Steel Diver, a decent submarine combat game from Nintendo.

Scribblenauts Unlimited - A good entry in a solid game series.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars, a good strategy-RPG.

Also, regular DS games (which play on the 3DS). Unlike 3DS games, DS games are not region-sensitive, so you can play imports just fine on your US system, too:

Elite Beat Agents - Probably the best music-rhythm game on the DS.

Rhythm Heaven - Another very good music-rhythm game, albeit more in the abstract.

Sonic Colors and Sonic Rush - Surprisingly good Sonic games.

Mama's Combo Pack - I've never played Camping Mama, but Cooking Mama is a great series of food-themed touchscreen minigames.

Geometry Wars: Galaxies - A great space shooter

WarioWare DIY - A fun entry in Nintendo's "microgame" series, with a "custom build it yourself" twist.

N+ - A simple, but extremely fun and challenging, ninja platformer game.

Pac Pix - A fun arcadey game where you draw Pac-Man to eat ghosts.

Jam Sessions and its sequel - Not a game as much as a tool to create music. Still, very good.

Bust-A-Move DS - A surprisingly good version of this classic puzzle game series with touchscreen support.

Polarium DS - A good, if simple, puzzle game.

Touchmaster, More Touchmaster, Touchmaster Connect and Touchmaster 3 - Good minigame collections.

Pipe Mania - A decent take on the old "Pipe Dream" puzzle game.

It's supercute. It's a sequel to Okami (if you haven't played that, you need to. it's been released on a bunch of different systems, but originally for ps2).

In Okamiden, basically you are a wolfpup son of a goddess, and you travel around the land and learn special powers with the help of friends. Your powers are the ability to paint/draw (with your tail!) on the world to different effects--if you draw a line across enemies, you slash them, if you draw a circle around dead trees, you bring them back to life...stuff like that. And your friends have different abilities and help you solve puzzles to complete dungeons and defeat enemies.

It's a really charming game. Even though it is for DS, I will forever recommend it, because the gameplay utilizes the touchscreen SO WELL, and it is just adorable, really fun, and so so sweet. I totally cried at the end. <3

There are some tie-ins to the original game that you may miss if you haven't played it, but nothing that will prevent you from enjoying Okamiden on its own.

It is probably one of my favorite games on the DS family of systems. Top 5 for sure. It's very good.

Edit: It also has a silly sense of humor and doesn't take itself too seriously, which I appreciate. There are lots of lighthearted moments and dumb groaner jokes peppered throughout. • Have fun bulletin boards. I'm talking things like secret boards and poetry boards. Upperclassmen are pretty much beyond hall rules, except maybe a bulletin board of rules for the first couple of weeks as a gentle reminder.
  
  
• Try to gentle encourage your residents to interact with each other. We have a beginning of the year wing meeting that's mandatory. At that event, have each resident fill out an index card (great time to collect any health information you might need, like allergies), and include some events they'd like to take part in. That way, you'll host at least one event they're interested in!
  
  
• Recognize birthdays! No matter how old we get, we like when people wish us a happy birthday. Maybe with a door dec and a little goody bag. :)
  
  
• Remember that your room is your office, too. Have your door open as often as possible, and keep it clean in there. Be available - older students will come to you if they need you, but only if you're accessible.
  
  
• Recognize the fact that shit happens. Not everything is going to go smoothly - a lot of upperclassmen like to test their boundaries with the RA. Don't be a dick, but don't be afraid to stand your ground. All in all, you're still "in charge."
  
  DON'T!
  
  
• Force your residents to interact with each other. I make a facebook page for my wing, and post things about wing events, etc. on there. Wing Meetings are mandetory, but things like decorating the wing Christmas tree, playing Apples to Apples or spa night aren't forced.
  
  
• Overwhelm them (or yourself) with activities. There's no need to have a game night every week.
  
  
• Be the room check Nazi. People are going to break rules, that's a fact. If they're smart enough to do it without getting caught, power to them. Don't be that RA that likes to check for violations randomly through-out the week.
  
  
• Demand that your residents be friends with you. Some of my best friends have been residents of mine, but you aren't guaranteed to get along with everyone. Don't force yourself upon them at every meal.

