For reference I'm 5'4" and 145lbs but I weighed max 160 at the time of purchasing some of these items. I wear a size 29 jeans but sometimes I need a 30 or 28 depending on the cut/style. I am a 36c so sometimes finding shirts that fit is a mission. Hope this helps

Off shoulder dress. I use belt so I have a nicer shape. The girls fit nicely and the belt is a must so I don't feel like I'm wearing a poncho.

Also a mom! I adore NYDJ jeans. They're mid-waisted and they really hold you in, but they're comfortable and they hold their shape really well -- the knees don't get all loose or anything. On the other end of the spectrum, lately I've been loving No-Nonsense jeggings. They're $15 a pair and they're really comfy and cute.

As far as tops, the nice thing is that right now there are a lot of very forgiving tops for women whose mid-sections aren't runway-perfect. (What the hell did new moms do back when babydoll tees were the thing?) I'll link some examples from Amazon US, and maybe you can find something similar from a Canadian source.

Shirts like:

this Guess boyfriend tee that have detailing around the neck and an interesting cut at the sleeves while having a little drape at the belly

I've had a lot of luck with Lucky Brand tops like this one. They're structural, so you don't feel like a total slob, but the structure is forgiving.

I'm not a huge fan of shark-bite cuts, but the fit of the top of this shirt related to the swinginess of the bottom is very forgiving and flattering.

I also feel like a big part of feeling complete is wearing a little makeup, doing my hair (really simply, but it's neat), and wearing earrings.

u/Jadis4742 · 3 pointsr/fringefashion

Basics, bitches! Lots of basics.

  • I found this Soma wirefree bra and now I wear nothing else unless it's a special occasion. I even fall asleep wearing these, they are so comfortable.

  • I live in Old Navy vintage tees when I'm at home. I'm kind of an expert in pjs and these tops are the best. Super soft, don't shrink when dried on medium, and nice enough to throw a bra on and run errands in. The lighter colors can be sheer.

  • For plain regular t-shirts, I love the GAP favorites line in short-sleeve scoopneck, long-sleeve v-neck, and long-sleeve crew-neck. These shirts are nice and thick and also don't shrink when dried on medium.

  • I love the Bath and Body Works shea-infused socks. I buy a couple of pairs each year, and they keep my feet so warm while providing a little traction on the wooden floors. On really cold days I will wear them with my boots. I wash them with my regular clothes. While the stickies on the bottom will peel off eventually, none of them have gotten to the point that I decided to toss them, and I think I have been buying them for four years? During the winter holidays is usually when they have the best selection, usually with cute little animals!

  • Let's talk underwear. Almost every day, I wear 100% cotton Hanes bikinis. Sometimes I'll go crazy and wear a boyshort. But 100% cotton, always and forever.

  • For fancy/no-panty-line occasions, there's only one answer - the Hanky Panky retro lace thong. Expensive, yes. Worth it? Totally. The thong part is very comfortable, doesn't dig in the front OR back, and the best part is that the high rise of the stretch lace smooths out that little pooch I have in front. It doesn't creep, doesn't bunch, and sits well under tights, skirts, and dresses.

  • The Hanes Solutions Super Opaque Tight in Maximum Blackout Coverage is the best black tight I've found. It's the tight I wear in most of my fits, and while there is a little shine, there is no show-through at all.

  • I am a firm believer in the 'leggings are not pants, cover your butt' school of thought, so I have this high-low hem shirt and this tunic, both in black, to go with my collection of printed leggings. They are both loose-fit and drape very nicely.

  • While buying multiples of clothing isn't unusual for me, there's only one time I bought multiples of boots. I have the Franco Sarto Trooper boot in black, gray, and claret, a dark reddish-brown. The boots are so comfortable and sleek-looking. They go with everything, and the elastic in the back ensures a perfect fit for wider calves. They even have a wide-calf version, although my calves are 17' around and I could still wear the regular size.

  • As far as regular shoes go, I think we all know I'm a big fan of the Vans slip-on.

Thank you so, so much. This is all SO helpful.

I found this in my online research, written by a woman who apparently lived there for a while. Putting what she says together with your insights really helped me finally grasp what I think I need to be wearing (please let me know if you think I’ve misinterpreted anything here):

  • not only does my bottom need to be covered, but my crotch in the front as well. We should be pretending that part of my body doesn’t exist.

  • the scarf is for hiding any evidence of boobs

  • covering arms and legs is for the purpose of desexualizing me as much as possible. Same with neckline. I am an object of temptation to men and the more invisible I am in that regard, the happier I’ll be.

