Top Reddit comments about Nintendo 3DS & 2DS Cases & Storage:

u/MattKimura · 2 pointsr/3DS

I personally love my 3DS, and I'm into protecting it in every way I can. So here's how my 3DS is setup.

What I use for my 3DS, is a skin (These not only protect from scratches, but they transform your 3DS into something new, as if you got a limited edition 3DS.) The best skins are from DecalGirl.

I then have a hard case, that I got for $5 on Amazon. It does a good job to keep my 3DS in a case, so it won't be sitting out getting dusty and ready to be dropped. It also helps when traveling, to keep my 3DS in a shell. This is the one I use: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009E0QO8O/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have an EA sports carry bag that my friend gave me, it holds my 3DS in the card case, and my 3DS games (I have that club nintendo game card case). But this bag is pretty old xD Still useful though!

I forgot to mention, screen protectors! Important, and worth getting. You MUST put these on before putting on a skin. These are the ones I have for my XL: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008ZAZ9KI/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Now to enhance my 3DS experience, I got a Supercard DSTwo to expand it's capabilities. Now I can play GBA, SNES, GBC, NES games all on my 3DS. As well as any DS game. It also allows you to view images and videos~

My last protection, is myself. I ALWAYS KNOW where my 3DS is at all times. I always return it to the hard case, and put it in my carry case when I finish playing. Knowing where everything is can save you in the future. Don't be someone who leaves their 3DS at a movie theater like my friend did.

One final tip is battery saving. Back then, my Gameboy Advance SP lasted more than 4 years long, but the battery gave up on me. I'd always abuse it by charging it over and over, even when it was on 100%. It only needs one charge, just don't disturb the charging and let it complete itself. You never have to worry about it overcharging, it automatically disconnects when full.
You may want to use a lower brightness, and turn 3D off, as a bright screen with 3D is a battery killer! Also, playing online consumes more battery, so definitely be sure 3D and brightness is down when playing online. Having the wireless switch on also consumes just a bit, but not worth turning off.

I hope this helps you =)

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me anytime you want :3

Here's a video of my 3DS skin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwcuws3_RWI

*Excuse the anime girl in the video, I was being experimental xD

I use TPU cases for both of my N3DSXL's and another one I had to special order from overseas for my N3DS. They do a good job of protecting the systems and still allow me to see the designs on them since I wanted something clear as I have Monster Hunter faceplates on my black N3DS looks like this, and my XLs are the Galaxy Blue and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate units.

For carrying around, I have an Amazon Basics Case that is small and light and fits in a backpack or purse easily while protecting the whole system. Fits both N3DS and N3DSXL units with the TPU cases on and uses the elastic bands to hold them in place.

For storing at home so they're kept in good shape: I have two of the Smatree Hard Protective Carrying Case which is a much bulkier case, and allows me to keep a 3DS charger with the units if I don't put much else in the zippered pouch on the top half. The inner pouch with the ability to lift it out is an interesting design for keeping the system protected and is a snug fit for N3DSXL's with the TPU case on, but still doable.

Amazon Link for HORI N3DSXL TPU case. It used to be much cheaper, so look around to find the best price.

Amazon Link for the Japanese version HORI N3DSXL TPU case. This alternate link is about half the price for the same exact product that's above.

eBay link for a New 3DS TPU case. I recommend this for N3DS units as the glossy plates are easy to scratch on N3DS units and the plates can be hard to get as it is, don't want them to get scratched when they're hard to find or expensive.

Finally, no matter what unit you get: Always use a screen protector and get one once you decide which system to get to have it ready for when you finally get your system. Some people have waited on getting protectors and have scratched screens day one since the plastic over the touch screen is quite soft.

New 3DS IllumiShield Screen Protector Set

New 3DS XL Tempered Glass Protector Set Note: I have used and recommend the HORI brand, but those seem to be out of stock on Amazon and I'm not sure where to look for it.

Then, there's also GRIPS for the units as they're quite small and thin and quite a few people have problems holding their units. I like the styles from CyberGadget and use their grips, but there's also silicone grips that some people like. You can take off the TPU case on the bottom and put the grip on and just store the TPU case somewhere as you use the top half of the TPU case to protect the top shell of your unit. Obviously, any grip out there will bulk up your system and make them less portable and unable to fit in any of the cases. However if you're at home, it's nice to be more comfortable with your gaming sessions.