I am saving up to buy a Nintendo 3DS! Purple, of course! =D

I am a full time university student, and I am often on the go. I live at home, and although I have lots of friends, I am an only child. My friends have siblings, and they're usually the ones with consoles, so there's not really any need for me to get one. I also go travelling quite often, so really, handheld gaming systems are always the best for me! I had a Gameboy Color growing up (the see-through purple one!), and then I received a DS for Christmas many years later when they first came out. I love the DS system, and I think the 3DS has SO many good games out and coming out for it! And don't forget, it's also going to have the new Super Smash Bros., now!! I AM SO EXCITED!! =D

Animal Crossing: Wild World: It's an amazing game and was one of my first games on a Nintendo DS. There's so much to do in the game and I would really recommend it. Also, the more recent Animal Crossing (New Leaf) is a huge improvement from Wild World. I would deeply recommend that aswell, but it's for 3DS.

Harvest Moon: Sunshine Islands: Harvest Moon is a game that's similar to Animal Crossing but it's mostly about looking after your farm, growing crops, raising animals, etc. It's extremely fun and a huge time sink.

Pokemon Black 2: It's a Pokemon game, you can't really go wrong. It's like every other Pokemon game - Fun as heck! You can also buy Pokemon White 2 which is just about the same with little differences like the UI. A list of differences can be found HERE.

My list may not really be descriptive as they're my personal opinion on the games, but if you want to know more about the games, ask me :)

August huh. I never used to think about it much. As a kid I was always preoccupied because it was the summer holidays and I would be too busy playing and doing to notice the date and month.

It was usually the month we'd go on holiday to Cyprus, as my mum likes it hot. Therefore there are memories of befriending people. Of having a traditional Cypriot dinner round a receptionists house because we became good friends with her and her sister. Being given oodles of cake and playing with the mini Doberman and the chinchilla.

It's also the month where I lost my appendix abroad one year and got to visit Egypt briefly the next. Cairo museum is amazing, I can't quite believe I got to see tutankhamun's death mask in person and stand on one of the great pyramids.

It is also the month where I got to visit Knossos and explore an otherwise closed archeological dig on Crete.

Now we don't have such exciting holidays, but it's the month I get to visit my boyfriend. We're both perpetual students and live together during term, but can't afford to during the summer so off to our respective home we go. Luckily his birthday is early August which is the best excuse for me to visit and it breaks up the holidays nicely. =D

A purple 3DS.

OK OK so back when the 3DS was ~new, I saved my pennies somehow and bought the first edition one. I played the hell out of it. Then, my fiance proposed to me and I was engaged and then it was Christmastime - almost December - and I was out of money. I sold my 3DS because I wanted to get him a nice gift, so it went on eBay and I got some money. I bought him a couple of video games!

November 28th, he breaks up with me. Takes the ring back, I move out of our house we share.

I went from happy with a 3DS to miserable with no 3DS.

Now I have a wonderful relationship but I sorely miss my 3DS. The good news is that now there is a purple one! I had 3/4 of my fund saved up for the purple beauty, but then fleas came out of nowhere in my house and I had to take that Turk money and put it toward caring for my cat. (I had to bomb, treat the cat, he never goes outside so it was just a hot mess all around).

Now my fund is back up to like $10 but I feel like I am just never going to get there. So this would be great for my life, lol.

TL;DR: Had a 3DS. Loved it. Sold it to buy my fiance a Christmas present. He dumped me right after I sold it. Had the funds to buy a new one. Had to use them to heal my sick cat. Sadness. Saving Private Ryan

I am 100% in love with the whole Zelda series. Those were some of the first games I beat all the way to the end, and the story lines are all wonderful. I'd say my favorites of those have to be Skyward Sword and Ocarina of Time. Such wonderful stories, super fun dungeons, interesting items, just great games all around! :D

As for what I'd want from Amazon, I'm gonna have to go with Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. It's the only Kingdom Hearts game I haven't had the opportunity to play, and I desperately want to. I intend to get 1.5 Remix the day it's available, but watching a cinematic just isn't the same as actually playing the game for myself. <3

Not exactly what you were asking for, but this one seems pretty good. Separate compartment for a 3DS, separate compartment for a charger, space for 12 games and two styli. You can probably fit a few more games too if you double them by space or get a more flexible game card case not made of bulky plastic (Penguin United used to have some, but they're apparently out of stock).