  • leggings are fine as long as they cover my calves and my crotch/butt is covered

I forgot to mention: the family were staying with is considered part of the socioeconomic “1%”. I will DEFINITELY bring a gift - I’m glad you said that because it wasn’t on my radar. I’ll ask my friend (lives here, from there) what’s appropriate. I know I will be fitted for wedding attire upon arrival. Is there any significant difference in dress that you know of that might be applicable if I am going to be with a family of high stature there?

I looked around amazon and found some very plain, simple linen/cotton kurtis that I think I could wear over leggings and reuse at home as beach cover-ups and such. Does that sound like a good plan? Something like this or this ? Then I’ll follow the hosts’ lead on what I should buy there.

Same with the kiddo: I’m having trouble finding kids’ kurtis, but I’m sure I can at least find a couple of maxi dresses she can wear with leggings until we shop for something local for her.

Sturdy sandals, nothing expensive, preferably with a bit of platform: do I need to avoid leather?

I can’t thank you enough for all your help and guidance. You’re a godsend. My friend here whose family were staying with there is an amazing friend and man, but he’s a MAN and also he has ADD (not hating, everyone in my family, myself included, does, too, so I’m just highly aware of the potential communication breakdowns), so I don’t trust his awareness of these issues and his recall of what he has and hasn’t told me about.

Since you are started out with 36FF, one reasonable prediction is that you will probably end up in UK H-K territory after birth.

Of course, every pregnancy is different and breasts do their own thing.

>For both of these situations, I see clothing with zero boob support built in, and especially with the gown--no way to hide a bra. HOW DO PEOPLE DO THIS, I wasn't even able to wear strapless stuff before these things turned into gallon milk jugs, but I see these fantastic ultra preggo strapless/braless gorgeous fashion statements and want a piece of that. How do?

Well, aesthetics change, and unfortunate for us busty girls the "twiggy" silhoutte is in right now. Slim, small breasts, able to wear oversized tops without looking ridiculous, legs in leggings or skinny pants sticking out said oversized tops, ...

These preggo strapless/braless fashion statements are part of the same. With the type of dress you linked most women with smaller breasts will look flat-chested in it. They can only pull it off because their breasts are larger due to their pregnancy and the dress is meant to highlight that.

If you are going to buy something similar, you want a dress that is shirred in the bust. Like this:

https://www.amazon.com/HDE-Womens-Strapless-Dress-Sundress/dp/B00ZAIWN0C/

It is the only way you will be able to get your knockers into a dress like this. (Guess how I know!)

Regarding summer clothes in general there are two approaches: Buy a strapless bra (Elomi Maria is available up to HH cup) and pray your breast size does not change too much. Or get flowy summer tops where you can easily hide thicker straps.

I am talking stuff like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Sweet-Pea-Sleeveless-Maternity-X-Large/dp/B00WK394VQ/

https://www.amazon.com/Seraphine-Liza-Front-Sleeveless-Maternity/dp/B001P5FRQQ/

https://www.amazon.com/Sleeveless-Tunic-Asymmetrical-Shirt-U6255-COR-10-1/dp/B00LUSXNLE/

You want tank tops, but not strappy tops.

EDIT For many floor-length shirred strapless dresses it is easy to cut of 1-2 inches off the length and make straps out of that. A good seamstress will place these straps on top of your bra, hiding your brastraps and sew a small loop with a snap so that the straps of the dress stay on top of the bra straps.

We might need to update that automod intro! I believe we're at 633!

[SV] So, happy that the scale reading has dropped below my flair weight, the one I updated yesterday! I actually lost weight during the day yesterday because I was in the bathroom every hour. I love the anti-inflammatory virtues of this WOE. I'm trying very hard to avoid anything that may bloat me, so dessert has been either small quantities of 90% cacao dark chocolate or whipped cream with berries and keto granola. So far, so good!

[NSV] I scaled down to the size large of my favorite shirt, I am wearing it today and will only by large and medium from now on. Also, I'm wearing the new maxi skirt (size 16-18) I bought two weeks ago and it's getting a little baggy. Fortunately, I think I can take in the waist as needed with my rudimentary sewing skills. I ordered a second of the skirts in the silver and plan on wearing it to a family wedding in NC in October. Along with my new boots. I can't wait for fall temperatures.

I am keeping up with my strength training routine, and because I am, my husband and son are too. :) They can't let a lady outdo them, right? Up to 10 reps of deadlifting 2 8 lb dumbbells. Tonight I will switch to the 18 lb medicine ball. I'm working up to my new 15 lb dumbbells. We do have sets of 35 lb and 45 lb which will keep me going for the rest of this year. We're buying a weight bench and sets of weights for Christmas. I love not belonging to a gym and since I can swim, walk, lift weights, and do cardio at home, why pay for another thing?

