Ok, money, time, and convenience, the bodywash will work. It won't give you the ultimate experience that's possible, but in a utilitarian sort of way, it will work. Make sure to turn off the water, and spend a little time to build up a lather.

Going the extra steps isn't much more effort or cost. It also allows a closer shave, smoother and tighter skin, if you decide to do the complete process. I used to be ok with a disposable razor using hair conditioner during my shower shave, because it wasn't much different result than a sink shave, with my disposable razor, and aerosol shave soap. I've now been wet shaving for 10+years, and occasionally try a disposable razor. I can get a pretty close shave but my face feels raw. The shave that isn't so close I can live with, but I can't stand the scrapped up feel of my skin.

For the best shave, you should wash your skin first, then build a lather. That means clean up with the bodywash isn't really a wasted step, if you decide to go with shave soap. The wash process also gives your skin sort of a rub down which benefits the shave process.

Stay away from aerosol shave soap. The brush and puck of shave soap will be the least expensive, but I get it not wanting to deal with that in the shower. Shave creams come in a tube like toothpaste, make a fine lather without a brush, for probably $10-$15. I find those easiest to use in the shower. There are creams that come in a tub with a screw on lid. Those can also be used without a brush. Heck, even a puck of shave soap can be rubbed on your legs, and then build a lather with just your hands, without a brush. Just make sure to turn off the shower water as you build your lather. The splashing water makes it hard to build a lather. Hard puck of soap would need to be stored in container though, otherwise it will melt away in the shower faster than you wish.

The most difficult part of choosing a shave cream, is probably to find a nice scent. I have lots of favorite creams and soaps, but my scent preference will be different than yours. Learning that you're female, sort of makes me out of touch what you might like. Truefitt and Hill along with Taylor of Old Bond Street both make good shave cream, in lots of different scents. You might like the rose scent, but it might remind you of granny instead. I haven't tried their lavender, but that might be a good scent. Taylor of Old Bond Street also makes a nice lather. You might like the almond or avocado scents. They also have a lavender, a peppermint, a grapefruit, and a coconut that I have not tried.

Like you mentioned... there is a learning curve, and you need to be a little patient :)

I switched from cartridge to a safety razor about two years ago and I experienced much of the same frustration and problems you are encountering. There are many factors, but let me go through a few of them separately.

First of all, you claim that you are having a hard time lathering up. What do you mean with "passably stiff" lather? Lather shouldn't be very "stiff"; some define the best lather as having the consistency of runny yogurt. Keep in mind that the lather's purpose is to soften the beard and the skin and to provide a surface on which the blade can glide easily. If the lather is too dry, you will definitely have a sub-par experience. I haven't yet tried Taylor of Old Bond, but among the creams/soaps I tried, some are definitely easier to lather up. For instance, I can lather up a Proraso with much less effort than I can with a Cella (although the latter isn't particularly hard to use, either). If you are having a hard time with a soap, why not try a cream, first? I started out with [Tabac cream] (http://www.amazon.com/Tabac-Original-Maurer-Shaving-Ounces/dp/B000GHYXDW/ref=sr_1_1?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1373210205&sr=1-1&keywords=tabac+shaving+cream) and I never had any problems with it (please keep in mind that, while I love the smell of Tabac, some people hate it).

I think that using a brush feels unnatural because you aren't used to it. Like everything else, you will get accustomed to the experience - I think that the difference is similar to switching from a regular toothbrush to an electric one. I haven't tried your particular brush, but it is normal that some are softer than others. My first brush, a middle-of-the-road Kent, is extremely soft; the custom silvertip I bought later is a little stiffer. If the brush spreads out all over your face, you might be applying too much pressure, so try to be a little lighter. If the brush is very soft, try to hold the base of the bristles with your fingers, to make it a little stiffer, especially when you are lathering up. In my case, I ended up using the soft brush with the Tabac cream, and the silvertip brush with the harder creams/soaps.