Alternatively, Hori is going to launch a Pokemon trio of cases that seems like it'll carry a lot, but that hasn't come out yet and doesn't have a lot of details. Here's the link anyway:

As a former 2ds owner, if you're totally fine with potential lag in terms of loading times (for example, when you boot up pokemon S&M it takes a pretty long time), and 3D is not a must, then I say go for it. for me even upgrading to a new 3ds, i rarely use 3D.

Sure, a new 3DS has better performance, 3D effects, can fold, and amiibo support, but to me those are all just pluses or luxuries, not necessities. It can also play games like Monster Hunter and the upcoming FE Warriors game, but those aren't really must have titles imo

Battery life is pretty similar. in terms of comfort, I got this exact case.
I never would feel comfortable putting even a new 3DS in my pocket anyway so carrying it in my backpack was no biggie. Holding it is no problem either. Actually, when I held a new 3ds it felt so weird cuz I was so used to holding my 2ds.

tl;dr go for the 2ds bundle. you won't regret it. if you really want a new 3ds save up money for when a really good deal comes out in the future on black friday or something.

Not sure how underrated but Harvest Moon games. Yes, they're very tedious but they are also relaxing and really games that make you feel happy because of its simplicity.

Also, WarioWare games. They are SO much fun.

I bought the Skinomi Full Body Screen Protector for my 3DS. I read a lot of the reviews and heard mostly positive stuff. A very small number of people claimed that it could damage the 3DS, but from my experience, possible damage is not an issue. Although application was tedious because of a lack of a diagram, all of the panels applied evenly and without much issue. Now my entire 3DS is protected and has a nice light sheen to it.

If you just care about the screens, then there's also a Skinomi variant that just has the protectors for the screens. A lot of people like the HORI protectors too, although personally I can't say whether or not they are good. Hope this helps, and I hope you find what you are looking for.

My favorite game is... probably Animal Crossing at the moment. But I love Tetris, the various Zelda games, puzzle games, Sim games, and the latest Pokeyman game.

If you pick me, I'd love to own Picross 3DS. I loved Picross on the DS.

There's no issues you have to deal with a used Wii U, since if you can just erase the system data once you get it and make your own nintendo ID account. If you get it refurbished from Nintendo's website, then it's probably already done for you, and from what I've heard it runs well since when they're refurbishing they replace most of the components with new replacements anyway.


Sadly titles on the Wii U, don't go for sale frequently at least not first party. Usually Capcom, and others are good for digital sales, I think they had Monster Hunter 3U for the Wii U on sale recently for 13.59. You usually have to look to retail for better prices on older games, such as Super Mario World 3D(which imo is the best 3D mario game as of now) is selling for $20 through the Nintendo selects program. I'm getting a New 3DS XL for X-mas so I was in the same boat as you, on google/reddit/amazon/youtube I was looking to see what I should get. Here's what I ultimately decided on:

Late to the party but I recently bought this case for my girlfriend. Really dig it. Snug fit for my n3ds xl with a clear Hori protector on it, but it can still hold games and the 3ds with ease. Tons of room for her n3ds (not xl) with a clear Hori protector on it.

I did a little bit of searching and found two possible sources (I actually got my copy of Etrian Odyssey III recently this past March on eBay).

Don't include the ROMs, and you're golden. Really though, since the SNES/NES patents have been dead, there are plenty of decent clones available already...and they're portable. I have the SupaBoy and it's pretty neat and I've heard really good things about the PokeFAMI DX but I believe it can only play Super Famicom games.

[EDIT] Actually it looks like they sell a version of it without an OS? So maybe you can do whatever with it.

I had to sell my 3ds I got as a gift and all of the games to pay for rent a year or two ago. I had a buch of games good games (Tetris ds being my favorite) and I only got $120 for it. I am not as strapped for cash as I was, but I don't have 3ds money. I would like to have one again because I miss being able to play games like I use to.

The charging cable can use any usb power source and fits nicely into the case. It's great, especially if you already have a bunch of phone chargers around. Streamline things a bit. The case will also fit some earbuds and 8 games. I tried to find the smallest possible case that fits a 3DS, charger, earphones, and games. This case will fit an XL or regular size but it's really not that big. Also, that cable comes with a microfiber cloth as an added bonus.

