I had seen the drill powered pork pullers online and thought they were interesting, but I wasnt going to pay the kind of price people are asking for them. I came across a youtube video (IIRC) that showed how to make one so I thought I'd try myself. I found this on Amazon and cut the end and center post off as you can see in the gif.

This gif was from the first time I tested it out. Works AMAZING, and saves a lot of time if you're trying to pull/shred large quantities. I still go through the meat by hand real quick after using this to ensure there arent any large chunks that were missed, and I generally still pull butts by hand when I only cook 1 or 2. the last time I did a large cook for a party (10 butts) I was shredding them 2 at a time in about 15-30 seconds.
I had seen the pork pullers online before and thought I'd never pay that much for something that simple. I came across a homemade version on youtube, and thought I could do that. So I bought this...

I cut the end off as you can see in the gif, and that's it. Works AMAZING for shredding large quantities at a time. I still go through the pork by hand to get any large chunks I missed with this, and I generally still pull 1 or 2 butts just by hand only. (this gif was from a video of the first time testing it out on 1 butt)
Not bad for $12
I won't argue with ya, you got a lot more experience under your belt than i; but that's not totally true. this is polypropylene, which is a food safe material..
that's what ya get your ketchup in! (:
It's defiantly possible. I purchasedthismixer that you use with a drill and have been getting great results. The mixed batch is really soft and doesn't settle as bad on the bottom of the glass. I always wondered how the official soylent achieved this.
Since I have one balanced "food" meal a day I don't go crazy with the micros.
Do I need to crush before I press? I can borrow a press, not sure I can come up with a crusher though. I've seen people use a high powered drill and a mortar mixer, something like this, or just the bit like this. So maybe I just use the mortar mixer as my crusher, then use a press. What do you think?
I don't stir after I close the lid of my cooler. I dough in using a cordless drill hoooked up to a stainless concrete stirrer/mud stirrer/paint mixer similar to this one which does a wonderful job of mixing the mash with little effort.
The magnetic stirrer works great for smaller batches...if/when you start making batches over 300ml (500, 1000, 2000, gallon), you’ll want to get some type of mixer like this...or a paint shaker.
Personally I prefer making large batches...I use my stirrer to test out new flavors.
There are some lab stirrers too, but they are very expensive.
Why not just use one of these? Or some larger variant? Would be easier to use a ready-made product than one you have to make yourself out of stainless.
oh no sweetie. you mix the paint until you think its mixed well enough. then you mix it for another 10 minutes.
then you rest and do another 5 minutes.
then buy one of these

Pro-tip: the fastest way to shred/mix pulled pork in large quantities is with a mud mixing bit and a clean 5 gal bucket
I use a paint/mud mixer. I bought the one without the paint. Something like this (amazon)
