UWorld
This is the absolutely most important resource for you to use. If you are going to do nothing else to prepare for Step 3, then this is what I would recommend.
UWorld

it will highlight your areas of weakness and point you towards the areas you should be spending the most time.
NBME
Review Books
Review books should be used as a way to supplement your knowledge, refresh yourself on topics that you may not have seen for several years, and to address material that you are struggling to learn through the question bank.
The recommended books are:

USMLE STEP 3 Preparation Plan:
1. Start early
Different preparation times have been suggested, Depending on what you are doing, if you are in residency or not, at
least 3-4 weeks of dedicated studying for the exam is needed.
2- Q Banks:
NBMEs can be used as a way of predicting your final score. Take an NBME at the very beginning of your Step 3 study
period. Doing this can give you a baseline score, and will often make students much less nervous about the exam.
2. Consider using tutor
Live tutor can save a lot of your time reviewing your weak points whether they are ccs, biostats or pharmacology. that
will allow a more focused approach to your studying.
3. Master Clinical Case Simulation (CCS) Questions
CCS accounts for 25% of your final score, before going to the exam, make sure that you practice the cases and you
understand the principles about the software
4. Don’t underestimate Biostats, preventive medicine, Abstract/ pharm ads and pharmacology questions
The exam had a significant number of biostats questions, more than prior steps. These topics are as important as
internal medicine and pediatrics in the exam.
Serenity and peace can be yours. Fearing the future is normal, but grasping the possibilities ahead of you is a given right, everybody is deserving.
One of the most treasured memories both from the past and ongoing is my video blog of my families life stories. I discovered a book when I was younger that is full of questions that encourage the re-living of the past.
You can literally sit down in a nice setting a few times a year and spend a few hours at a time recording the stories of your loved ones. It covers from their first memories to just yesterday. Plus anything they remember about their grandparents...it's all encompassing.
Having this well rounded information will be so amazing to your life, It will make you realize just how special your life is. What it took for you to be here, and how much life you have ahead of you. You will see in full bloom the trials and tribulations your family has been through and yet they survived...it will give you such strength and confidence.
I cannot encourage you enough to start on this journey. Here is the book: Good luck to you:

Along those lines, get them each a grandparent's book, something like this. The look on their faces when they open the gift would be amazing. Plus, you'd have treasured memories from them to pass on to all(?) your kids. :)
Not exactly what you are looking for but, maybe something like this: https://www.amazon.ca/Memories-My-Grandchild-Keepsake-Grandparents/dp/144130262X/ref=pd_sbs_14_3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=R64SJ7K1276SF9M6YR1C would be good for both of you? She can have some self reflection and you can have a nice keepsake.
Don't be frustrated. My great-grandmother tried to teach me to crochet. As a kid, I never got it. About two years ago, I saw a crochet turtle that I wanted to make, because I'm weird and cheap. I bought the pattern, found some yarn, got the hooks, and started up with Naztazia's YouTube guidance. It might help, it might not. I find that I need a video to explain stitches more than reading instructions.
Everyone learns differently. And crochet and gardening do not a good grandmother make. I grew up with a never-going-to-be-crafty Grandma, and don't feel emotionally scarred from it.
Also, this is silly and fun.
Have you seen this book?

I'm not sure how much longer my own dad is going to be around, so it's so important for baby to know his/her amazing grandfather in some way. It's a beautiful book that makes me cry going through it (blank).
I bought some of these books and had them fill them out. Now I pick a story or two each time we get together and video record them telling the stories. I've learned so many cool things that I never would've about my parents. I used this one and another one that is a little shorter without daily entries. They make them for grandparents too, FYI.

edit: I got this one for my Grandmother since she's in her 80's and her handwriting isn't the best and there's a little less to write. There's a bunch of different types if you look around a bit. :) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/144130262X/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
There are many books about toxic mother-in-laws such as this one. Find one that appeals to you and apply the principles carefully. This will put you in a stronger position and you'll feel less helpless. Remember, some situations have no cure but you can learn to cope better in time.
What about those books that the grandparents fill up with their personal stories and memories. My gram did this for me although she is still living I love reading through the stories of her life

Edit. I also wanted to say I'm very very sorry you're going through this
Are there grandparents classes offered at your local hospital? Ours offered them to keep grandparents up to date on new guidelines. Or maybe get her a book like this one? https://www.amazon.com/Todays-Grandmother-changed-how-grandmother/dp/0991939409/ref=sr_1_13?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1526655313&sr=1-13&keywords=grandparents+book
My grandparents. I found To Our Children's Children at a bookstore ages ago and thought it looked like un. It's basically a book full of questions about a person's life, childhood, school, dating, marriage, work, etc. What I did was, over the course of...a long time, I can't remember how long, I would email them three of the questions, then they could write up however much of an answer they wanted to and email it back, then I'd email the next three, and so on. Then once we had finally gone through all of the questions, I formatted them and printed them out and made a book out of the answers for each of them. It was pretty interesting. I tried getting my parents and my other grandparents to do it too, but they weren't really interested.
Since he's a new grandpa, you could give him a keepsake book like this.
We got my MIL this book. Have NO idea how it is. But it has pretty high ratings on Amazon so we gave it a shot!
We are getting this for my parents from Amazon. It's a grandparents memory book. I think it's right up my mom's alley. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/144130262X/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1481305860&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=memories+for+my+grandchild&dpPl=1&dpID=41Vxsd%2BrWEL&ref=plSrch
That's exactly what I thought (although I did make her an email for people to write to and when she's older I'll give her the passcode. I guess I figure I'll print them out if I hear Gmail is going under? Lol) I bought these for my mom and MIL too. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/144130262X/ref=pd_aw_sim_14_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=MJEX0T1XTQJS9MCZP8F7
Sounds like your mom has issues that need to be worked out.
However, lets go back. When your mom was growing up, there weren't disabled kids around. They were either in institutions, kept at home all the time, or at special schools. They were rarely out in public. There was a lot of shame involved. They were seen as lazy, stupid, and violent. So your mom has this mindset. Plus, when your mom was a bus driver, the kids were still pretty segregated from the rest of the school population and rules about restraints were pretty loose. (I am in no way excusing what she did, just bringing things into context.)
So here is a book
There is also this
When you talk to her, you need to establish ground rules. What to do when your son gets upset, how she is never allowed to touch him, etc.