The problem with the excessive tugging could be caused by many factors, but from experience I am inclined to think that it is a matter of technique. It could be an issue caused by the particular razor or blade that you are using, and you should experiment with something else later, but I would first try to refine your technique. First of all, take your time as you drive the razor across the face; with a cartridge razor, you can generally move faster, but you will need to be a little slower now that you are starting out with a safety razor. The angle at which you hold the razor is also key and I can nearly guarantee you that it is the mostly likely culprit for the tugging, as it was for me. Try to hold the razor at different angles, until you find one where the tugging lessens or disappears; you will need to pay a lot of attention to the angle, as you are likely going to switch to the angle you have used so far with the cartridge razors. Also, how often do you shave? I normally shave every other day, but sometimes I don't do it for 3, 4 or even 5 days. When my beard is particularly long, a bit of tugging is probably to be expected. Last, but not least... do you shave before or after you shower? Especially as you are starting out, shaving after a shower will probably help you. I actually prefer to shave before I shower, but I wash my face beforehand, then apply a generous layer of Proraso pre-shaving cream.

The important thing is... don't give up! If you take your time to learn how to do things properly, you will never want to go back to a cartridge razor.

Wet shaving is the cheapest way shave I have ever found, and the best shave I have ever gotten. I shave every other day and get a "5 o'clock shadow" around mid-afternoon the second day. This has been better for my skin too.

Depending on how fast you go through blades, it can be pretty cheap. I use these blades as they have the best quality-to-cost ratio I have found - Shark Super Chrome

Invest in a good badger hair brush - it will last you years if you take care of it. It really does make a difference and will allow you to use better, cheaper soap than any foam you can get in a can.

For soap, I am a big fan of Taylor of Old Bond Street. A $15 tub will last me 1-2 years (a little bit goes a long way!) I dab a finger in to the tub and put it in to a cup that I use to froth with my brush.

From a brief description here, it doesn't sound frugal. But I buy blades every ~18 months and soap every ~24 months... I use a Merkur DES handle I bought years ago for $30, and buy a brush every few years. I would say my annual costs are less than $20. Cheaper than any other method I have used while having better shaves and less irritation.

u/almightywhacko · 1 pointr/wicked_edge

If you are really dedicated to mediocre non-lathering shave creams...

u/d3rp_diggler · 1 pointr/wicked_edge

This is barely under $20 before shipping...but is Just over $30 after shipping. I suspect shopping around for better vendors will provide better results.

This was similar to the kit I started out with. Same blades (not the sharpest, but are plenty forgiving), same Creme, better brush than the Van Der Hagen I started with. Not sure about the razor, but a solid cap razor tends to be better than a bomb-door razor at this price point, that's why I went with that option.

Practicality? Maybe.

Cost? Not really...if you're buying the expensive end, yeah....I've always bought in the cheap end and been very happy, and gotten a decent shave and a lot of lather from it. You don't need to be in the 20$ range. A puck lasts longer than a can, so that 1.29 goes in repeatedly before you use up a puck, which could (at least with the soaps I use, I'll list them below) even out in costs.

On top of that, canned stuff is worse for your skin and health, that's been shown.

Soaps I've used and use:

Lightfoot's Pine for 7.08

Swedish Dream Sea Salt, avg 6.20

Conk's Bay rum 6.00

Van der Hagen 2.50 (This one I find for about 2 at local stores too)

These are just my soaps that I've used. Not to mention there are other options out there as well!

Not to mention using a brush and lathering has benefits. You mention hassle? Seriously? I can do a full face work ready shave in 5 minutes and I have the shittiest grain pattern imaginable. I can do my neck in 3 minutes (shitty neck grain pattern). That's lathering, shaving, cleaning up, etc. I use a badger brush, so I don't need to soak it, I guess.

Arko sticks are kinda a hassle, I won't argue that because I understand that. But not all soaps and shaves are also hassles because...I mean...come on, if I can do my face with that little hassle, you ought to be able to pull off something.

I'm saying this and bringing up the cost because I switched because of cost alone. Comfort a bit. I don't collect razors. I'm kinda overstocked at the moment with three, and some guys around here have dozens. I'm not a hobbyist, I use a brush and DE because of the cost vs. rattlecans and razors.

Barbasol is cheap, so the cost difference may be small, but to the best of my knowledge, is still there.

If being proven that it at least breaks even, and at best can improve from there, is not enough....at least use this sort of barbasol. The Aerosel and rattlecans are terrible for your skin.