2D Tetris won't benefit from 3D as anything more than gimmickry anyhow. 3D Tetris I'd actually like to see first; in my experience the primary challenge of 3D Tetris is not the fact that you are looking at a 2D screen but that you have to hold in your memory where the holes are because no matter what angle you are looking at, some stuff is obscured. "Real" 3D won't actually change that, unless you can work something really clever out with transparency, which I would love to see someone try.

I just got Picross 3D today. Logged 5 hours straight, watched the premiere of Breaking Bad, then played another 3 hours. My hands are now crippled. Best puzzle game I've played aside from Tetris.

Don't let the name trick you into thinking it was made for the 3DS, though. It doesn't have 3D capability. It deals with puzzles in 3 dimensions, contrary to its predecessor, Picross.

I have a 3DS XL, New 3DS XL, and a 2DS. I find myself playing some of my cartridge-based games on my 2DS from time to time. It's a very comfortable system to hold. I also have a neoprene pouch to store and carry it in. While I prefer the New 3DS XL, you can't really go wrong with the 2DS.

American here: When I went to the UK I brought along a USB to 3DS charging port cable. While the chargers themselves use either 110v or 220v, the system itself needs 4.6v to charge. USB ALWAYS delivers 5v of power and the .4v isn't enough to harm the system. Therefore, since my laptop's power supply worked with 110 AND 220v, I just brought my laptop, (foreign power adapter for the tip), and USB cables to charge our phones and 3DS.

What do you mean you missed it? You can buy any DS game and play them on the 3ds. The DS cartridges fit into the 3ds without issue, it's completely backwards compatible with pretty much all DS titles.

I traded mine in and they required the charger. Unfortunately it looks like Gamestop's trade in policy requires the charger. However, if you want to go with a usb charger, they are super cheap!

I have THIS on my Zelda edition 3DSXL. It's a very thick vinyl and stays on the 3DS really well. It was a pain to get the corners done but well worth it. For less than $20, you can't go wrong.

It works relatively well. I've never done exact testing on it, but it usually can charge my phone (Galaxy S3) to 100% from almost no battery, and then still have some juice left over. It's charges somewhat slowly, but that's not much of a concern for me.

Since it can pretty much charge anything that uses USB, It will probably also work with a 3DS if you end up getting a USB charger for the 3ds. The stock charger that comes with the 3ds isn't USB, so you'll need to get something like this if you don't already have one.

If you can find it, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon for DS is also very good, and pretty accessible. Unfortunately, it's really gone up in price over the years.

I ordered this. I really liked the Skinomi skin for my phone, so I thought I would give the full 3DS skin a shot :P.

It isn't thick like a traditional case; it is a clear plastic protector that is applied to the whole body of the device. The application method definitely keeps bubbles to a minimum/ non existent (which I had problems with when applying other similar screen protectors/ skins).

This Skinomi skin does not cover corners.

This one partially covers corners, but still leaves big gaps on the edges.

It's also far easier to do partial-corners when you're doing simple patterns, not actual images.

I prefer the Retro Duo Portable. Because, well, its portable. Plays SNES straight into the system, NES with adapter (comes with purchase) and Genesis games with adapter (sold separately)

Event Pokémon are limited time Pokémon and back on the DS I had a gameshark to hack in any event Pokémon that I didn’t have. Some of these event Pokémon caused special things to happen in the games like unlocking the ability to catch the Regi trio in HGSS or Spikey Eared Pichu.

This is more about experiencing something again and realizing that in order to do so with what I have I’d have to literally erase the old saves, not about getting a living dex.

Also in terms of “buy a new copy of old games”, digital ones from Nintendo are one thing, but this is just ridiculous

I use this one and really like it. It fits my XL, has a spot for a charger and 12 game slots. But I think it's unlikely for there to be many cases that only fit regular N3DS, especially since they would be losing a lot of potential money from people with XLs whereas if they made it a bit bigger they could get both markets.

And finally the worst example, and the game that many people want to play, is the English version of HeartGold and SoulSilver. Price fluctuates around $100 for new and used English games.
