Do you know what your skin type is? Combination, oily, dry, normal?
I don't really suffer from acne but I do get the occasional breakout (I'm a woman haha.) I have friends that suffer with acne and I'm always recommending they try the more natural route i.e. natural products
I've never used any CeraVe products, nor Stridex. But I know that Stridex has been known to aggravate acne.
What I would recommend you try is the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay face mask. You mix it with apple cider vinegar and leave it on for about 30 minutes and your skin will be beet red for about an hour afterwards (use it at night only. once a week) but when you wake up in the morning your skin will be glowing from within. Honestly, it's that good. It has transformed my skin.
If the products you've purchased don't work for you, I would either recommend Cetaphil's Gentle Skin Cleanser because it's, well, gentle! Or my personal favorite... Honey! I cleanse with organic honey (this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000Z93FQC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and I love it. I leave it on for about 10 minutes afterwards and it's amazing. It's naturally antibacterial, moisturizing, and clarifying; It opens up your pores and unclogs them!
Using a moisturizer is also very important, but I can't really recommend one because I don't know your skin type!
I completely understand what you mean! I tried honey masks years ago and had the exact same problems, but I’ve brushed up a bit on my technique and it’s been working great for me. Here’s my routine:
AM:
In the morning while I’m taking a shower, I take a bit of a glob of this honey (the amount honestly doesn’t matter) and massage it into my face for a couple of minutes. Since my face is already a bit damp, the honey glides on effortlessly and has a very silky smooth texture, similar to an OCM mineral oil massage. When I finally rinse it off, there's absolutely no sticky residue.
PM:
The evenings are similar. Basically, I do everything I do in the AM (no shower required, though), but instead of working the honey onto damp skin, I wear this zinc soap as a mask, and then when it dries I gently work the honey into it (this will definitely give you flashbacks of working with honey because it’s a little trickier), gradually add water to get it to the same slippery consistency, and then proceed to massage it into skin.
I mention the soap because although I feel like honey is an awesome alternative to regular OCM, I feel like honey alone won’t be able to completely remove your makeup, however, this combination works great for me.

ETA: fear cuts deeper than swords
Im also using pure honey, it has to be 100% raw honey, basically straight from the hive and put in a tub/jar
I use Maunka Honey, every second day use it as a face mask and leave it for around 3 hours, and then every day inbetween use it as like a facewash/cleanser but leave it for 30mins-1hr
basically you mix it with water, make sure to natural water from a bottle from the shop, since people say there is stuff in tap water like chlorine that will affect it
and best way to wash it off i think is if your doing it before you go for a shower, dip your face in the sink ( cold water ) , some of the honey will dissolve off, but the rest use the tip of your fingers gently to get the rest off or any dry/crystallised bits and then go for a shower after
since sitting under the shower trying to get the honey off will make your sub derm more red and irritate same with the pressure of the water if its a good shower
I use this stuff, little expensive but its pretty good
hthttps://www.amazon.co.uk/Steens-Unpasteurized-Naturally-Occuring-Beebread/dp/B006ZXNC7E/ref=pd_bxgy_325_img_3?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01L90UG8A&pd_rd_r=MB3APZRV4224HTFSCGJ7&pd_rd_w=OWjpE&pd_rd_wg=d2dZQ&refRID=MB3APZRV4224HTFSCGJ7&th=1
I like this one cause its a bigger jar, i would get the UMF 10+ one but its a smaller jar and more money
This is the Honey I use!
https://www.amazon.com/Eco-Bee-Farms-HONEY-Unpasteurized/dp/B006MWDFUC/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1486175863&sr=1-1&keywords=Y.S.+Eco+Bee+Farms+Raw+Honey
You can get it at Whole Foods, Sprouts (health stores) in a smaller size and for cheaper. You can use other brands, just make sure it says raw, unfiltered honey, or something like that. Don't use the liquid honey in the bear bottle. That honey has been heated so it kills all the good enzymes and stuff which is good for you skin! Whatever raw honey you get should be solid/semi solid in a jar, and the color is usually light orange or yellow. If you buy it and the honey is too solid to use, I usually just run the closed car under hot water until it's soft and spreadable.
