my seat. They're cheap-ish (I got them for like $20), so you don't have to worry a whole lot about breaking or losing them, but they're also pretty good headphones for the price point. They don't have active noise cancellation, but they blocked out most of the noise on the bus when I wanted to get some sleep. They've lasted me 2 years of casual use and one season of drum corps so far, probably the best $20 I've ever spent. The only downside is that the stock earpads are a little uncomfortable, but I was able to get some comfortable replacements pretty inexpensively on their website.
I recommend the Monoprice 8323:
http://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-108323-Premium-Hi-Fi-Headphone/dp/B007SP2CO2/ref=pd_sim_sbs_e_1
I'd recommend some decent headphones and a cheap mic like this one: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0727Z8TMX
I'd be surprised if you can find a halfway decent gaming headset that's inexpensive, as they tend to have poor sound and microphones for the money until you hit the premium tier. But you can get some pretty excellent $30 wired headphones that will last you a long time and be useful for other things besides gaming, and that mic that I linked is only $10 and sounds way better than the mic on my cheap headset.
Edit: here's an example of a cheap pair of headphones that I'm sure sounds way better than any budget headset: https://smile.amazon.com/Monoprice-108323-Headphone-Gold-Plated-Accessories/dp/B007SP2CO2/
(sorry if posted in wrong thread)
New to Reddit. Kindly someone suggest Headphones 25$ for gaming ? over the ear ? cheap good ones. amazon US ?

Hmm I think this is a good game to play. I would like to open this up to everyone and have them comment on the exact model of what I have in my picture. I'll edit my post with the confirmation and links of what everything is. Clues: look at old version of my battle stations

Chair (this is a hard one): I forget
Going to have to overshoot 50 bucks on this:
32GB-64GB SD card (if your phone supports it): $20-30 and 40-50$ (128GB for $120 if you really want to go nuts)
Decent TPU case: 5-9$
Spare battery (if your phone supports it): 9-13$ for a third party.
Headphones: $5-250 (I got these back when they were $20 and they are awesome. Really, you can't go wrong with most headphones vs using your phone speaker for audio.)
$1-3 OTG cable: As mentioned, invaluable if you want to hook up a mouse/keyboard to your phone.
As for apps, I'd definitely outright buy Titanium Backup Pro (6$), Greenify donation package (3$), Pocketcasts (4$), and Smart IR Remote (7$ and if your phone has an IR blaster) at the very least.
I work 5 days a week as a club Dj and got tired of replacing expensive headphones every 6 months. I tried these they work great and last a long time. Visiting DJ's who forgot theirs or they broke and borrowed mine were surprised when I told them.
I've got the 8323 and panasonic RP-HTF600. I slightly prefer the Panasonic. Although the Monoprices are sturdier, I feel like the mids and highs wear my ears out on the Monoprices.
You should try the Monoprice 8323s (Available via Amazon). These are $25 USD headphones, and can easily pass for $200 cans. They seal up nice and tight to block out noise, and have really decent bass, mids, and highs. I've had mine about a week and like them as much as my Grado SR60s.
Monoprice 8323 is a good low-budget option. I've used these for around 2 years myself. Good pair of headphones, however the extension on one side has cracked and is beginning to crack on the other. It's easily repairable with electrical tape, and considering the color you can't really see it, but that is a factor. Cheap enough to replace if I really wanted to, however.
Audio-Technica ATH-M50x is close to the max on your budget, but is a universally recommended great option.
Whatever you get, make sure it has a replaceable/detachable cord.
/r/headphones has a good recommendation sub you may want to check out as well that will cover more ground.
> There is plenty of reason to buy a gaming headset.
No, there is precisely one reason to buy a gaming headset i.e. you don't want to deal with two cables.... in which case, you can buy a passthrough mic, which still has better quality than the Cloud2
> and way cheaper than buying a ton of high end shit for marginally better sound.
A) "A bunch" = buy 2 things instead of 1, and plug 1 into the other. Ok.
B)
> If my mic breaks i just take it out and attach a new one.
The problem is not with the external mic accessory, the problems arrive internally, as is wont to happen when you mic two things you shouldn't be mixing.
Monoprice 108323. Best you can get for under $50. Really good quality.
MadLustEnvy already made a list.
>Vmoda BoomPro Headphone Compatibility List:
This list will be updated and may be changed. Currently, this is only a list of headphones I know that are capable of being used with the Vmoda BoomPro, not a list of recommendations.

