(Part 2) Reddit mentions: The best action & toy figures

As you can tell, I collect Star Wars figures mostly. And most other things I collect aren't as good. But here they are in living color:

Having owned the Ultimate City Hunter Predator, the AVP Scar Predator, and the Alien Isolation Big Chap figure, I was fully prepared for this one to come damaged in box or shortly after taking him out, but thankfully I've had nothing but luck so far. Its a great sculpt, but of course I'm weary that it will look this good forever.

I found this bad boy at a local comic book shop and I just had to have him. The owner even gave me a nice discount and I've been a loyal shopper there ever since. Amazing figure and the white really lends itself to the mold.

[Bandai Model Kit Death Trooper] (https://www.amazon.com/BANDAI-ROGUE-Scale-TROOPER-Plastic/dp/B01LZ06HST) - One of the best looking model kits I have. Absolutely amazing value and its far better than its Black Series equivalent and, in my honest opinion, even better than the S.H. Figuarts version.

The equipment used was my new Samsung 8+ Phone Camera and a set of run of the mill candles for some soft lighting. Any light effects on the figures aside from the candles ware just random images reflecting from my computer monitor.

This is really interesting. I'm working on something similar for myself right now. I think first you have to try and figure out what your essential list of justice league members is, although I think we can all agree on Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, and Aquaman, and then +/- Martian Manhunter and Cyborg. I'll preface this with that i'm a huge fan of Greg Capullo, so I'm kinda biased.

1. Batman - the GC designer series batman. Considering getting the Arkham Knight batman (I'm actually trying to decide if I want to just get the 5 figure set). I also can't get enough of the GC Year one batman but this is not appropriate for a Justice League set.
   
   
2. Superman - I'm going to pick up the upcoming Lee Bermejo Superman. Close second is the DC Icons superman, although I also really like the Multiverse Dark Knight returns superman.
   
   
3. Wonder woman - My favorite of the recent ones is the Designer series Jae Lee wonder woman. I like the upcoming The Amazo Virus figure even better, and then sometime next year we will get the God of War wonder woman figure, which looks spectacular.
   
   
4. Green lantern - this one is interesting because it depends on who green lantern is to you. I'm partial to Kyle Rayner personally, but there's not an easily available/affordable figure available for him. Of the Hal Jordan figures, I like the DC Icons figure, but I'm going to go again with the upcoming Lee Burmejo figure. If Jon stuart is more your flavor, there is a DC collectibles Jon stuart that I'm not a huge fan of. Fortunately there is also an upcoming DC icons Jon Stewart that I think looks promising.
   
   
5. Flash - I love the GC flash so this was easy for me. The DC Icons figure is a little more classic and runs (heh) a close second.
   
   
6. Aquaman - I'm honestly not in love with any of the aquaman figures I've seen, but that may be because he is probably my least favorite Leager, at least of those listed. the DC direct figure is pretty flashy. There's something I don't love about the face of the GC aquaman although I love the body. I think I'm going to end up picking this one up. The DC collectibles one is not bad, I just think its a bit plan and unexciting.
   
   
7. Cyborg - basically just deciding between the new 52 and the upcoming rebirth one. I actually really like the figure from the Justice league war film. I find the other War figures a bit cartoony, but this one is cool.
   
   
8. Martian Manhunter - I love the new 52 figure but it seems to have gotten scarce and expensive. I'm not a huge fan of the figure from the supergirl TV series. This DCUC figure is recommended already on this thread, not sure its for me either. Not sure I'm gonna be grabbing a MM figure in the near future.
   
   Anyway, I love this topic, I love the idea of piecemeal "sets" of action figures like this.

Hmm if you want Vegeta, I highly recommend the newly released Figuarts SSJ Vegeta :D There are currently 3 different SSJ Vegetas. The first two are using the old body articulation system, outdated already so I don't recommend those.