Dinner was steak, pork belly, and cauliflower. Tonight will be freshly grilled chicken and peppers and most likely another batch of aioli. I might pick up some zucchini to be grilled as well.

Off to drudgery. I hope your day is great! ♥

u/clearskiesopeneyes · 1 pointr/TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I've noticed lately a trend that's starting is the nice pullover. Like a sweatshirt, but it looks nice over jeans, and it's comfy. I have an asian inspired one from amazon I love, and I know multiple of my friends have a more boho one but still not quite hoodie one from free people. They're stylized but still comfy and easy. That's my current go-to.

u/ohnoitsthem · 3 pointsr/NonBinary

I've got a pretty large belly, something like a size 24 in pants. I find that bootcut or flared jeans look more feminine on me than straight leg or skinny jeans, and I stick to those even when they're less popular. Flowy tops also work well, anything that's form fitting in the top half and loose below the bust. Tunic tops, some peasant tops, etc.

If you don't really have much in the boob department, look for a padded / push-up bra in a B cup, you won't find many 42+ band sizes with a smaller cup that are affordable, and they do surprisingly well even with just heavyset AMAB-boobs.

I don't usually have very good luck at thrift stores, there's rarely a decent amount of plus-size clothing and it's rarely something I'd wear. I've been buying cheaper stuff from Amazon, the quality isn't amazing, but I've been pretty happy with this brand. Hope that helps!

u/marypies78 · 3 pointsr/TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I like to wear t-shirts too! I like to wear t-shirts or comfortable blouses that have more details that a plain tee, it makes all of the difference. A couple of examples - tee, tee, tee, or blouses like
this or this

An interesting sweater over your tee plain can look very nice too. this is my favorite summer 'sweater' right now here, which looks great with just a white tee & jeans.

As a mom with a 1yo, comfort comes first day to day! I'm a mom too & I know you are running around & constantly bending down all day!
Also, accessories can change up your whole look. I know it's hard right now with a little one, babies & toddlers tend to rip off necklaces & earrings! But maybe an interesting belt or a pretty scarf in your hair?

For myself, it honestly took trial and error, so I'll spare you the messy beginning and tell you where to start.

I'd strongly suggest getting this product. White, light grey, dark grey, and black spaghetti strap tank tops, no built-in bras, nice long length. Black/white monochromatic is imo essential to start.

Buy jeans in grey, black, and dark-wash blue. I personally don't like light-wash blue or tan, but if you do, then do you. Don't get busy with accents on your pants, and don't try for colored pants quite yet. You just want something basic that fits and is flexible.

Finally, find cardigans you like. Try to find styles meant to be worn with an open front, so you can pair with the tank top bottom layer for color experimentation. Again, initially, stick to monochromatics--find something black, find something grey, maybe something white if you're not a particularly messy person.

Then, just buy stuff and try it on. I started out buying jewel tones in purple, green, and blue; I quickly realized it just didn't work well for me, and I was better with earthy tones. Buy colors you wouldn't otherwise try and try them. Be realistic about the colors that don't work on you. Narrow down what works to three colors, then aggressively search for what matches those.

Target has a very nice selection of tank tops and T shirts for relatively cheap. They also have button-up cardigans, although I'm not so much a fan of those. Amazon has multiple listings like this, which help a great deal in mixing and matching. Always go shopping with a plan, though--wear at least two of the three items, and shop for the third. Don't let yourself get distracted by something that's theoretically nice--if it doesn't fit what you've already built, then it's never going to work.

Motherhood Maternity - I buy a handful of things there whenever they have a good sale. I work in corporate America and got 2 pairs of slacks that are working out fine.

Kohl's - They have a MM line that is a bit cheaper. Quality is worse but they have so many sales you can get stuff really cheap.

Gap - Only thing I've bought here is one pair of work slacks (that are way higher quality than MM) and one top.

Amazon - I got my Jessica Simpson jeans (one boot, one skinny), which are literally the BEST maternity jeans out there. My MM jeans sag. I also got 2 amazing tops that are high quality at the same price I buy tops for at MM. The selection overall isn't great though. But there are some gems, especially if you are needing nice tops for work.