>MrSpeakers Mad Dog (single ended version)

>Skullcandy Aviator
>Vmoda LP2, M80, M100, XS
I would like to add on that they work with the monoprice cheapos
May work with the MSR7, need confirmation.
Ohh right, I see. Tough budget to work with, but I'm sure the others will be able to recommend something decent.
I've personally used the Sennheiser HD202 for a while but didn't like it being on-ear. If you want something bigger, i reckon this might fit the bill:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B007SP2CO2/ref=pd_aw_sim_sbs_23_of_27?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=TR87BX2CPCB3HKMW26XM
People actually do that? That sounds ridiculously unsafe. Crimeny, you just know those are going to be the people yelling the loudest when they break their ankles in a scooter accident.
Visual triggers are a thing? There are a few things I get misophonic reactions to, but I never felt comfortable applying the label to them because, well, the definition of misohonia concerns sounds. But mine are weird too. If my mom is walking around the house and stops suddenly to think, and it's in my peripheral vision... Rage. I just want to shove her and get her to start moving again. People doing things unnecessarily slowly, too, like making coffee in slow motion. YOU DUMB SLOTH WHY CAN'T YOU JUST DO IT FREAKING NORMALLY COME ON DO YOU EVEN KNOW HOW MUCH I WANT TO DUMP THAT COFFEE POT ON YOU RIGHT NOW?!
No idea why those trigger me. Just gotta close my eyes and, if someone's breathing heavily or coughing, blast some rainymood or metal or orchestra through my headphones. (life has gotten so much easier since I invested in a pair of Monoprice 'phones. If you don't already have good headphones, those are exceptional for the price).
Monoprice 8323.
The $50 Klipsch IMAGE S4 are great for the price. I used mine for over 2 years before they broke. They won't be as durable as some IEMs but if you take care of them they're great.
These $55 VSONIC R02 IEMs are apparently pretty great, but I haven't tried them.
These $30 Monoprice over-ear headphones are supposedly great for their price. I've never listened to them though.
And there are always the $11-17 Monoprice earbuds. They sound awesome for how cheap they are, but they would benefit from better tips.
Those are just some of your options though!
Is it a hassle to get them shipped from the UK or France etc? £16 here
These along with some memory foam ear pads. Then you could just grab an inline mic aux cable for cheap. All in all it would be a bit over your budget but you will have super comfortable great sounding headphones with a replaceable cable. The headphones come with a 4 foot cable and a 10 foot cable. These are the only headphones I use for my all around use.
Take a look at these