There is also a Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta but I don't recommend him that much. He's using the old body articulation system and his design is very flawed in a lot of ways. He's more for the completionist if you really want an SSB Vegeta haha :D

All in all, the BEST Figuarts Vegeta currently is the very first one I showed you. He's the classic Vegeta we all know and love, he uses the new body articulation system so you can pose him with a wider range of motion, his paint application is pretty much perfect, plus his sculpt is way more accurate to how he appears in the show :D

Oh yeah for other Dragonball stuff, the NEW SSJ3 Goku, God Goku (Red Hair version), an insanely massive Shen Long dragon and Nappa are being released this year :D

I, for one, know how you feel (I'm a big fan of the series as well). For the moment, it seems that either the 6" Marvel Legends Amazing Spider-man 2 Film figure or the renowned 6" Macfarlane Superposable Spider-Man figure could fit that desired USM look.

Aside from design differences (considering contrasts between film and comic style), the two differ in price and availability as well (the former is ~$20 and currently sold in stores while the latter is sold online for ~$100+).

On the other hand, if you don't mind waiting then you just might like the line of Spider-man figures Hasbro plans to release for 2015--particularly the one original-costume Spider-man figure that seems to look quite like the Spider-man of the USM comics.

While there are other various Spider-man figures (such as the ones of the Classics lines), at the moment these are (seemingly) the best Spider-man figures to fit that USM look with great articulation (I could be wrong, excuse me if I am).

edit: Just in case you haven't noticed, The Marvel Legends ASM2 Figure also contains one of several pieces needed to build a green goblin USM figure. If you happen to end up picking up the ASM Figure, you'd have one piece you can use toward building an USM villain for Spidey to fight! Pretty cool addition to the figure itself so I just thought I'd let you know.

Pizza Spiderman -- hands down the best Spiderman for the current style of Hasbro Marvel Legends. It could still be possible to find this guy at a walgreens/comic shop/ross for retail - but online he goes for a pretty penny.

I bought the Marvel Select Hulk from Thor: Ragnarok for $33 on Amazon. It’s 7inches, sturdy, the mold was well done as far as I can tell. I’m a new collector, but I’m happy with the purchase. And as the other guy said, articulation ain’t great.

In 2015 Revan won a Hasbro fan poll along with Sabine Wren, as characters to be added to the toy line. The figures were eventually shipped in Fall 2016. However, the line of toys that Revan belonged to wasn't ordered by the big retailers like Walmart, Target, and Toys R Us. The reason was the figures in this box weren't tied to the movies.

It took a a while before there were scattered reports of people finding Revan in JC Penny's, Kohl's, or Best Buy.

Not too bad actually. It's my birthday on Monday so I decided these were cheap enough to tack onto what I wanted to treat myself to.

Rick was the cheaper of the two. He came with another arm, a rifle for that arm, and a knife (with sadly no knife holster, wtf). I had to go with the pose in my pic after I realized what he could do with Snake lol

Daryl was a little more expensive, probably due to his popularity. He came with a knife (and holster), the poncho, the crossbow, and 4 bolts. One bolt comes "loaded" and the other three fit on the underside of the crossbow.

You may find cheaper on eBay or something, not sure. I have Prime so I do pretty much all my shopping on Amazon.

If you want a Big Daddy figure, I'd recommend to the moon and back the Big Daddy Funko Pop. It doesn't even look like a funko pop, it's super solid and heavy, and it costs way less.

Don't get me wrong I love figurines, I've got a decent collection of stuff, and of all the funkos these are cool, but just funkos in general I don't get the appeal, but I'm just not into caricature thing.

This Ultimate Spidey is the one being referred too here. And I'd have to agree with everyone. I love, love, love Pizza Spidey, but I'm more drawn to Ultimate Spidey (maybe it's the lack of butterfly joints, I don't like'em).

TBH, I'd still prefer legit action figures that really look like the character.

Feels like these are all aiming towards the female fanbase.

They are from Bandai's dead D-Arts line. You might be able to find the new 4-inch X figure by Sentinel for cheaper, but he is quite a bit smaller. If you're into non-canon designs Truforce X is probably the nicest Megaman figure there is; and he's fairly cheap for a mostly metal figure with an LED buster

Why do they have a May 12th street date? You can buy these directly from the manufacturer since mid-March and from Amazon since then as well.

Why even have a specific release date for these toys? The Bumblebee movie came out a year ago and the DVD/Bluray was released last month.

The only good Hulk figures I can think of Diamond Select's Hulk. Problem is the sculpt is kinda wonky with each of them - there's been three so far. Definitely do not recommend their newest one, it's fugly as hell.
