> Thanks for the reply! The bowlingball.com scale helps a lot when comparing different manufacturers.

Pleasure! And yes, it does. I've found it's pretty dang accurate so it's helpful for comparing apples to oranges (or C300 to Roto Grip, but you get the point haha)

EDIT I'd go with 15# if I were you. No real reason to be throwing 16# unless you just throw everything else 25mph or something lol

> Would you recommend going with a symmetric core?

Yes, I would definitely recommend a symmetric core for your first ball. It won't be as flashy as an asym, but will also be a bit easier to control and work well as a ball to build around as you expand your arsenal.

> I have looked at the Storm Rocket Ship and am considering that one but will definitely talk to the pro shop next time I go. I have a friend who has the Storm Code Black which I tossed a few times and liked; do you think that would be harder to control due to its core?

I actually had a chance to throw the Rocket Ship, Code Black, and a bunch of other stuff at a Storm/RG demo day last week (write-up is here). The RS would be a fantastic ball to get - I'd also take a look at the new Motiv Chronic Paranoia (releases today, IIRC) and the Ebonite GB2 MVP. The Code Black is an awesome ball as well, but it's a bit more specialized - it definitely has a much more violent reaction due to the polished pearl reactive coverstock and asymmetric core.

> Regarding the finish on the balls and how long they will last: I have read people saying they have had a ball "die" and stop hooking after several games. Any tips on a type of ball that would be less prone to this, or does it just require proper cleaning?

Usually it's more like several hundred games, but yeah proper maintenance is key. This is the maintenance schedule that I follow for all of my reactive gear:

  • every shot: wipe off with some sort of towel (I personally use a leather pad like this one, but a microfiber shop towel works too if you want to save a few $$$).

  • after every bowling session: clean everything with a specifically made bowling ball cleaner. I personally use That Purple Stuff, which is on the pricey side but works better than anything else I've used. Tack-Up is another great option.

  • Every (40ish for sanded gear, 60ish for shiny) games: resurface on a ball spinner. This helps to keep fresh coverstock in contact with the lane, leading to a better ball reaction. Also, sanded balls get an effect called "Lane Shine", where the sanded texture essentially wears off after repeated use.

  • Every 75ish games or as needed: have my PSO run the ball through his Jayhawk Detox machine. This is an ultrasonic deep-cleaner machine that does a great job of extracting oil. Brings a ball back to truly like-new performance levels.

Doing this, I have several hundred games on a few balls in my bag (Ebonite GB2 MVP, Track Paradox Pearl, Motiv Graffiti Tag) and they're still going strong with no signs of quitting. :)

    > Without knowing much about cover stocks in general, to me it seems like a ball with a polished coat like the Code Black would be easier to clean the oil off than the matte ones, but I have been unable to find anything on that.

No, not really. If you use a dedicated ball cleaner, this isn't something to worry about.

    > When shooting spares I usually get a house ball and chuck it straight at the pin. I was planning on picking up a T-Zone or Ice Storm to carry as my own spare ball for more consistency and so I could have a proper fit.

YES absolutely. 100% recommend this for anybody.

    > Would you recommend getting the same drill dimensions and weight as my strike ball? I usually throw a lighter house ball because due to the finger placement on house balls I don't have as much control over the heavy ones.

Same weight, same drilling measurements, same everything. The fit & weight should be identical across everything in your bag.

    > Also is plastic the way to go just to pick up straight shots or would it be worth investing in something like the Pitch Black or BTU which could posisbly be more versatile? From what I have read so far, plastic should hook less but can slide where urethane will have a nicer roll but may hook down lane.

Your assessment of plastic vs urethane is correct, and honestly comes down to personal preference. I generally recommend plastic for most bowlers.

Okay, listen, /r/boardgames, we need to have a heart-to-heart. Every time this comes up you bitch and moan about how you'd loooove to try Crokinole but just can't briiiing yourself to pay so much for a fancy board.

And y'know what, I get it. I feel your pain. Crokinole is an awesome game. It's extremely intuitive yet difficult to master, frustrating yet exhilarating, timelessly fast and simple, good for families and competitive gamers alike, and compulsively replayable. It is one of the three board games I have ever gotten my ADD-yet-ruthlessly-practical mother to admit enjoying, and it is one of only two games that my frighteningly competitive wife will ask to play without any prompting and still love me after we are finished playing. But you don't have to drop 200 bucks on a schmancy board just to see if it's something you might like (even though you will like it).