http://www.amazon.com/Superlux-HD-681-Professional-Monitor-Headphones/dp/B00BWUHHYE/ also comes in white
Don't own them, but have read that they're really good for the value.
Monoprice 8323's would be perfect, I've owned many headphones from $5-$200 and frequent r/headphones, these are one of the best bang for buck options out there. Sound much better than their price and block out a lot of external noise as well
Yeah I have looked at some Monoprice ones, and these Koss ones. Thanks for the recommendation!
Instead of a ModMic I use a V-MODA BoomPro ($29 mic with 3.5mm passthrough jack that plugs into headphones) attached to Philips SHP9500 headphones ($89; sound good and are very comfortable). Previously I used a Monoprice 108323 clone ($28; sound ok, but were tight on my head), which is a cheaper alternative. There's also official V-MODA headphones, but they are super expensive.
Unfortunately, some headphones that have a 3.5mm jack, such as Sennheiser, have a locking mechanism that prevent the BoomPro from connecting. There are guides on how to mod them to make it work, but I wasn't brave enough to try.
The advantage of this setup is that the mic is decoupled from the headphones, so if either one breaks it can be replaced. Also the mic can be disconnected to listen to music on a trip. With a traditional gaming headset if either one breaks you have to replace the whole headset. It also allows you to have high quality headphones if desired. Gaming headsets sound OK, but sometimes compromises are made to bring down price. Maybe only audiophiles care, though.
http://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-Premium-Hi-Fi-Style-Headphone/dp/B007SP2CO2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1344961538&sr=8-2&keywords=monoprice+headphones
This pair of Monoprice Headphones are actually quite good for the price:
https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=8323
They are available on Prime also, but more expensive.
https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-108323-Headphone-Gold-Plated-Accessories/dp/B007SP2CO2
The Koss Porta Pro are kinda an all time classic for great affordable headphones, but be aware that they are open backs. They offer no external sound isolation:
https://www.amazon.com/Koss-Porta-Pro-Headphones-Silver/dp/B00001P4ZH/
https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-Premium-Hi-Fi-Professional-Headphones/dp/B007SP2CO2/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1536340760&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=dj+headphones+monoprice&psc=1
These headphones are pretty good compared to my expensive headphones. They are comfortable and sound good enough for the $22 price tag.
https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-Premium-Hi-Fi-Professional-Headphones/dp/B007SP2CO2/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1538634007&sr=8-1-spons&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=monoprice+headphone&psc=1
Maybe those?
I would also look at the Koss Portapros or KSC75s.
A lot of this depends on your budget. Wanting to step up from 25€ still doesn't tell us how much you are willing to spend. All dollar amounts listed below are in USD:
Sub $20 - Tascam TH02. $18. Similar to the HD201 from Sennheiser, but easier to find and much cheaper.
Additionally, the Monoprice HiFi Studio Headphones are another excellent choice around $25.
$30 to $50 range - Koss Porta Pro. $33. I've always heard great things about these headphones, plus they have a sweet look.
$70ish range - Philips SHP9500S. These are closer to $75, but are extremely comfortable and have amazing sound for the price.
Most of these headphones won't require an external amp/DAC, but it won't hurt to have one either.
There aren't many in this price range that get a lot of recommendations around here. Since you need a closed back headphone for use on buses, this rules out the semi-open Superlux models, like the HD681 EVO.
Maybe the Monoprice 8323 will work for you.
I'm personally going to be rolling with a monoprice 8323, MPow Bluetooth Reciever and a pair of Brainwavz earpads.
$16 + $16 + 24 = $56 dollars for the most comfy pair of headphones I've ever had. Battery lasts me a full day and I can just take off the receiver and use it as a normal headset.

I don't think you and I bought the same studio headphones, then. To clarify myself a bit: I've bought two pair of the "pro studio DJ" headphones (which I can't find on their site anymore, so, these), and both were a league above my old skullcandy or Razer headphones (i made mistakes when younger), for roughly a third the cost. The lightweight ones are absolutely awful (comparatively, still better than Skullcandy).
Not sure who downvoted you tho. Doesn't seem to be a productive tactic for discussion... c'mon, /r/pcgaming, don't be mean.
Looks like you're in luck.
They even dropped in price slightly since I bought them.
Edit: I forget the exact model, but if I remember correctly, those headphones are exactly the same as a $70 pair made by Kicker. Just branded differently and sold much cheaper.
Double Edit: Looks like the Kickers are discontinued. Not sure how much they used to sell for, but go for about $50 now.
34 Suggestions :Creative Aurvana Live New is outside of your budget but there's some used (Like New) on Amazon that's pretty close to $50. They say over-ear but it might be on-ear if you have large ears.
Panasonic HTF600 Warm and bassy. Price has been high on these for some reason. I bought these over the summer for under $30. Still a good buy at $40.
Monoprice 8032 All about the mids, decent bass. Headband got uncomfortable after extended use. Might need to invest in a headband like this
Limitless Creations HP3BK Forgot about these, $40. Rec'd by /u/keanex.
here it is on amazon
http://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-108323-Premium-Hi-Fi-Headphone/dp/B007SP2CO2
they are a pretty damn obvious clone in the first place.
The cheapest headphone from Monoprice that is widely well regarded is the 108323
> https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-108323-Headphone-Gold-Plated-Accessories/dp/B007SP2CO2?th=1
Thanks man! Ill definitely go on YT and check some reviews on these 2. Would you have any earphone recommendations?
Heard good things about these headphones and for a great mic check out the Snowball
I suggest either the Monoprice 8323 or the [Creative Aurvana Live] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000ZJZ7OA/) although I highly suggest the latter even though it's slightly out of your price range.
Monoprice 8323, a bit bassy headphones with decent sound for the price. Not that comfortable to wear though. http://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-108323-Headphone-Gold-Plated-Accessories/dp/B007SP2CO2
Get these headphones
With this microphone which is onsale
Also for a bit more comfort get these earpads
The microphone is onsale so pick that up and the headphones and ear pads. These make 200 dollar headsets.
These headphones since I'm going off to college next year and I don't have any speakers or anything to bring for audio
Here's a few choices:
Sony MDR-V6
Creative Aurvana Live
Monoprice 108323
Audio-Technica ATH-M30
Depending on your budget:
$32 Monoprice 8323 (PS: These make an excellent 'backup pair' or daily use pair, I use these daily at work. They are actually more comfortable than the HD280s for long periods)
$90 Sennheiser HD280pro
$140 Audio Tehncica ATH-M50
$200 Sennheiser HD25 II
Budget - $80-$100 total
Source - PC and Moto X
Isolation - Semi-open at worst, closed preferable.
Type - IEM and over
Balance - Flat or slightly bassy, not V
Past - Meelec A151 and Klipsh S4-II
Music - Variety of techno
When the A151s broke, I ordered the S4s and a new jack. Was pleased when jack worked and hated Klipsh's flat cable. Now the jack is broken again and I'm looking for new buds. I'm reposting from yesterday in an attempt to get more opinions.
I've been looking around this sub, and I've whittled my list down to these, with durability being the advice I'm searching for:
IEMs:
Monoprice 8320- Heard they sounded great for the price, but it's the price and the gimmicky chrome plastic that has me worried.Cans:
Creative Aurvana Live!- Read that they're weak as paper, and a bit pricey for me.Monoprice 8323- Numerous reports of the headband cracking and losing one side of sound.Superlux HD 681Very well sounding for the price range, but also very leaky.Again, I'm looking for price, but durability is currently more important.
Superlux
Monoprice
Koss
The three cans I've been looking at, but I'm open to more recommendations:
Basically looking for affordable, balanced but with good bass, isolated, comfortable for hour+ listening, and decent for travel.