EDIT: Here is the top from Amazon...it is an absolute STEAL for how high quality it is compared to most other maternity tops http://www.amazon.com/dp/B011QBOO62/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2PEB03VK1NJ1G&coliid=I2UFQR7NLKC7T1&psc=1

Old Navy - I personally hate every single thing ON has to offer right now. There is literally nothing I would wear there.

u/frostfromfire · 2 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

Big cardigan wearer here! I love J. Crew cardigans and they hold up for years without pilling, ripping, or seams coming apart. To save money you could get them cardigans from J. Crew Factory. I'd personally wear the Merino wool v-neck one but they'd all be good quality. For more interesting but affordable cardigans check Ruche. I like this one because it's a little more interesting than a one-tone sweater and it'll be soft from the acrylic and warm from the wool. It would also work with a young woman or an older woman. If you have $100+ per spend on a cardigan (as you showed with the Dana Lee one) then stop by Anthropologie and have a salesperson show you their selection of cardigans. Their styles are always unique and you'd be able to find something that's good quality, feminine, and a little bit weird.

As for cute cat stuff, these are some adorable things I've seen on Amazon: this seriously silly tunic that can be worn as a sleep shirt and a pair of cat tights.

u/sunshinenfundip · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Sweet T-shirt bro! My son has a ton of shirts with fake ties drawn on them, it was his "thing" for a few year's 😂

thanks for the sweet contest bro!😄

30 weeks along here.

Bras: don't spend too much because you will keep growing. I love these because they are kind of stretchy and good for a couple cup sizes, it seems. Very comfortable.

Underwear : I hate maternity undies! Just get normal stuff in a size up.

Try to get stuff you can wear after pregnancy as well. I like these tunics
, still fitting into the same size I wore before pregnancy, and I've gained 24 lbs. I also got a couple non-maternity dresses from goodwill that I can wear, and they have a surplice neckline that will work for breastfeeding. Open cardigans are also great.

For pants, you really just need some quality basic stuff. For me, my go tos are black leggings, skinny jeans, and boot cut jeans. So 3 pairs of pants. I hated old navy pants and love the stuff from Destination Maternity. My Jessica Simpson maternity skinny jeans are maybe my favorite pants ever. And they were on sale. There are frequent sales. I've also grabbed some good deals from Zulily on tops.

Outerwear. I hate my warm maternity coat! It fits badly. I don't know why it's so hard to find a good maternity coat. Maybe you won't be huge in cold weather so you won't have that issue. I like to steal my husband's hoodie. I also got a cheap down jacket at Costco a couple sizes up which is decent.

You will get bored with your limited wardrobe. Get creative with accessories. Scarves, jewelry, shoes, purses.

u/poweredbyanxiety · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

OKAY YOU NEED THIS RIGHT NOW basically because it is the most adorable thing I've ever witnessed.

SERIOUSLY, GO GET THAT NOW. JUST NOW. RUN.

I need this now because it REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, helps relieve stress and god knows I'm just a big bubble of stress. Plus it's super fun to play with and I've been meaning to buy it forever.

Edit: Batman Suit
Edit: If you don't buy that shirt I'm going to buy it for you.

u/reoshinjuki · 2 pointsr/feminineboys

If you're just starting out it's best to buy outfits together rather than random pieces. Saves you from things that never get worn because they don't match anything.

I just quickly rummaged through Amazon to put this together. Tbh I find shopping and putting outfits together kinda fun. 😄

https://www.amazon.com/Signature-Levi-Strauss-Gold-Label/dp/B07FCT95ZF/

https://www.amazon.com/Sarin-Mathews-Womens-Patchwork-Blouses/dp/B07RSK8H1W/

Ideas for shoes could be sneakers, loafers, flats, booties, (probably lots more too)

Don't be afraid of colours! It's a common trap to buy everything black due to its ease of matching everything, including itself.

It depends on what your style or theme is. Shop around online, people watch for style cues you can borrow from them. Go with clothes you're comfortable in at first, it doesn't have to be a sudden change (but it also can be)

u/mariolopezdispenser · 1 pointr/PlusSize

I find these are long and most importantly true to size in the plus sizes. They are my favorites and they are inexpensive and come in a ton of colors. They are not the most durable (I buy new ones 1-2x a year) but they are comfortable and great for layering.

I got a bunch of awesome outfit feedback in the thread this week, most of which recommending accessories to make a fit look more intentional. I dug out a long necklace and wore it with this outfit, and I think it helps not look like I'm wearing a huge bag. I mean, I'm still wearing a bag (Uniqlo dress, so comfortable), but more fashionably? :P

ALSO I don't remember who linked to it, but someone posted this cat shirt in one of the weekly threads a few weeks ago. I totally ordered it and it finally came in the mail from China a few days ago and I wore it yesterday! THE EYES. It may be my favorite shirt ever.