Those dinky little multi-game boards that you can find on the internet and in your grandfather's attic and the local thrift store work just fine, and will give you hours and hours of perfectly good play, at a cost that's way less than what you'd pay for a greased-up carved-wood board.

And what's more, if you do like it (and you will), then you can always upgrade to the fancy board and give the old one to your four-year-old nephew or something, without any regrets. Which leads into my second point, which is that speaking of regrets, I know that you routinely spend 200 dollars and more on those big-box CMON games that you never have a chance to play, just for the privilege of seeing those crappy little injection-molded plastic bits languish forever poised for battle yet never satisfied on your top shelf.

You will play Crokinole. You will like Crokinole. When you pull Crokinole down off of the shelf, all of your friends will smile instead of cringing and girding their loins. Don't you need a game like that? You do. Search your feelings. You know it to be true. Come back to the light side. Nobody wants to play Malifaux with you. Buying Blood Rage will only make you happy for a moment, and that moment will slowly turn sour the longer you try to find someone to play with you. You will pass Crokinole on to your grandchildren someday.

Spa stuff. More than anything, busy and pregnant ladies don't get pampered as they should. Their bodies are going through a lot of changes, from swallowed everything, mood swings, etc. I personally am in love with Lush, their products are wonderful. Specially feet stuffs, their peppermint foot cream and softy, both wonderful. Also, great for achy bones is a nice heating pad or blanket.

You know what else is hard to do when your pregnant? Get off the ground. I'm guessing if she is really in Frisbee she hangs outside a lot. A nice portable chair might be a wonderful gift.

Again, if she is into outdoors sports, Kubb is a wonderful game. It has some of the qualities of a board game but also kind of reminds me of horse shoes too.

As a vet, I also have a book she might love. As a dog lover and a person who love animals, one of the best books I have ever read, The Dogs Who Found Me. This book, I was crying one page and laughing so I though I would pee myself the next.

Then again, if you really don't feel like she NEED any more stuff, there is always giving in her name. Couple years ago I gave bees to a family in my mother's name. She loved it.

It’s real rare that disc golf makes it on the front page, so I have to take this opportunity to try and grow the sport.

First of all disc golf is amazing. While you have to buy your own discs, you can get a starter pack for cheap. Courses are almost always free, and you can search your area to find a course that is close to you very easily. Its an awesome way to get outside and be active for the day, while having a little healthy competition with your friends. If you want to learn this guy’s YouTube channel has a TON of amazing tips and techniques. If you’re interested in watching the pros play (they are fucking incredible) check out Jomez Productions.

It’s an amazing game, and truly my favorite way to spend a day. If anyone has any questions feel free to pm me!

Kubb.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bex-Sport-7710-Kubb-Original/dp/B0006A3LWS/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1395134116&sr=8-2&keywords=kub

This is a great outdoors game that scales brilliantly from 2 players to 10, or even more if folks want to take turns. It's playable pretty much anywhere you can find a patch of flat-ish ground. It's hard to lose the bits. And it's ultimately about throwing wood at other wood, which is about as simple as you can make fun.

It's sometimes referred to as Viking chess.

I dig this out in the summer whenever we have a BBQ, it's a great game to play amongst competitive adults who turn everything into a smacktalk tourney (we even played it at my stag!). But it's also great for family gatherings - even little kids can play alongside the adults and have fun.

I even take it out to the park occasionally, and whenever I do I get a bunch of spectators who want to know what the game is, and where to get it.

My stepmum's husband is a scout leader in the UK - I bought it for him for his birthday and it went down a storm with his troupe. Can't recommend it enough!

But if that's not boardgamey enough, then I'll second votes for things like The Resistance, maybe Citadels?

u/nickyvee · 1 pointr/tabletennis

May I ask why you want one that folds and is NOT two separate pieces?

Tables that fold in half and share 4 wheels between the weight of the entire table are (on average) taller when folded up and significantly heavier (since you are supporting both table tops) making them much harder to move. Just curious why you would want both of those disadvantages?

If you decide to consider a 2 piece I just purchased this STIGA off Amazon and am extremely pleased with it as a rec table for my house.

It is not a high end table but it bounces well, looks nice, is blue, took me 15 minutes to put together, and comes with squeeze clamps like you asked.