I also see you've posted below about how you know that it's your technique and have decided that you're going to ignore that you have erred in your technique and ditch it anyway. If you're lazy, it won't help you in trying things to the best of their abilities!

However, if after all this you're still going to ditch brushes and soaps, creams, etc, /u/shave_bazaar allows you to post your supplies up and you can give them up for shipping costs alone to newbies who want to try their hand at wet shaving, rather than canning them.

u/Uther-Lightbringer · 1 pointr/news

100% this, I got tired of it taking so long but still enjoyed the better feel of higher quality shave cream than fucking Barbsol. So I opted for the canned Proraso Shave Cream.

https://www.amazon.com/Proraso-Shaving-Foam-Refreshing-Toning/dp/B008F9LRH8/ref=sr_1_14_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1469034024&sr=1-14&keywords=proraso

It's more expensive than most of what you'd buy OTC but it smells great and I like to think I feel a difference lol

u/redrider65 · 1 pointr/wicked_edge

What they said, lots of good creams out there. Recently got Gillette Pure and it's good. Can use a brush or not. Brush creams you can quickly lather by rubbing it between your hands.

My fave is Trader Joe's. A little goes a long way, incredibly slick, smells great. If you want something cheap but great, try Pro Shave. I was quite skeptical at first, never heard of it, looks very mom & pop. Smells like zinc oxide! But honestly this stuff gives a helluva good shave. I bought an empty tube to put it in when I'm traveling.

In the cheap brushless category there's also Stephan's. Haven't tried it but it's been around forever. Works, I think.

u/ItchyPooter · 1 pointr/Wetshaving

If you're in the US, and so long as you buy enough stuff to justify shipping/get free shipping, take advantage of the strong dollar:

http://connaughtshaving.com/atk13.html

That's less than 20 USD, before shipping. And go ahead and spring for the terracotta bowl, you'll thank yourself.

Otherwise, I usually encourage to buy from our small biz vendors, but the best deal going on I Coloniali on this side of the Atlantic is Amazon Prime.

EDIT: I use the S1 Atlas nearly daily, and have been since April of last year. Love it.

u/gfdthrowaway137 · 14 pointsr/sexover30

Shaving is probably the worst way to remove genital hair FYI. Waxing is much healthier but it's best to have a professional do it, which can be kind of expensive.

Some of the people I know who are big into being hairless swear by this stuff: https://www.amazon.com/Magic-Shave-Shaving-Powder-Gold-5/dp/B00HDONBX4/ It's a bit like Nair lite, but it comes as a powder and you mix it up yourself. Just be careful and don't leave it on too long, because it can burn your skin.

I'm going to second the poster who suggests that you try out anything you are considering asking her to do before you ask her to do it. This has the added benefit of you being able to troubleshoot for her, so you can back up your request with helpfulness.

u/pr1nce55p3ach · 1 pointr/TwoXChromosomes

When I was pregnant and couldn't see or feel my biznass well enough to feel comfortable shaving I used Magic Cream It works well. As long as you don't leave it on too long.

HOWEVER! I recommend waxing. SO much easier! no muss no fuss. It doesn't hurt nearly as bad as you think it will, truly the anticipation is the worst of it. I started off going to a shop to get Brazilians every 4-6 weeks, then I bought my own kit from Sally's beauty supply. Best investment ever.

Good luck!

u/SpongegirlCS · 11 pointsr/tifu

Your mistake was the scrubbing. A microfiber cloth to gently slough it off works well. You got to be careful not to get it in between past the labia area where there is no hair. It's also best to use the sensitive formula or the one with aloe or baby oil to but a barrier between skin and hair. Most important, don't pee right before doing any of this. I found urine and Nair burns you no matter how much you rinse off beforehand.

Another thing you can do if you get a chemical burn like this no matter what percautions you took, is use aloe vera gel after and you'll be healed by the next day.

A gentler option is [Magic Shave](SoftSheen-Carson Magic Razorless Cream Shave - Regular Strength for Normal Beards, 6 oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZXBI0XU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_eoH7AbXP9D57E) for men. It's takes four minutes, you have to keep splashing water on it to keep it wet, which I think prevents burn, and only takes four minutes.

