I bought a solar shower like this for my first year. I never used it. All the girls in my camp would use up all the water before I got a chance. I don't really like it anyway. It's fucking heavy when it's full and a bitch to carry, especially if you're far from water. I wouldn't recommend it.

I've seen some people hook up showers like mine in little tents like this, which is probably nice for privacy's sake, but if you're gonna spend all that money, you may as well just buy a shower pass and use the showers at Roo.

Someone at our camp bought a garden sprayer like this, which I thought was genius. It works great, you just need a buddy to spray you down.

In all honesty, I just use water jugs and pour them over my head in the mornings. Two gallons is exactly how much I need and it's simple and cheap. Plus, you never really want hot water anyway. It's so fucking hot out all the time that cold/room temperature water feels fucking great.

Here's a 3 gallon jerry can.

https://www.amazon.com/Reliance-Products-Desert-Patrol-Container/dp/B000KA2LOS

4 gallon... but I'm not sure the shape is great for fitting into a pack.

https://www.amazon.com/Reliance-Products-Aqua-Tainer-Gallon-Container/dp/B000KA2LMU

2.5 gallon... might be easier to split between two people, and this shape may fit better in a pack. There's also a 5 gal version.

https://www.amazon.com/Reliance-Products-Aqua-Pak-Gallon-Container/dp/B0024O8JV2

I've considered getting the 5 gal Aqua Pak... I'm currently using two collapsible 5g ones and they're really hard to haul around camp being of a softer material, and I can't even fill them all the way.

Congratulations! If you roll your clothes it saves a lot of room. There are YouTube videos you can watch to save the most room for storage. You can get milk crates and stack with the opening facing you, then ziptie to hold together then get the fabric drawers to store things in. You could store food and toiletries on the bottom, clothes in the other level. You can buy this thin plasticstuff to put on the top so your stuff doesn't fall through the holes. For emergency potty issues, Amazon has https://www.amazon.com/Cleanwaste-Toilet-Bag-15-Pack-D415W15/dp/B07SC9JRNT these, best value I have found.

Have this combo...but separating the sink bowl from the post to use on a counter... great solution to gray water in my mind...not in practice as of yet

I've been through it, you're off to a good start! Some do's and don'ts:

Don't shave your eyebrows. They may not completely fall out, or fall out at all, and they're necessary. They block dirt and sweat from your eyes, and also, you might look weird without them.

Buy a soft, warm hat. Your head will sometimes feel cold or you might get the chills.

Do allow people around you to do something nice for you. You might mistake kindness for pity, people usually mean well.

Make an effort to talk to your 'chemo buddies'. You will likely see the same group at the same time on your treatment day.

Don't be afraid to talk to your oncologist about your concerns or fears. Initially, my big fear was barfing. They have a lot of great medications to treat it. Pot is an option that I didn't take. Vomit bags are great

Go see your dentist before starting chemo. You'll be immuno-suppressed on chemo, but it also makes your mouth dry, which can lead to disease. Mild, non-alcoholic mouthwashes that your oncologist recommends should be used regularly.

You'll need some facemasks to protect you in some situations (like having to ride a bus), or to protect other chemo patients if you have any cold or flu symptoms.

Buy lip balm, you're lips might be dry.

Try to find the humour in it - it's there.

When I'd get to the point where I'd want to quit, I would think of all of the little children going through the same treatment and I snapped out of it.

If he isn't super concerned with how it looks (i.e. not super realistic for urinal use) then [this] (http://www.amazon.com/Shewee-Original-Colors-Nato-Green/dp/B0036DGCNC/ref=sr_1_1?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1416190855&sr=1-1&keywords=shewee+green&pebp=1416190856890) is a really, really good and easy to use STP. I am genderfluid and I use it all the time when I'm on the masculine end of things.