You don't need to spend a grand most likely unless you are used to playing on high end tables and really know what you are talking about... but since you are asking these questions... I would argue the STIGA is probably fine for your house.

Hope you don't take too much offense to my comment. Happy shopping and enjoy whatever you end up getting!

u/carloselcoco · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Really, on Monday?

I am pretty sure you will enjoy this one if you decide to drink alcohol. I gifted my friend this one and everyone thought it was the best birthday gift of the party.

You could also go for something like this Tic-Tac-Toe game.

Happy birthday dude!

EDIT: Dudette based on your username. Sorry! :P

u/Grimmbles · 2 pointsr/Darts

When I just wanted a regulation size cheapo board to practice on I ended up with a Viper 777 for ~$50.

It's been fine for me, registers every dart(though I rarely turn it on for practicing) and no more bounce outs than any other board I've used. But it's not great if you want to play with a bunch of friends. Handles 2 people fine but doesn't display everything in perfect detail, like it doesn't show what your individual round score was after all 3 darts. If you just want a cheap full-sized board to practice on it's great, if you want to play all night with friends spend some more money on one of Jake's suggestions.

u/1-Down · 2 pointsr/discgolf

Amazon, Walmart, and some of the other big box stores sell them online.

In-person purchases are trickier. I've had luck with internet searching local disc golf stores but there are definitely areas where they really don't exist. Party stores, gas stations, media stores - it's weird who sells them and who doesn't.

Premium discs run about $15 a pop. Base discs around $8. There is a very real difference in the quality of the plastics here. A lot of people recommend DX plastic to start with because it's cheaper and easier to throw. Personally I found they went to crap waaaaay too quickly - big gouges and scrapes pretty much from the start.

This is the gold standard for starting:

https://www.amazon.com/Innova-Disc-Golf-3-Disc-Colors/dp/B000Q838XW/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1506561217&sr=8-6&keywords=disc+golf+starter+set

Personally I like this set more from a mold stand-point (although the Escape is probably fast for a beginner).

https://www.amazon.com/Dynamic-Discs-Prime-Disc-Starter/dp/B00T6TBNX4/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1506561217&sr=8-16&keywords=disc+golf+starter+set

This set is pricier, but you'll use it forever. Plastic is darn near indestructible and they are useful discs at several play levels - you'll need an arm for the volt though.

Personally though, I'd probably piecemeal one together for a starter kit. A 175g Judge Classic, 170+ E-Mac Truth, 170+ Neutron Switch or Lucid River, and then a light 150g driver like an Opto Air Diamond maybe.

u/agilmore · 4 pointsr/BorderCollie

For a more traditional disc that is durable, but flies relatively well compared to Hero Discs, I would go with a [Hyperflite Jawz] (https://www.amazon.com/Hyperflite-Jawz-Disc-4-Inch-Blueberry/dp/B002CM3O6G) disc. They are puncture resistant and can fly a lot further than the soft rubber or foam discs. They are also softer than Hero Discs, which makes them a little safer. They are more expensive than other discs, but I have had mine for over a year without any punctures holes. They are heavier than Hero Discs so they don't float quite as well, but they can carry some distance, especially compared to the Kong flyers.

u/WorldWideDarts · 4 pointsr/Darts

Meh, I would avoid them. Nothing really wrong with them as far as quality goes but I think you could do a lot better. I would have a look at these. There's a bunch of styles to pick from at all different weights.

But i would also highly recommend you read this. I'm in the USA and it's going to explain why most all of us buy our darts and dart supplies from the UK. You can pick from 100's of darts and they will be in the $16 to $30 price range for some of the nicest darts you can buy.

Just a couple examples... Here is a set of 90% tungsten barrel that cost $17usd before the discount. These things are so nice and the picture doesn't do them any favors. They actually look like this

Also have a look at these Designa Dark Thunders or even these Dragonfires. You can also have a look at the monthly specials or in the clearance section for incredible deals. The selections are a bit overwhelming as there's so much to pick from. Also remember that price has almost nothing to do with quality when it comes to darts and don't ever let anyone tell you differently. They'd be wrong.