The two I'll link are my preferred grips for several reasons: They keep everything on the 3DS accessible as some of the grips are known for blocking off the game card slot and even the stylus, they have a game card door on the back that can store 2 game cards in there, they're easy to put on and take off, and won't scratch your system as they're covered in a rubberized material.

New 3DS Grip from CyberGadget You should be able to find it cheaper elsewhere.

New 3DS XL Grip V2 from CyberGadget I use this every day on the N3DSXL that I play.

I imagine that lots more will come out soon. Most accessories for 2DS XL you will be able to use the same as you used for the 3DS XL, so lots already out in that sense. (some items will still need to be 2DS XL Specific though).

To give you an example, I will show you a few from the same people I bought all my Nintendo Switch accessories from. (I check their accessories frequently, as the designs they use tend to be extremely well thought out in terms of what it's actually like to use them, and are often among the best quality for Nintendo stuff)

Orzly 2DS XL Travel Pouch: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0741RG6J9

What's nice about these is they seem to have matched the color schemes of the 2DS XL consoles themselves, they seem to have been designed specifically for the New 2DS XL model (but I'm willing to bet that they fit nearly every other model of DS/3DS/etc aswell, however I will let you know when I actually test one out). Originally I was tempted just to keep my 3DS XL pouch, but this one comes with slots for 16 or more games, and they seem to have done an excellent job of being very space efficient, plus I like how the top pocket is fully zippable on this one).

Orzly Travel Bag for Nintendo DS Consoles: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LXAP2PE

This type of accessory works for pretty much any model of DS (except the old 2DS apparently, probably because it was bigger) but they say it works with all the foldable lid models, and they do specifically state compatibility with 2DS XL, so these would undoubtedly work.

InvisiCase for 2DS XL: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B073V2RXNK

These ones will probably only fit the 2DS XL (and no other models) as they are shaped to the exact contours of the console, so would not be the same on other models. I'm not usually a fan of this style, as they aren't usually compatible with charging docks. That said, the 2DS XL doesn't seem to have a dock and uses the cable anyway, so probably not an issue this time around. Would be interesting to see if this one fits inside the Pouch. If anyone tries that combination let me know.

I often check their stuff and try out the ones I like, so I'l let you know if I see them bring anything else out, or if I roadtest any of these. ( the inviscase, I'm in two minds on, so we'll see. but the first one on this list I already have for my daughter's 3DS, so I can already vouch for those being excellent. The pouch I am about to order, so will let you know when it gets here, but I've got high hopes of for that one if it's anywhere near as good as the one they did for the Nintendo Switch.

UPDATE: Just found screen protectors pop up aswell..

The official is much more expensive but most people I know have this to protect the system. If you are looking for a platform we then the best are Donkey Kong, Super Mario 3D World, Cave Story, Shovel Knight and Super Mario Maker. My favorite of them all was problems 3D world or Mario Maker but it depends on your style. Watch some YouTube videos to find out what you like. Also if you like Metroidvania type platformers Metorid Samus Returns is good and so are the Virtual Console Castlevania games but you won’t be able to play the snes ones with a normal 2ds.

I've been going overboard with accessories. Here's what I picked up so far:

Glass screen protector - Just in case.

128GB microSD card - I rarely buy physical games

Pro Controller - I love it. So comfortable.

PowerA Hybrid Case - I basically use this as a stand for my Switch when I'm on the go.

JDeal portable dock - It works. Make sure to follow the instructions. Works with my Nexus5x 5v 3A portable charger.

[Retractable HDMI cable] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019J96PSI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

Hestia case - The Switch with the PowerA Hybrid Case, portable dock, portable USB-C charger, and retractable HDMI cable all fit in this.

USB 3.0 LAN Adapter - Faster speeds when on the official dock.

Gooseneck tablet holder - Ultimate comfort. Play while in bed.

Magic NS Wireless Adapter - I had originally bought this so I could use my PS4 controller. This was before I picked up the Pro Controller. It works. There was a recent firmware update that gives gyro support for PS4 controllers and it works well with Splatoon 2.

On the way:

Mumba case - For better comfort/protection while playing in handheld mode.