Edit: your story had me laughing my ass off, btw. I've been there. :)

u/j_andrew_h · 1 pointr/explainlikeimfive

I started going bald in my late 20s and shaved it before it really got too bad. I've been shaving now for about 15 years and if I didn't shave I'd pretty much just have hair on the sides and back. Here is my routine which takes less about 3 minutes tops per day:

  • I shave with a regular stick razor about 3 times per week (I like it really clean)
    • Razor: I use the Dollar Shave Club Executive blades and could probably go down to every other month since I do keep a bit of a beard so shaving needs have reduced
    • Cream:
      • My favorite head shaving cream is getting harder to find but is Headslick Shave Cream: Link
      • I've started using the shave cream from Dollar Shave Club and I like it; but again my preference is the Headslick because it re-wets nicely and is easy to shave until you fully rinse off
  • On off days I use an electric razor to smooth it out
    • Skull Shaver Pitbull Gold: Link
  • Sometimes I do nothing and most others don't notice but I do and I prefer to shave if I'm going out

I also added a fogless mirror in the shower and started shaving my head in there recently; which I like so far.
u/gar187er · 2 pointsr/AskMen

get a pre shave scrub.....and good shaving cream (not foam or gel).....and post shave lotion.

take a shower, do your hair, whatever, let the steam open your pores,

Hopefully you own a wet shaver, and a good one at that.....

i own the Panny LA93. ITS AWESOME.

Anyway, tehn you use the scrub, rinse off, then light lather of shave cream, and shave. When done, finish up in the shower. Once you get out, pat dry your face, and apply lotion immediately!

Also you look like you have a few breakouts on your face. could be related to your shaving irritation...

I started with Neutrogena Shave stuff, cause it was cheap, but then I switched to Every Man Jack, and love it....not too pricey either. Get it online or at Target

For ladies who have sensitive skin down-below: Magic hair remover for black men. It is SO much better than Nair or equivalent products, and it doesn't burn/sting/leave a horrible rash. Black men use it to get "that smooth, sexy shaved head look" or something like that, but for the bikini line (all races; I'm a white girl) it is amaaaazing. It actually leaves your skin pretty soft. Shaving makes me get ingrown hairs, waxing is owie, and I can't have Nair on my skin for more than 15 seconds before the fiery wrath of a thousand suns heats up between my legs. For me, Magic is...MAGIC. dohoho.

EDIT: Here's the link guys. In response to the person who said it wasn't as effective as other depilatory options: you are correct, if you have a giant, erm, bush you should probably trim it first. I believe the bottle states it takes care of hair under .5 in with ease.

u/ImMessingYouUp · 1 pointr/minimalism

For sure.

This is the shaving goo that they make.

I can't recommend any "kits" or other products that they sell however. I had a relative go nuts and buy all the stuff several years ago for Christmas, very thoughtful gift though.

I shave about every other day. If my work becomes highly technical, I shave (head & face) more due to my generally increased precision at that time (if that makes sense). If things are chill I might even go two days without shaving.

I shave for 10 minutes every other day when its pretty close, and 15 minutes when its getting longer. That stuff is cool because you don't have to reapply usually like a cream / gel.

u/Goose88 · 2 pointsr/wicked_edge

I'm not familiar with the brand. I love the Tweezerman, but I imagine a brush at half the price would be to low quality for me. If you're new you'll find out that quality products can often make a huge difference. For me, I think a decent razor (I prefer my Merkur 1904) and a nice cream make all the difference (I prefer Taylor of Old Bond Street and Geo F. Trumper). I've always thought that a expensive brush couldn't make my shave much better than an expensive cream and razor would. However, some basic degree of quality is desired in a brush.

u/ak74guy · 1 pointr/AskDocs

I have sensitive skin on my face personally, I found a type of razor that actually helps to reduce the irritation. Safety razors (yeah I know kind of old school) But when using them it helps to reduce irritation significantly (at least in my experience) I personally use a Merkur safety razor. You can also get womens safety razors but for whatever reason they cost more. On top of that I use a boar hair brush, but some people prefer badger hair brushes as they are softer and are easier to use on softer soaps. Then go onto r/wicked_edge as they have tutorials on how to use the type of razors. You can also look for shaving soaps that contain aloe or things to soothe the skin during shaving. So look at the links and determine what would be best, you can also look further for other types of soaps, blades, and the razor itself. You will also need some sort of bowl to keep the shaving cream. You will and a stand to keep the soap from ruining the knot inside of the brush itself. This type of set up made it so I don't get ingrown hairs or irritation.