Edit: I've also been contemplating getting the [Mr. Fenis] (http://www.mrfenis.com) because I've heard good things but I'm not ever using a men's room (because I'm a coward) so I don't see the point of a penis-shaped STP myself but it might be good for your friend.

u/pandaisthebest · 2 pointsr/spinalcordinjuries

Hello, I have the same problem. I carry a Travel John with me in case I can't make it to the bathroom. It's a disposable urinal that's you can use and throw in the trash. Still working on finding a more sustainable solution but until then it works for me. Hope it'll help you too :)

  1. Bring toilet paper (80,000 people go through a lot of toilet paper; sometimes it's hard to find, especially at night).
  2. Baby wipes (cleaning off sweat and dirt between showers and/or going to the bathroom with).
  3. EZ-Ups are great. As many have said, buying some cots and sleeping under one is often much more comfortable than a tent. Manchester, Tennessee is a hot and muggy place.
  4. Bring a tarp or two. You can use them for a lot of things. Wrap it around your EZ-Up to give you a shaded area. Stake it to the ground under your EZ-Up so you have a "floor". Use it over your tent for extra protection in case of rain.
  5. If you want/need a tent, then this one would be fine. It really just depends on your budget/how nice you want it to be. If you want a tent with an air mattress inside or just extra room, I'd suggest something like this. If you don't want an EZ-Up, you could go with a huge tent that has an attached screened-in area. Keep in mind, though, that the bigger the tent the harder it usually is to set up.
  6. Bring some lanterns/flashlights/headlamps so you can see around your campsite at night. Or for late night bathroom runs.
  7. If your girlfriend (or you) are at all shy of dirty portajohns then you might want to get this, this, and these. Depending on where you're camped, the nearest bathroom can be a 5-10 minute walk away, so this is a nice convenience.
  8. If you want your phones/electronics to work for picture taking and such (your signal will probably suck most of the time), I'd recommend getting a portable charger such as this.
  9. Sunscreen. Lots of it, if you're a pasty ginger like me.
  10. Gold bond body powder (for your balls).
  11. Comfortable shoes (you're going to be walking a LOT). My girlfriend and I walked over 30 miles last year, and we were nowhere near the farthest campsite away from Centeroo (the main concert grounds).
  12. Water. Bring shit loads of it. A lot of people don't realize how much water a person needs when exerting themselves in that type of heat, but it's a lot. I typically bring 2 24 packs of bottles and a few 1 or 2 gallon containers (for filling my CamelBak).
  13. A CamelBak. This should be number 1. I recommend at least 1-2 liter size. It's so much nicer than carrying around a backpack full of water bottles, or running out of water during every show and having to fill up in between.

That's all I got. See you on the farm!
u/korukyu · 5 pointsr/trashy

I own this one, the pStyle in multiple colors. It's great, and because it's not a full funnel, you never have to worry about it filling up or removing your pants entirely.

Camping? Music Festivals? Anywhere with terrible port-o-potties? The pStyle is amazing.

u/OmniaMors · 3 pointsr/photography

There are several ecosystems that are super fragile, and packing out your feces would be beneficial to them. Although I suggest pouches over a bucket. They can be packed down small, are less likely to spill/smell, and save backpacking weight.

u/JoeIsHereBSU · 8 pointsr/preppers

Although I think 6+ months is unlikely, but here is what I would do.

  • Cook
    • Over the fire
    • Make a fire over
    • Buy one for the house beforehand, currently in the worlds smallest house but want to build in the next couple years
  • Shower
    • Camp Shower
    • You can also make something like the camp shower using a 2L bottle or 2.
    • Good old boil water and add it to a tub
  • Wash Cloths
  • go to the toilet
    • This is a whole subject on its own. Hard to say just dig a hole because where does that hole go? How do you get your water? Will disposing of waste contaminate your water? Will it contaminate your neighbors? Making a septic tank is hard, but you might have to do it by hand.
u/MsKnee · 9 pointsr/BurningMan

twitch Nooooooooo.