Wooo sexy fellow brother! We know have VERY rare peices of 3DS history as they are going to VERY much in demand and sought out with all the new Fire Emblem games coming out, and dual IPS screens on top if it! Be sure to get a protector for that thing ASAP!

This one is popular but I didn't like how easily it slide off 3DS on the corners and it was already yellow out the box

https://www.amazon.com/HORI-Duraflexi-Clear-Protector-Nintendo-NEW/dp/B00RZ7TC6Y/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1486253698&sr=8-2&keywords=3ds+protector

Love the HORI screen protectors, highly recommend to keep your IPS screens in top shape and protected

I prefer this case as it stays put on the 3DS and doesnt' yellow and shows the sexy design very well of FIre Emblem

For my "XL", I purchased this Crystal Case, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0093W7KG8/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 , I was only interested in the casing feature, but the fact that it felt comfortable and "stiffened" (not sure if that's a good word to use" the screen hinges made this purchase non-regrettable.

I'm not sure if this company has the exact casing for the 3DS, but I recommend looking at some YouTube videos of Crystal Casing, and hope for a video that helps you.

u/Votius · 3 pointsr/3DS

Hori TPU case for sure, they are great and wont scratch up the 3ds like other cases. This is the hori tpu case i have, the previously linked case is a harder tpu plastic.

skins you can get lots of places, depends on what you like. I have the zelda 3ds XL and it looks great through the clear hori tpu case, decals/ skins also come though great.

as for flash carts on the 3ds, read this thread from this subreddit

edit for cases

Omg can I make a DS suggestion? Pick up a copy of Animal Crossing! I play everyday, sometimes just five minutes and sometimes almost an hour! Every time I play it's like little space time and it's so much fun :)

Also, if you can, get a cute case for it. Mine is this one and it makes me smile, plus when I play it in public sometimes people compliment it hehe :3

u/queuebitt · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitchDeals

Those kind of products are more about convenience than being the best option.

You definitely want a screen protector. The amFilm 2-pack is considered the best around here.

You also want a carrying case. I recommend either the Hestia Goods or Butterfox models. I have the former and love it. The later is the most recommended around Reddit.

Between the screen protector and case from Amazon you're at the same $20 as the starter kit. So you can either get two high quality items, or more lower (but doable) quality items.

u/monkey484 · 2 pointsr/3DS

I have this case and I love it. It's clear so I can see my pretty LE system. It doesn't let the system close the the point of anything making contact with the screens. And it is very thin. the clear N3DSXL version does not have hinges that the other versions do, so you don't have to worry about them breaking. The case snaps in place and doesn't slide around at all.

Highly highly recommend. I can get a picture later if you'd like.

u/mpmarsee · 2 pointsr/3DS

Like I've mentioned in a similar thread, I have this case and it's great. A few good features are that it has enough slots for all the games I have (and allows for room to expand) and can carry the AC adapter. The best feature though is the pocket for the 3DS itself. I almost always carry just that removable pouch around (in my lunch bag when I go to work, in a cargo pocket on my shorts if I go out shopping or to the mall, etc.) with the 3DS and a couple games. If it's a longer road trip, I velcro it back into the main case and take the whole thing. I love it.

u/hellraiser29 · 1 pointr/3DS

I highly recommend the dreamgear comfort grip. I use the bottom half only and use a clear case for the top half so i can admire the top of the hyrul 3ds xl. They make it for both xl and original. If you look around on amazon or ebay, you can find them for a pretty good price.

u/NurseFlan · 4 pointsr/achappyhome

I have just a 3DSXL, I'm trying to wait for the white version for the New 3DSLL to come to NA :)
I bought the case on Amazon on Oct 2014, hopefully it's ok to link stuff in the comments! http://smile.amazon.com/CYBER-silicon-cover-3DS-LL-Nintendo/dp/B00CXM4MG6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1452389073&sr=8-1&keywords=nyan+pink+3ds+cover+case

It looks like they are starting to discontinue the older 3DS covers, I got mine for $18. There are other patterns available if you search Nyan Cyber 3DS for both the older and newer version on Amazon! Hope that helps!

u/ohgodimsodumb · 2 pointsr/3DS

I bought one from amazon, and it was decent quality, but it came with a few minor dings which I suspect could turn into quite a few more over time.

