Totally worth the money:
A drill that will actually drill holes. I bought a POS drill (50 bucks) and it had no power to it. I finally dropped 250 on this and well worth every penny:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DG7SYYI
If you're doing any type of wood working and you want to join peices of wood securely and have it look nice look into the Kreg Pocket Hole Jig:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000J43A7W
I also purchased this guy to help clean up the massive extension cable that I have in my garage. Totally worth it as well:

Also invest in a good pair of safety glasses and dust mask.

Hi guys,

Not quite sure if this is the correct subreddit for this, but here goes:

I am looking for a specific photoframe I have not been able to find yet. I have 3 pairs of photos from University, they were official club/society photos and in each pair there is an "official" shot and a "fun" shot. They are 8"x12" photos, and I would like something like this for them, but I've searched ebay, amazon, etc and had no luck. EDIT: I also found this but the frames are custom order and at least 30-40 pounds per, and that's a bit beyond my budget. I'd prefer something closer to 10-20 per.

Has anyone seen something like this? Please help!

Thanks!

Added a pull down extension cord reel in the center of the garage by the garage opener. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077H2H3LV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_G5QiDbWRKXRVZ

Added a WiFi extenders around the house. Opted for the repeated type that aren’t broadcasted under a different network name.

Replaced front entry light with motion sensing light. They make nice, decorative ones that don’t look like prison spotlights.

Plywood over the trusses in my attic for safer, easier storage.

In-wall safe that is hidden behind clothes in closet. Best place to keep cash and small firearms.

Universal keypad opener for the garage.

Couple of USB outlets in the kitchen.

My sectional couch has a small armrest console, I ran an extension cord to it and keep a phone charger plugged in there. It’s so convenient to charge my phone from my favorite spot on the couch without any visible wires.

I'm not sure if this will work for that hose in particular, but I have one of the typical light blue rubber hoses and I use an extension cord spool (similar to this) that's wide enough for it. It's not perfect, but it is nice once you get going since you can easily keep it elevated and just walk along the length of the tube while rolling. It rolls up fairly easily and since it's elevated and getting compressed on the spool, it fully empties it at the same time. It's been better than trying to roll it up in my hands.

I have this same electric corded mower and I freaking love it! I've had it for 4 years now and it works perfectly.

I DO NOT miss using a smelly gas mower. I always hated having to go fill up the little gas can and smell up the trunk of my car, then when you're using the mower it stinks, and when you're done your garage will smell like gas for a couple days. Keep this in mind OP, you're currently storing the mower in your basement? I would absolutely hate to have to lug a gas mower down some steps and have it stink up my basement.

As far as the cord, it's really not that big of a deal if you just plan right and get used to it. Make sure you at least pick up one of these to roll/unroll. Just get into a pattern of rolling out the cord on the ground along the side of the yard with the plug, and mow from that side of the yard to the other, keeping the cord on the side you've already cut. (I cut a bit weird though, I don't turn around at the end of each row and always push forward, I stay facing the same direction and just walk forwards and backwards, scooting the mower over a bit before going in the other direction. This makes cord management way easier IMO.) I'd rather deal with a cord all day long than a gas can. And I also DON'T miss going to start that gas mower for the first time of the season and... damnit... fucker won't start... pull... pull... pull... take a break... pull... pull... cuss... pull... fiddle with it... pull 20 more times... IT STARTED! ^(((pray it doesn't stall on some tall grass cuz you may never get it started again!!)))

I love how quiet the electric mower is, and as many times as I want I'll let go of the safety bar to let it turn off so I can pick something up that's in the way, and it starts right back up immediately at the touch of a button. Sooooooo freaking nice.

