24, without a beard. Stop whining.
Not able to grow a beard doesn't warrant this long a rant.

But since you asked nicely: Buy this. Apply daily after a warm face wash. Don't shave at all. Instead buy a trimmer and put on the smallest comb setting on it. Probably 2-3mm I think. And trim those extra stupid hair on your face. ESpecially the fucking neck beard. No one likes those long uneven pubes on the face.
Note-Don't shave. I repeat. Just keep on trimming until there is even growth.

It might be slow but keep on doing it until you realise that your beard is growing out evenly.
I am able to grow a good scruffy beard after a year of doing all this. So, patience is your friend.

PS-The trimmer is expensive here. I got it as a gift from someone who flew in to India. Any other trimmer would do.

PPS-And please for the love of god. Be confident and rock the clean shaven look if you can't grow it. No one likes a pussy.

u/Phant0m_1 · 2 pointsr/malegrooming

As someone who has had a full beard for 6-7 years now, I will tell you part of growth is just genetics.

A couple tips would be 1. to not touch your beard at all with any scissors or razors for the first few months, even if it looks scraggly. Every once and a while trim the “flyaways” or the beard follicles that are way longer than the rest..

2. Don’t shave your neckline too high or your cheek-lines too low. Try and trim with your natural growth line.

As a white guy I can only give you so much advise because our hair grows differently, but I enjoyed the Dollar Beard Club products.. the only issue is it’s some BS monthly subscription so.. if you don’t want to go that route, I would suggest Bossman Beard Oil https://www.amazon.com/dp/B017JEZ1Z8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_83zuDbVXPJAK7

The magic scent smells really good but it’s a heavy scent. If you don’t want something that smells heavy, I just started using Isner Mile. They have a super cheap kit that comes with beard wash and conditioner (for showers), a beard oil and balm and also a beard stencil for shaping.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H7GBPXR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_w7zuDbQZ51FEN

Great deal and I highly recommend it.

u/superbozo · 48 pointsr/witcher

I have an insanely thick beard. It blows my mind when people say their beard is itchy. Use...beard...care...products.

Imagine if you just kept growing your hair out and NEVER washed it or conditioned it? Gee, I wonder if it would get itchy?! Treat your beard the same way. All it takes is a 12 dollar beard soap. Your beard will feel like a soft pillow afterwards.

Edit: Since people are asking what I use, here's my 2 primary beard care products. I don't really believe in beard oil. I think it's a total waste of money. This soap from mountaineer brand is all you need to keep your beard extremely soft. As long as you take care of the skin underneath the hair, you're good to go.

https://www.amazon.com/Beard-Mountaineer-Brand-All-Natural-Shampoo/dp/B00UCPWI12/ref=pd_bap_rp_18?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=D06D7JE9QRHTBMS4BJFK

In terms of styling and conditioning, I use the Cremo brand, specifically made for thick wild beards like mine. It gives you incredible shape and hold. It lasts all day, and it conditions the skin if you're using it correctly. Always start by applying it on your skin, then working your way down the hair. Not the other way around.

https://www.amazon.com/Cremo-Styling-Beard-Cream-Thickening/dp/B07MYF6JHY/ref=pd_bap_rp_5/137-7952774-8329336?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07MYF6JHY&pd_rd_r=38604cd8-1e5e-48b6-8e90-2facc0c1f6b3&pd_rd_w=Avrrz&pd_rd_wg=1vaim&pf_rd_p=63f770a6-6001-4362-87aa-6d0163bfc0c7&pf_rd_r=4Z78A0TB5A2BE5AADHDP&psc=1&refRID=4Z78A0TB5A2BE5AADHDP

Also, a thick boar hair brush will make all the difference when styling your beard. A regular comb is going to rip your hairs out and give you a patchy beard.

Now if we're talking luxury products, beard baron is the way to go. That guy beards...hard. The scents that he comes up with are magical. Normally I don't fall for the "luxury" bullshit, but his stuff is true quality. He also has great tutorial videos on how to upkeep your beard.

Anyway....I'm not sponsored by any of these companies. But now that I'm thinking about it, I probably should be lol. Hope that helps you guys!

u/jedale · 21 pointsr/datingoverthirty

The nice thing about beards is that they're easily removed. So go for it!