I had simultaneously purchased a Hori cover from amazon, and it is head and shoulders above the no-name aluminium one. The Hori feels semi-rubbery, and hugs the system really well, but was also relatively easy to take off. The generic aluminium one from amazon made me concerned about potential scratches from the gaps between the system and the case and it didn't seem to grip my device really well, especially the cover for the top.

u/SF218 · 4 pointsr/3DS

If you want maximum protection for your 3DS, the PDP NERF Armor is hands down your best bet. Keep in mind that it does make the 3DS a bit bulkier, but it essentially doubles as a carrying case.

3DS: http://www.amazon.com/PDP-3DS-NERF-Armor-Blue-Nintendo/dp/B005VO5ZU0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1372122295&sr=8-2

If you are generally very good about not damaging your system, and just want to minimize things like scratches and whatnot, I like the eForCity crystal case. It does the job without adding any extra bulk to your 3DS.

3DS: http://www.amazon.com/eForCity-Snap--Crystal-Compatible-Nintendo-3DS/dp/B004T0G8O4/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1372122648&sr=1-1

u/Chicken_McFaggots · 1 pointr/3DS

I bought these 2 items a long time ago and they've been awesome, very worthwhile purchases.

3DS XL Case (This looks awesome on my Red Pokemon Y 3DS): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0093W7KG8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Carrying Case (Fits 3DS XL with crystal case):

I recommend these to anyone looking for some good products at an affordable price.

Edit: Also, my crystal case hasn't turned yellow and I've had it for a year, so I recommend this over the Hori case + it's way cheaper.

u/baochan · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I planned to be digital-only, but came across a couple good deals on games that I don't necessarily need/want constant immediate access to ($15 for Lego City Undercover? Why not?). Plus my 200GB SD card is filling up quick. So I've ended up in a kind of "digital-mostly" middle ground. So I'm glad I got a case that holds carts as well. I got this one and it's fantastic: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0711K97BS

I guess you could keep multiple SD cards and swap them out for rarely played digital games though.

u/bombsolomon · 1 pointr/3DS

Just got a New 3DS XL secondhand and the condition is pretty rough. I removed a vinyl sticker that was on the top shell and it was covering up some deep scratches, and the bottom shell has been forcefully removed several times. I don't think the previous owner(s) knew that the screws on the bottom cover weren't meant to come all the way off. The left side of the case around where the screw is has actually been cut all the way out, and on the right side the tab is similarly broken off.

Right now there's a rubbery clear case on it, which holds everything together, especially the bottom plate.

I was wondering if anyone has had experience with these cases that are on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/TNP-New-3DS-Case-Purple-Snap/dp/B015PNDXFU/ref=sr_1_10?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1523299967&sr=1-10&keywords=new%2B3ds%2Bxl%2Btnp&th=1

I'm looking for an opaque case to cover everything up, but I'm especially interested in how it snaps to the bottom of the console, and if it will "hold" everything in place. Right now, the more rubbery clear case I have reaches over the bottom inner corners of the console, ensuring everything holds together, but it's unclear if these cases do the same thing and there aren't a lot of pictures on Amazon to go by.

Any other recommendations for opaque cases for a New 3DS XL would also be appreciated.

u/lone0001 · 2 pointsr/3DS

I currently have this Kirby one on my 3ds but I think the Blastoise one that came with my New 3DS is pretty cool too.

I would love to get this K.K. Slider one for my 3DS at some point but they're just so expensive to me.

u/Epinephrined · 2 pointsr/3DSdeals

Nice!

I spent a bit more, but I feel like it was worth it. I got a Mario Party: Island Tour blue 3DS XL bundle for $130 (free shipping, no tax). I found one of these cases on clearance for $6 at Sears. I also picked up Pokemon Y ($15) and A Link Between Worlds ($20) from the kmart sale. About $170 for a 3DS XL, 3 games, and a case (all new as well). Merry Christmas indeed!

u/madcowsyndrome · 1 pointr/3DS

I use the Pull-N-Go folio by PDP, I have one for my vita and love the shit out of it so I got one for my 3DS XL. It also fits perfectly in the case when you pull out the shim!