One thing to think about if you're considering a reel mower. I tried one too before I got the electric one. It didn't work out. If you have ANY amount of little twigs (even tiny ones) or pecans or large acorns, you're going to get about 2 feet and it will get hung up and you'll have to fiddle with it in order to get another 2 feet before it happens again. If you grass is clear of all that, then yes, they are a pleasure to use. I wish I could myself, but it's just impossible with the constant falling of bits from huge branches covering most of my lawn.

u/locallyunscene · 1 pointr/Vive

One thing to keep in mind is that the cable isn't as big of a deal as you think it will be. You're not going to be spinning around much (bad idea in general), and it's more natural than you think. Every use a corded drill or a vacuum cleaner? Now think about how much easier ti would be to use if the cord was always out of the way behind you by being attached to your back.

I had the same idea as you when the Vive was announced from what I've heard from developers and other first hand experiences it's not a good idea.

Here are some of the components I was considering:

Extension cord winder for the garage. Wonderful!

I use the Wonder Winder. It actually works pretty good as long as it isn't cold outside.

u/Gaslight_13 · 2 pointsr/vinyl

Haha, I live in Reuver and was born in Mönchengladbach....

I think this one comes close: http://www.amazon.de/dp/B005EWBJPO/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1ZLIUCH2E2016&coliid=IIRSUX86863FT

It's a multipurpose 12V powersupply and it's stabilized and from the ratings it's a rather good one.

u/calley479 · 1 pointr/geek

I don't see why they couldn't make one out of these retractable cords.

30' is way more than I need in the livingroom. If they scaled it down, I could see something like this working very well.

u/drewdp · 1 pointr/hammockcamping

What about two lines and these

Those make adjusting either side really easy, plus it gives you a reason to buy stuff on amazon.

u/toybuilder · 1 pointr/manufacturing

Why do you have a lot of extension cords? Do you need to better distribute power with a long power-strip pole or a spring-driven power reel mounted overhead?

u/Piyrate · 2 pointsr/TeslaModel3

I got it on amazon for like $9. Gecko’s Toes

u/XXFirefighter · 44 pointsr/whatisthisthing

It's a electrical cord winder...

I use something almost exactly like this for my beach lines.

OP: I'm in Canada I bought this one off amazon: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B000FPANH0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This gives me an idea for the future. Turning spools into quick windup tools like this.

They have recoiling extension cords, like this http://www.amazon.com/Shop-Basics-Retractable-Cord-Reel/dp/B001DSXDL6/

u/ImaginaryCheetah · 1 pointr/electricians

i would still avoid trying to plug into a ceiling light socket ( ,_,)

surely there must be plenty of wall outlets in a new home.

as for tripping over the cord, if you have a long enough cord, it's less of an issue, because you can lay the cord along the walls, instead of stretching it directly across the floor.

maybe a retractable cord would be a good option, so that you don't have extra cord to deal with, but plenty for reach.

yeah, /u/crackeddryice , i think you are trying to invent something that a lot of different companys already have invented.

just one that comes to mind...

Learn how to properly wrap them. Like this guy. Or this one. Or get a spool/reel and spool them.

u/TheMerovingian · 3 pointsr/howto

For extension cords that long, why aren't these more common?

u/matuba · 1 pointr/DIY

You should consider getting a Wonder Winder to store your cord. I love that thing. It makes tangled cord messes a thing of the past.

u/WhtRbbt222 · 3 pointsr/techsupportmacgyver

Am low voltage tech.

We use these.

u/Shwingdom · 1 pointr/PCSleeving

I don't think that you really need a spool to store that little amount of wire, but........
Odd thing is, this is the cheapest route to go and will hold whatever you want to throw on there. Or this one

u/gthirst · 2 pointsr/volt

I frequently use an extension cord with a reel, since I do it so often. Pretty much every time I go to work and the outlets are too far for the stock EVSE. 6 months and no trouble. I put it underneath the car with the EVSE to avoid rain issues. It also has a built in breaker.

u/Why_T · 2 pointsr/howto

I opened the video and disliked it a lot. I don't think it belongs. So I down voted it. Then I watched the video and I hated it so much I tried to down vote it again.

That was just taking 2 things and making 1 out of it. They just reboxed an extension cord reel. For this to be an actual helpful video you'd have to have both those things and destroy them to make a different thing.

You can just buy this. It's already a thing. This DIY isn't useful to anyone.
