Honestly the best customer service I ever received was from amazon! I had ordered my girlfriend a gift and it had a shipping date and time when I’d receive it. I don’t remember if I was home that day or not but received a text alert it had been delivered. Regardless, I was SUPER excited about this gift, delivered just in time for The holidays. I checked my porch, mailbox, even around the perimeter of my house and no package was to be found. I contacted the ups and they were just like oh well we delivered it, not our problem anymore :( so then I emailed amazon and explained the entire situation. They emailed me back in a matter of MINUTES, advising me the package may have been stolen and they had already reached out to the shipper and got a refund in place for me. Oh yeah and the refund was INSTANT. I was so shocked that they had worked super quickly for me and was very appreciative to them in response. I ended up getting a present in town with the refund, but at least I know that the person/company which I ordered from is good to their buyers!

Protein Puffs - I find that these are a pretty satisfying volume for the calories. The bit of spice in this flavour also seems to help with not wanting to just binge a ton of them.


Less protein focused, but I also like:


Takis Fuego - These are quite spicy for a mass market snack. The heat helps me with not wanting to eat too many.


Mega Sours - Similar idea, these are so sour that they take a very long time to eat and you're not going to have more than a few before your mouth is starting to go raw.


It helps that I actually really prefer spicy things and sour things to sweet things, but I don't really try to make my snacks "healthy" - I just try to make sure they're something I can be satisfied with a reasonably sized portion of.

Something else that is pretty cool: Miracle Berries. It turns sour/bitter tastes into sweet! A lemon will taste like sugar, sour strawberries will taste like heaven, and so on.

If he likes food (and most guys do) and trying new things get some miracle berry chews. They make bitter foods taste sweet. They seem pretty cool and like they would be fun to try. I think they make a very unique gift. I just bought some for my friends Christmas gift this year.

Also, they're only 13 dollars for a 10-count. I purchased a different brand for the same price, but for some reason the ones I bought are now $29.00. This brand has just as good reviews though. Hope this helped.

I enjoy running and fitness, but have a severe sweet tooth. I enjoy watching several BBC shows (Sherlock, Luther, and of course Dr Who). I also have logged more hours than I care to admit playing Civilization V.

The bueno, turkish delight, and buttons I can all get locally for less than $2/each non bulk price. So let's say they're $2. I can get a bag of plantain chips that size for $2. Thai tamarind candy from Amazon $1.50. Assuming he got these locally so the shipping from amazon will not factor in yet. That plus two pieces of loose candy which can't be more than .50cents, the total is generously set at $10. If you factor in shipping cost you're getting exactly $14 worth of stuff. The issue is with boxes like this you're expecting to get a touch more than you paid for and get quality items. He gets items in bulk so pays less and it's expected a little of that savings is passed on to the customer in the form of an extra item or two. Bocandy is probably such a small operation that any "savings" is actually profit for them so they literally can't afford to give you more bang for your buck. I'm also guessing that having to procure locally means paying more, means he makes less overall, which is why the box ended up being so far below acceptable. (Old product & clear "fillers" = unacceptable).
I'm not defending them in any way, just pointing out why the small sub boxes can be a HUGE gamble. I've found a lot of them simply aren't worth trying out because of these issues.

For me, it makes biting hard things painful for a day or so afterward, but it tastes delicious. That's the meat only, though, not the peel. One thing to note is that lemons/limes contain crazy high amounts of sugar, but it's usually overpowered by the bitter. For people who can't taste sour as well/like sour, it's probably a more reasonable proposition.

If you're not a big fan of sour, though, try this out, it'll blow your mind. It blocks your sour receptors similar to how you stop tasting sweet after you eat too many sweet things, so you can eat crazy sour stuff and enjoy the other flavors in it. Lemons taste amazing with that stuff, the only thing I can compare it to is the little puddle of molten sugar left over from when you don't mix your sugar well enough into your coffee. I'd recommend giving it a go to anyone.

\ I have annoyingly sensitive teeth, however, and use sensodyne daily/appear to require an average of 2 more doses of novacaine than normal to not feel my mouth anymore.

hmm, i'm having a hard time finding this as well.

i'd suggest purchasing something like this and melting them down in a saucepan to a syrup for infusing into drinks. may be able to get that nice ramune flavor that way? could be fun :)

Miracle fruit? It's a fun experimental present. When you eat (dissolve on tongue) a miracle fruit tablet all sour food turns to sweet. Gives you a new experience in eating a lot of stuff and is also a bit sciency.