Some tips:

  • Beards require care, just like hair. In fact they require more care, because your face doesn't produce as much oil as your scalp does. Invest in some decent beard shampoo & conditioner, and some beard oil. I use Professor Fuzzworthy's for the former and Rangerfor the latter. I shampoo every other day. The beard oil goes in at least once per day (after showering), and I might apply it a second time in the evening if I'm going out and/or if the beard is feeling dry. Make sure that you massage the shampoo and oil all the way down to your skin; bearddruff is a thing.
  • Invest in a decent trimmer. Doesn't have to be expensive! I use this thing; it has guards in 1/8" increments out to 1", and the guard can also be repositioned slightly to get you even more precise control.
  • Once you have a length you like don't be afraid to get the occasional professional trim in order to get nice lines and fading and whatever else you're into. I've had my beard pretty short for the past few months so I haven't bothered, but I'm growing it back out again and once I hit a length I'm happy with I'll probably start getting it cared for once per month or so.
u/JuicyBeans · 1 pointr/pics

It's a gift set made by Beardsley. It came with two different shampoos, conditioner, lotion, and oil. Pretty nice sized bottles too as you don't need to use a whole lot of it to get a nice lather. I use maybe a dime size of the conditioner for both my beard and my head. I use the shampoo and conditioner daily and put the lotion and oil in directly after showering. I use a boar bristle brush to evenly disburse the oil and lotion after running my hands through my beard with the oil and lotion. I just switched to this bamboo handle brush and it eliminates all static and prevents it from poofing up or curling too much.

Here's a link to the gift set and the brush: Gift set and Brush

Oh and the shampoo actually has a taste to it. I accidentally got some in my mouth while shampooing my beard and it didn't taste like soap but rather like fruit. Weirdest thing I've ever experienced lol. Only thing I don't really enjoy about the set is it doesn't have the typical "masculine scents". Both shampoos are fruit scented (and flavored) and the conditioner is kinda flowery. The oil and lotion smell like bay rum (smells like cloves to me). But it works well, beard is super soft and fluffy without that staticy poofness.

I buy mine from Amazon. Go to r/beards and r/beardoil for more product info and reviews.

u/doc_samson · 11 pointsr/MensLib

There is beard-specific shampoo and conditioner. Generally better because regular hair products can dry out a beard too much, which may be some of what you are experiencing.

I've bought two sets of this and its fantastic: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JL8QYPW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Caveat that it's the only brand I've bought so far, there may be better products I haven't tried yet.

Also beard butter is awesome at keeping the beard soft overall which seems to help with the skin care too. I use Fresh Beards brand.

u/neutronknows · 2 pointsr/SanJose

Amazon baby.

Woodsman Beard Oil is awesome. $20 may seem steep but it lasts forever so it really isn't that bad. My wife loves the smell of it as well.

As for beard combs... ehh. I don't know what brand mine is but it works fine. I can't imagine other combs being that much better. Also an Amazon purchase.

u/barnacledoor · 2 pointsr/Hair

i'm liking Old Spice Unruly Paste and Axe Whatever Messy Look Paste right now. I'm actually trying out 5 different putty and paste products right now for comparison and so far those two are my preferred. The Axe one is much denser and putty-like and leaves your hair pretty hard when it dries, almost like a gel. The Old Spice paste is more creamy and leaves your hair stiff, but more flexible. Both are pretty dense when you put it in your hair, so you can kind of move your hair wherever you want to.

Keep an eye out because I'll be posting my comparison soon if you're interested.

u/macbookvirgin · 2 pointsr/malehairadvice

Thanks for the answer - currently trying to hit the gym as much as possible.

http://www.amazon.com/Facial-Supplement-Growth-Vitamins-Thicker/dp/B00OSE5XII

Im pretty skeptical about it but the reviews seem pretty awesome. Comes tomorrow.

u/zeroblur · 1 pointr/BeardTalk

I have both of these and I love them. My face smells like fresh cut cedar wood and my beard is full and soft. I only recently realized they sell these two things together.

http://www.amazon.com/Mountaineer-Brand-Beard-Tamer-Conditioner/dp/B00JDPC9XO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1427822612&sr=8-1&keywords=mountaineer+brand

As for a brush/comb, I've used boar hair brushes as well as wooden and plastic combs over the last 6 months of bearddom and don't really have a preference. I think that one will entirely depend on how thick/wiry/savage your facial hair is.

Edit: This looks promising too. I have the Grandpas Pine Tar Soap and it smells almost exactly like campfire smoke. It's fantastic. I haven't used Grave Before Shave products yet, but I hear good things about them

u/Tactical_Beer · 1 pointr/beards

Keep it clean and keep it oiled. I have terrible skin, and it wasn't until I got some good shampoo/conditioner and oil that I was able to finally grow a beard. Also using a beard comb to train your whiskers to grow in the right direction can help. There's tons of great products out there, here are the ones that I found and like.