My preference? Get a pStyle, and a carrying case to go with it. Keep the plastic ziplock bag the pStyle comes in, stuff it inside the carrying case, clip that to your bag, and pull it out whenever you need to use it. Then wipe it down with some TP (if there's any left in the porto), put it back in the bag, and you're good. Normally you wouldn't want to keep a funnel in the plastic bag, and you'd want the breathability of the fabric carrying case to keep it dry, but I'm not so keen on playa dust being all up in my business, so I just wipe it after every use, keep it sealed in the plastic, then baby wipe it daily when I'm back at my tent. to make sure it's clean.

u/Lurkndog · 2 pointsr/bugout

Some more suggestions:

Don't forget about the need to go to the bathroom. At a minimum, carry a lightweight shovel and some toilet paper. They also sell dedicated mini kits for that purpose. Another suggestion might be to bring along sanitary wipes like Wet Ones that could be used for the same purpose, and to help you clean up when you don't have a shower.

Organize your stuff in large ziploc bags inside your bag or backpack. Ziploc bags are cheap and weigh nothing, and they will also give your supplies some protection against water should you get caught in the rain or have to wade through water.

u/taintedbloop · 16 pointsr/trashy

I have experience with this. See, the best technique is to put the tip of your wang up against the opening of the bottle so that the pee goes inside the bottle. However as you start to pee, the pressure will build up because you need to displace some of the air in the bottle. So gently push down on your tip to create a slight air gap (bonus points to do this from the beginning). This likely requires two hands though and It'd be hard while driving.

If you don't wanna do that, while we're talking amazon, they've got these things which you could pee in while driving. If they're too expensive, you could make your own; all that's in those things is the magic ingredient which you can buy in bulk on ebay for cheap: Sodium polyacrylate. Used in magic tricks and has all types of uses.

So this is all going to depend wildly on your lease, but if the lease that both parties signed doesn't say anything about not being able to do laundry, he has no legal grounds to stand on in order to force you to not do laundry at your place.

Leases are beautiful things for renters - if the landlord tries to do stuff outside of the lease (raising rent, telling you to no do laundry), you have the legal right to tell him to fuck off. I absolutely would not give him any concessions that cause you harm just because he can't properly manage a rental property.

With all of that being said - if for some reason it is in the lease that you can't do laundry, go on amazon and order a portable washer like THIS and a clothesline that will allow you to still do laundry without having to go somewhere to do it. Hope this helps!

Jetsons

I think this is pretty unique, but useful!

Sorry missed part of the paste- meant to say treating
Down post purchase with down treatments like Nikwax downproof, etc.
Does it perform like downtek or does the treatment residue affect the lining breathability?
Does it really improve the down’s water resistance?

Is this worth the cost/hype?

Pro Tip: always good to have disposable emesis bag in your car, especially if you are frequently a DD in your own car. Good ones have a one way valve.

u/cwcoleman · 1 pointr/CampingandHiking

The Wag Bag is definitely the most popular option where I've gone.

I also have this setup, although I haven't used it:

Lots of people here have obviously never gone camping, hunting or working in the wilderness for long periods away from sanitary facilities in a leave-no-trace environment. Pooping/peeing in bags is easy, private, and not the slightest bit degrading. Check out these products (you might even want to pop them in your car or van for long road trips -- especially with kids):

Carry these or an equivalent for women, as appropriate.

I use a p-style for backpacking. I've been considering bringing it on long rides, too. It's never fun to peel off the bib shorts and expose my backside to the world...

u/RandyFeFiBobandy · 3 pointsr/Velo

This might seem a little weird but I keep a couple of these Disposable Urinals in my cycling bag and when there are not "facilities" available and you have to piss before a ride you can use one while in your car and it's very discreet and convenient.

u/youngbridget · 1 pointr/TrollXChromosomes

I primarily bought it for camping, but have used my pstyle in gross public restrooms at least as much as I have camping. I think every girl should have one!