It's nontraditional, but Cremo Cream gives a fantastic shave. Ordering from Amazon US, you can get 3 tubes for $32 delivered, which will last ages.

My go to is the Body Shop's Maca Root shaving cream (seemingly out of stock nationwide at the moment). But I grab Cremo when I'm in a hurry or just can't be bothered with the usual ritual, and get consistently close and gentle results. Really convenient for traveling, too.

Just to add my two cents. I scrub first. My skin gets irritated if I scrub again right after shaving.

Also, exfoliating gloves or towels are AMAZING! Better than a loofah because they're easier to clean and dry, so bacteria doesn't build up on them. And as opposed to some body scrubs, they won't clog your drain. I use them with face wash when scrubbing my back/shoulders and a moisturizing/milky body wash on my legs/rest of my body. Also, with the towels, you can get different strengths. So I have a medium strength one and a hardcore one. The hardcore one is great to use on my legs before I shave. You'll get a way better shave from properly exfoliating before you shave.

This is what I'm talking about if you haven't heard of them: exfoliating gloves and exfoliating towel

Also, I never really liked shave gel, but this Cremo Cream shaving cream changed my life. It is so freaking good

This is my razor and brush (I didn't get them from Amazon but they are available):

Edwin Jagger DE89L - £24

Progress Vulfix 404 Grosvenor Mixed Badger and Boar Bristle Shaving Brush - £12.99

Plenty of shaving soaps available. I am quite happy with the palmolive shaving cream in a tube which you can get on amazon but is also available in a lot of chemists and some supermarkets.

You will also need a selection of razor blades, because different blades work for different people. I know you were asking about Amazon, but the blade packs on there seem quite expensive. This pack from Connaught Shaving gives you 60 blades for £9.90
which is quite a bit cheaper than the ones I could find on Amazon.

Two of my favorites (scent and performance wise) are Tabac (cream here) and Cella (Cream bowl here) The Cella is a pretty soft paste, but it probably benefits from using at least a shave brush. The Tabac cream can be lathered with just his hands on his face. The Tabac has a traditionally masculine smell, hints of bay rum and tobacco. The Cella is very almond-y with some notes of cherry (kind of like an Amaretto smell).

Travel size CO Bigelow Shaving Cream (The same as Proraso cream) - $5

Tweezerman badger hair shaving brush - $13

Concord DE Razor - $10

100 Derby Blades - $8

I don't know if the Concord razor is good, but the price fits. The tweezerman brush is a great entry level brush.

I buy fragrance free products by and large. Here are those I use:

u/redditiem · 2 pointsr/shaveoftheday

It's my favorite right now. I smell like a fancy Frenchman when I'm done and it really soothes.

Amazon has some good reviews on it: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000YZ5G46?ie=UTF8&force-full-site=1&ref_=aw_bottom_links

u/wxwv · 12 pointsr/AskWomen

This one but there are varieties for sensitive skin, extra strength, etc.

Some of the reviews say it "doesn't work", which is probably because they left it on for the "recommended" 4 minutes. It absolutely will not fucking work in 4 minutes lol

Razor: Parker SRW with Shark Blades

Brush: Frank Shaving Badger Brush

Cream: Taylor of Old Bond Street: Eton College

Aftershave: Old Spice Classic

First ever straight razor shave! Damn was I nervous... played some classical music to ease my mind. It turned out really well I think, only a couple nicks that weren't bad at all and very little irritation that subsided in an hour.

Incredibly close shave like nothing I've had before. The cream dried halfway through so I had to reapply it, I'm not sure if I was doing something wrong or just took too long.