You'll also be needed a bunch of stems and flights so check out the combo packs that have a variety for around $4. I would also highly recommend the Designa nylon stems that can be had for 19 cents a set provided you buy 10 or more sets... which you'll eventually need as stems should be looked at as a disposable item. Lot's more to learn but be thankful you came to the right spot 👍

u/PolyPill · 3 pointsr/discgolf

bestdiscgolfdiscs.com suggests a Valkyrie, Roc, and Aviar for 3 discs. They do use Amazon Pay but you can't use a gift card for that, which is why I assume you specify Amazon.

The problem with buying a set is they're just going to give you what ever they have but it will be cheaper than buying individually.

This Innova Set is decent, The TeeBird is my favorite Innova fairway drive and one of the best all around discs and it has a recommended Roc. I can't say anything about the Rhino but I think when you're starting out putters don't matter much. A similar Innoa Set This one is Leopard, Roc, and Aviar. So maybe this is a little safer as most players will agree that Roc and Aviar are solid discs. Then maybe throw in a GStar Valkyrie and you're just over $40 but you've got some solid discs.

This set of 4 Discraft goes right up to your budget but there's no listing of discs so it's a gamble. In the photo you see a Nuke which is a horrible disc for beginners.

This DGA set Is notable because they're all 150 class discs. Lighter discs can be good for absolute beginners but if you did play a little and can throw then light discs might be more of a burden. It all depends on your arm speed, I'd probably suggest this more for women and children. The Squall is a great beginner mid and the Reef is a solid putter. In normal plastic I'd say the Rogue is not good for beginners but being so light it might work.

u/xJonjey · 2 pointsr/discgolf

I recently got my dad a Throwback Sack and it's honestly the highest quality bag I've ever had my hands on. Much nicer than my backpack. This thing has an insulated cooler pocket that's big enough to hold 4 bottles of water with 2 ice packs, keeps them ice cold. Has lots of disc space, putter pocket in the front, mini pocket on the side with a phone pocket and a bottle holder pocket that has a good drawstring and is big enough for a big gatorade bottle. The strap is strong with very good padding, and the two things that set this bag over the top for me were: The back of the bag, where it rests against your body when you're walking the course, has very thick mesh padding. And the second thing is that the bottom of the bag has the biggest rubber feet I've seen on a bag.

Super big fan, and their a newer company so I think they deserve all the shoutouts they can get right now. Currently the bag is on sale for $50, the normal price is $80 and the quality of the construction is worth that, so for $50 it's an absolutely insane deal.

Hello,

I was hoping to get some suggestions in purchasing a table. Essentially I'm trying to find one that isn't too cheap, but isn't absurdly expensive. This is mainly for recreational use in the garage with some friends, but I'd still like one that's pretty good. I was taking a look at this one, any other recommendations?

Darts. You can always go for a higher score, try to hit only prime numbers, etc. Put on some music and play darts in your basement. Or find a pub with a cheap or free to play dartboard. You don't have to talk to anyone if you don't want to, you don't even need to buy a bunch of drinks. Its cheap to start playing, too. Entry level darts are about $15 bucks, and if you want to play at home, you can buy this or something like it for less than $50.

u/ArugulaZ · 1 pointr/retrogaming

I'd love to have a spinner too, but regrettably, the only way to go about this is to roll your own with real arcade parts, or a reasonable facsimile.

https://www.amazon.com/ThunderStick-Arcade-Spinner-for-Arcade1Up/dp/B07P5WJ7BC

https://www.amazon.com/Arcade1Up-12-1-Interface-Board/dp/B07NKJ3SKH/ref=pd_bxgy_21_img_2/137-8884558-5695913?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07NKJ3SKH&pd_rd_r=27bd6228-7203-40d4-9224-57fa99e25505&pd_rd_w=3SKaV&pd_rd_wg=ziJcR&pf_rd_p=a2006322-0bc0-4db9-a08e-d168c18ce6f0&pf_rd_r=2CKKVSS7M2FJQ73TFWBT&psc=1&refRID=2CKKVSS7M2FJQ73TFWBT

That costs over sixty dollars, plus a wooden container and whatever buttons you'll need to complete the build. It's annoying, but the MacGyver'ed solutions I've attempted have been unsatisfactory at best.

It's probably going to be the same deal with a twin stick, but that may not cost as much. I imagine two arcade sticks, a few buttons, and an encoder (along with another box) would do the trick. Maybe disassemble an old arcade stick from Hori or MadCatz, take out most of the buttons and replace them with a second stick, and wire up the action buttons (triangle, cross, square, blue diamond, purple horseshoe, et al) to the second stick for best results.

