3. 8FUN Bike Disc Brake Bracket Frame Adaptor Bicycle REG/Big/XL 3 Sizes for 140mm /160mm /180mm disc Brake Rotor (Reg 1/2 7/8 inch for Rear 160mm Rotor)

    Features:
  • same day shipping order by 3PM ! Bracket Fits on all bicycle frames Front or rear ! For frames with no disc brake Tabs ---Now you can have Disc Brakes.
  • BIG size is for front shocks that are 0.9" -1.25" thickness. If your front forks are OVER 0.9"thick (like 1.25") then you NEED our BIG 1.25" clamps ( They adjust 0.9"-1.25") . So Choose BIG for front forks over 0.9" thick. AND XL for front forks that are 1.28"-1.60" thick (this is very rare !)
  • For Rear brakes almost ALL bikes will use the Regular size!(1/2"-7/8" thick) because the rear tubing is very thin on bike frames. please tell us what disc size you are using ! There are only 4 disc sizes ! 140mm (very rare) 160mm (very common) 180mm and 203 mm(8 " disc). If we know your disc size then we can double check and make sure it will work on your bike !
  • Our REG.size is 1/2"-7/8" thickness. All rear brakes will use this size. The other size is BIG 0.9"-1.25" thickness. The only reason we repeated this size twice is because is has 2 diff. applications. One is for front shocks (usually 1.25"-1.30" thick) OR for BMX or beach cruisers with those really fat forks which CAN be anywhere from 1.0" thick to 1.35"thick.
  • BUT normal front forks are just 1/2"-7/8" thick so they use the REGULAR size (1/2"-7/8"). For rear just use this regular bracket 1/2"-7/8" thick pipes. ONLY need to tell us if you are using on FRONT shocks OR very thick front forks (over 0.9" thick). Only BMX bikes have these thick forks ! Most shocks are 1.25" thick so they need the BIG bracket. Just order this item and tell us you need the BIG size bracket !

Yes, you can, and I have done it.

TL;DR, buy this.

My partner's Giant Boulder was exactly the right frame size for her and combined with the handle bars and stem we had on it, it was a perfect fit. We upgraded sooo much on that bike, the seat tube was the right diameter to take a dropper post, we fitted forks, shifters, and derailleurs and I built new wheels from the hubs and spokes up. The only problem was a lack of disc mounts on the frame. Luckily A2Z make a fairly cheap adaptor and we slapped that on and never looked back. I even ran her bike down a red-graded down-hill when I popped a seal on my forks and wanted one more run before we went home that day. It worked a champ and is still on the bike 5 years later.

Product wise...

A2Z make a cheap one

and...

Therapy Components make a more expensive one

Looks like a good build. I would get the throttle even if you don't plan to use it, just because it feels great to cool off by hitting the throttle and letting the breeze flow over you while you take a break.

Consider updating the brakes. Some say a decent and easy upgrade is changing out the pads for Kool Stop Salmon pads. Or you could use a disc brake adapter for bikes with rim brakes.

I would add a cheap suspension seatpost too but maybe that's just me :)

>I'd also go with clamp-on FD mounting, for similar reasons and others: the FD mount needs little strength so there's no reason to heat the tubing there, and if somewhere down the line you're interested in running a 1X setup or a different FD mount you won't have an extra tab ruining the looks.

This is definitely true. If you want leight-weight steel tubing it's going to be too thin at the braze-on area of the tube for putting on a braze on. Just use a clamp-adapter, like this.

I got one of these cheap and cheerful out-front stem mounts as it was the only one I could find that fitted my 3T stem with really small bolt spacing. It seems decent quality though. Has a wahoo mount on top and a GoPro mount under. You can find GoPro adapters for lots of lights. (They do one for Garmin too). https://www.amazon.co.uk/Best-Tek-Wahoo-Elemnt-Adapter/dp/B07L91GY57

Yeah you need a washer on the inside. Otherwise you will draw the corners of the axle into your bike frame when you tighten the bolt.

The adapter is going to depend on your specific brake setup. I am not that well versed in different types of disk brakes.

Here is a example of a 180mm adapter. It is designed to take IS mounts (holes pointing out sideways) to a post-mount brake caliper (holes going up) so that it fits a 180mm disc rotor.

That looks like the thing you need, but I can't tell exactly from the photograph.

But you mention in another post about a 203mm rotor. So I donno.

--------------

from your other question:

>Could I use two disc spacers?

If it works then it works. As long as it fits and the bolts are long enough so they don't strip out then it should be be fine.

I have 700c wheels and they fit well, the brake adapter is my problem. I did find this set and then this one I'm just wondering if it's worth it.

You can use an adapter that mounts on those holes to create a disc brake mount

Is it possible to get an adapter for disk break mounts?