Will definitely be making this routine maybe a couple times a week due to how long it takes. I'll stick with my electric shaver most mornings because I really wouldn't want to do this while rushing to class :)

You can still find the dish and soap on Amazon for $44 or so, get it now!

the good stuff in that cool bowl

The terracotta dish is wider and more shallow, just enough that you can more readily load from it than the Gunkler&Hilton container.

u/Official_Legacy · 11 pointsr/oddlysatisfying

I bought last week a good quality heavy DE razor (Amazon Link), Taylor of Old Bond Street shaving cream (Link), 50 Astra Platinum blades, 50 Gillette Platinum blades, a 6-7$ shaving brush and a nice wooden shaving bowl.

Im at my fourth shave and I still didn't cut myself. You just need to prep-work your skin with a hot towel or a shower. I don't know about the shaving cream since I'm a beginner but I watched a lot of tutorial on YouTube to build a good lather. My first lather was shitty, but my second was already better.

One double edge blade is 10 cents. If you change your blade every two shaves, it will cost you approx. 10$ in blades for an entire year.

I don't know why I waited so long before making the switch.

This? I'd like to try it...

Riippuu toki höylästä. Kolmella neljällä kympillä saa kyllä jo semmoisen setin (höylä, terät, suti, mömmöt) millä tekee parturiliikkeen tyylisen "luksusajelun" kotioloissa joka päivä vuoden ajan.

EDIT. Todiste alaäänestäjille:

u/XSATC · 1 pointr/wicked_edge

My barber used a conditioning shave cream as a preshave before I started with my straight. As far as I’m aware he still uses the same stuff.

Stephans

It has a coconut smell, and he’d apply it, then use a hot towel for a couple mins, before starting in with shave cream for the actual shave. Never had any issues with it though I’m hesitant to buy some for myself being as it has the coconut scent. I don’t want it to interfere with any of my scents that I’ve grown to love.

u/goldragon · 1 pointr/wicked_edge

I got a tube of Pre de Provence After Shave Balm with Shea Butter 75 ml balm a couple of months ago. It has shea butter listed right in the name, though maybe it's only a trace amount and likely not 25%. It feels really good going on but my face will feel parched half an hour later, like I didn't even use any aftershave lotion.

u/MissVancouver · 3 pointsr/oddlysatisfying

You should try some Cella. It smells amazing and the lather is superb.

u/homer_j_simpsoy · 1 pointr/hookah

They also make rose shaving cream and I can confirm that it both smells like rose and works very well.

I'm a 21 yo male and it doesn't seem like anything is helping with preventing acne. I always seem to have one or two pimples on my face and then when I break out it is more than that. It's frustrating because even though I lance them when they come to a head and dab some witch hazel on them they still stay super red for like a week or so. I don't pick at them until they are fully at a head, then I use a lance. I'm PIH prone and I have been using ambi fade cream/glycolic acid for 6 months. Its helped some but the new spots take like a month or more to fully fade. Doesn't seem like it matters what I do or use, nothing prevents me from getting pimples. I also have been using stridex for a month now and I still get pimples like before. The spots just seem to stay inflamed or irritated for a really long time, they just stay red. Also, I'm a college student so I can't really afford the $50/oz "cures-everything" cleansers I sometimes see on here.

ALSO: I obviously have to shave, and I use Cremo Cream, maybe its my shaving cream?

Any suggestions? This is kind of my last hail mary

This is what my skin looks like this morning

Morning Routine: kirks coco castile soap, stridex, ambi cream, spf100

Nightly routine: kirks coco castile soap, nip/fab glycolic night pad (5%), ambi, cerave lotion

Spot treatments (i just received the cosrx patches yesterday) : bye bye blemish sulfur drying lotion, cosrx hydrocolloid pads

Uh you’re fucking hot - hairy bro. Like good lord.

Try hair removal creams NOT ON THE JUNK

If you ever do that aloe Vera - super helps.

But honestly you need to just do what you want but I wouldn’t changed a damn thing about your body hair

Barbasol non aerosol shaving cream. Don't laugh. For five bucks it's worth having around. It's pretty much what the GIs used in WWII, before canned cream was a thing in the fifties. Now it's often used for baby butt rash. So getting a BBS from it seems logical, dontcha think? Don't like the shave? Use it as a cream in the winter for chapped hands and the like.

u/Bamboo_Harvester · 1 pointr/shaving

Ohhh sorry I missed your point about price.

Shave cream and brush for $10-15 will be tough... but you can do it for about $20.