I was going to get this for a new 3DS that I was planning to buy, but I'm going to get the NEW 3DS so this won't fit it, I suppose. I do have this same type of case on my DSi XL and it's great. Protects and feels good in the hands.

u/Sokiyo · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I have this travel case and it's a pretty great case. Easy to put the switch in(it fits with the joycons already on), 20 cartridge slots for games, and the zipper pocket which should be big enough for an extra set of joycons or two + a bit more like some cords.

Can anyone can help me price my Switch bundle? I'm in no rush to sell, I just never play the thing.

I'm selling the following:

u/jbigboote · 2 pointsr/3DS

I bought this one for the 3DS XL. it looks like there is a similar one for the regular 3DS. It was not my first choice, but Play Asia was out of the one I wanted, so I went with this cheap one. It seems pretty flimsy, but so far it has held up just fine, so maybe it is designed better than I think. Alas, I have no idea if it would fit over a sticker.

u/revazcrater · 18 pointsr/pokemon

DO NOT use clear nail polish, it will just ruin the surface of the DS. Rather than that, just get a crystel DS case where your DS stays protected, and looks good and clean! ;)

Here is a link!

EDIT: And yes, I do own this case and it has kept my 3DS in perfect condition for about a year now!

u/TK656 · 1 pointr/3DS

I also recommend a shell to protect the system. like this TPU one (its slightly flexible and feels good in your hands):

Console fits snugly, alone with four game slots and a mesh pouch that can hold some other games or a stylus. It fits great in a bag and is about as small as possible while also having a hard shell that seems really safe. Also you can't argue with $2.50!

It has a bit of an oil/new product smell but starting to go away. The side pouch is awesome, fits the charger I got (both outlet and car charger), headphones, 3d printed stand a friend made me, and two of those thin black things you put on the joycons separately.

u/rdh2121 · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I'm trying to decide this myself. Currently my frontrunner is this one, but I could be convinced otherwise if anyone has a case they really love.

u/xarigale · 2 pointsr/3DS

There is this soft plastic case I use for my Zelda 3DS XL. Link it is really nice, super high quality, and if you search the subreddit you may be able to find someone with pictures of one on their Pikachu XL. I seem to recall that being a major factor in me purchasing it. It's amazing and I have had no issues with it vs. peeling issues when using a cheap hard plastic case on a regular 3ds in the past.

Edit: It says hard cover but it's pretty flexible so I consider it 'soft' plastic.

u/DalvaMozzerX · 2 pointsr/3DS

i dont know how to make them less noticeable, but I do recommend getting a case of some sort. Since I have a limited edition 3DS XL i went and got this clear case and it is excellent.

The Smash Bros one is really nice and elegant. It looks amazing on the White new 3ds.

u/CheesyTurkeySandwich · 3 pointsr/3DS

I recently purchased a Galaxy N3DS XL, so I wanted to protect mine as I am super OCD about scratches and wear and tear.

I bought this clear cover after reading reviews about the Hori not being quite clear and a little loose: TNP New 3DS XL Case - Ultra Clear Crystal Transparent Hard Shell Protective Case Cover Skin for New 2015 Nintendo 3DS XL LL https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018DM48BS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_zJU6yb7TQ0522

In addition, I like to keep my things in one place when not using, so I purchased this case that fits charger, cartridges and the 3DS. It also fits the 3DS with the clear cover on it: Keten New 3DS XL Case for Nintendo New 3DS/ New 3DS XL Hard Travel Protective Shell for Nintendo Console& Game, Also for Anker External Battery Store https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FDA42PU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_pMU6ybK2QC85D

u/Sunnydale_Slayer · 3 pointsr/3DS

I'd recommend the 3DS Pull and Go Folio. It has a large flap inside that holds over 20 carts. There's also a mesh pocket for the charger, and the portion that holds the 3DS attaches with Velcro and can be easily removed to take it on the go. Inside the removable 3DS pouch, there are also two slots for carts. I use the entire folio to store all my games, but usually just remove the 3DS pouch and throw it in my bag before heading to work. I should also note I use this case with a 3DS XL, and it fits just fine.
The only time I take the whole folia with me is when I'm going out of town.

You can see pics of the case here: http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-3DS-Pull-Go-Folio-Black/dp/B004KPH7TS. Happy hunting!