Hello

I found these two from Amazon

300 usd refurbished Joola 15mm table - https://www.amazon.com/JOOLA-REFURBISHED-Inside-Table-Tennis/dp/B07BDWXYKW/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=table+tennis+table&qid=1556433273&s=gateway&sr=8-5

Stiga and Joola are reputable table tennis brands so you should be ok.

Be careful when purchasing from Amazon, because I'm seeing a lot of tables that are not full sized.

Edited from a comment I posted some time ago:

https://www.allabouttabletennis.com/table-tennis-table.html

This section is a quick summary of what you should be looking for

>A full-sized table tennis table is 9ft x 5ft (or 274cm x 152.5cm).

This is more for club players so you can get away with thinner tables but regarding table thickness:

>12mm – The cheapest tables. Avoid at all costs! Terrible bounce.

>16mm – Not a great bounce. Only buy if on a tight budget.

>19mm – Ideally the minimum. Will cost you £300.

>22mm – Good bounce. Ideal for clubs. Cheaper than 25mm.

>25mm – Competition standard table. Will cost at least £500.

https://www.allabouttabletennis.com/table-tennis-table.html

You also have the option of checking with Craigslist. When purchasing second hand tables, make sure the table's in playable condition by checking for surface damage, leg stability, playing on it for a bit (to check for consistent bounce), and confirming its specifications.

Hi folks -

u/chuckdeezoo beat me to this question for the day... and instead of creating a new post, I'll just piggyback... or perhaps Robin hood onto his topic. ;-)

So the question I have and perhaps, this might help u/chuckdeezoo also...

What's the better way to go for Winmau boards? The standard Blade 5 or the Dual Core Blade 5?

Winmau Blade 5 is on sale for $65 (US)

The Winmau Blade 5 Dual Core is $89 (US)

Any thoughts on the difference?

Thanks!!

u/RWTD_Burn · 3 pointsr/Arcade1Up

Remember with the 12 in 1 he will also need the interface board (which adds another $12 to the cost) if he only plans to replace the spinner. I bought the 12 in 1 mostly for Tempest as well and the Thunderstick was well worth the money spent. I've replaced the buttons, trackball, and spinner and the spinner is easily my favorite addition.

August is amazing as it is the container for the Perseids Meteor shower which usually kicks off and peaks around Aug 11-13th. It's one of the most active cyclical showers and there is nothing like a warm August night watching streaks of light repetitively shoot across the sky. We usually head out to a stargazing pad and spend a few hours out there just joking around and oohing and aahhing at the sky.

A badass night frisbee to play with my daughter during the 31 days of August.

u/cornynibblets · 2 pointsr/Darts

My buddy and I were also experiencing the same problem. Ended up getting a blade 5 and viper surround from Amazon. I can't recommend them enough.

However, if you don't have the means (or patience) to save money and wait to get a board, I almost bought one of these:
Use the force

The only downside, is the color scheme isn't traditional.
But from what i've heard...they are pretty decent.

Another option is the Viper boards on Amazon Meh!

Although...if you are going to spend $35...you might as well spend $60 and not have to replace for a while longer.

I just ordered the tempest from the UK as it was roughly the same price. I also the in a set of Sky Pro's for kicks ;D.

Really want that 4 pack deal though! And I know it's a gamble, but I really like the "torpedo" style RD's. They're like $30 on amazon.com..

Have fun! IMO, as far as starter sets go, I think the Discraft starter set is the best deal. You get a bag, a putter, a Buzzz, and 2 different drivers to try out (IIRC, it usually comes with a Heat and an Avenger SS.)

u/apopmachine · 2 pointsr/discgolf

Don't forget to mention how cheap it is. A basket is like $250 including the theft-proof lock system. You only need a few baskets to make a satisfying course. Not even 9, but people might get mad at me for saying that because they be like "nah man you need at least a half course" I found just three baskets to be enough in a triangle formation. Of course it would be easy to jam pack the course in that condition. I'm just listing some ideas that may be helpful to consider. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00HXM48Y2/ref=mp_s_a_1_10?qid=1426781635&sr=8-10&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70&keywords=disc+golf+basket

I can second this. I bought the one that akimbojimo229 recommended and was amazed at how well it pulls the oil off the ball. I think the key point to understand is that the continuous doesn't refer to the way you do things but the end state.