Beard Combs
Beard Oil
Shampoo
Conditioner

u/suxer · 0 pointsr/beards

I bought the following:

Oil.

Brush.

Balm.

I like all three of those, though I think there surely are better brushes.

I didnt really mind the prices, some people here will say that you can make your own oils and balms or use plain coconut butter/oil.

Im not much of a handy DIY kinda guy, so a couple of bucks on beard care product wasnt a big deal to me.

u/MansfieldSix · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

I don't know about argan oil, but I use Beard Balm and it's pretty great.

u/AzMatk421 · 1 pointr/beards

Hi. I just started using Taseyar. I I like it. My beard has some areas that are hard to tame but this balm/wax has pretty good hold. And it has almost no scent. What scent it does have is just a light clean smell. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01M4S6VRT/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_awdb_vR3FybWFWYWR2

I don't work for them or get any kind of kickbacks either.

Wild Man Beard Conditioning Oil - The Original (30ml/1 fl. oz)

Says I purchased it November 12, 2013. So it's lasted me over a year. And i wasn't always so scarce with it either. Im almost out now. Smells great. Enjoy

u/Grgy · 1 pointr/beards

it literally smells like milk and honey imo when you put it on. While i still use their original product as well, chances are i may switch to this one only alternating with my Smoky Mountain. My beard is spoiled....

http://www.amazon.com/AMAZON-EXCLUSIVE-Conditioner-Fragrance-Cuticles/dp/B00IN6VAVQ/ref=sr_1_2?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1419954438&sr=1-2

"Naked is the second product released by Beard Balm LLC, a Detroit based manufacturer. This perfectly balanced blend of Grapeseed Oil, Coconut Oil, Lanolin and Beeswax is a general purpose leave-on conditioner suitable for a variety of uses. There are no added fragrances in Naked and the resulting aroma is a subtle mixture of coconut and honey. As there is no water in this product, a little goes a long way. Packaged in a sturdy tin, you can take it with you or leave it at home"

u/Nomanisanasteroid · 17 pointsr/AskMenOver30

Just for Men "Shampoo". Much more economical than buying single use dye kits. VERY easy to use, and much more gradual than dying also. $8 lasts 1-2 months.

Once or twice a week, use this shampoo as part of your regular shower. Then rinse it out and use your regular shampoo/conditioner to get the chemicals out. Don't let it get on your fingernails (impossible), just make sure to rinse the suds off ASAP after lathering. I have no issues with discoloration. I leave it in for the duration of my shower, 5-10 minutes. The instructions say 1 minute???

If you have black hair, get the version where no color is mentioned (neon green).https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M7ZQQ3G/

If you have medium brown, get the blond/medium brown (yellow)https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078NFLNQF/
EDIT: This use case scenario blends in really well. I'd recommend trying this even if you were black haired.

u/HumanBody2 · 2 pointsr/beards

Try biotin or just in general vitamins that aid beard and/or nail growth. Products that specifically say they target beard growth are usually rather expensive. You could just look at the ingredients and get the vitamins seperately which is cheaper.

I'm myself taking biotin supplements and am seeing some good results. Hair grows thicker and quicker and I use the simple cheap stuff from my drug store.

u/kinadiankid · 1 pointr/BeardTalk

I'm using beard balm by the B.I.G company. Got it on Amazon. I don't find it shines too much and keeps it pretty in shape. I do have a shorter beard though so it may differ for longer beards. They have other products as well.

I also exfoliate everyday with a sensitive face scrub.
I do have quite naturally oily skin which doesn’t help with acne.

This is what I use, I've really enjoyed all of them. I just apply these once every day or two, and avoid shampooing or conditioning, as that can get rid of some of your natural oils. Just rinsing thoroughly in the shower with water is enough.

u/Jugrnot · 2 pointsr/cigars

I don't have any hair on my head, however I use Zeus beard shampoo and some home brew beard oil. No smokey smell at all.

Wish it were that easy to deal with my palette..

u/mangaka92 · 5 pointsr/AskMen

I've been using the sandal wood Viking beard wash and conditioner on Amazon. It's cheap, but it smells decent and it works just fine.

Try Woodsman. It's $20 bucks and has a piney, fresh sawdust aroma. Reminds me of Will Ferrell in step brothers when he traveled 5,000 miles just to give his seed.