Edit: I can't math. The flap holds 18 games, front and back. The inside panel of the back of the folio has an extra six slots. The 3DS pouch holds two. And obviously the console itself can store one. So 27, in total.

u/TheDaveWSC · 2 pointsr/nintendo

Oh no! I recommend one of these. (Which I'm sure you can find cheaper elsewhere.) It protects it perfectly!

u/Renaro · 1 pointr/3DS

What I have and use right now is a Dream Gear grip.

Not sure if it's what you're looking for but it's what worked for me.
I believe there is also a version for the 3DS XL if somebody is looking for that.
I haven't been getting any cramps since I got this. So I would say that it is pretty good.

Anyway, here's a link so you can see it.

u/zZPPBTOZz · 3 pointsr/3DS

This is by far the best case I've had, and it's only 15 bucks on best buy. also i got the screen protectors from gamestop and that's it

u/LostInVanadiel · 1 pointr/MonsterHunter

I've got 320hrs on my MH4U using "grip 2," which you can find here. I've had zero issues, and while it's not the grip of my dreams, it's supremely better than barebacking the 3DS for hours and hours.

u/Ziathon3 · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Wow, you are totally right, I did not realize that. The only thing I could find was this but it is third party seller only. I looked on ebay too and didnt find much of anything either.

And I don't think the NEW 3DS XL grips will fit the old model as they are just different enough in exterior dimensions.

u/SupaStaVince · 1 pointr/3DS

I just posted about a case earlier here: http://www.reddit.com/r/3DS/comments/2yzv37/nn3ds_carrying_case_on_a_budget/cpentr8

> http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-3DS-XL505-Case-Black/dp/B00A5LK6QM This is the one I personally use and love it. Don't buy it from here though. It normally goes for $15. I only linked this one for the pictures.

>Here's a better picture. http://www.toysrus.com/graphics/tru_prod_images/Nintendo-3DS-XL505-Case----pTRU1-15272455dt.jpg IDK if this is actually the same exact model I use, but it's almost identical. And it says it holds 8 games but I've actually been able to fit 2 games in each sleeve. It also says it's for XL but it has a little extra room to fix a N3DS

The dimensions on this one are just very slightly more than the N3DSXL in width and length, and the thickness is about twice that of the original XL.

  • I got mine at Target when I bought my 3DS XL.
u/HeyBoone · 1 pointr/3DS

I have this case for my DS

and I use this case for storing my carts. It is a bit of a pain to get the carts out due to the 'click' when you insert them but it's not terrible. I do not actually travel much with all these games I just prefer to have them like this rather than going through all the original boxes. That said I will not ever be getting rid of original game cases, I'm a bit of a collector that way.

I do have a bunch of digital releases as well due to e-shop sales and all that. I am a sucker for physical copies all being equal but if the price is right I do go digital. My argument is that if it is the same price I will gladly buy physical since in my mind there is inherent value in the manufacturer having to produce this rather than just provide it over a server. I simply do not understand when digital is the same price or sometimes amazingly MORE than the physical versions.

u/Itscommonsensebro · 1 pointr/3DS

As a Huge MonsterHunter Fan who put in over 460 hours into MH4U, I bought this grip set (when I had logged around 160 hours) and it worked fine for me. It does not Feel like handles but does make it feel a little more like a controller. I hated it the first day but now I love it and never play without using it. You might be able to find better options, but this will do the job. (Note this is for the 3ds XL)

It's actually pretty awkward. My friend bought one, and neither of us liked it very much. I'd wait 6 months, when 10 other companies have made a version.
personally, I'm using this: 3DS Pull n' Go Folio. It's pretty sturdy, about the size of a small fabric 10 CD case, and has room for 29 3DS/DS games. The pull out case is what the console lives in. It velcros into the bigger case, and has room for 3 carts(including the one in the 3ds)

u/ignition386 · 2 pointsr/nintendo

Nice collection and great video! Here's another item to add to the collection, the Japanese Smash 3DS faceplates for the New 3DS (non-XL): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00O9GW9MI/

u/ShokoFlow · 22 pointsr/EDC

It is actually a headphone case. I like it better because of the pocket so things don't move around as much. Also it is padded, less noisy, won't scratch, has a zipper, and in my opinion, feels better. Here is the exact one I got, but there are millions of other ones that are different shapes and colors.
Some other things that are notable:

u/AdamskaPrice · 2 pointsr/3DS

This. Does not scratch the system and does not add much bulk.