Budget - £30 or less
Source - Ipod Nano, Nexus 5 and Laptop
Requirements for Isolation - Mainly use them while travelling (cycling, walking or bus), other than that I don't think I need isolation, but up for any advice on that
Preferred Type of Headphone - On ear
Preferred tonal balance - Bit of a basshead, but balanced is also good.
Past headphones - I've had the JVC HAM5X's for 2 years now, but seeing as I've broken a soldered the cable back together more time than I can remember it might be time to replace them. What I liked most about them is that they have rather larger pads that pretty much surrounded my ears.
Preferred Music - Nothing specific but if I had to be general there does seem to be a lot of bass.
Location - England
I've checked the headphone buying guide and like the look of:
But I'm up for any advice or suggestions as I've used the same pair for 2 years and haven't got much experience
The Monoprice 8323:
https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-108323-Headphone-Gold-Plated-Accessories/dp/B007SP2CO2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1519274379&sr=8-1&keywords=monoprice+8323
Then, when your pocket fills up, replace the pads. I believe HM5 pads will fit.
Then, when your pocket fills up, replace the cable. Look at Vmoda.
I've got some monoprice over ear style headphones which I plug into my Scarlett Solo, and they're pretty good. Nice and cheap too. They come with a 1/4 inch to 1/8 inch adapter in the box, and pair of cables (1.5m and 3m).
They're exceptionally good headphones for the cost of them. I managed to pick a pair up for £10 ($17?) a few years back and have used them ever since.
Amazon UK link because, well I'm in the UK -> http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B007SP2CO2/
Been using these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007SP2CO2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They are good value for what I paid but they are getting old and im looking to upgrade.
Budget: Would like to keep it at 300 or less.
Source: Surface Pro 3 or desktop. Willing to buy an amp if it would make a noticeable difference.
Isolation: I live in a dorm so decent isolation would be preferred. But I do not want to sacrifice too much comfort because I will be doing long homework sessions with these on.
Preferred Type of Headphones: Full-size over ear.
Preferred tonal balance: Bass takes priority here. I listen to a lot of rap, Trap/EDM. However, I occasionally listen to rock/pop-punk so take that for what it is worth. But mostly edm/rap.
Thanks!
Ever heard of the Monoprice 8323? Pretty good headphones that are super cheap. If you end up getting them and find its a bit uncomfortable, i would suggest getting ear pads. I got the Beyerdynamic EDT 250 Velour Padded Earcushions and it made the headphones super comfy.
How do they compare to these

What about the Premiums? I was pretty impressed with them.