In the case of the darts the dart can land on any point on the dart board in a continuous fashion i.e. for any two points on the board the dart can land between them much like between any two numbers on the number line there are is an infinite series of numbers.

In the case of the coin toss the coin will either land heads up or tails up. There is no middle condition. Those are the only two distinct possibilities.

Here's the final point that might help bring those two examples into better contrast. An electronic dart board (see this image at Amazon and use the Zoom buttons to zoom in), which consists of a holey plastic "board" is also discrete because the darts in this game can only land in one of the holes in the board.

I might have confused you further. My apologies.

Kubb - Definitely heavy, and so much fun!

But really, most heavier games I can think of require huge amounts of flat table space. But for lighter fare I've had luck with Hive, Qwirkle, and Klask.

My university gym can only use liquid chalk so I've bought a bottle for when we run out sometimes and found the best use of it for outdoors. Use liquid chalk as a base layer, and then continue using my regular chalk when needed.

This is what my gym uses, and I find it better than Mammut brand, http://www.amazon.com/Edelweiss-Liquid-Chalk/dp/B000MWC9IM

This light up frisbee is integral to my spirit, as it soars though the air like a bullet, riding the wind with precision and grace. My soul is a beacon in the dark, and stands as a guide for those who cannot see when all light is lost.

HI! my name is Samantha by the way, nice to meet you, i too am a princess.

Looks great!

I highly recommend upgrading to a Blade 5 (or v4) dartboard though. I can see that the spider (metal wires that divide the board into segments (for anyone not familiar) is starting to lift up around the bullseye. This leads to more bounce outs. Once you go with a Blade, it's tough to go back to a the older style boards.

Looks like Amazon is bumping the prices up a little on the Chinooks, but a few One80 darts are back below $25 with free one day shipping.

That's kind of tough if you want it to be anything approaching a surprise... bowlers are very particular when it comes to their stuff. I am sure no one would turn down a nice bowling ball cloth, but that's not terribly expensive.

The only other semi-personal thing I can think of, depending on how big of a cornball your uncle wants to be, you might be able to get personalized team shirts (either silkscreened tshirts or embroidered polos) made for that amount for each person?

Otherwise, I think you're going to have to find out ahead of time what he actually wants and get that, or a gift certificate to his local pro shop.

This is the best disc I've found. Holds the flight pattern of a Discraft while still being soft enough to not hurt my pup and it's also fairly indestructable.

EDIT: im thinking of buying these once my new debit card shows up: Discraft Deluxe Disc Golf Set. Is this a good starter set?

Or does anyone have a good set with bag that they want to sell?

Anyone wanna meet up for some rounds? Im only ten minutes away!

Since I am unfamiliar with chalk or liquid chalk, could you recommend a quality brand?

Would something like this work?

u/blubrydnsh · 1 pointr/AustralianCattleDog

Copied this from an old post of mine so sorry for those who may have seen it! The below has lasted over 1.5 years and still going strong.

https://www.amazon.com/Hyperflite-Jawz-Disc-4-Inch-Blueberry/dp/B002CM3O6G/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1474300389&sr=8-8&keywords=dog+frisbee

I use that brand and theyve held up extremely well, one of mine is much like y'alls where half the time hed rather try to destroy it after fetching it.

u/TentacleLoveGoddess · 1 pointr/dogs

Have you tried either the Zogoflex Zisc or the Hyperflite Jawz? Those two have held up very well with our Aussie, who shredded the Kong frisbee in minutes.

Edited to add: Looks like Leerburg still has the Chewber in stock

u/Rock_out_Cock_in · 1 pointr/Fitness

It's chalk in liquid form that dries really quickly. It's perfect for gyms where they ban regular chalk (like mine) http://www.amazon.com/Edelweiss-Liquid-Chalk/dp/B000MWC9IM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1370651741&sr=8-1&keywords=edelweiss+liquid+chalk Edelweiss is the stuff I use and it works like a charm for all my lifts. I've used others but I like how thick this particular brand is and how much chalk it coats your hands in. Warning all liquid chalks look like semen of different viscosity before you apply them and they dry. You've been warned.

u/electricsentinel · 3 pointsr/boardgames

Cokinole was what sent me on my research into dexterity games. The price point is a factor though as I've seen most boards start at $150.