EDIT: I personally use it for my Animal Crossing 3DS XL and it looks great. I highly recommend this case.

u/TemptedTemplar · 4 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

The 3ds is absolutely worth if you want to play some its games. Last year at Black friday I topped off my 3DS library and I think my final count is 20 cartridges + another 10 or 15 digital titles. Having an active Virtual console probably helps too.

For the 3DS I would suggest getting a snap on case. They make metal ones like this, and clear plastic ones too if its a special edition system.

Similarly for your current switch, or if you do get the Pokemon one, get a protective case. While making docking a pain, it will at least offer some protection if you accidentally drop it in the future.

u/Bread_Truck · 1 pointr/3DS

I got this guy as a gift and it works great. Won't fit a full wall charger, but I can fit my usb cable in there.

I'm not sure which ones I like more. The Mario ones, or the slightly lighter Kirby ones (Amazon link because I can't find an Imgur one).

They both look hella classy, but I think the Kirby ones look better on a white N3DS.

u/bluemeep · 1 pointr/3DS

I used to horde them all, but I eventually got to the point where I just didn't have room to store them all. Nowadays, unless it's a game I've got an attachment to or it's a special edition, I store them in a bunch of these things.

Hi, I'm thinking about picking up a carrying case for my switch (something I could keep in my backpack that wouldn't get flattened by my books) and I've narrowed my search down to three cases. Which would you say is the best option?

u/beatusboss · 1 pointr/3DS

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Y824ZZ2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I think someone else already linked a Smatree case. My only complaint is I have an N3DS Standard as well, but this case is "one size fits all" meaning it has to fit the XL so it's not a snug fit for the Standard. It's a LOT cheaper than the CitySlicker since it's not made of leather and it will also hold your charger, but it's definitely less "minimal"

u/weareallusers · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I use this and this and it fits well enough. I can also fit my charger and joycon straps in the zipper part.

Only thing about that carrying case is mine had a pretty strong odor for a while, but it did go away.

u/Yentz4 · 1 pointr/3DS

A good case is really all you need. I bought this one http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-3DS-Pull-Go-Folio-Black/dp/B004KPH7TS and have been extremely pleased with it.

u/b_q · 1 pointr/3DS

This is really useful to me, I'll probably by this aluminum case instead of the other one I was looking at.

My previous top choice can be seen below. It can be acquired even cheaper from an amazon seller if they still have stock

http://www.amazon.com/iGadgitz-Travel-Carry-Cover-Nintendo-Strap/dp/B011ILDCIG/ref=sr_1_23?ie=UTF8&qid=1462718229&sr=8-23&keywords=new+3ds+case

u/10seiga · 1 pointr/gaming

But the 2DS (and 'mini' tablets) isn't intended to be a 'pocket device'. In fact it's often bundled with a case whenever there are online and in-store sales. I think the notion that a portable device has to fit in your pocket isn't really a set restriction anymore. I don't see why Nintendo wouldn't market their next system this way, seeing as they already do that with the 2DS.

EDIT: Nintendo 2DS introduction video which makes sure to show off the carrying case

u/spriteice · 1 pointr/3DS

I own this case here:

http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-3DS-XL505-Case-Black/dp/B00A5LK6QM

Pros: It's very a very good travelling case. It has quite a sturdy shell to protect the system from falls and inside it has elastic straps to hold the system and a small flap that holds 8 games. You can actually put two games in the little sleeves and fit 16 games in the flap, plus one in the N3DSXL. Plus it has some holders for extra stylus.

Cons: Quite large so it can't fit in your pocket. Has no mesh sleeve to carry any extra accessories.

u/Ti3go · 2 pointsr/3DS

Also the comfort grip and the cyber grip are things I heard good things about. The last one might be Xl only btw...
Edit: Just found the hand grip as well, which seems to be a regular sized 3ds grip.
Edit 2: The Circle Pad Pro is the only thing I have expiernce with. It's great, but a little bulky. When you're lying in bed playing MH3U it'll get heavy eventually. But still, I'd recommend it.

You could always buy plates off of Amazon and spray paint them the color you want. This is the cheapest plate I could find. This is the whitest/easiest to paint plates I could find.