Very happy with these cheap over-the-hear headphonesones by Monoprice for video shoots.
Insanely durable, and they got a lot of attention for their sound quality in the audiophile world (for their price, at least).
Been lugging mine around for 3 years now and they still work great. Link above is a referral link.
Im looking for somewhat durable over-ear headphones since my last couple have become unstable due to frayed cables. My price range $20-60 and as long as there's decent bass it'll be fine for me.
Right now I'm looking at the Monoprice 108323 because it has detachable cables. I'd If there's something better in my price range sound-quality wise and or durability-wise.
If I end up going with the initial 50$ budget, which one of these would you suggest?

HEY GUYS LET'S GET INTO A DISCUSSION ABOUT HOW BAD BEATS ARE
even though they're universally hated shhhhh
Seriously though, I hate these things. They're pretty bad, and terrib;y overpriced. I use these and their quality is the best thing I've ever heard.
[Monoprice] (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Monoprice-Premium-Hi-Fi-Style-Headphone/dp/B007SP2CO2/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1375308640&sr=8-6&keywords=superlux), definitely. Would say the superlux, but apparently even those are expensive in the UK.
Yeah, I went with the over ear ones. When I used in-ear ones for a long time, I got some problems with my ears, so I'm kinda afraid that that would happen again. The overear ones are 16 pounds right now, original price of 64. I can't tell if they are really worth 64, or if its an endless sale to make it seem cheaper.

Referring to these correct?

Man...Im so torn...BIG head, large ears...Stuck between These, V-Moda Crossfade, or the Sennheiser HD599...The HeadphoneAmp/Dac i have is the Original AstroMixAMP Version 1...Currently Using these Monoprice Premium HiFi.
I would think ANY of the above listed headphones would certainly be an upgrade...I love me some bass and ONLY play FPS games..Suggestions//Thoughts on these assuming you use these headphones in that kind of situation.

I was thinking of buying Monoprice 108323 premium and a vmoda
Are these compatible? I don't like doing mods myself, so hopefully I'm correct in assuming these are compatible. (3.5mm on both?).
If you have any other recommendations for headphones that would be great.
Closed headphones are best to block out noise.
http://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-108323-Headphone-Gold-Plated-Accessories/dp/B007SP2CO2
I'm using these but will likely get something with metal construction and better padding. It's a good option if you aren't sure about closed designs.
Budget: $40
Source: Laptop/Computer/Android Device
Headphone Requirements: Over Ear - Closed - Detachable Cable
Tone: Balanced
Use: Art Studio - Cafe
Isolation: Alien - No Preference
Type of Music: Preference for Orchestrated Soundtracks and voice recording.
Previous Headphones: Cheap $15 ones that either developed faulty wires or snapped where the earpiece connects to the headband.
What I'm looking for in a new pair: Detachable Cable (looking to get a 3ft for casual listening and 8+ for in-studio listening), foldable, sturdy build. large fit for my large head.
Currently looking at:
Sennheiser HD 202 -
Monoprice -
Sentey Thorx
I can't find professional (or trustworthy) reviews of Sentey products, heard iffy things about Monoprice, and the Sennheiser I've heard good things about but the HD 202 doesn't have detachable cables.
Heres what you need:
OVER THE EAR HEADPHONES WITH A DETATCHABLE CABLE
I was using earbuds from everyone, skull candy lasts 2 weeks, dollar store lasts a week, apple lasted 4 weeks.
But I literally was buying earbuds in bulk until I found the holy grail.
http://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-108323-Headphone-Gold-Plated-Accessories/dp/B007SP2CO2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1452887028&sr=8-2&keywords=monoprice+headphones
I've never had to replace them because any time they get snagged, the cord just falls out.
But just in case, I keep about 5 back up 3.5 to 3.5 cords in my gym bag.
Model doesn't matter, what matters is that they are modular. make sure the cord is not permanently attached so you can easily replace that for like 50 cents on aliexpress.com (order a few in advance so you don't have to tap out at the gym)
Which one of these would give me the best sound quality (mainly mids) and comfort for long gaming sessions (~3h)?
Or any other suggestions?
Budget: <£40
Isolation: Open, but I don't mind.
Past headphones: Gamecom 788 headset (broken) - I found the sound quality to be very good.
Size: Over-ear
Preferences: Longevity and comfort.
Thanks :)

Wireless means alot to , i like my MEE M9P Earbuds but the wires are extremeley annoying especially in winter, im thinking wireless headphones, i dont know alot about sound , but i do know my current headphones sound decent, are these wireless ones ok? or should i go wired for the quality of sound, but i really want to go wireless as well as long as the sound is on par with 10$ panasonic earbuds per se.

A typo is what that is. You'd think OP would catch that since this is like the dozenth time this has been posted.
I think that for the amount of money you'd spend building them, you'd be able to buy a much better pair. I've got a pair of these that I'm happy with
If you're okay with sound leaking into the room/don't need to worry about sound bothering others, either the Superlux HD681 or the Koss KSC75.
If sound leakage is an issue, either the Monoprice 8323 or the JVC HAS400B.
The Monoprice 108323 http://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-108323-Premium-Hi-Fi-Headphone/dp/B007SP2CO2 are your best friends.
Are you trolling me or aren't you in the US if your prices are that much higher?
Edit: Accidently linked the same headphone twice.
Monoprice 8323. Headband can be a little uncomfortable but they sound great and the you can get a cheap cushioned wrap for the band.

Hmmm, not really sure there, I haven't purchased JUST headphones in a long time. I asked a friend and he was pretty impressed with these
He is a DJ by profession as well edit
I mean, they're cheap but they have some really nice sound and pretty good reviews. Even if you don't like them, not a huge loss
Get a pair of headphone with a detachable cord and pair it with the V-Moda Boom Pro. My current daily driver is this: https://www.amazon.ca/Monoprice-108323-Premium-Hi-Fi-Headphone/dp/B007SP2CO2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1414409695&sr=8-1&keywords=Monoprice+108323+Premium+Hi-Fi+DJ+Style+Over-the-Ear+Pro+Headphone
And with the Boom Pro, it's a perfect pairing with no inconvenience. You can always unplug the microphone when you don't need it and use it as a regular pair of headphones.
I know this is a really low budget, but I'm a college student so here it goes...
Budget $30; flexible.
Source: PC/iPad
Isolation: Some. Mostly for home use, but it'd be best if it had some noise isolation.
Preferred type of headphone: On or Over-Ear, I've never tried full-sized.
Tonal balance: mid-range
Past headphones: amateur here. iPhone earphones, Energy System earphones... So nothing that counts here I guess.
Preferred music: Symphonic metal (think Nightwish, Epica?), electronic, pop, rock... Bass is not my main interest, though I like a strong one.
Location: Costa Rica, though I usually buy online (Amazon, eBay, Threadless) and have it sent to a company that ships it to me (this extra shipping is apart from the provided budget).
EDIT:
Some options I've seen, but I don't know if they're actually any good:
AmazonBasics
Sony MDRZX100 ZX Series
Monoprice 108323
I've looked at the ATH-M20x, Sennheiser HD 419s, and Monoprice 108323s, but I don't necessarily know how portable/sturdy the builds of each are. I'd also like a pair that's fairly comfortable (marked out the ATH-SJ55s for what I heard about their band). I'm open to all suggestions though.

Budget - 150 NZD including shipping so about 15-30 for shipping but would be happy with a cheaper one if good value for money
Source - phone
Requirements for Isolation - will be using in public and quiet locations
Preferred Type of Headphone - over ear(like hd598), closed back don't really want to disturb people with music
Preferred tonal balance - balanced I guessed? Not really fussed
Current headphones - sennheiser h598 cs. maybe a bit more base?
Preferred Music - usually 70s such as the 70s playlist from spotify
What would you like to improve on from your set-up - something that i can wear in noisy and quiet places without being disturbed too much or having others hear my music

Was orginally looking at these monoprice 8323 but wasn't really sure of much difference between the two styles. Open to other suggestions of headphones
Cheers
Nothing beats a good set of light weight headphones. I'm rocking the monoprice knockoffs since they have a better bass profile. Honestly though, I tried the m50x and can't tell a difference other than the extra bass when it comes to sound quality.

I'll check when I get home then reply for you. And yeah I agree! I think that's such an underrated capability for headphones. Also while we're on the subject you should check these out! http://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-108323-Headphone-Gold-Plated-Accessories/dp/B007SP2CO2
I just bought them for my girlfriend after reading a million great things about them. The sound guy on the youtube channel "Tested" was in a video they put out not too too long ago and all he did was rave about headphones. I learned a ton of shit from watching it, but I'm most glad that I learned of these headphones. Simply the best sound you're going to ever get out of headphones less than $50. Granted they aren't the best headphones ever, but to spend $27ish and get this kind of sound is simply unheard of for me. Perfect to give to a SO or good friend.
It's just US fashion companies marking their stuff up for the UK market.
See Levis, 501 original Jeans in the US are $47 in the UK they're £80.
We don't get screwed over as much for other things, see the Monoprice headphones in the US for $23.98; in the UK they're £17.59.
$23.98 = £15.07 (without VAT) = £18 (with VAT)
So it's actually a pretty good price, considering tax isn't bundled into the US price.
I currently use a logitech G340 with the 7.1 SS turned on for gaming. But for video recording and production (nothing too extreme), I would like a headphone to use the mic with. For not much more than 50 dollars (the less the better), what is a good one that works well with glasses, and has a flat spot to attach the mic?
The only recommended one was this, and it seems a little cheap for me: http://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-108323-Premium-Hi-Fi-Headphone/dp/B007SP2CO2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1416365837&sr=8-1&keywords=Monoprice+8323&pebp=1416365857942
As far as removable cable in your price range with a 4Star Rating on Amazon, this was the best I could find. I cannot myself vouch for the quality, as I have no experience with it.
You may however gain advantage from using a Mic+headset instead.. here You can look at a couple of options in the price range of 60$; The Corsair Void is honestly pretty good.
I recently bought a cheap Monoprice headphone. I also got a new sound card that has built in amp. My question is, do I have to plugin my headphones directly to the card to utilize the amp? I'm new to all this so I am not exactly sure of the benefits. Would it be fine for me to plug my headphones into my speakers instead?
For under 20 bucks? These look pretty nice. https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=8323&gclid=Cj0KCQjwhoLWBRD9ARIsADIRaxRr1D0WZ7WYM_LiH0cpmThNjax9y3lpQQhAg09TI84VGhOIiXYktbwaAsg9EALw_wcB
EDIT: Here they are on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-108323-Headphone-Gold-Plated-Accessories/dp/B007SP2CO2?th=1
I am looking for headphones to replace my Sennheiser HD 205. I picked them up on a whim when at Fry's, and they lasted 4 months of being permanently in my computer, and almost being babied; now there is a problem with the wire and I have to fiddle with it near where it connects to the headset. Before them I had a pair of N-Tune by Monster, on those the headband snapped from normal putting on and taking off.
I am looking to get headphones that are circum-aural, decent sound (not an audiophile; Skype, mumble, netflix, video games are key points for me.), and STURDY (I have a big head). Budget is <$75. I will not be using them while traveling, so portability is a non issue; using a computer. Isolation is a non issue my house is pretty quiet. A removable wire would be preferable, so if an issue like the one I am experiencing happens I might be able to just get a new wire and not have to get them repaired or replaced.
I am considering:
Creative Aurvana Live Headphones ($68) (Sort of worried about the swivel being a breaking point)
Superlux HD668B ($28) (From buying guide I am a bit worried about comfort in long sessions)
AKG K 240 ($70)
Monoprice 8323($34)
Any input on these, or others you have enjoyed would be appreciated (especially if you have a large head; My hat size is 7 3/4)
In the sticky from yesterday the K240s were recommended, and are my top consideration right now. For them I am now wondering what the wire type is, so I can buy a backup but that's a future concern.
Edit: Working to get them in a nicer looking format, for now bolded the required information.
I'm late to the party and breaking format, oh well.
I'm on the $30 budget and thinking about the Bluedio Turbine T2s
and the Monoprice Pro Studio DJ
Hi!
I've never cared much about headphones... Until recently. I've gotten into searching for the best deals I can find on Amazon, and so far have been looking at some pairs like these and these.
I don't want to sacrifice anything else for isolation, but if it's there, I don't mind.
Budget: ~$30
Source: Mainly iPod, iPhone, Computer
Req for Isolation: Definitely need some isolation. Will be used on the bus and at school.
Pref Type of Headphone: Not IEM. Full sized or over ear.
Pref Tonal Balance: Overall balanced pair sounds good, but don't really have preference.
Past headphones: Cheap IEMs that go for <$10. Always managed to break headphones even the more expensive ones.
Pref Music: None in particular. Listen to a variety of genres.
Location: US
Trying to help a friend buy headphones using many of the links in this amazing sub! We've been looking over these two in particular,
Monoprice 8323 and
Philips CitiScape Downtown
I picked up https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007SP2CO2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Today, and they are pretty nice for immersion as compared to https://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDRAS200-Active-Sports-Headphones/dp/B00BN0N08K/ref=sr_1_6?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1467061572&sr=1-6&keywords=sony+ear+phones

is this ok?
https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-108323-Headphone-Gold-Plated-Accessories/dp/B007SP2CO2
how is this compared to the superlux hd668b?
Budget: $40usd hard limit
Source: PC (board specs) and occasionally via my phone.
Requirements for Isolation: At home, don't wanna disturb parents sleeping upstairs though.
Will you be using these Headphones in Public?: Rarely, if ever.
Preferred Type of Headphone: Full-Sized, Circumaural, wired, active.
Past headphones: SteelSeries Siberia V2 - I don't game anymore however, and my interests have shifted more towards higher audio quality (without a need for a mic for example).
Preferred tonal balance: Not sure about this one..I'm guessing neutral/balanced?
Preferred Music: Vocal/progressive trance, alternative rock, hard rock, and occasionally classical.
What would you like to improve on from your set-up: I'd like a taste of the audiophile life, and if possible, detachable cables :)
Thinking about:
Which one should I get (with your experience/reasoning)? Am I missing any other great ones?
It's probably not worth it just for the 7.1. Tho i have heard the 780 is more comfortable. A pair of headphones and a clipon mic would give 3x sound quality tho. Go for it if you want, just seems stupid imo.

You could also look after used headphones. I found a pair of [Sennheiser 518] (http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-518-Headphones-Black/dp/B0042A68R8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1372478808&sr=8-1&keywords=518) for about 50$~
Finding a used pair of 555 or 558and doing the [foam mod] (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvQ8PzBrHXE) is by FAAAR the best value ~~
Thanks for the contest. It's making me think where I'll be in a couple of months. Hopefully with a part-time job or internship. :P Here's what I want.
I also want pictures when you come back, lots and lots of pictures.

These are also pretty good.
Is this the same as this link on amazon? Monoprice 108323 Premium Hi-Fi DJ Style Over-the-Ear Pro Headphone Bundle with 3.5mm to 1/4-Inch Gold-Plated Adapter Plug and Accessories (5 Items) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007SP2CO2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_ABybAbH6BRHK1
Nope, please never buy a gaming headset. Pick up THIS and THIS and get some half decent audio for the same price.
Gaming headsets are shit headphones slammed onto a shit microphone, with some nice aesthetics and a high price tag for what they are.
Far from it, actually. They appear to be rebranded Kicker headphones with massive 50mm drivers and plenty of headroom. Check them out here: https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-108323-Headphone-Gold-Plated-Accessories/dp/B007SP2CO2
once you go black you never go backMonoprice has a very good pair of headphones and then I have a Zalman clip on mic. Cost about $35 together. UK links for the headphones and for the mic.
Headphones are excellent, especially for the price. They also have the cable separate easily from the headphones, eliminating my #1 headphone failure.
Mic is decent, clips on to headphone cable. Works fine, a little expensive in the UK and you can probably find a cheaper clip on mic, but this one is definitely good.
Those are 29 if that's not too much?

I saw this model in amazon:
https://www.amazon.fr/Monoprice-108323-casque/dp/B007SP2CO2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1484779890&sr=8-1&keywords=Monoprice+8323
Is this the same model? I guess yes but still wanna ask you to be sure.
Thanks.
If you are still looking for budget headphones, try Monoprice headphones. They are on the cheaper side but I've had mine for years and they work great!

Yeah people on 4chan seem to recommend the monoprice over the m20x too, I guess i'll get that instead as its cheaper. Is this them btw? I cant find anything with 8323 in the name on amazon but this is the first result
Monoprice 8323s are also a great durable headphone for the price. Basically a poor man's M50s.
Something like this with a microphone...

Something like this that cost less?