Couple cream options ($10 or less):

Palmolive For Men Classic Palm Extract Shave Cream 100ml https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0012Y1ELM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_6sBwCb19FTMJ9

Proraso Shaving Cream, Refreshing and Toning, 5.2 oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00837ZOI0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_hxBwCbMNJSWK1

You should ask him to try shaving in the shower and use his non-dominant hand as a feeler. He should get used to it after the second or third time.

Source: I am bald, myself, and use a Magnum M5 razor, not a straight razor, along with this shaving cream.

Mitchell's Wool Fat is what I'm using now. Really like it. But for softer soaps, I'm also partial to Taylor of Old Bond Street or Proraso

u/CanadaEh97 · 2 pointsr/wicked_edge

Here is the back of the can. It's going to have a bunch of propellants to get it out of the can. Comparing to Barbasol it looks like a similar list of things.

În zonele unde mă rad, folosesc Gillette Fusion5 ProGlide și Palmolive For Men Classic Palm Extract Shave Cream.

Also, the headslick is a must for shaving your head. One bottle of that stuff typically lasts about 6 - 8 months for me.

u/Vengeance164 · 7 pointsr/wicked_edge

I don't know if you already planned on doing it, but I think you should include at least one shave where you do your normal routine, up until using your DE. Then just use the Mach 3, or whatever. I hated every version of canned shaving cream, and the only one I liked at all was HeadSlick But it also has a fuckload of menthol. But I found it less disagreeable than the mystery goop.

However, it's nowhere near the shave soaps I've tried so far.

Anyway, food for thought. I'm interested to see how your week goes!

>Kokeilin ennen joulua ensimmäisen kerran Arko-saippuatikkua ja on muuten hyvää tavaraa. Vaahtoaa todella helposti, toimii hyvin ja on erittäin halpaa.

Toinen hyvä on sitten vaikkapa Palmoliven vastaava.

Arkon tuotteita saa muuten Viipurista erinomaisen hyvin.

Dude don't shave using a razor down there! It gets super uncomfortable hurts like hell when the hair grows back. Either trim it down with a trimmer or use this http://www.amazon.ca/Sheen-Carson-Magic-Razorless-Smooth/dp/B000TG63XS
Just rub that on, wait a few minutes and it'll all fall down. When the hairs grow back they're not prickly since the hairs have been removed from the root.

Edit: words

u/Sarthax · 10 pointsr/pics

I worked with a French dude who was from Angola. He couldn't shave but instead used this paste that dilapidated hair and then scraped it off with a plastic card or something to pull the hair out.

Something like this..
www.amazon.com/Magic-Smooth-Razorless-Remover-Cream/dp/B000TG63XS/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

If he shaved he'd get hell of bumps presumably ingrown hairs.

u/harper_kentucky · 35 pointsr/Parenting

Hey, I am lebanese. I've had a mustache since I was 9.

I use this product on my upper lip only. I leave it on for about 7-12 minutes once every six weeks. It completely removes my dark hair.

It doesn't create stubble that razors do, it grows back soft. Have her set an alarm on her phone to do it once every few weeks.

Warning it smells like absolute death.

u/Kravego · 4 pointsr/AirForce

Dude. Wet shave.

  • Get yourself a safety razor. Merkur is the brand that everyone recommends and honestly I have nothing but good things to say about them. $40

  • Next, get some blades. Feather is the sharpest fucking blade on the planet. I'll probably get gripes about telling you to get this one first, because you can really do some damage with these. But they're really the best damn blades on the market. Cuts through a 2-week leave beard like fucking butter. This pack is ~$25 and will last you a year or more.

  • Last, get yourself some product to put on your face:

  • Cream from C.O. Bigelow. Eucalyptus feels nice as fuck.

  • Aftershave. I don't know if the caffeine effect is legit or just placebo, but I feel like I wake up better with it.

  • Alum Block The purpose of the alum block is to close pores and stop small cuts from bleeding. Stings like a bitch at times but works.

All of this costs you $85 in total upfront, but you'll only need to buy shaving cream and aftershave from then on out. The blades will last you a year and the razor a lifetime. I don't know how long it takes to run out of alum in that block, but I've been using the same one for 5 years and I can't see a difference in size.