Edit 2: I found this on eBay

u/mikerobiology · 1 pointr/3DS

I also have a Pikachu 3DS XL, and I was wondering if you have any worries about rubbing or scratching with this type of case? I have a clear plastic case for my DSLite, and I really wanted to get one to protect my PikaXL, but one of the reviews on Amazon for a similar case mentioned that some of the paint had been rubbed off their 3DS along one of the sides, where the plastic case was rubbing against the console.

I'm probably just worrying too much about it, but I thought I'd ask if you noticed anything similar that could scratch up the cool paintjob.

u/electromonkey222 · 1 pointr/3DS

articfawx mentioned that you should pick up a screen protector and I agree. Best Buy should have them for less than 20 bucks and they cover the top and bottom screens, so you'll almost never have to worry about having your system damaged.

Another really necessary thing I would recomend is buying one of these as they're going to keep the paint and everything from getting scratched without putting a big stupid NERF case on it.

So yeah, Screen cases and a Crystal Case will greatly reduce the ammount of damage you'r 3DS will take. And believe me, it will take some damage. It just happens.

u/HighAsAKiteFlying · 2 pointsr/3DS

Ever thought about getting the Pull N Go Folio which holds 29 games? Or something like this which says it holds 22 for $4.

Back when I had the 3DS XL, I had something similar to [this] (https://smile.amazon.com/Black-Crystal-Case-Nintendo-3DS-XL/dp/B00TKVWVOS/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1506112960&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=3ds+xl+grip&psc=1&smid=A26BKZHHS8SI0Z). I would consider this the best grip.

For the N3DS XL, I got this.
I actually don't like the new grip much since it forces your hands towards the buttom of the 3DS, making it difficult to reach the shoulder buttons easily. It is better than nothing so I continue to use it.

u/Nikittele · 2 pointsr/3DS

I got this TPU case from Hori, it's one of the best cases I've ever had for any device. It hardly adds any bulk to the device and is nearly crystal clear. It's softer than plastic so it won't scratch the 3DS' surface but it's also hard enough to provide decent protection. It's hands down this subreddit's favourite case.

If you're just looking for a pouch the I can recommend this one enough.

8 game slots, extra stylus holder, wrist strap and it's sturdy as heck.

I found this which seems to fit the bill for what I had in mind. I also have a Pokemon X and Y 3DS (the blue one) so I'm trying to get as little obstruction of the design as possible, so I'll see how it turns out.

I'm looking to buy a Switch case and I am having trouble deciding which one to go with. The Hestia Goods case looks good but I'm skeptical of the quality because of the low price. The RDS case also looks good but slightly more expensive.

Which one should I go with? Additionally, do either of these cases hold the charger well?

Try searching for a TPU case from Hori also maybe consider a pouch for extra protection

Your best bet is a clear plastic case that has an external hinge on it. You can also get a nerf one for a little bit more.

My wife's old DS did this, and that was our solution. Then mine broke too. That hinge is the weakest part of the design, and it breaks often. I think the lights being 'inside' it make it structurally thinner/weaker.

I bought this one as the US version is always out of stock, its exactly the same except it says LL instead of XL. Arrived in a few days.

I don't know of any others that cover the L and R buttons but you could just get a simple hard case when your not using it.

I have an XL, covered in a TPU case, inside the XL version of the Pull and Go Folio with about 30 games, inside my backpack with my vita in it's own Pull and Go Folio.

Call me paranoid.

u/iniquities · 2 pointsr/3DS

Hori is a great brand honestly. It's cheap but the quality is... well what you'd expect as long as you put it in right. If you're like me and have troubles with removing air bubbles, you might have some problems but I don't think I've seen anybody complain about them yet.

I use their case too if you're ethinking about exterior protection too http://www.amazon.com/Clear-cover-Nintendo-official-licensed-products/dp/B008YAALT8

u/cjsenecal · 4 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I want this case but the only problem is there's no mesh pouch on the top half for larger accessories. I'm leaning towards this case.

u/rocketbears · 1 pointr/3DS

I got a really cheap one here. I kind of regret it because the cartridge holders are awkward and small, the case itself has loud zippers, and there's nothing to hold any spare styli except a little net.

Is there any switch carrying cases that don't stink of cigarettes or stinks of possible carcinogens?!

I've checked out these cases because they fit so much games (20 something cartridges of games) but also read bad reviews about bad smells:
