(Part 2) Reddit mentions: The best antiperspirants

I am getting ready to try Sweat Block and Hydrosal.

I'll try to report back and let you know how they work, but it could be a week or two before I really have a good idea. I want to make the rounds with antiperspirants before I try anything more drastic. And if antiperspirants don't work, I may just try acceptance because I am concerned about some of the other options out there.

Remediation:

• As mentioned: freezer method (smell will eventually return though)
  
• Washing machine with small amount of bleach, Sun-dry
  
• Kitty litter in a sock -> into shoes every night

• Alumimum chloride wipes applied to feet will decrease sweating considerably
  
• Zinc oxide powder: Both antimicrobial/antifungal and deodorizing. This will probably be the most useful piece of arsenal in your kit and it's inexpensive
  
  Simple but effective: rotate wearing your shoes/buy multiple pairs. Had a coworker with hyperhydrosis and he wore a different pair of shoes to work each day. Worked well for him!

Yaay something I can help with!! I had sweaty armpits most of my life. Like really bad. Had to wear black shirts all the time so the sweat stains wouldn’t show. I tried everything. Deodorant and anti-perspirants somehow made it worse, even the “super dry” stuff.

There are very few products I call life changing but holy shit that stuff works! Follow the instructions carefully. When I apply it I usually take a shower, dry off, put it on, then I literally sit in front of a fan drying off my pits, then I go to bed. Works like a charm I usually get 5 days out of one application. I also apply whatever is left to the palms of my hands as they sweat a lot too and it works there as well.

Give that stuff a try it’s the only thing that has ever worked for me.

Edit: Also keep checking this post frequently because it’ll probably get removed for not being San Diego related. They run a tight ship here.

As far as OTC/clinical strength antiperspirants, this one is pretty great. It's got aluminum chloride, but a lower concentration (12%), and has some aloe so it is more gentle than the others.

Wear your helmet into the shower. Lather up your hair real well, them put your helmet back on and wiggle it around. In between doing that get some odor control spray like stink free shoe and gear spray from 2Toms.

Deodorant not working?

Try this one.

It worked way better than some clinical deodorants. Smell is pleasant and doesn't leave white marks on your clothes in the pit area.

I'm also a fellow 66 degreer. First, I want to echo/stress what u/txlaw20 said and that unless you're in court business casual is normally acceptable. I keep a tie in my desk and a sports coat on my coat rack for surprise trips to court because I usually wear a button down or polo and slacks to work.

When I know I am going to have to wear a suit, I wear short sleeves under my jacket often. I saw these and similar on Amazon and thought about it.

Another vote for Certain-Dri for pit sweating! I used it before bed for about a month and it drastically reduced my sweating, even 6 months after I stopped. I still have it next to my bed but keep forgetting to apply it. I applied a VERB TINY DAB each time - any more than that and I'd get a stinging sensation, but it never resulted in a rash of any kind. I think it nukes your sweat glands, to be honest.

Degree, because Sure has roll-on in the UK that flat out SUCKS in comparison. Degree is like a soft clay whereas the shit we get is just a liquid.

I'd rather spend £2.50 on a USA product and wait a few days to receive it than spend the same amount on aerosol and roll-on antiperspirants in the UK that flat out dont work for as long at all.

I usually have to switch products every week or two as my body starts rejecting it and I get moist pits.

Degree's roll-on? Been using it for about 4 months now. NEVER had an issue since.

And it comes with a twist-able bottom. More logical design and better performance for the same price as the UK stuff? No-brainer.

Dress shield, aka underarm sweat pad. To protect fine fabrics like silk from sweat stains. In the old days they were made of cloth and you pinned them to the garment and washed them after use. Now they stick-on and are disposable.

Hair in a tight bun, skirt, sleeveless top, carry "real" shoes, blazer, big jewelry, hose, makeup, anything else you need to look office-appropriate in a big tote.

I always had wipes and deodorant in my bag.

It's very old-fashioned, but I baste dress shields into certain jackets. Better than con$tantly $$ going to the dry cleaners!! They sell disposable ones now

Schedule yourself to arrive early (less stress = less sweat), go straight to the bathroom and finish assembling yourself.

On the way home, reverse the procedure, including getting out of that bra.

I'm a very sweaty person. Since before puberty I could sweat more under my arms when just sitting at my desk than a full grown man playing basketball. I finally got things under control last year by using these wipe things. I also put antiperspirant on at night in addition to in the morning or whenever I think I need a refresher. Especially if you had this problem before T, it's possible you have hyperhydrosis. Even if you don't, you'll find a lot of good tips on this site. Another pointer: aluminum is the ingredient in deodorant/antiperspirant that leaves yellow stains on shirts so try to find an option without it if that's an issue.

Yeah I have over active arm pits and I would sweat a lot even before the vyvanse so throw in the mix and it was a nightmare. Apply this every night. Link. Apply before bed time, but for the love of god learn from my mistakes and do not apply after a shower or your arm pits will burn like hell.

Golfers and bowlers with sweaty hand problems use something likes this. It will probably work for you too.

Armpit pads! saved my life during callback season.

I used to suffer from the same problem and I found Hydrosal Gel seemed to work the best out of all the products I tried. I can now wear different colored shirts without sweating through them, I used to only wear black. Hope this works for you.

I've put baking soda, baby powder, and the Gold Bond foot powder directly into shoes. It generally works, but can be messy. I recently started using this spray 2Toms Stink Free Spray and found that it works really well. I've used it in my cycling shoes (fabric interior, I wear w/o socks), leather ballet flats, vans, & running shoes. I've also put it in most of my SO's stinky shoes. I wasn't expecting much but have been very surprised at its efficacy.

The only one I could find is the HyperDri Aluminum-Free Antiperspirant but it’s quite expensive and doesn’t seem to work for some people.

I'm a very sweaty person but I'm also tight on cash and can't experiment with different deodorants right now so I've stuck to wearing a different shirt for my commute and changing at the office into my office shirt. You might consider underarm sweat pads and they also make sweat absorbing undershirts.

There are creams/gels for people who have hyperhidrosis. I use this on my face/hairline and it stops me from sweating