I just use a glob on my face and massage it in. Don't put too much or it might drip haha. Leave it on for 20 minutes to one hour! (you can leave it on longer, it's not irritating and so gentle) It's super moisturizing and naturally anti-bacterial so it helps with acne while moisturizing.
I recommend you google "Raw Honey Face Mask Benefits" or "Benefits of Raw Honey on Face"! They have a bunch of good articles! If you decide to do the mask let me know how it worked for you!
For what purpose? Taste-wise, I do actually like agave as a substitute for honey. Maple syrup also works for that. Agave is the same if not higher in calories though.
For a sugar-free/low-cal substitute, your best bet would be a sugar-free syrup. I use Queen's sugar-free maple-flavored syrup as a substitute in cooking and baking and it honestly works pretty well, but I have built up a tolerance for sweeteners, lol. I have never seen a specific sugar-free honey substitute, but a quick Google shows that they exist, though I can't attest to how they taste. Have a look around stores in your area and see if they carry any sugar-free or low-sugar syrups or alternatives.
Edit: That's not to say of course that there are no benefits to honey or agave or maple syrup over plain sugar. I would argue that all three are "healthier" for you than plain sugar in that they have additional health benefits, however slight, so any of those might be "better" for you if you're coming at this from a health angle and not a calorie angle. I would also say, even as someone who sucks back artificial sweeteners like I'm being paid to do it, that any real sugar in moderation is probably better than sweeteners in excess, lmao. For sweeteners I think xylitol is considered the "healthiest" (other than stevia?) but it's also surprisingly high in calories.
I also just remembered that "coconut nectar" exists, which Google suggests is comparable to sugar or agave.
Calories in 15ml (.5oz / 1TBSP) of...
Honey: 65
Agave: 43
Sugar: 49
Coconut nectar: 55
Sugar-free maple-flavor syrup: 8~
Different brands will of course vary. But point is, agave and especially honey aren't "sugar-free" or "low cal" alternatives to sugar, it's more about taste and general preference, and I worry for people on diets (or especially who need to avoid sugar, like diabetics) drowning everything in honey or agave based on advice like this. 😟
You can get it on Amazon, but you want one that is UMF certified for maximum results.

She started beekeeping as a hobby about 5 years ago. My dad had hives when we were little but the neighborhood kids wrecked them all the time so he gave up. If you do any research on honeybees at all...it's absolutely fascinating. The hive is it's own world, totally self sufficient as long as pollen sources are available. Our area is particularly attractive to honey aficionados. There isn't any commercial agriculture here so the honey is of a very high standard.
If anyone is interested, there are a lot of things you can do besides having active hives. Plant good pollen sources in your yard etc. It's important to ask your local nursery for plants that haven't been treated with pesticides. They travel through the plant and are detrimental to honeybees. Also, if you happen to have an infestation, don't just call an exterminator, see if there are beekeepers in your area that can cut the hive out and relocate them. Honeybees are essential to keep our food supplies adequate. Sorry for the wall of text, but her passion for honeybees is infectious!
Raw manuka honey is what I use! Usually from this brand. Manuka honey comes from tea tree and so has a slightly medicinal but sweet smell and is dark and thick compared to processed honey. I find it does a much better job than regular raw honey at helping to heal acne (this info is of course anecdotal, the effects of honey and manuka honey on acne aren't widely studied unfortunately), but both still have excellent wound healing and humectant properties. If you're not too worried about your acne and are already fighting it on other fronts with BHAs, benzoyl peroxide, niacinamide, vitamin A, etc I wouldn't worry about splurging for fancy honey. The main benefit of the raw kind is that it isn't as drippy. I like honey because it helps cleanse my skin and leaves it feeling incredibly soft.
I'm cold crashing and stabilizing a 6-month old batch of that mead as we speak, to be bottled very soon. It was made with three pounds of arizona desert wildflower honey and a half pound of local wildflower honey. I used US-05 because I am a brewer by hobby so I always keep some on hand, also I didn't know if I would like a dry mead. I guess in terms of overall sweetness it's pretty similar to a typical soda, but I haven't honestly measured either yet.
Things that are good to know: for a straight mead, find tasty honey- good honey makes good mead. Sanitizing is key- assuming you wash everything with some starsan solution (or whatever sanitizer you use) you shouldn't have a batch ruining infection. Most importantly don't get discouraged if the result sucks- I know you're dumping lots of money into honey and waiting 6 months, but nobody perfected an art on their first attempt and you might not either. That's ok.
I would imagine that they use the same suppliers for both products, though there may be something in the refinement process that makes the instant oatmeal have a higher concentration of weed killer for some reason. It really sucks but you're just going to have to check the back of boxes from now on to make sure that you're getting something that's actually decent for your kids (just a tip, the World Health Organization suggests that we limit our daily sugar intake to 25g).
As for a healthier alternative, you could try regular steel cut oats, this is a pretty good + affordable brand. They take a little longer to prepare but you can control how much sugar you're putting into them (I like putting in jams and fruits, personally). There are many other brands too, and honestly they're like one of the easiest things to learn how to make, check out this video.
If you've got picky kids that have to have their foot sweetened, whole fruits (like fruit you chop up yourself and put in there) are ideal because they have lots of micronutrients in them and fiber, but good jams (not jelly, jelly is made from "juice" while jam at least contains pieces of crushed fruit) can be a decent option for sweetening foods, same with raw honey.
i just got mine on amazon, lol! here's a link to the one i got: LINK
i've barely used half of the jar so far and i've had it for 3 months, you really only need a few teaspoons to cover your entire face. but you could also look in local health food stores, too! manuka honey is supposed to be the best for it but i'm a cheapo sometimes and this has worked great for me to just boost hydration and help heal acne a lil bit.
definitely get you something water based without any Titanium Dioxide. i love the Bad Dragon Clear Cumlube and it’s never caused me problems. :3 i would also like to recommend a couple other things that secured my recovery. the first one is a UVEECLEAN medical grade UVC light box that uses germicidal ultraviolet to destroy all micrograms on the DNA level. it was great for while i was vulnerable to get infections because it allowed me to have a level of sterilization that was on par with a one hour 1part bleach 9part water soak in ten minutes. it’s the same technology that is being used along side autoclaves in hospitals and is used extensively in dentistry for tool sterilization. i still use it before and after i use my toys and it’s really improved my toying experience because even without the Titanium Dioxide actively doing damage i still have swung to the sensitive side of the spectrum because of my problems last year and so it has really helped to keep me from sudden infections. :3 another thing i use are Good Clean Love’s wipes and balance wash. they have helped me a lot with keeping my PH balanced and biofilm microbiome healthy. :3 and last but not least YOGURT, real Manuka honey and some probiotics supplements! i can’t stress how helpful these were to incorporate into my daily diet! all of these four (if we include never using the white lube ever again) factors are the reason that i was able to fully recover in one month flat! :D i wish you the the absolutely quickest recovery possible and hope that what helped me may also help you. :3
Raw honey can help me; maybe packets like these would be best in class? It's great it warm tea too - you could bring a thermos.

I would definitely try to figure out what's triggering it, though.
Lol. What if the entire world "Jericho'd" China. We all went out bought ourselves a thing of bear honey and sent it to the palace. Like millions and millions of little bears of honey delivered to him.
Anyone want to join? Pretty sure you coudl Amazon it there. :P
Edit: If somebody can get the address we can do this. Heck set your smile.amazon to a pro-HK charity and you can double up! A choice here
You can get all you need for about 30 bucks. You need a hydrometer a 1 gallon carboy and and air lock. Consumables are yeast honey and nutrients. Make sure your hydrometer doesn't bottom out in you gallon jug, or have a thief to measure in. They are optional for a first mead, but they tell you so much about your wine. Like when its done, if it stalled and other important shit.
https://www.amazon.com/Kirkland-Signature-Pure-Honey-Pound/dp/B007F2EQEW Is a good honey to start with, you can find them at costco for 15$ honey is endlessly debatable and I won't get into it. You need about 3 lbs per gallon.
Lavin 47d is a pretty hard yeast to go wrong with. There are 100's of good yeasts.
This is a good yeast nutrient. http://www.midwestsupplies.com/wyeast-yeast-nutrient-1-5-oz.html it has everything you need in it. There is a ton of information on dozens of nutrient addition styles. This one is simple, add a quart teaspoon at start and then at 24 and 48 hours after pitch. Again, whole papers can and are written about proper nutrition. Look at the wiki for massive amounts of info and some great starting recipes.
I have to tell you all about my favorite at home facial routine! If I do this 2x/week my skin has never been better!
My skin: Normal, acne prone (26y/o)
Step 1: Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing Peel ($40) - apply thin layer on clean skin for 10-15 mins. Rinse. Towel pat dry.
Step 2: Freeman Avocado + Oatmeal Clay Mask ($4) - leave on until it dries. Rinse. Towel pat dry.
Step 3: Raw Honey (price varies) - Leave on as long as you want! The longer the better! Try for a min of 30 mins. Rinse. Towel pat dry.
Step 4: Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil ($40) - massage 2-3 drops into skin
Step 5: Serums and moisturize as usual!
I did, but I'm pretty skeptical of amazon reviews. I think a lot of companies can easily fake them. For ever product that is 5 stars if you click on the 1 star reviews, the product always ends up being a nightmare. I did this for the #1 seller on amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Y-S-Eco-Bee-Farms-Honey/product-reviews/B000Z93FQC/ref=cm_cr_dp_qt_hist_one?ie=UTF8&filterByStar=one_star&showViewpoints=0) and the 1 star reviews are pretty convincing.

This is what I used, it’s $22 for 3 pounds kinda expensive, but honey is expensive haha the way I think of it is spending $22 for a gallon of delicious mead is not too bad.
Yes! I could be wrong, but I believe it's mostly popular in pizza shops in New York. At least it definitely is popular there. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B011LWRBES/ref=sxts_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1510867133&sr=1
So I got this Skellington Jack mug in Pheonix when I went down there to visit a friend. I got both her and I one, her's broke within a week, while I still have my mug 2 years later. I love this mug so much because of the fact that it's Jack, and it's HUGE, I also love the little The End that's in the bottom of the mug~
This is tea related on my wishlist (But you don't have to get me this, I just think it's the coolest tea related item on my list)
Of all the silly nonsense, this is the stupidest tea party I've ever been to in all my life.
There are some really good sugar free honeys on the market if you like that as a syrup substitute. This one is my favourite.
These would be perfect for you :)
After a digestive disaster involving a long run and some jelly beans, I realized I needed something less processed. I've been using these honey packets with good success. They're the perfect size for that little key pocket in my shorts, and my body digests it without any problems.
I'm a fan of plain ol' water, but sugar drinks can upset my stomach so YMMV. I've heard good things about using nuun before, so that may be a good one for you!
Snacks, I generally use on 14 miles +. Here are some options:
Keto-friendly honey mustard!
Mix equal parts high-fat mayo, dijon/deli mustard, and sugar-free honey. This makes a great honey mustard for a dip or glaze.
Note that for the sugar-free honey, you may be able to find it locally. My local Wal-Mart had it for only $2 or so, not the $17 extortion on Amazon.
If you want to buy in bulk I would go with the 60lb pails from Dutch gold, or these 12lb bottles on Amazon since it has free shipping https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B016G4JPZE/ref=ox_sc_act_image_10?smid=A81U3ALZHCL16&psc=1
This honey was the best pirce I could find. https://www.amazon.com/Kirkland-Signature-Pure-Honey-Pound/dp/B007F2EQEW/ref=sr_1_2_s_it?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1497983364&sr=1-2&keywords=5%2BPound%2BHoney&th=1
When your wife has a glass she will ask for more.
I think you can get a near equivalent by buying honey that has hardened over time in the jar or "sugared" -- I love that stuff. Here's one that shows that it is solidifying already: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000Z93FQC/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1
Actually, spicy honey is REALLY good!

I've used this one with success.
YS Eco Bee Farms RAW HONEY - Raw, Unfiltered, Unpasteurized - Kosher 3lbs https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006MWDFUC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_3d.czbPWXM1XN
One with Z1B-1122 and one with EC-1118 yeast. Both have some raisin, but nothing for flavor yet.
When the 1122 is nearly done I'll finish it with 1118 to get the higher ABV and compare flavor.
Yes, the one on the right has more head room, but the one on the left has 1/3lb more honey. Trying to keep as close to the same as possible aside from yeast.
This is the honey being used
Raw honey and oatmeal. Raw honey is a humectant and helps your skin retain moisture, and oatmeal is soothing for dry and/or irritated skin. I use this a few times a week and it helps quite a bit.
Also very easy to find here in VA. Matter of fact we bought this at our Costco recently - http://www.amazon.com/Nature-Nates-Unfiltered-Honey-Ounce/dp/B00CMQD3VS
I got this one. Its plastic
I wouldnt say its prone to exploding I had glass bottles of it transport through turkish postal services in mid august from rural villages before and nothing had happened. I'd assume the usps has a better handling service than them.
I just contributed it to the 'things happen' category in my head.
I’ve never heard of it aside from this place. Buts it’s called mikes hot honey so it sounds like it might be marketed outside just this place
Edit: https://www.amazon.com/Mikes-Hot-Honey-12-oz/dp/B011LWRBES
I'm no expert, but I don't think that is too much of an issue. How much honey are you actually using? Also if you're trying to lose weight, I'd say don't eat too much fruit and honey.
I highly recommend raw honey like this one http://www.amazon.com/YS-Royal-Jelly-Honey-Bee/dp/B000Z93FQC I make a steak glaze with it every once in a while and it is phenomenal.
I think Hot Honey is like if honey had a hotter sister?
On Amazon.com
Honey Sticks
Honey Packets
200 9g packets for 21 dollars, or 50 honey sticks for 10 dollars.
A stick of honey seems to be about 5 grams, so it's either 1800 g for 21 dollars or 250g for 10 dollars/500 g for 20 dollars.
Packets are probably cheaper.
Edit: Thinking out loud... or thinking written down.
Gu pack: 32g, and 25g of carbs. 93 cents a pack, so 672 g for 20 dollars.
In order of cheapness:
Honey Packet > Gu Energy Gel > Honey Sticks
Assuming you get everything off Amazon.com of course.
Lurker here. The "Honey spoons" and such I've bumped into were made by mixing honey with candy and corn syrup. They taste not very good, but if used to stir tea until they're dissolved (their purpose) they're not too bad.
It's simple. If the honey is a runny liquid, avoid it. While it likely still is honey, it goes through a filtering process that removes all the stuff that makes honey healthy. Honey should be solid (not rock hard or anything) and NOT see through.
I get my honey on Amazon.
Those packets are .31 oz each. You're looking at using at least 77 packets (1.5 pounds) for a growler-sized batch of mead, probably closer to 100 since I doubt you'll get all of the honey from each packet. Unless you're getting the box of them for something crazy like $2 each, you're better off saving yourself some time and increasing the potential quality of your mead by using some store-bought honey.
Packets of sugar or honey?

Something like these? If that was an issue I had to deal with I would keep something on my person in order to counteract it.
For the PB&J you could also do packets of honey or packets of jelly
i really like this one http://www.amazon.com/YS-Royal-Jelly-Honey-Bee/dp/B000Z93FQC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1321218917&sr=8-1 so yummy
*edit - damn shipping went up a lot! last time was 99 cents