I did come across this on Amazon though. While it's not a dedicated and proper Crokinole board, it seems to be a great entry level one to test the waters.

u/m_anwr · 2 pointsr/Darts

Sadly, I live in Egypt and there are no dart stores here. I depend on the posts to have an opinion before ordering something from Amazon.

I ordered one80 A-24g @ Nov 6th I think it is supposed to arrive next week. Hopefully.

Yeah they are going to be a constant item being sold, they just keep selling out really fast. They've been selling them on Amazon in batches of 500 and they're selling out in an hour or two so just keep checking.

These are probably a better investment than the Innova one based on the heavier weights they tend to come in. You'll still want to throw them if you get Into the game where you'll probably shelf the Innova ones for being too light.

I just bought a Throwback Sack
for around $50.

I switched from an old backpack which could comfortably hold just 6-7 discs as well as a couple beers and my 32oz Nalgene water bottle.

This bag is incredible so far. Cooler can hold a six pack and those Ice pack things(Now guess who is designated beer mule for the group), as well as some 10-12 discs, it has two dividers that you can use or not, makes dividing discs up simple and makes them easy to find. Big water bottle holder for my nalgene, and a putter pocket on the outside so my main putter is always accessible.

Only downside is the strap could be longer, but if it was, my disc towel would drag on the ground.

u/jimmt42 · 2 pointsr/Arcade1Up

first repointing attempt: https://m.imgur.com/AnF7WhT

I don’t have a before picture because I am not much of a planner.

The darts are some of the Amazon 24g One80s that have been discussed here before.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XXK2QCS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_rL2QCbC6BQFK7

They came with short silver points Which I got tired of scuffing up constantly so I swapped in some longer gold points from DC clearance corner.

Used the Designa re-pointing tool. Worked very well and seems to be a very firm hold with no Loctite needed.

However I tried another re-pointing immediately afterward with some harrows laser etched points and some V180 Brian Woods darts, and the points fell out almost immediately afterward lol. So I am 1 for 2 and some loctite is on my shopping list.

*edited to add link for the darts

THe 12 in 1 addon board for the GRS spinner would work - You plug in the trackball/spinner and it converts it to be used as a USB device for PC/RPI ( https://www.amazon.com/Arcade1Up-12-1-Interface-Board/dp/B07NKJ3SKH/ref=pd_rhf_se_p_img_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=GQ3C5NHMD4359VXSC8JN)

I don't know much about the quality, but the Throwback Sports bags have coolers.

The old version of backpack used the entire main compartment. The newer one has insulated side pockets. There's also a smaller bag with less disc storage.

Forgive me for repeating anything you may already know.

For the buttons and joystick, you need a USB encoder. This or similar:

https://www.amazon.com/EG-STARTS-Encoder-Controller-Joystick/dp/B01L8K21CK/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=arcade+usb+encoder&qid=1574973074&sr=8-5

Connect the buttons and joystick to the encoder, connect the encoder to the pi through USB. When you set up retropie, you will be prompted to assign each button for the pi interface.

For the GRS spinner and trackball, you will also need the GRS "12-in1 board".

https://www.amazon.com/Arcade1Up-12-1-Interface-Board/dp/B07NKJ3SKH/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=grs+12-in-1&qid=1574973218&sr=8-2

The GRS spinner and trackball are both designed to plug directly into the stock Arcade1Up hardware. There is no USB connection on those devices. The 12-in-1 board gives you that USB connection. Plug the Spinner into the "P1" port on the 12-in-1 board. Plug the Trackball into the "P2 port". Use the micro USB port on the board to connect to a USB port on the pi.

The pi will recognize the spinner and trackball as a mouse - both devices will be interpreted as the same mouse input. But, that should already be set up to control left/right/up/down movements in any emulator. (Left/right only for the spinner, of course). So, you can jump right into centipede, or tempest or whatever you're using them for.

You may need to adjust the sensitivity of the trackball and/or spinner in each game individually until you get the right performance. There are threads about that on this sub. Here's one:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Arcade1Up/comments/cj1m4b/share_your_trackball_speed_settings_in_retropie/

In that thread, you can ignore where it says to change the speed. As is clarified later in the thread, the speed settings don't matter - only sensitivity.
